Link | 1 | 2 | Aidean | Aidean | Aidean | Great hard rock band from Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg formed in 1987. “Promises” album by Aidean was released on the Break label in 1988. The songs are great – catchy and full to the brim with both guitar crunch and keyboard blasts. Coming at you from the Bonfire and Pretty Maids school of riffs, they are the typical European melodic rock band, with a big sound and a heavy handed approach. The album starts with a good solid track “Promises”, “Tokyo” is a high peak in here, “Rocks You Up” apart from rock you it has a catchy chorus and definetely a highlight, “Fell In Love Again” is a strong ballad, “Livin’ Lovin’Losin’” is AOR, “Children Of The Night” seems 2 be their “song”, quite good indeed.. “Diana” & ”Do You call Again” are both faves, “Aidean Medley” is a crazy song, quite a filler honestly. Unfortunately the band did not survive beyond 1990, despite some local success in Germany during 1988/89. The album was re-released in 2000 on the Point Music label, but this time with better packaging, three bonus tracks, and a nice booklet fold history of the band. This one isn't going to be around for too long, so get it while you can.

Li Khan The names used for this project were: Erwin Bauer - Synthesizer, Organ, Guitar Bernd Barth - Synthesizer, Voice, Effects Tina S. - Voice Supposedly a lost treasure of Germany's Krautrock days, but in fact it's an elaborately done mock project by the brain behind [a83224] ([a458652]) and his then girlfriend [a=Tina Schlebusch]. They thought up a fake biography, a fake story of how these unreleased mastertapes were found in a studio in Spain by a former associate of the band and such. Even the artwork looks like it could have been made in 1971. Several websites list this project as a real release from 1971 (it was recorded in 1988/89 and released the first time on vinyl in 1989.)

"I'm creating music in the small town of Eskilstuna, in the north of Europe, more exactly in Sweden. I started as a bassplayer when I was around 13 - then began elektronic music seriously around 2000, though I fooled around with some trakkers as we all did in the mid 90's. The music I make is just what comes out from my head when I turn my studio on, I like hardware and really hate that I've put myself in the position where I need a computer to create - the hate seems to grow stronger every day. I think that probably is it, now I will do more sound-destruktion! Everyone should!"

Changed their name to Ed Banger And The Nosebleeds in early 1977 with the following line-up: Edmund 'Ed Banger' Garrity (vocals), Vincent 'Vini' Reilly (guitar), Phillip 'Toby' Tomanov (drums), and Pete Crooks (bass). In late 1977 [a=Billy Duffy] replaced [a=Vini Reilly] and [a=Morrissey] replaced Ed Banger and subsequently they shortened the group's name to The Nosebleeeds. [a=Ed Banger] ended up in a later incarnation of [a=Slaughter and The Dogs] while [a=Vini Reilly] formed [a=Durutti Column]. [a=Pete Crooks (2)] and [a=Toby Toman] continued on as The Nosebleeds. "Billy knew this guy Morrissey, who ran the New York Dolls Fan Club and wrote lyrics - and got him to join The Nosebleeds, although he had never sung before. The pair of them dumped all the group's old songs and wrote an entirely new set like 'Peppermint Heaven' and 'I Think I'm Ready For The Electric Chair'. The audience was perplexed; it was a strange band!" -Pete Frame, 1989 The Nosebleeds did two gigs one at the Ritz [support to Magazine] and a Rabid Records benefit at the Manchester Polytechnic before dissolving in May of 1978. After the group split up Morrissey went on to form [a=The Smiths], Toby joined [a=Blue Orchids], and Pete Crooks joined up with Vini Reilly in [a=Durutti Column].

