Link | 2 | 1 | Johnny Favourite | Johnny Favourite | Canada | Johnny Favourite | In 2011, Johnny Favourite, the vocalist and bandleader of Canada’s once most popular swing orchestra, had reached a turning point in his career. A year after releasing his aptly named Troubadour album on the Sony label, he had indeed become a wandering, seafaring minstrel, playing six shows a day, seven days a week, aboard cruise ships. That winter, back in Canada, his mother Kathleen was recovering from surgery, and Favourite took a sabbatical from his backbreaking schedule to look after her. Exhausted and dispirited, he says his greatest solace was logging onto the Internet to read about, and dream about, visiting, a place of which he’d so often heard: San Miguel de Allende. Favourite’s wandering days appear to be over. This past January, one month after finally arriving in San Miguel, he became the proprietor, host, and a regular performer at La Noche Piano Bar, at 101 Mesones, near the corner of Hernández Macías. La Noche, which in a short time has become one of the hottest nightspots in town, is open Wednesday through Sunday, from 8pm to 2am. On any given night, Favourite, a Sinatra-style crooner, and his guest performers, sing a variety of tunes, largely from the canon of the Great American Songbook – from Jerome Kern, Cole Porter, and Duke Ellington to Kander. Born Stuart Duncan Hanlin in 1969, in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Favourite says he was “doted upon by aunts and uncles, my mom and my grandparents. I was the master of the house.” His absent father had been ejected for habitual philandering when Favourite was a year old, and his early exposure to popular music came, in part, from his mother’s record collection. Though he attended Prince of Wales College, Favourite never formally studied music nor anticipated a career as a singer. That all changed one night when Favourite was in his mid-twenties and living in Ottawa. Having just lost his savings in a bad business venture, Favourite went to a restaurant with a piano bar, proceeded to get good and drunk, and began singing. And, he recalls, “some woman asked me for my autograph.” Favourite introduced himself to an Ottawa lounge entertainer who called himself Johnny Vegas and sang with Vegas’s band. (Favourite’s own stage name was partly taken in homage to Vegas, who became “a dear friend.”) Favourite soon moved to Halifax, and was invited to sing with a jazz combo made up of conservatory-trained musicians. They were an instant sensation, and Johnny Favourite’s Jazz Orchestra was born. Recording contracts followed. In 1999, Universal released Holiday Romance, a best-selling jazz album of 15 tracks, including a whimsical swing version of a Led Zeppelin song, along with standards such as "Them There Eyes". It won a Juno – Canada’s equivalent of the Grammy – and the prestigious East Coast Music Award for jazz recording of the year. On the heels of that success, the Johnny Favourite Jazz Orchestra became, Favourite says, “the hardest working band in Canada,” playing over three hundred shows a year, from the Supper Club in New York City, to the Red Room in New Orleans, to crowds of 60,000 people at the Pam-American Games. The band opened for acts such as Duran Duran and Natalie Merchant. Favourite says he does not miss the heady days of stardom and incessant touring, and has discovered a new level of contentment in San Miguel. “My first morning here,” he says, “I got up at 7am, found the Jardin, and by lunchtime I knew I wanted to stay here forever.” He adds, “All I ever wanted was to make music. Now, for the first time in my life, every note I utter, every person I greet when they come in, I’m doing it just for me.”

Each song is constructed from bits of found sounds and basement recordings reworked to form cohesive compositions. Guitars mix with sine waves, drumbeats are built from chance sounds and stuttering delays while melodies float in and out of focus. The songs move fluidly from one place to another, evolving and never returning to where they started. The two members of the group, Marc Fischer and Matt Jones, rely heavily on their skills as multi-instrumentalists and improvisors for both recordings and live performances.

