Link | 1 | 1 | Disbreakz | Disbreakz | Canada | breakcore | Disbreakz | Badanijel “Frustrated by the fact that there’s no breakcore scene in Croatia, Danijel a.k.a. Badanijel a.k.a. Disbreakz decided to start a musical r/evolution in this part of the world and so he began to make his own music in 2008. Influenced by all genres of the diy underground music scene, such as… breakcore / mashup / jungle / gabber / glitch / amen break / rave / noise / IDM / speedcore / dubstep / breakstep / punkdub / screamo / sludge / trash-d-beat-hardkor punk / mathcore / avant-garde / mathrock / crossover / post hardcore-rock-metal / chaotic hardcore / jazzcore / ravecore / nintendocore / noisecore / Dusko Lokin Vs. Licke drvosjece Vs. Tajchi, eurodance & ultimate 80s & 90s disco power pop bits, Disbreakz decided to present his vision of breakcore. Disbreakz is also influenced by ultra mega disco/pop hits from the 80s and 90s, so he wanted to create a mix of fast glitchy jungle breaks combined with crazy disco/pop vocal cutz. Out of contempt towards boring “normal” music, Disbreakz introduces fresh new ideas, bad breakz and sarcastic humour into his remixes, which can be enjoyed by people of all ages;). The r/evolution has begun…“ Writen by Tajchi, pop queen, for Dis(co)breakz |

Link | 1 | 1 | Justin Lavash | Justin Lavash | Justin Lavash | Justin Lavash (born London 1968) has been based in Prague for ten years and during that time has established himself as a must-see act on the Czech music scene and abroad. His music crosses borders - somewhere between blues, folk and jazz. His phenomenal guitar playing has left many audiences wondering how so much polyphony can be made by one man on one instrument. Lavash identifies himself as a fingerstyle guitarist, following in the footsteps of British folk guitar gurus like Richard Thompson or John Martyn, but he is of a younger generation and traces of New Wave and even dance culture can be found in his music. Prior to living in the Czech Republic Lavash worked as a guitarist in south London's jazz scene in the 90s and later in the last years of the British Cabaret scene, backing acts whose names shall not be mentioned.

Link | 1 | 1 | Sågskära | Sågskära | Sweden | Sågskära | The folk music group Sågskära was founded in 1981. The name Sågskära comes from an old nursery rhyme from Linneryd in Småland, which Marie Länne-Persson, one of the members of the group, learnt as a child. Through the years, Sågskära has provided an important model for groups in folk music from southern Sweden. A distinctive feature of the group's music is a rather bold contrast between mediaeval drones and the supposedly simple three-chord harmonies of the 19th century. This can also be seen by the great variety of instruments played by the group, for example fiddles, guitar, hummel (fretted dulcimer), hurdy-gurdy, harp and hornpipe... Sågskära take most of their repertoire from Småland. It has often been learnt in "the traditional way" by word of mouth directly from older singers and musicians. The songs have become a hallmark of the group's music, but at the same time three of the members of the group - Marie, Toste and Magnus - have developed their own distinctive repertoire of dance tunes from the south of Sweden. The members of Sågskära have changed a bit during the years, but the original aim still remains - to play folk music from the south of Sweden in a playful and individual way! (from www.drone.se)

Link | 1 | 1 | Dead Kid Harvester | Dead Kid Harvester | New Zealand | Dead Kid Harvester | Dead Kid Harvester is a solo avant-garde/experimental/noise artist with a complete disregard for any form of music convention such as harmony or tempo. The primary instruments used are vocals and kitchen utensils. The life of a song typically begins with the lyrics, written with no consideration for rhythm or beat. Dead Kid Harvester takes influences ranging from doom metal to drone, industrial and old school punk, and polarizes them into an industrial cacophony of noise. Recorded samples and segments are combined haphazardly into songs, with frequent use of pitch shift and time stretch effects. Dead Kid Harvester was formed in Porirua, New Zealand in December 2000, later moving to Auckland. The name Dead Kid Harvester is a combination of two nicknames acquired at high school, and is no less off-putting than the music itself. The preferred lyrical themes are insanity, horror and philosophy. Dead Kid Harvester makes use of both jarring and subtle variations between channels to invoke uneasiness and disarray.

