But while hitchhiking through Germany, a melody and a few words popped into his head and never left: “we’ll write a book worth reading!” – the first line of what would become the first song Daniel ever wrote and A House for Lions’ statement of purpose, “Let Back”. In that moment, he realized it might be possible to get off of the fence and create a project of his own; at least, it would be fun to try. Daniel had played guitar since he was a kid, but had no experience playing in a band. So he’d have to get better, (“we’ll pass the test, no cheating!”) but he’d also need to seek out kindred spirits to flesh-out the sound of his bare bones experiments. In early 2010 he found just that in an unlikely group of strangers. Adding guitarist and designer Mike Nissen, bass player Eric McCann and drummer Joe Luisi, A House for Lions has developed a sound that according to The Deli Magazine “manages to blend the sleeker side of angsty 90s rock with the laid-back instrumentation and heart-string pulling melodies you might expect from an alt-country band”. Within six months, the band had recorded their first EP I Want Us To Be Remembered, with LA producer Raymond Richards (Local Natives) and were off and running. From there the band garnered rave reviews from the LA Times and Billboard.com, made impressive debuts at CMJ and SXSW and established themselves as one of Los Angeles’ most promising young bands. A House For Lions recently completed work on their debut full-length album with Grammy Award-winning producer Tom Biller (Silversun Pickups, Elliot Smith, Fiona Apple) after completing an innovative DIY crowdfunding campaign to fund the making of the album. By successfully bypassing the traditional crowdfunding platforms (Kickstarter, et al) and building their campaign from scratch, they’ve impressed the indie music world at large and attracted flattering press including an interview on NPR, articles from Digital Music News, Hypebot and many others. Not content to rest on any laurels, these brothers-in-arms remain dedicated to creating and sustaining a distinct vision in an uncertain musical landscape. “To all the new beginnings/to all the screws unspinning!”

At the age of five he joined his parents in Geneva, Switzerland, where they had emigrated two years earlier. Brought up on jazz and classical music, instruments, notes and melody, became a deeply influential part of his world from early childhood. At the age of ten he attended his first music classes at the conservatoire, where it was soon clear he would be one to follow autodidact path. Thanks to his elder brother, he was introduced to artists who play an important role in his own influences such as Prince, Massive Attack, Portishead and Eurythmics. In his teen years, he joined forces with schoolmates and formed a funk oriented band named Anticlockwise. Two years later, with a driving desire to broaden his musical horizons, he moved to to London for six months where he enjoyed many opportunities to jam with musicians from all over the world. His debut album was released in Portugal (2005). From One Human Being to Another blends acoustic and electronic sounds, half-way between trip-hop and drum’n’bass with distant echoes of jazz and orchestral music. Speaking of this album he says “this is not a one-hour journey,but rather eleven journeys of five minutes each” .These journeys tackle the issues of absence, melancholy, and love, mirroring the moments he went through when he lost both his father and brother within five years of each other. The album was praised by critics and considered to be one of the best of the year. Composer, performer and multi-instrumentalist Mourah soon was solicited by a number of important national artists such as Pilar, Coldfinger and Dj Ferro. In 2006, the EP New Versions came out displaying songs of the first album remixed by Portuguese and Swiss producers. During this period, he toured Portugal, Switzerland, and Poland, where the song J.Butterfly became a big hit upon its use in a TV commercial. Mourah has also collaborated with the Swiss theater company Andrayas founded by artist Markus Schmid, for whom he composed the music of two shows between 2008 and 2012. In late 2011, he began to develop his ideas on the forthcoming and much awaited album Kardia. It is expected to be released in the end of 2014 under the label Mole/Listening Pearls.