DJ Butter started DJ-ing when he was 12. His dad bought him one Technics 1200s turntable and he bought the other. He began to play house parties in Highland Park and Puritan Avenue. At 14, he began to DJ for Sudden Strength, a hip-hop group with rappers Ounce, Bandit and Illy-Ill. He then went on to become D12's first DJ in 1999, spinning at the Majestic Theatre, Latin Quarters, Lush and the Scribble Jam in Cincinnati. He says he has produced more than 200 rappers from Detroit that include Miz Korona, King Gordy, Obie Trice and the Mountain Climbaz. Link | 1 | 2 | Az Izz | Az Izz | Newark | Member of the Outsidaz | Az Izz | Aubrey King Originally from Georgetown, Guyana, rising rap star Azizz traveled to America at 13 and spent his adolescent years in New Jersey, honing his natural musical talents. Music had always been a driving force in Azizz’s life and his passion evolved from being a young DJ, to becoming one of the founding members of the Outsidaz, a hip-hop group from Newark, NJ. Best known for its affiliation with Detroit rappers Eminem and Bizarre, the Outsidaz went on to leave a mark in hip-hop history. The group formed in 1991 after underground rappers Young Zee and Pacewon became friends at a party following a lengthy microphone battle that ended in a tie. The rappers chose to unite, bringing in Azizz, D.U. and Rah Digga. Throughout its run, the Outsidaz worked alongside rap industry stars such as Method Man, Redman and the Refugee Camp, and the group made its first commercial appearance as guest artists on the song “Cowboys” off the Fugees multi-platinum sophomore LP “The Score.” In addition, Outsidaz collaborated with Detroit’s D-12 on various projects, and Eminem gives a nod to Outsidaz in three songs on his debut album “The Slim Shady LP.” Throughout Azizz’s life, hip-hop was the one thing that made sense. Artists such as Heavy D, KRS One, LL Cool J inspired him to be the rapper he is today, and his first solo album “Born In Sin, Shaped In Iniquity,” showcases lyrical gifts. The versatility of themes featured on the album range from joy, despair, and pain peppered with political perspectives. Azizz likens himself to reggae legend Bob Marley, whose thought-provoking lyrics forced fans to question their reality and the consequences of their actions. Rather than just entertain his fans, Azizz hopes to make people stop and think. His family came to America for a better life and that is exactly what he intends to do for his community. His first charter is to run events for local charities like the Center of Autism, along with fostering and developing some of the amazing local talent he has signed to his record label, Green Team Records. |

What occurs in the field must be interpreted and then transmitted to the listener under conditions of total immersion. He began playing the piano when he was in primary school and added guitar to his repertoire by the time he was in high school playing in a few bands along the way. When he was 18 he started making music on his PC. His initial experiments resulted in some sample based hip hop, dodgey lounge music, and cheap techno. Be it a blessing or a curse, in 2006 his PC hard drive crashed and after long hours of mourning, he decided to shift away from electronic music all together and picked up his guitar. After setting aside his resentment, he moved to Tokyo and rediscovered his love for electronic production and blended it with acoustic instruments. It's lucky for us, because the results are something amazingly beautiful and fresh. After terrible earthquake in Japan in 2011 and broke all instruments and HDD he stopped making music.