He grew up in a musical family and started composing at the age of 13. His son, [a=Bernard Gann], is a guitarist in the New York transcendental black metal band [a=Liturgy (2)]. Gann received a B.Mus. degree from [l=The Oberlin Conservatory of Music] in 1977, as well as M.Mus. (1981) and D.Mus. (1983) degrees from the [l=Northwestern University]. His principal teacher was [a=Peter Gena], and additionally, Kyle studied composition with [a=Ben Johnston] (1984–86) and briefly [a=Morton Feldman]. In 1980, Kyle Gann co-founded a short-lived radical performing group Chicago Interarts Ministry with [a=Phil Winsor] and Peter Gena. He also worked for the New Music America festival in 1981 and lectured at [l=The School Of The Art Institute Of Chicago] in 1986–88. After a few part-time teaching positions at Bucknell University, [l=Brooklyn College], and [l=Columbia University], Gann joined the Bard College faculty in 1997. As a composer, Gann writes microtonal electronic music, rhythmically complex compositions for Disklavier (computer-driven acoustic piano), as well as solo piano and ensemble pieces. Most of his music expresses the concept of repeating loops, ostinatos, and isorhythms going out of phase with each other; he sought inspiration in the studies of astrology (particularly [a=Dane Rudhyar]'s writings) and Native American music, such as Hopi, Zuni, and other Southwest Pueblo tribes. He started writing for The Village Voice in 1986 and had a weekly column on "new music" there until 1997. Kyle Gann also worked as a journalist at the Chicago Reader, Tribune, Sun-Times, and [l=The New York Times]. As a musicologist, Gann authored over 3,000 articles for 45 publications, including original studies on [a=La Monte Young] (in [l=Perspectives of New Music]), [a=Henry Cowell], [a=John Cage], [a=Edgard Varèse], [a=Earle Brown], [a=Julius Eastman], [a=Mikel Rouse], [a=John Luther Adams] and other prominent American composers. He published a few books, such as The Music of Conlon Nancarrow ([l=Cambridge University Press] '95), American Music in the 20th Century ([l=Schirmer Books] '97), Music Downtown: Writings from the Village Voice ([l=University of California Press] 2006), No Such Thing as Silence: John Cage's 4'33" ([l=Yale University Press] 2010), as well as Robert Ashley (2012) and Essays After a Sonata: Charles Ives's Concord (2016) at the [l=University of Illinois Press].

As a DJ, the record players do not offer all the possibilities he desires but “live” however, the creativity has no limits. Thus, every live session always results in new sound experiences. Not only in diverse live and DJ gigs, also in radio broadcasts by Subflow, Radio Sputnik, Ensonic und Radio 98eins, he was represented. In addition, together with friends he organizes several small partys. 2009, Djafar and the American Roberto Apodaca founded the Label "Draft". This provides a platform for artists to present them selves to the public. 2010 he withdrew from the club scene due to family reasons. But there was time to regroup and refocus the objectives. Refreshed, Djafar will give his best in the future and continues with his passion for complex emotionality. The creativity of his musical career remains branched and innovative. His motto continues “It must groove “.

Link | 1 | 2 | Pikaya | Pikaya | Germany | Pikaya | Daniel Ramm, Frank Greiner Producer/DJ team based in Berlin. During their youthful escapades of the 90s their ways kept crossing. Frank Greiner has started spinning records his spare time since 1993. At his first parties he discovered his passion for electronic club music and other musical extravaganzas. In 1995 he played his first DJ set in a Club in Frankfurt/ Oder where he met Daniel. Daniel was so intrigued by his sophisticated mix of dub, trip hop, rock and jazz, that after a thrilling conversation they immediately became friends. Daniel is obsessed by programming music since 1993. Based upon a simple set-up consisting of Amiga computer, sampler and synth he later did several live sets in the region of Brandenburg. In 1999 Daniel and Frank moved to Berlin independently. Their love for electronic music, however, brought them together again. Pikaya is the result of the musical journey of the two young men, who have clipped their heads and machines together since 2000. On the way they constantly grabbled with their respective ideas, but still managed to arrange them. Actually Frank and Daniel are playing the Pikaya live-set all over in Europe.