Pandai Besi re-arranged and re-forged nine songs into a complex musical composition, presenting new interpretations that are completely different from the original style of Efek Rumah Kaca’s music . The birth of Pandai Besi starts from Joyland Festival (June 2012), when Efek Rumah Kaca played a musical format that had a more ‘crowded formation’ because it was reinforced by some musician friends: Poppie Airil (Bass), Andi Hans Sabarudin (guitar), M. Asranur (Piano/Keyboard), and Augustinus Pandji Mahardika (Trumpet / Flute). The name Pandai Besi was officially used when they appeared at “Superbad Vol.45″ (November 2012). A tight concert schedule, plus Adrian’s ( Efek Rumah Kaca’s original bassist ) health conditions ( that never healed completely) hampered the smooth completion of Efek Rumah Kaca’s 3rd album, but it has not at all dampened the creativity of Akbar and Cholil to continue; they tried to find many ways to refuse boredom. Limitations of musical skills, routine office work and the health condition of Adrian became a trigger for Cholil and Akbar to find the right gap in order to continue working. As if to challenge themselves, they invited four musician friends who were deliberately selected for their different backgrounds and musical tastes to ‘recycle’ Efek Rumah Kaca songs . From this process Cholil and Akbar hope to find fresh energy and new inspiration. Two times a week practicing in the studio on a regular basis, they finally managed to forge nine selected songs from two ERK albums. Over time, these formation also increased with the merger of Nastasha Abigail and Irma Hidayana on vocal division. Due to overwhelming requests from the public who wanted to have a physical record from this album, on June 29th, 2013 Demajors Records officially released the Daur Baur album, and at the same time provided an opportunity for those who missed the crowdfunding program to have the album. Finally, in August 1st 2013, Pandai Besi had their first concert to launch and celebrete the recording.

Since the beginning, the main concept that characterizes the band is the sound: hours of jam were spent to analyze the meaning, the proportion, the idea. The initial attitude was entirely devoted to an instrumental improvisation, and was later structured and ordered to create an exact mix of vocal and instrumental melody. They have played shows all around Europe sharing the stage with, among the others: Killing Joke, Nadja, Bellini, Dyse, Tying Tiffany, Mombu; they have composed soundtracks for independent films and an EP released in February 2011 sold out. In May 2012 they have released their first album: “Dopo la quiete” which has received a great response and reviews. In “Dopo La Quiete” there's also a collaboration with the independent Videofactory “Quadratino Pericoloso” which has produced a DVD entitled “Island”: the images captured in Iceland by Quadratino Pericoloso with the instrumental music of the band created something strange, unique. The DVD has been recorded in the Municipal Theatre of Serramanna (Sardinia) in February 2012. On April 10th '14 they have released the new album “YOMI”. “YOMI” is a 50 minutes of chaotic and doomish layers that explore human attitudes. “Yomi” is “a dark, suffering, thoughtful” work in which the strong “noise-rock” and “post-rock” influences coexist in “drone”, “doom”, “space-rock” and “alternatives” vortices. The instrumental concept has been broadened and deepened, marked by ethereal vocals, sometimes poignant. Special guest on the baritone and alto sax, Luca T. Mai (ZU / Mombu) which, like a pachyderm, manages the moods in “π” (pi-greek). Mixed and mastered by Valerio Fisik in the “hombrelobo studios” in Rome, “Yomi” is a journey into the human soul; a concentration of “mixed and crushed” feelings that could overwhelm everyone.