Link | 1 | 2 | Mikial | Mikial | Mikial | M Davis Is life the ultimate inspiration for an artist? The answer may be a positive or a negative. But for singer-songwriter M Davis also known as Mikial it surely is one of the strongest forces that shaped his beliefs and made his songs an assertion of the self. In one of his creations Mikial chants, ‘this is me’: a Muslim, a black man appalled by the fact that ‘racism still exists’, son, father, husband, brother. The list continues as the one line ‘If I never said it before, now I’m saying it’ keeps playing in the background making music his platform for the ultimate expression. As if clarifying that it is within the paradigm of the here and the now, within the very frame of his music that the artist equipped with his life lessons will create a new identity not only for himself but for the hip-hop genre itself. If there is one word that most closely describes Mikial’s music, it is ‘strong’. And why not, because this volcano of creativity is an eruption from a deep-rooted struggle. As the artist himself puts it, “My music represents my lifestyle and that’s an everyday struggle”. It is the tale of a fight for existence and identity of a small town boy who sets foot in California with the dream of making it big in the world of hip-hop. Back in the eighties when hip-hop itself was in its nascent stage, being a part of this lesser known genre was not an easy task. Brave as well. But this conflict that again and again makes itself heard in Mikial’s music goes far deeper than the personal frontier. It is also a dismal realization that more often than not, a good creation is sacrificed in exchange of fame and stardom. “I think it’s my personal gift to make music…and it’s sad that politics have affected hip hop where emcees are afraid to freely express themselves without some type of benefit other than creating beautiful music”, says he. Perhaps it is this awareness inside his heart that inspires Davis to stand against this popular culture of easy music and use words as his weapon to make a statement. It is evident everywhere, even in something as simple as his album title Halal which he describes as ‘the lost songs for the lost people’. ‘Driven by dreams’ and propelled by the music that he inherited from his mother, a Gospel singer, and his uncle who produced Bay Area legend Digital Underground, Davis has collaborated with some of the most revered musicians like ElevenFiftyNine, Kumasi, M-Team, Rza, Battlecat, RassKass, Cali Agents and OnBeats. This in itself is no mean achievement especially because he managed to accomplish it at a very early stage in his musical career. What sets him apart from many others in his generation is the way in which he has taken freestyling to an altogether new and hitherto unexplored height. The artist confirms his unique contribution to the arena of hip-hop as he says, “What Halal 2.1 will do is raise the bar for creativity in freestyle records, because people (do) freestyle songs, but I’m the only one to freestyle a whole record.” And it did. But that was more than eight years ago and the artist has truly moved on from his Halal days to embrace what the many tomorrows held in store for him. Like Tennyson’s Ulysses who sees every experience as an arch that unfolds newer possibilities, Davis considers every new musical collaboration or entente as an opportunity to explore the limits of his own ability. But nothing satiates the urge to establish his own identity as an artist. That is the reason why even after collaborating with other creative minds in his own field Davis remains distinctly different in his own style. During the initial years of his musical career he came in contact with music producer Fanatik and the result was the album Just Like That which landed in the Minority Report. This new and prestigious ‘achievement’ brought Davis into the immediate attention of many established geniuses within the musical territory including Rasco who also expressed his desire to work with this new talent. But never did Davis lose his search for the path that would lead him to himself. While talking about Fanatik he says, “I was coming through my own door and we met up on the way” and continues, “I wanted to go on a different direction as an artist.” By the time Davis started working on his third album AIWA he already completed recording four more out of which only one named Soundscape which he produced in collaboration with OnBeats, was released. But this imbalance between all the work done and the little that finally makes it to the audience never deviates or disillusions Davis. He is the die-hard optimist who garners new lessons and takes it as yet another learning curve. “Letting go and moving on to the next volume of material” is how he puts it. It is this quality of overpowering optimism that was once cited by Bin Rockin as the reason why he loved working with Mikial. The dedication that marks all his creations also inspires Davis to know more not only about the song itself but about the entire process of album creation. “You don’t have to over-think the process, you will just have to accept” from both the creative and production standpoint, explains the artist. With this new awareness where one needs to “allow it to happen” and which is intertwined with the sense of more responsibility as an artist, Davis moved on to his third album AIWA. “I have always loved the ability to create art” confesses Davis. Like all great artist he wants his music to intrigue people and move them to discover within its framework their own song, their own music, their very own meaning. He visualizes his music as the canvass and his words as the paint brushes that would help his audience create their personal expressions. This is one of his ways to be ‘effective’ as an artist and a human being, to give back to the world and to outperform every single time. Even after years of exploring his genre of music Davis feels that he is still at the beginning of creating some sort of art that will challenge artists to be more creative and challenge people thought-provokingly on what he has to offer. “Honestly, I can say that I have been given my shot“, says Davies and quickly adds, “which in no way is over”. And with a new album on the anvil you can bet it is far from being over. It is just another beginning. Tania Bhattacharya

The orchestra has existed in its present form since 1971, when the "Kulturorchester" and the Kleist Theatre orchestra combined to form the Frankfurt Philharmonic Orchestra. The orchestra began undergoing decisive artistic developments after Nikos Athinäos assumed direction in 1990, and in 1995 was named the official orchestra of Brandenburg (Staatsorchester), receiving the concomitant subsidies which allowed it to increase in size. Between 2001 and 2007 its principal conductor was [a=Heribert Beissel] and since that year this position has been occupied by [a=Howard Griffiths].