Link | 2 | 1 | Raphael Rogiński | Raphael Rogiński | Israel | Raphael Rogiński | Raphael Rogiński – guitarist, composer and performer, improviser, culture animator and musicologist. Educated in jazz and classical music, he also studied musical theory and ethnomusicology. Since the very beginning of his creative work he has been focusing primarily on improvisation rooted in blues and jazz, as well as on ethnic and folk music. It is the combination of those two paths that best defines his style both in terms of composing and performing. Deeply rooted in the Jewish culture, Rogiński has always sought to accommodate it in his art and this search resulted in the conception of two projects which he leads: Shofar and Cukunft. He also acts as art director of festivals presenting new Jewish culture like Tikkun, Varshe or Mizrach, and as consultant for projects featured at those festivals. He also has a deep connection with the Israeli culture. His band Debka Rafiah plays early Israeli music. Another source of inspiration for Rogiński is the primitive music of America, blues and the rock of 1960s. Inspired, on the other hand, by American experimental music (Harry Patch, Henry Cowell and others), Rogiński formed his band Spinalonga. The research on primitive swing resulted in setting up another band, Ectoplasma, playing music of Raymond Scott or early big band orchestras from Mississippi. The band Wovoka, in turn, grew up from the influences from early recordings of blues. The research on European early music brought about the release of the album Rogiński gra Bacha (Rogiński Plays Bach), which is a collection of Bach’s pieces played on prepared guitars. Rogiński is also involved in projects stemming from the international new jazz scene. His compositions, improvisations and interpretations are often used as soundtracks for various artistic events – documentaries and animations (e.g. Man Ray, Viking Elling), performing acts (J. Kalina), traditional and multimedia theatre plays and literature readings (Tadeusz Różewicz, Mieczysław Myśliwski, Jerzy Ficowski, Mieczysław Abramowicz, Andrzej Stasiuk). Currently, apart form the bands mentioned above, his ongoing musical projects include Nefesh (Mediterean music), Falashmura (Jewish African music), Sisters (with DJ Lenar) and solo concerts. Rogiński has collaborated with Kazuchisa Uchichashi, Le Quan Ninh, Marc Ribot, Noel Akchote, Frederic Blondy, Keith Rowe, Joe Giardullo, Axel Dorner, Thomas Lehn, Andrew Sharpley, John Edwards, John Tilbury, Brigit Ulher, Yale Strom, Tim Sparks, Frank London, Tim Daisy, Perry Robinson, Zeev Tene, Dave Rempis, Mark Tokar, Mark Sanders, Clayton Thomas, Kris Wenders, Peter Jaquemyn, Eyal Talmudi and many others. He frequently participates in music workshops, competitions and festivals of contemporary music, including the Jewish Culture Festival in Cracow, Simcha in Wrocław, Four Cultures in Łódź, Ha Motiv Ha Jehudi in Warsaw, Rainbow Coalition Festival in Hanover (USA), Warsaw Autumn, Gaudeamus Music Week in Hague, Boskovice Festival in Czech Republic, Ars Electronica in Linz, G2 Music for creative chamber orchestra, NuFolk in Gdańsk, Fete de la Musique in Paris, IndieNegev in Israel among others.
Link | 1 | 2 | Aphonico | Aphonico | Arturo F., techno | Aphonico | Arturo F. APHONICO is just another name of the percussionist Arthur Drummer, it's the name he uses to show his electronic music production alter-ego. His cornerstone it's Techno, and from there, he elegantly drives his creations to explore with mastery different territories to create his own speech very far away from the typical trends. We find reverential treatments of synths from first Detroit Techno years, Dub influence specially from the labels like Basic Channel / Chain Reaction, the relevance of minimalism of the old Plastikman, the industrial landscapes from Birmingham, the groove coming from the Napolitan rhythms, and the neatness of contemporary products like Coefficient or Asagaoaudio. All this and much more it's hidden under the sound imaginary of APHONICO, who, through his live sets, knows how to adapt his vision to the atmosphere of the different venues, and to the needs of the public without having to give in to ridiculous concessions, and always offering tracks created and produced by himself. This allowed him to participate in a big variety of events, sharing decks with first line artists like Surgeon, James Ruskin or Ben Sims amongst others. This "top notch" artists gave him the ability and experience needed to convert APHONICO in a safe bet for all kind of events. His polyvalence and knowledge of the environment together with his experience and good musical preferences it's something that never go unnoticed, having published references in different labels like: Nukapa Rec, Contrart-R, Redpoint Alert Rec, Nasty Temper Records, Induxtriall Records ,KIDNAPPING Netlabel, Digital Garden Records. Positive feedback made him to be very motivated to continue increasing his perspective of what Techno must be, understanding it like the amalgam of both dancing/not dancing electronic music which has implanted on it's gens the inheritance of Detroit Techno, so sometimes you will be able to listen him very near to the IDM and in other times you will listen sounds remembering to Joey Beltram, but in any case it will have the personality of APHONICO; obtaining a highly recognizable sound it's just thanks to talent, studio work hours and live performance hours working on different venues.