The next step was to write songs, find members and begin jamming in the studio, starting this new project. The first two songs were ”My Fall” and ”Forever Slave”. The second one was rejected too soon, when new songs were created, that were closer to the musical style that the band intended to follow. At the end of 2009 the band line-up was Evelyn – female vocals , Jon Soti – male vocals , Frangiskos – guitars , Gus – keyboards , Renos – drums, Dimitris – session bass-player, and the name was Fallen Arise. In December of 2009 Fallen Arise gave its 1st gig in Athens. 2010: This year begins with some changes in band’s line up. Renos left the band for personal reasons. Chris Stratigos (Sorrowful Angels – Secret Illusion) would be the man behind the drum-kit for the two following shows in Corfu (6 March 2010) & Athens (7 March 2010). There was also another session musician in bass guitar, Nick (Wolfcry). Both shows were awesome and the band was really excited. One month later (April 2010) two members joined to complete the family, Thanos – drums & Maria – bass guitar and then, one of the most important gig came. Fallen Arise would be the opening act for XANDRIA, in Athens (8th of May). The show was amazing and the crown very warm with the band. Later in the summer of 2010 it was time for Fallen Arise to recording their first EP. ”ETERNAL” was recorded in CFN Studios by Dion Christodoulatos and at the same time the band gave another show in Kastoria (3rd GOLDEN APPLE FESTIVAL) in the 14th of July. The last show for 2010 was a year after the first show (18th of December). Same place, beautiful people, amazing night!! 2011: This year begins powerfully for the band. ”Eternal” EP was released and the band gave a great party with lots of friends in RAINBOW ROCK BAR in the 4th of February. ”Eternal” EP received very good reviews from Greek and other European webzines and also from Greek METAL HAMMER (8/10). The first and the last show for 2011 was in 10th ROCK n AID FESTIVAL with INNERWISH, SCAR OF THE SUN & KEADO MORES. In the summer of 2011 the band decided to enter the studio for the 1st full length album. Unfortunately, shortly before the beginning of the recordings, Evelyn left the band, for having completely different philosophy from the other band members. A few days later, the auditions for the new singer had just begun while the band was recording the songs for the 1st album. For a while Milagros Caceres Diaz was the new singer for Fallen Arise, but once again things didn’t work out. So, Fallen Arise and Milagros took separate ways. So did Jon. 2012: The new year had begun very strong. Recording sessions for the 1st album were great and feelings were more than optimistic. We are very proud of the collaboration with DEVASOUNDZ STUDIOS, as also with Fotis Benardo (SixforNine, ex-Septic Flesh , ex-Chaostar) & Christos Antoniou (Septic Flesh), Thimios Krikos (Innerwish). We also had another member in the family, our new singer Spyla! 2013: Mixing and mastering sessions of the new album were in progress and went better and better day by day. Finally in May of 2013 the new album was ready and the band is searching for a label for the release of the new album. By June of 2013 Fallen Arise welcomed two new members. Aggelos Mal (bass guitar) took Maria’s place, when she left the band for personal reasons and after 1,5 year of playing with many session male vocalists, the band welcomed Christos Kontoulis as the new male vocalist of the band. 2014: It was a great year for the band. ”Ethereal” debut album received very good feedback from media. The band gave very successfull gigs all over Greece.The most importants were at Noisehead Festival Vol.1 which took place in Athens (@Kyttaro Club), UndeRock Festival at Tripolis and last the band was the opening act for OUTLOUD’S gig at November 16th 2014. After that, Fallen Arise entered the studio again for a new album. 2015: It was a very creative year for Fallen Arise. The band entered once again Devasoundz Studios to record “Ethereal” ‘s successor. The album consists of 13 brand new tracks, and lyrics comprise a tale that takes us back in the Victorian Era. A tale that discusses the human mind and body decay, through a fiction. In ths album we had the honour to work with 40 excellent musicians that played the orchestral parts in our new album. Orchestral recordings, as well as mixing and mastering sessions took place in Zero Gravity Studios. Fully satisfied as we were with our collaboration with Devasoundz Studios in our debut album, we chose to work again with Fotis Benardo for the final mixing and mastering sessions of the album. Another happy event for the band is the collaboration with a new and rising label, ROAR! ! (Rock Of Angels Records) who will release our new album entitled “Adeline” on October 20th 2015.