He has recorded with artists like Prairie Prince (The Tubes), Grammy Awarded Paul McCandles & Howard Levy (Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Bill Douglas, Ty Burhoe, and many others. Born in Burlington Vermont, raised in Boulder Colorado. Dean resides in Austin Texas, Dean started playing music in High School with friend Bret Mann playing High School dances and private parties. While learning to play he was influenced by the Bass players of the day i.e. Stanley Clarke and Jaco Pastorius. In High school he was in All state Orchestra and studied on a Music scholarship to the University of Northern Colorado and the the University of Colorado at Denver. After grduating in 1982 Dean also studied at the fledgling Naropa University in Boulder Colorado, where great artists and thinkers like Allen Ginsber and Bill Douglas taught, He later went on to record with Bill Douglas on the Hearts of space label, and was featured on the radio program "Music from the hearts of space" by Stephen Hill. According to Bass player magazine Dean's book Bass Harmonics: new concepts and techniques is "the book on Bass Harmonics". Dean has four albums with original music: The latest recording released in 2010, AIRBORNE, is a bass and drum duet featuring Bret Mann on percussion. Avguide.com reviewed AIRBORNE, calling Dean “a remarkable solo artist on his chosen instrument, with a dazzling array of playing techniques at his disposal. . . seemingly limitless chops, and—most importantly—a wealth of inventive musical ideas to express.” AIRBORNE has been on a top 40 radio success in the US and Canada and was nominated for an annual ZMR award for 2010, a must buy in the 2011 Absolute Sound buyers guide and featured in Stereophile magazine multiple times since its release in 2010. Stereophile Magazine wrote of Peer’s third release,Think… It’s All Good, “On first listen you want more, and the more you turn up the volume, the more there is to hear.” His 1994 album, Travelogue, was called “one of the best records of the year” by Jazz Times, and features contributions on saxophones by Paul McCandless. His album UCROSS, released in 1991, was the first completely solo electric bass album in worldwide distribution. It was hailed by Stereophile magazine as an audiophile classic, and Bass Player magazine called UCROSS an extravaganza of ringing notes, chords and clusters, rating the bass performance an “A”. Lately he's been touring globally with his percussionist Bret Mann and is the midst of a new recording project.

Link | 2 | 1 | Oranj Symphonette | Oranj Symphonette | United States | Oranj Symphonette | The Oranj Symphonette is a band formed by the members of the Tom Waits Band that used to jam in the middle of the recording sessions. They put 2 albums on the street, one of them covering versions of Henry Mancini in a jazz version. Led by cellist/bassist Matt Brubeck, the group includes Joe Gore and manic multi-instrumentalist Ralph Carney. Individually these three have played with the likes of PJ Harvey, the B-52's, Marc Ribot and more. Collectively, they met recording Tom Waits' score for the Jim Jarmusch film Night On Earth. They stayed in touch, and in 1993 began their reverent and loving deconstruction of Mancini's music. Joined by Scott Amendola, they debuted at San Francisco's Radio Valencia in 1994. Things developed infrequently until 1996 when they recruited Hammond organ/accordion virtuoso Rob Burger and began honing their explosive live chops.

His works range from dark ambient and neoclassical influences to industrial, noise textures and abstract rhythms. Allthough, sharing a huge love for the metal underground scene, making electronic music became a huge part of his life the last 3 years. By doing everything on his own, this has become his main project to express his feelings and thoughts. In a Mindset is now dead. Steven is now guitar and bass player for A Thrill Of Light.

