Link | 1 | 1 | Mondo Vanilli | Mondo Vanilli | United States | Mondo Vanilli | R.U. Sirius, Scrappi DüChamp, Simone Third Arm Mondo Vanilli (a.k.a. "MV Inc." or "The Artists Formerly Known As Mondo Vanilli") is largely a parody of a band, created by R.U. Sirius of Mondo 2000 Magazine. Trent Reznor (of Nine Inch Nails fame) heard their song "Love Is The Product" at a party and liked it. His label, Nothing Records, would go on to finance the recording of Mondo Vanilli's album "IOU Babe", with their contract still being worked out. When the album was submitted to Nothing, for unspecified reasons, they elected not to release it. Mondo Vanilli never formally signed with the label, so Nothing had no further obligations with the band. "IOU Babe" remained unreleased, until Mondo Vanilli eventually offered it themselves for free download on the internet.

Link | 1 | 1 | tide/edit | tide/edit | Tide/Edit | The local music scene has sprouted numerous independent bands, spanning a wide range of sound and musical style that challenge the norms, creating and experimenting with music beyond conventions. One of them is Manila-based instrumental rock band tide/edit, whose sonic landscape mainly stems from a blend of post-rock and math rock sensibilities – dynamically complex rhythms popularized mostly by Asian bands such as Japanese band ‘toe’ and Taiwan’s ‘Elephant Gym’, among others. Formed in 2011, with a couple of songs and demos on hand, Clarence Garcia (guitars) and Jawin Pagaduan (drums), sought for potential bandmates online, eventually recruiting Noe Rubio (bass), and finally Nelson Villamayor (guitars). It was in 2012 when they debuted “Backpack” – a track off their first EP, IDEAS. Online music sites picked it up, which soon gained traction. The band launched the EP, produced by Tony Rago (LIFE2short Productions) on August 31, 2012. IDEAS garnered accolades from online music sites, with Vandals On The Wall citing that the EP “catapults you into the alternate side of consciousness… maintaining the element of passion where their genre roots from, but kept it short, allowing you to catch your breath and bask in the afterglow of each track.” IDEAS was among online local music publication Vandals On The Wall’s ‘Most Anticipated Filipino Releases 2012’ and local music magazines PULP’s ‘Favorite OPM Albums of 2012’ and FHM Philippines’ ‘7 Albums You Should Download Right This Minute’. In the same year, the band has also shared the stage with international acts, opening for Malaysian indie rock band Silent Scenery (2012 Asia Tour) and Japanese jazz/funk/post-rock act Mouse On The Keys (2012 Machinic Phylum Tour). In 2013, they opened for another post-progressive rock band, Singapore’s ANECHOIS. In 2014, tide/edit released their first full-length album, Foreign Languages, which culminated their sound, delivering a fully realized collection of songs that displayed the band’s melodically and intrinsically mature sound, as well as their growth as musicians. International online music publication Fecking Bahamas lauded the album, calling it “a beautiful piece of work, full of melody and energy. Clean syncopated guitar riffs duel with a solid and unfussy rhythm section that gives even on repeat listens,” while Vandals On The Wall called it a “remarkable effort that delivered the same elements, yet has evidently expanded their musical template much further.” The band and the album were also featured on a number of music sites and print publications, both foreign and local, such as Radio Republic, Yahoo! Philippines, GMA News Online, Bandwagon, Spread, The Wknd, and PULP Magazine. Shortly after the album launch, they played on the Independent Stage for the annual Fête dela Musique Philippines. Link | 1 | 1 | Sterbhaus | Sterbhaus | Sterbhaus | Sterbhaus is a Stockholm based quartet playing a form of Metal named "Metal Deluxe" which is to be described as Thrash/Death/Black/Heavy Metal which is neither retro or modern. The music is complemented with unique and witful lyrics and often with a social hidden agenda dressed up with an at times slightly humoristic approach. Started in 2007 and previously hosted members of the Swedish comedy act Skitarg which had a large impact on the early work. The only remaining member from the start is Marcus Hammarström (previously Elvira Madigan) who since the reformation of the band (prior to the 2012 release "Angels for Breakfast ...And God for Lunch) - aside from playng the bass also handles the vocals. A collaboration for studio recording sessions with drummer Erik Röjås (Decadence, Netherbird etc) led to a firm position in the band in 2014. The act is know for its wide array of very unique and entertaining high quality music videos. Line up: Marcus Hammarström: Vocals/Bass Jimmy Ahovalli: Lead Guitar Simon Olovsson: Guitar Erik Röjås: Drums