Link | 0 | 2 | Thembi Soddell | Thembi Soddell | Thembi Soddell | Thembi Soddell Thembi Soddell’s volatile sonic worlds morph, shift, rupture and dis-rupture into filmic atmospheres with a distinctly disquieting edge. Contorted into unreal environments and luscious masses of sonic textures, her sound palate sources field recordings, instruments and electronics to be suggestive but often unidentifiable. Her compositions exploit the dynamic extremes, toying with the listeners’ sense of expectation and generating anticipatory suspense. She does work for CD, gallery installation, and live performance, having been involved in many of Australia's major sound festivals, such as What is Music?, Liquid Architecture and The Now Now Festival of Spontaneous Music. She has twice toured Europe as part of a collaborative duo with cellist, Anthea Caddy. She is a graduate with honours in sound art from RMIT's Fine Art Department. She also assists in running the Australian experimental music label, Cajid Media.

Link | 1 | 1 | Iori's Eyes | Iori's Eyes | Italy | Italian band | Iori's Eyes | Iori’s Eyes is a Milan based duo that delivers gentle pop harmonies crafted by vintage keyboards, dreamy and feverish guitar chords, electric whispers with a dub and soul touch. Iori’s Eyes joyful pop music yet with an intimate and nocturnal mood is perfectly condensed in the 12 tracks of their debut full length album Double Soul, an elegant and smart album in which they whip up similarly nonchalant beats to jj and Blake and they master the part organic, part digital dream pop that Beach House and their cronies have created in recent years. However the biggest and most direct influence of the Italian duo that still do feel very modern is the cream of British trip-hop that's on their choppy beats and vocals. The band has raised much interest not only in Italy but internationally. The duo have opened shows for Blonde Redhead, JJ, Local Natives, !!! (Chk Chk Chk), CocoRosie, Goose, The Wild Beasts, Noah And The Whale and Nouvelle Vague. Line-up: Clod (vox, keyboards), Sofia (bass, keyboards, vox) Live member: Giacomo (drums, percussions, backing vocals) |

Link | 1 | 1 | Lorne Burden | Lorne Burden | Lorne Burden | Lorne Burden It has been said that Lorne Burden was born with a vinyl record in one hand and a laptop in other. Although this might be a stretch of the truth, it's not far from it. Lorne (Munchman or Munch to his people) spent much of his early years messing about in big brothers' world of music. In 1989, Lawrence, Lenny and Lynell Burden began the their musical journey as the recording group Octave One, with 5 year old Lorne tagging along for the ride. Watching his "Techno" siblings bang on keyboards, drum machines, turntables and computer keys during his formidable years (sneaking in a bang or two himself), has made him a child of the sound. In 1996 at the age of 12, Lorne and his then 15 year old bro' Lance (that's right there are five of them) spent the day at Lenny's apartment. During their brief stay, the 'terrible two' decided they could improve on a track the older Burdens were working on, (without their knowledge of course). The boys' musical ability impressed their big bros', so much so, they kept their work on the Random Noise Generation's "Last Campaign" track. Now Munch was more than a passenger on the journey. In 1999 he entered into the Mass Media program at the Detroit Public Schools' Golightly Center. The same year, he became a fixture on the school systems radio station WDTR. Now he was DJing, on the radio no less. Lorne also took his turntable skills to the basements, backyards, a teen dance parties throughout Detroit, bringing with him his unique urban mix of Hip Hop, R&B, Techno, and Electro. In 2000, Munchman teamed up with Aux 88's DJ Di'jital to form the turntable experience they called the Direct Beat Assassins. The DB Assassins kicked it into full gear, bringing the pure Booty and Electro vibe to the Detroit party scene. Catching the ear of Carl Craig, he made the Assassins part of the inaugural Detroit Electronic Music Festival. Not to miss out on his talents, Lawrence, Lynell and Lenny gave the young Lorne the honor of playing live with them as Octave One during 430 West 10th Anniversary Party (celebrating 10 years of the existence of their own record label). Impressed by the vibe they had as a live unit, Lynell pushed him into the position he had left vacate in the group years earlier, making him the new third member of Octave One.

