Link | 1 | 3 | Phil Baugh | Phil Baugh | United States | Phil Baugh | Phil Baugh was one of the best session guitarists in Nashville during the 1970s and '80s. Born and raised in Northern California, he began playing guitar and performing in churches as a child, which led to band and nightclub gigs. He got his first big break playing with Ray Price, who helped him get a recording contract with Longhorn Records in Dallas. In 1964 Baugh and Vern Stovall recorded the album Country Guitar, which contained two major hits, "Country Guitar" and "One Man Band." In 1965 he was named Best Guitarist by the ACM, Outstanding Instrumentalist of the Year by Billboard, and Instrumentalist of the Year by Cashbox. Baugh rejoined the Ray Price band as a lead guitarist in 1969. He moved to Dallas two years later and became a prominent studio musician for commercial jingles and album projects. Baugh moved to Nashville in 1975 and there became one of the hottest session players in town. His unique sound stemmed from his invention of the "Phil Baugh Pedal," comprised of six pedals that bent the strings of an electric guitar to produce sounds similar to that of a steel pedal guitar. Baugh formed the Superpickers in 1980, which included steel guitarist Buddy Emmons, drummer Buddy Harmon, bassist Henry Stryzlecki, pianist Willie Rainsford, and percussion/harmonica player Terry McMillian. During the early '80s, Baugh also embarked on a successful producing career. He suffered a coronary in 1985, but continued working on the Nashville Network's Church Street Station. However, he never fully regained his health and died in 1990 at age 53.

Link | 1 | 3 | Last Dominion Lost | Last Dominion Lost | Berlin | Last Dominion Lost | Jonh Murphy, Jon Evans, & Dominic Guerin Last Dominion Lost has existed since 1992, formed out of the ashes of Merge (a project created by Dominik Guerin, founding member of SPK, and Jon Evans). With the inclusion of John Murphy (ex-SPK, Whitehouse, Current 93, Death in June), the transition was complete. In April of 1992 the recording sessions for what was to become „The Tyranny of Distance“ began (released on Germany's Tesco Records). 16 years later, the opportunity arose to reform the slumbering project. With the welcome addition of Ash Wednesday (Crashlands, Einstürzende Neubauten) and Julian Percy (Ratbag) initial recordings and rehearsals began in May of 2008.

Link | 3 | 1 | Thandiswa Mazwai | Thandiswa Mazwai | South Africa | Thandiswa Mazwai | Thandiswa Mazwai Sister of [a=Ntsiki Mazwai] and since she burst into the public's consciousness as the lead vocalist and songwriter of award-winning group [a=Bongo Maffin], Thandiswa Mazwai has been an indelible part of the South African cultural landscape. Her musical beginnings, however, were not quite as auspicious – her first attempt to get noticed occurred at the Shell Road to Fame talent show – in a move that must be puzzling the judges to this day, Thandiswa didn’t even make it to the semi-finals round. She did, however, catch the eye of musician and producer [a=Don Laka], who arranged to include her in a project he was working on - Bongo Maffin's sophomore album. The band became known as one of the founding members of kwaito, and went on to release four more albums, becoming widely recognized as the voice of South Africa’s conscious youth. Their compositions consistently combined dance floor favourites with thought provoking lyrics. They were invited to perform all over the world, and shared the stage with musical icons such as [a=Stevie Wonder], The Marley Clan, [a=Ladysmith Black Mambazo], [a=Chaka Khan], [a=Sean Paul], [a=Steel Pulse] and [a=Skunk Anansie] amongst others. Their contribution to the South African musical cannon earned Bongo Maffin numerous awards, amongst them South African Music Awards, the Kora All Africa Music Awards, and the Metro FM Music Awards. After almost eight years with Bongo Maffin, Thandiswa finally resolved to begin work on a solo project. The album, a work that elegantly fuses various musical genres, showcases her renowned artistic and musical capabilities, a talent which transcends borders and music genres.