Link | 2 | 1 | Leukorrhea | Leukorrhea | Leukorrhea | Leukorrhea's style is a hybrid of ultra-violent technical Death/Grind. In late August of 2000, Adam, Nate and Mike met through mutual friends and started jamming. Having completed their first song ``Humanity's Victim`` at the first practice they decided that it would be cool to pursue their music more and began the search for a complete line-up. Leukorrhea was born! Adam approached a friend he had jammed with before, so Bob was added to the band. After two months without a bassist, Nick joined the Leukorrhea camp. With three song's previously written before Nick joined, they started writing material as a complete unit. In December 2000 they released a very rough 3-song demo titled ``Hymns Of The Rotting``. Although the quality was very low the demo was reviewed positively in zines/webzines. In May of 2001 Leukorrhea was approached by Bill Smith of Forever Underground Records and came upon a record deal to release the debut CD. They also appeared at Milwaukee Metalfest, where their disc was released. In August of 2001 the debut CD ``Hatefucked And Tortured`` was released on Forever Underground Records. Containing 9 tracks of violence laden Death Metal, the CD has been well received since its release. Right before their first tour, Adam Ford decided that he didn't want to tour. Rather than not go, they decided as a band that it was important to do this, with or without Adam. Due to miscommunication and the fact the dedication didn't seem to be there anymore, Adam was no longer a part of Leukorrhea. Almost right after Adam departed, they were called by Ron Greene (ex-Vital Remains guitarist) and he said he wanted to join. Current line-up Rob Brown - Guitar Nate DeMontigny - Vocals Allen Florentine - Bass Ron Greene - Guitar Mike McPherson - Drums Former/past member(s) Steve "Fishcakes" Diaz - Guitar Adam Ford - Guitar (2000-2002) Bob - Bass (2000-2001) James - Bass Lucas - Bass Damian Malgeri - Bass (2001-2002) Bob Morse - Guitar (2000-2002) Nick - Bass Anthony Paulini - Guitar Additional notes Leukorrhea is a white-ish, somewhat thick discharge from the vagina. Normally, vaginal discharge occurs intermittently throughout the menstrual cycle, with a somewhat greater than usual amount during pregnancy. Constant leukorrhea, a change in its consistency, or a greater discharge than usual may be signs of a vaginal or uterine infection, a tumor, or various other gynecological disorders.

Link | 1 | 2 | Big Block 454 | Big Block 454 | Big Block 454 | UK act BIG BLOCK 454 started out in 1988, founded by Colin Robinson and Pete Scullion. They made their debut with the single Know What This Is? in 1990, and five years later they made their next move, contributing with the music for the art installation Measured in Shadows by dada artists Russell Mills and Ian Walton. A flurry of releases followed in the next few years, several of them official releases of productions previously available on cassette only. In 1998 this was the case for I Changed My Dentist... I Changed Him Into a Horse (first issued on cassette in 1995) and Three Lucky Boys (first issued on cassette in 1994), while the EP They'd Bought a Packard consisted of new material. In 1999 the only compilation album by the band saw the light of day in the shape of Rough as Sausages, released on the at the time highly popular and influential website www.mp3.com, while the albums Strange Ululations and Fistula! both were film scores with brand new material. In 2000 the EP That's a Nice Hat appeared, and in 2004 a new studio album appeared in the shape of Their Coats Flapped Like God's chops. Throughout these first 14 years of the band's history a variety of musicians were involved: Colin Robinson (vocals, various instruments), Pete Scullion (guitars, vocals), Melissa Sinden (vocals), Emma Scott (vocals), Alex Stone (guitars, vocals, accordion), Mark Joell (keyboards, vocals), Robert Shaw (drums), Liam Robinson (guitars) and Neil Newsome (air-raid siren). By 2007 they were reduced to a trio though, with Robinson, Stone and Joell remaining. This slimmed down version of the band issued the so far arguably best known production by Big Block 454: 2008's Bratislava. Big Block 454 describe themselves as a semi-amorphous post-modern / situationist neo-dada cross-platform compositional construct from Manchester, England (featuring people from Liverpool, Leeds and Lincolnshire). They cite Faust, Can, Brian Eno, The Residents, the Bonzo Dog Band, King Crimson and the BBC Radiophonics Workshop as their main infuences.