Link | 1 | 1 | Echano | Echano | Echano | Martyn Bone Hailing from central southern England, Echano is unfortunately-named Martyn Bone, an 18-year-old keen-yet-picky trance enthusiast and amateur producer. His passion for the genre that is trance probably began part-way through the year of 1999, when the original instrumental version of Fragma's 'Toca Me' led to the impulse purchase of a thoroughly decent compilation CD. Perhaps a little sad, but certainly fortunate as he was hooked! Soon it wasn't long before he found an interest in producing his own music. This became more of a solid hobby towards the end of 2001. In terms of musical development and progress however it's taken until mid-2003 for things to really gain momentum. Following an initial collaboration with Fin Nikolai Rasimus (formerly Beat Project and now OrgaNik), the Al Azar partnership was formed. Meanwhile Echano enjoyed his first glimmers of popularity with summer track Tranquility and a vocal remix of Madonna's Frozen. With subsequent productions and remixes, both Echano and Al Azar have generated more solid popularity; Nothing to Live For is now a forthcoming release on Motion Music, and has so far gained support from Armin van Buuren, Solar Stone, The Thrillseekers, Jon O'Bir, Niklas Harding, Marc West, Above & Beyond and others with a remix from Gareth Emery alias GTR.

Link | 1 | 1 | Cthulhu Rise | Cthulhu Rise | Ukraine | Cthulhu Rise | Using their quite diverse musical background, Cthulhu Rise members are experimenting in some metallic alloy of progressive rock, jazz, alternative metal and mathcore. Having released several mp3-demo recordings in 2008 and 2009, Cthulhu Rise were always developing their own style, so the band's character and sound changed significantly. By end of 2009 Cthulhu Rise decide to turn to instrumental music. First album by Cthulhu Rise is planned to Autumn of 2010, but for different reasons recording is delayed, so the first LP titled 42 is ready only end of 2011 and released by Musea on June 29th, 2012. At the same time Cthulhu Rise is cooking tracks for a new LP in order to start recording in 2013. The debut LP of the arguably most unusual band in Ukraine is a view on 1970-ties progressive rock from a modern standpoint, logically approached as an alchemic alloy of avant rock melodies reminding Univers Zero, broken guitar riffs like The Dillinger Escape Plan, tense atmosphere of Present, and keyboard dissonances a la R. Fripp. Cthulhu Rise seems to be under influence of vintage art rock, modern intellectual metal, and free jazz – to equal extent. In spite of superficial impression of complex and overcharged music, this is not math but psych. Cthulhu Rise examines concomitance of formidable and ridiculous within the same realm. This is where modal jazz meets mathcore, while drive of metal riffs coexists with free improv motion. The LP titled 42 is a self-ironic investigation into dusty closets of human brain, the place where the quest for Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything starts. In early 2013 Cthulhu Rise change the bass player but do not change their plans and proceed to recording the new LP consisting of 9 tracks planned to be released in 2015.

Link | 1 | 1 | Nemoy | Nemoy | Nemoy | André Seiler Mysterious are the paths on which music travels, and one of them leads into and out of the basement of Nemoy, born and grown up in Steg, a small village embedded in the Swiss canton of Valais, a stone's throw away from ticino and italy, a place distinguishing itself through excellent wines, rugged mountains, much sun, some sort of desert-like lonelyness and a strong company between people. Nemoy is obsessed with instruments, addicted to collecting and learning how to play and incorporate them into his musical vision. synthesizers, pianos, organs, horns, basses... you name it. Even when he gets to grab the mic with his rapgroup "Stockitown", he often adresses the topics that make his world: samples, breakbeats, their sources, beatmaking, vibing to music... Nemoy is a child and devotee of the great contributors in Jazz, Funk, Reggae, Soul... or short: Black music in its many old and new outlets.