Anders Nordin, a 19-year-old student at the local polytechnic school "real" synthesizer and starts working on songs. The years he spent working chords out on his organ now help him master the elaborate machinery and its potential hit-making-keys. For want of a singing voice to go with the music, Anders turns to one of his friends, 23-year-old Göran Bergström, who had been writing a great deal of lyrics for other local bands and who had a go or two with the mic - handling business. Tired of a local scene, consisting of a wide range of cover-band-constellations - and that alone! - Anders and Göran decided to go for originality and visuality. And to move fast! Within a few months, a C-46 MC entitled Lonely Hearts And Backbeats was brought to completion. This seminal effort of creativity featured 11 original compositions plus a faithful rendition of New Order's Subculture. The style of the self-penned songs ranged from vintage electropop ditties to contemporary clubby-type-music. The EBM-ish Easy Come, Easy Go also introduced Roger Almén, 19-year-old friend to the duo, on vocals. Roger also provided the lyrics and was later to join the group on stage for a one-off gig. Towards autumn of that year, Sidewalk Cindy had developed into a visually effective pop-outfit. Roger left his part-time membership, and a female vocalist named Sussi Bern came along to join the duo for their second release of 1990, painfully Trendy. The MC offered a new set of poppy and hook rich tunes of largely the same "feel" as those appearing on their debut; however, Sussie's voice and songwriting contributions, Hillstreet No 7 and Alone Without You added a somewhat more "continental" disco tinge to the group's sound. The cassette also includes a cover of Little Richard's classic rock anthem Lucille, a song that proved to be a very popular part of SWC's live performances throughout the year. 1991 proved to be the year when what was supposed to happen did not happen i.e. a major breakthrough. Sussi left the band early in the year, and the boys went on writing songs for yet another MC. Moving further away from their original pop sound , SWC now where exploring dance territory. Depeche Mode's See You was taken into techno-club-land, as where the greatest part of the new material eg. The 808 drum machine sound was all over the place and SWC's was too, gigging and recording, rehearsing and just about every other thing that popstar-wannabes do was being done now. But alas! the record companies turned their four songs down, and things were beginning to not happen a wee bit too much for the lads. By contributing the song A Hundred Things To Say to the Limur Records' electro compilation, Faces And Images (1991), SWC did at least manage to draw some attention to their material. However, more was needed to keep them going. 1992, Anders got himself a job and soon left the hometown in quest of other challenges than musical ones. Göran left for university. In the autumn, however, they got together to record the MC "Underwear". which sported some old and some freshly written songs - to sort of round things up a bit. There has never been any talk of calling things a day, and even though the duo has been inactive for the last few years it is by no means all over yet. On the contrary, rumour now has it (1998!) that Anders is currently engaged in writing new material. And Göran is probably out there sharpening his lyrical pencil once more. The band released only one studio album, [i]Dreams[/i] on Tzadik in 2001. To record this follow-up on ONJQ's debut full-length [r=221780], Quintet core members (Tsugami, Kikuchi, Yoshihide, Mizutani and Yoshigaki) were joined by [a=Sachiko M] (sine wave), [a=Tatsuki Masuko] (synthesizers) and guest vocalists [a=Jun Togawa] and [a=Phew]. Otomo Yoshihide's New Jazz Ensemble first appeared live on stage in summer 2004, after [a=Naruyoshi Kikuchi] left Otomo's band. He was replaced with [a=Alfred Harth] (reeds). ONJE was also periodically joined by [a=Kumiko Takara] (vibraphone). On one occasion ONJE appeared as [b]Otomo Yoshihide's New Jazz Ensemble Film Special[/b] with additional members [a=Tatsuro Kondo] (harmonica, keyboards), [a=Taisei Aoki] (trombone), and [a=Hirohiko Otsubo] (contrabass). They played live soundtrack for [i]Keisatsukan[/i] silent movie. Ensemble also had big tour in winter-spring 2005, performing ~20 shows in Japan, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Slovenia, Italy, Austria and UK with [a=Axel Dörner] (trumpet), [a=Mats Gustafsson] (tenor sax, bariton sax), [a=Ko Ishikawa] (sho), [a=Cor Fuhler] (piano) and [a=Kahimi Karie] (vocal). Soon after that tour both ONJE and ONJQ were permanently transformed into ~10-piece [b]Otomo Yoshihide's New Jazz Orchestra[/b].

Nik first started in the music business doing promotions for Island Records where he stayed for 5 years until he started doing consultancy at Verve & Universal Jazz. In 2001 he begun running promotional company Mukatsuku Pr whilst also doing A&R for [l=Exceptional] whilst working freelance as a music consultant for some labels. In 2005 he started working as a Japanese music buyer for Juno (www.juno.co.uk) where he still works and in 2006 he started his label Mukatsuku Records which he runs part time. As a DJ Nik has toured in Japan 13 times supporting his various compilations and single releases. His first major tour in Japan was in 2001 where he was part of the Brasil Nights tour around country with [a=Victor Davies] and [a=Studio Apartment]. He has been special guest on Tokyo's Shibuya FM on three occasions and was a guest on [a=Jazztronik]'s radio show (Tokyo & Fukuoka) in May 2005 and played at the Room Club in Tokyo 2007 New Years Eve. Nik has also had DJ tours in Australia, played in Canada, Russia, Poland, Singapore, and extensively all over Europe. Nik also played at the World Famous Big Chill Festival in Summer 2004 at Eastnor Castle. As a radio DJ in 2004 he did a national BBC radio 1 hour long music special and he now regularly records two radio shows; one with Nigel Prankster called the Forwardsbackwards show on Milkaudio, the other called the Konnichi Wah Wah show with Dom Servini on Samurai FM. Since 2008 Nik has been concentrating more on his limited edition vinyl only label, Mukatsuku Records. Married to [a=Yuki Weston].

The album is already garnering rave reviews, and truly captures the energy and versatility that have endeared the Cats to their fans and solidified the group as one of the region's top bands on the scene. The Cats' successful debut CD, "The Big One," was released independently in the summer of '99. It was one of the top-selling CDs at Omaha's Homers record stores that summer, and was recognized as one of the top albums of the year by Swanktown, a radio show in the Twin Cities.