Her mother had a passion for folk music (Bruce Cochburn, Judy Collins, Gordon Lightfoot, Leonard Cohen, the Fairport Convention, Tim Buckley) and Kal never imagined that one day she would also be a fan. After receiving a degree in Spanish she ended up in Valparaiso Chile, living on a hill (cerro alegre) in total solitude with nothing but a typewriter and a beautiful view. Here she began writing songs, at age 26. Six months later she took a bus across the Andes, arriving in Buenos Aires. Within a few days she met composer Christian Basso and they began recording together and eventually married. Their song "The Movement" can be heard in the film "Dot the I" starring Gael Garcia Bernal. She also took up accordion, which was easier to travel with than a piano. Some years later she returned to Denver and immediately formed band Tarantella with John Rumley ([a=Slim Cessna's Auto Club] and [a=Hush]) where they also shared a meaningful co-writing situation. In 2000, Kal recorded with [a=Lilium], and has appeared doing back-up vocals for locals [a=Munly] and [a=Roger Green]. Kal has been onstage to play keyboards for [a=Woven Hand] and has appeared with The Denver Gentlemen. Kal was also part of the band [a=Tarantella].

Link | 1 | 2 | Rockin' Pony | Rockin' Pony | Rockin' Pony | Michael Drumz, Sasha Rozet Rockin’ Pony is an electronic project of Michael Drumz and Sasha Rozet, founded in summer of 1998. The style of music sits somewhere between electronica and easy listening, with jazz elements and classical influence - ultimately, fusion. All compositions are based on (unrevealed) story lines which give the music a rich narrative structure, with strong emphasis on melodies and harmony, rhythm and style changes, and a positive mood with a particular, fine humour. Their debut album “Hello” came out in December 2001 on German electronica label “Lux Nigra” (www.luxnigra.de) and received very good response from press and electronica fans. The album was compared to music of Plaid, Squarepusher, Plone. Other releases include a self-released promo 7” and numerous tracks on various compilations around the world. “Rockin’ Pony” enjoy playing live and have successfully done so in clubs around Europe. During live shows they combine electronic equipment (synthesizers, sampler, drum machine) with live percussion and drums.

Link | 2 | 1 | Alkemic Generator | Alkemic Generator | Italy | Alkemic Generator | Alkemic Generator is an Italian trio that fuses EBM together with Gothic sounds, the structures of Rock character, combining them with operatic female vocals. The idea for this musical pedigrees was born at the end of 2010, when Kinky started to experiment with the sounds he had been keeping in mind for years. When Leo C (Next-Xanctum keyboard player of the “Ensoph”) joined him in 2011, the realization of “The Oniric Geometry” officially began. The missing link for the finalisation of this project was the voice. After an accurate search for the one, in September of 2012, Sanja Aveic joined them, and a band started to immerse into various sounds and styles. Working seriously in the months that followed, the band completed the first album titled "The Oniric Geometry”, which was released in April, 2013, by Nilaihah Records.

Born ca. 1545, died November 29, 1602 Holborne entered Pembroke College, Cambridge in 1562. He was admitted to the Inner Temple Court in 1565. Holborne married Elisabeth Marten on 14 June 1584. On the title page of both his books he claims to be in the service of Queen Elizabeth. He died of a ‘cold’ in November 1602. He was held in the highest regard as a composer by contemporaries. John Dowland dedicated the very first song I saw my lady weepe in his Second Booke to Holborne. His patron was the Countess of Pembroke, Mary Sidney. In the 1590s he entered the service of Sir Robert Cecil, the 1st Earl of Salisbury. His brother was William Holborne. Six of William's madrigals were included in the Cittarn Schoole. His first known book was the Cittarn Schoole of 1597, consisting of compositions for the cittern. The preface indicates the pieces were composed over a number of years. He writes that the musical compositions are "untimely fruits of my youth, begotten in the cradle and infancy of my slender skill." The Pavans, Galliards, Almains and other short Aeirs, both grave and light, in five parts, for Viols, Violins, recorders or other Musicall Winde Instruments was published in 1599 and consisted of 65 of his own compositions. It is the largest surviving collection of its kind. Most are of the pavan-galliard combination. Other pieces are of the allemande style. The rest are unclassified. "The Fairie Round" from this collection was included on the Voyager Golden Record, copies of which were sent into space aboard the Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 space probes in 1977, as a representation of human culture and achievement to any who might find it.