By 2006 the line-up (L-R in photo) was Katy Rimmer, Kath Small, Ruth Darby, Sarah Field. Hird/Rimmer and Brown/Small appear to be changes of name on marriage with Field replacing Luckhurst. Link | 1 | 1 | Mxyztplk | Mxyztplk | London | Mxyztplk 1980-83 psych rock group | Mxyztplk | Formed in 1978, as the spirit of ’77 faded, London based Mxyztplk (originally Groop IV) found their direction scavenging record shop bargain bins where they discovered a sonic cornucopia of mid ‘60s bands who had been sidelined by the prog and stadium rock excesses of the 1970s. The band drew inspiration from British ‘60s psychedelia, such as Syd Barrett’s Pink Floyd, Soft Machine, The Yardbirds and The Creation and often played at experimental film evenings. Their first studio recordings were made around 1980, by chance under the auspices of 1960s engineer/producer George Chkiantz, who had worked with The Small Faces and Jimi Hendrix. They adopted a new name for 1982 – Mxyztplk, derived from DC Comics’ Superman. This unpronounceable moniker led to some notoriety, a mention by John Peel and outraged letters appearing in the music press. Regularly headlining The Rock Garden, further gigs followed, including Dingwalls, Jackson's Lane, Upstairs at Ronnie Scott’s, The Clarendon and the new psychedelic club, Alice in Wonderland. The band was about to be signed by post-punk label Human Records, when the company went bust and the newly recorded tapes were almost lost. Instead, they self-released a cassingle and were featured in a compilation album alongside The Sex Gang Children. Their growing audience sometimes included Charlie Harper (UK Subs) and Rat Scabies (The Damned). Though things were progressing, two band members left to go to university and no format was found to re-invigorate the band. |

As descriptive as this sounds, it should be added that most people label them as ska-boosted funkish rock'n'roll. Link | 1 | 1 | Morgan Visconti | Morgan Visconti | Morgan Visconti | Morgan was born the son of producer Tony Visconti and singer Mary Hopkin. He is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, songwriter and singer as well as a recording engineer and computer geek. A London native, Morgan moved to New York at 17 and while gigging with various NYC bands he gained experience in recording studios as assistant engineer, programmer and session musician. Throughout his early 20′s, Morgan wrote numerous scores for TV commercials and channel branding (A&E), finally becoming a co-founder of human music and sound design in 2001. In addition to the hundreds of television commercials Morgan has scored, he has co-written and produced songs and albums for various recording artists (The Billygoats) as well as releasing his own single “Could You” in 2012. The song, which was written for the Dove self-esteem TV campaign, received enough positive reviews from the public that it inspired a full length version to be fleshed out and released. Two additional singles “Shine” and “Follow The Arrow”, which Morgan co-wrote with singer/songwriter Rosi Golan for Pantene and JC Penney respectively, were also released though human following similar acclaim. In 2010 Morgan co-produced an EP, titled “Glow” with Ben’s Brother in the UK. He co-wrote and produced the album “You Look Familar“ with mother, Mary Hopkin and along with his father, Tony, co-produced an album called “I Am Not” by his sister, Jessica Lee Morgan. In 2011 Morgan co-wrote and co-produced several singles with production team, Anniemouse, including “Bang A Gong” with Shockolady. This year Morgan and his father, Tony, have released a single under the banner, T. Rex – Regeneration, titled “Childlike Men”, which Morgan reconstructed using 100% sounds and performances from original T. Rex mutitrack tapes. The Visconti team are preparing a full length album for a 2013 release. Morgan passionately pursues photography and cinematography. To co-incide with the release of “You Look Familiar”, Morgan shot and edited the video for the single, “The Earth Turns” by Mary and Morgan.

Link | 1 | 1 | Trees and Timber | Trees and Timber | Tacoma | Trees And Timber | It's the timeless tale told countless times, since before your great-great-great grandfather's mother met your great-great-great grandfather's uncle. Girl meets boy, boy meets girl, and seven years later, they start a Rock 'n' Roll band. Joe Baker and Gwen Lewandoski started Trees and Timber in 2011 after discovering they had a knack for layering catchy melodies and hooks over sweet pop songs and driving Rock and Roll. Two months after Gwen first plucked the strings of a bass guitar, they recorded their first song, Eskimo Sun. It was a year before they showed up in front of a live audience, by then well-armed with an arsenal of catchy, energetic pop songs, a 500 pound Hammond, and a drummer. In 2013, the now 3-piece Trees and Timber recorded the five song EP, Electric Gypsy Lovechild with producer Dick Rossetti and the great Don Farwell at Earwig Studio. Stories from those contentious two days of recording have become the stuff of legend: fist fights, freak outs, multiple drug overdoses, and crowds of parasitic hangers-on. All said and done, they had their EP, and were on the search for a new drummer. They dubbed their sound "Aggressive Pop Supreme". Not until May of that same year, with the addition of Paul Rybicki, was this Tacoma trio able to live up to that self-proclaimed title. They began writing and recording in earnest, completing their first tour de force/magnum opus/masterpiece in 2014. Its called Hello, My Name is Love. You should buy it. It's pretty damn good.

He studied Product Design at The "George Enescu" Arts University of Iași, currently living as a freelance artist in Bucharest, Romania. Either if he's working on specialty movie props and prototypes or not, Ioan often finds a mental refuge into sound creation. It's a mind-soothing mantra, starting with an initial phrase, tweaking and rearranging it into a result often different from the initial impulse, as his thoughts also rearrange. As he has a special consideration for rhythm, repetition, cycle, the name "Cycler" occurred.