Link | 2 | 1 | Ali Ferguson | Ali Ferguson | Scotland | Ali Ferguson | Ali Ferguson Ali Ferguson is a Scottish guitarist, singer and songwriter based in Edinburgh. Currently best known as touring guitarist for Genesis and Stiltskin singer Ray Wilson and Scottish songwriting legend Dougie Maclean, gigs that have seen him play to hundreds of thousands of people all over Europe, Ali also plays for much-lauded singer/songwriter Fraser Anderson and has performed alongside Americana artist Stevie Agnew on and off for many years. Ali's first solo album "The Windmills And The Stars" was released in 2011 to critical acclaim and his second "A Sequence Of Moments" followed in January 2016. Brought up in Fife as part of a musical family Ali's own musical journey began at the age of 5 when he started playing the 'Cello in school. Having played in various school and regional orchestras over the following years Ali joined his first rock band as a lead vocalist at the age of 15 performing songs from the likes of Hendrix, Van Halen, Free, Pink Floyd and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Taken under the wing of Pete Agnew, bass player with Scottish rockers Nazareth who's son was also in the band, Ali discovered the guitar around this time and realised that maybe this was the instrument for him...not the 'cello after all! From that moment Ali's formative musical years continued with playing a constant stream of gigs in venues, many of which he was too young to be allowed in. When high school finished Ali went on to study guitar on the "Popular Music" course at Perth College gaining valuable experience in recording in many styles and continuing to regularly perform live as part of many different bands including both Pink Floyd and Eagles tribute bands. These days Ali's thoughtful, laid-back, melodic style, love of ambient effects and soundscapes and wide musical grounding in various styles sees him in demand for recording with many varied artists and projects in all sorts of genres. From the delicate singer/songwriting of Dougie Maclean, Fraser Anderson and Gina MacLeod through the gritty Americana of Stevie Agnew and Prog and heavy rock of Ray Wilson's Genesis Classic and Stiltskin projects to the ambient Floydy spaciness of his solo work...Ali is happy as long as he's playing for the song!

Born in the UK to a Jamaican mother and Nigerian father, he spent most of his upbringing in various children’s homes across the country. For someone who has had it tough from a very young age and was moved around a lot, this young man today is a bright, fun-loving artist, who has a natural exuberance for life. Tempman started off as a jungle MC. Listening to Jungle and performing to it is what he most enjoyed doing, but it wasn’t always plain-sailing. He was moved around a lot, and at one point was shipped from Brixton to Kent & Margate. It was here that he decided it was all or nothing. For The Love of Music…onwards, he went with the times. At a time when music was changing fast and although his love of Jungle music would always be there, he moved onto what then became one the biggest dance genres. Changing with the times, Garage was huge in the UK and was becoming the next big thing in Europe and the USA. While MC’ing to Jungle, he never really got the chance to work with some of the genres industry people, but in the garage industry, the young would-be star had the opportunity to work with some of the industry’s most famous acts. “I didn’t really get to collaborate with anyone established while MC’ing to Jungle, but with garage I had my pick of the bunch: Wiley, D double E, Dogg Pound & Dirty Dozen now known as SW2”. TempMan then moved onto working with and going to events done by Heartless Crew, Pay As You Go and Dizzee Rascal, who became his favourite artist, before he became commercial. Going to raves, running up on stage and performing with these types of stars is where he was having a good time, and how he became better with his own talent. He says himself that he loves performing, loves to entertain the crowd and loves being on stage, doing his own thing. It was all a party at that time, going on “sick” in the raves. TempMan is an extremely confident artist, who learnt at a young age to believe in himself. Listening to all types of music helped shape his own music today. His mother, aunties & nan heavily influenced reggae music in his life, the music of half his native, but he never took much notice of it growing up. It’s only now that he is older, that he appreciates it & listens to it more. He says himself that this may have had a lot to do with the American music industry having such a strong influence in the UK. Although he listened to Jungle artists such as Skibadee & Shabba a lot, and moved onto the Garage music scene, he is also a big fan of Rap and Hip-Hop. Very much into underground music, he listened to artists such as Ruff Ryders a lot, at a time when DMX was “tough” as he put it. TempMan is a young man who believes in himself, knows exactly where he’s been and where he’s going. Growing up living a tough life, he only wants the best for himself and realises that only he can make this happen. At present he his doing a lot of work on mix-tapes, producing an album and working on a movie.