Travelling and inspired by the beautiful and natural impressions of the surrounding landscape, Andreas decides to take Roland along, who is standing at the road. From there on they are travelling together, with the intention to transpose their experiences into music. This explains the partly different musical pieces, which is an absolutely desired effect. While listening the dreamy music by “En Voice” you are not only relaxing but simultaneously going on an exciting voyage of discovery. One year after their fantastic Debut 'Inclination for Composure' (2005), En Voice present their second Album. 'Hall Of Dreams' is another inspired journey around the world of electronic and cosmic sounds, spiced up with tasted of Pop Music and Chillout. All the tracks have a deeply emotional touch. The flow is very soothing and the love for details make you want to listen to it again and again and again. “En Voice”- this music will touch your inner depth. Enjoy EN VOICE

Link | 2 | 1 | Revolution Riot | Revolution Riot | Sweden | Revolution Riot | Revolution Riot is a rock'n'roll/hardrock/punk/sleaze band from Sweden. Two albums has been released so far. CURRENT MEMBERS; Glitz (3) - Vocals/Guitars [a=Johnny Sinn] - Guitars Fisch (5) - Bass Tommie Riot - Drums Hailing from the suburbs of Stockholm, Sweden, REVOLUTION RIOT is a combo, which combines the flare of the ’80s with the attack and rawness of the punk-era. It all started back in late 1990s when guitarist/vocalist Glitz (3) and bass player [a=Sleazy Texas] decided that they wanted to form a group which played the kind of music they grew up with and loved. The first line-up of the band didn’t last long and it wasn’t until they were joined by drummer [a=Tom-E (3)] that their ideas started to develop in the intended direction. Their first studio session together, in April 1998, was recording a song for a MOTÖRHEAD-tribute. They decided to do the song "Poison" and the result came out quite well. In July of that same year their first demo, [b]It’s Not A Trend, It’s A Lifestyle[/b] was recorded. Early 1999 saw the addition of one more guitar player, the dreadlocked [a=Skinny (4)], and the band began to perform live on a regular basis. The gigs earned the band a reputation as one of the best live acts around the Stockholm area. In September 1999, Sleazy decided to quit and the search for a new bass player began. In November a new bass player was found, [a=Eazy (9)] . So, in January 2000 the guys once again returned to the studio to record their second demo entitled [b]HELL YEAH!!![/b]- This demo was the one that made [l=Feedback Boogie Records] release their first full-length CD,[r4650364], in April 2001. The year started out well for the band with among other things an appearance on Swedish national TV. But shortly after the CD was released, bass player [a=Eazy (9)] left the band. Once again in need of a bass player, they found [a=Fisch (5)], who fitted the band like hand in glove. Revolution Riot kept their live shows tight and were playing live all over Sweden, due to bad distribution of the album they never made it to foreign countrys. Their second album [r3310645] was released in September 2005 and got great reviews through out Europe. In 2006 [a=Skinny (4)] declared that he wanted to leave to fully focus on his other band [a252553]. Sad to see him go they once again started the search for a fourth member. After a long time looking and a few failed atempts they found Johnny, former guitarist of [a1228740]. With a complete lineup they began doing gigs and writing new material. But once again things changed as mainstay drummer Tom-E decides to quit! After almost a decade in the band he wants to work on other project. There were no hard feelings from the band as they were thankful for all he had donee for Revolution Riot. Finding a replacement was for once easy as long time friend of the band [a=Simon Becker] was available and gladly took the job. The band continued working both live and in the studio. One gig at small club, Pub Anchor turned out to be something out of the ordinary. Before the show none other than Australian rockstars [a165993] came in during Revolutions soundcheck asking if they could be the opening act for the night! A bit shocked RR gladly accepted the offer and since [a165993] didn't have any instruments they borrowed the swedes. The audience that night got to see something special as [a165993] did their job as an opening act in a small club! A few weeks after the unusual Pub Anchor gig the line up changed again in RR! [a=Simon Becker] had lost his passion for playing and wanted to quit. The one who replaced him was none other than original drummer [a=(Tom-E (3))], now goes by the name Tommie Riot! The Circle was complete and the band is now even more motivated to carry on to play and get the third album out.