Then in late 1963, he heard the Rolling Stones' covers of Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf. Stan traced the originators of this music and discovered THE BLUES. Upon his high school graduation in 1964, Stan moved to Hollywood to play the Sunset Strip with his Blues/Rock band "US". In 1979 started "The Stan West Band" playing a mixture of Country Rock and Blues, the band became quite popular in the L.A. area. In 1983, Stan opened "Stan's Guitar Shop" in Glendora. No longer having to rely on music for his income, Stan committed to play his first love, The Blues, exclusively. Since then, Stan and his band have played many clubs in the L.A. and Orange County areas, always playing the raw and downhome Blues Slide Guitar Style.

Link | 2 | 1 | Caandides | Caandides | France | Folktronica from Paris | Caandides | Caandides Caandides has a special place on the French musical landscape. Moving structure where musicians and graphic artists collaborate, in constant search for new forms of creation and diffusion, in a musical context where the landmarks become incessantly blurred, Caandides seeks the focal point and ignores the established rules. At the meeting of electronica, folk, rock and pop, the pieces of Caandides are rich in textures with complex structure and explore all the possible furrows of the current music. In May 2015 appeared the catchy extract "Winter XIII", premise of their first album entitled "20 ° 30 'S 29 ° 20'W" released at Cracki Records. After the release of "Before The Art" in 2012 and then the album in February 2016, the Caandides return with a series of remixes made by a selection of producers of choice: Voiski, Renart and Svengalisghost. These three producers as well as the group itself have revisited some of the best tracks of the album, gathered on a vinyl specially designed for the record store. |

Voyager Rock´s is the self released debut album of them, and was acclaimed by critics and specialized media like a necessary rupture and a totally innovator album and sound in the spanish boring hip hop scene. Voyager Rock´s had appear in the 2009 best albums lists of many spanish musical webs like Playground, Serie B, A Little Beat and others. Their shows also are differents, with live production, two MPC´s and synthetizers added to the classic methods of the hip hop live shows.

Link | 1 | 2 | Urban Homes | Urban Homes | Urban Homes | Urban Homes started in 2008 in Cologne, Germany as an – almost exclusively – instrumental post-punk outfit, with first live appearances in 2009. The band recorded their first release, a four song demo tape in late 2010 whose tracks already hinted towards an electronic and more experimental musical development. In 2011, the physical drum set was eventually replaced by a drum machine, having a huge impact on the group’s music. Urban Homes have managed to craft a sound that is exploring the space beyond specific musical categories, embracing electronic music production, pop music vocals and rhythm based song structures.

Link | 2 | 1 | ErsatzMusika | ErsatzMusika | Germany | Ersatzmusika | Ethnic band These 6 Berlin-based musicians spent a large proportion of their lives in the USSR - that mythical and legendary place beyond the iron stage curtain where Gypsies sing of woollen boots, worshippers of Mammon decry broken hearts and glasses sing paeans to lost love. And where, what's more, the troubadour is an outlaw. Several band members have already caused a sensation in the Moscow underground scene. They immigrated to Berlin at the beginning of the nineties and have been enriching the Russian diaspora with various musical projects ever since. The multifaceted artist Irina Doubrovskaja founded ErsatzMusika in 2006, also writing the songs and lyrics for their debut album. Despite the remove from dub, urban folk, world, minimalism and balladeering at which ErsatzMusika stays, the group's music proves strangely familiar to audiences of these musical strains. Yet their music is not an eclectic lucky dip, but rather a collection of acoustic letters in a strange vernacular, a human-made-for-human ersatz for the sounds of information-age intercourse.