Link | 1 | 3 | Solothus | Solothus | Helsinki | Solothus | Death/Doom Metal from Turku/Helsinki, Finland. Line up: Kari Kankaanpää - Vocals Veli-Matti Karjalainen - Guitar Sami Iivonen - Guitar & Backing Vocals Juha Karjalainen - Drums Tami Luukkonen - Bass The band took its earliest form in the year 2007 in Parainen, when Kari and Santeri decided to start a band. Veli-Matti was also a founding member, but since he lived hundreds of kilometers away, he rarely was at rehearsals. The band had many line-ups and names throughout 2007, but at the end of the year, the name Solothus was chosen. In the year 2008, most members served their military duties and the band wasn’t active. A new line-up was made early in 2009 in Turku. Alex entered the picture, either playing the bass or the guitar. The band rehearsed with this line-up until 2010. Rami joined as a guitarist somewhere along the road. In the autumn of 2010, Veli-Matti moved to Turku and the band got serious. Soon after that, Alex left the band due to him being busy with other stuff. Rami moved to the bass. In the early 2011, Rami left to concentrate on his other musical interests and because he lacked the time for the band. Soon the band asked Dario to come and try for the bassist’s spot. After one rehearsal, it was certain that Dario would give the band what they needed: a solid member. The band started writing their own music and went to the studio in August 2011 to record their first demo, Ritual of the Horned Skull. The demo was released quickly on the Halloween of the same year. After the release of the demo, Solothus concentrated on performing live. The first gig was in their home town, Turku. Several gigs followed, warming up for bands such as Torture Killer and Ereb Altor (SWE). In spring 2012, Solothus toured Finland with Coffins (JP) and Hooded Menace. Their first performance at a festival was in summer 2012 at Selviytyjät Private Metal Fest. After the gigs and tour, it became obvious that Santeri couldn't keep up with the band. In the autumn of 2012, Santeri and Solothus parted ways in good terms. Juha Karjalainen, the new drummer, joined the ranks of Solothus. While making changes to the line-up, another guitarist, Sami Iivonen, was added to make the sound even heavier. Having gained visibility on the underground, Memento Mori, a Spanish label, offered Solothus a record deal to release their first full length album. Debut album titled ”Summoned from the Void” was released July 2nd, 2013. Album got immediately a positive feedback from the scene and gigs around Finland followed. ”Summoned from the Void” was recorded and mixed by Harri Hyytiäinen at Rehearsalucifer Studios, same studio where the demo was recorded. As 2014 unfolded, Solothus was facing another line-up change. Due to changes in personal-life, Dario stepped down from the bass duties. Thus entered Tami Luukkonen to the picture. Already known from Gorephilia, Tami made the strong line up even stronger. Now Solothus is preparing for more live assaults and writing material for the sophomere album! More doom to come!

Link | 3 | 1 | Ramiro Musotto | Ramiro Musotto | Brazil | Ramiro Musotto | Argentine master-percussionist Ramiro Musotto was born in La Plata, grew up in Bahía Blanca and at age 18 moved to Brazil, where he spent most of his professional career, although he made frequent trips back to Argentina. In Brazil, he lived in Sao Paulo, Bahia and Rio de Janeiro. Since 1982, Ramiro Musotto explored the rhythms of Brazil and became a master of the berimbau. In his recordings, he used the instrument as percussion, melody, and with background loops. Ramiro started with pumped-up versions of Afro-Brazilian grooves, but later added multiethnic global music, with elements from Africa, South America, Asia and Europe. Ramiro Musotto worked with just about every great Brazilian and Argentinean artist in the world today including Sergio Mendes, Caetano Veloso, Gato Barbieri, Daniela Mercury, Gilberto Gil, Marisa Monte, and Virginia Rodriguez. Sudaka was his debut album and combined his field recordings of Amazon Indian chants, Candomble spirit rhythms, Brazilian percussion, and everyday street sounds, all layered over a percolating electronic dance-groove production. Musoto called it “a psychedelic trip throughout and into the Afro-Brazilian and South American culture; an optimistic way of interpreting the effects of technology in our everyday life and art.” His most recent album was Civilizacao & Barbarye, released in Argentina as Civilización y Barbarie which he presented at Womex 2008 in Sevilla. Ramiro Musotto died September 11 of 2009 in Salvador da Bahia (Brazil) of pancreas cancer. He was 45. "He was 45 years old and a master of the berimbau," said his American booking agent booking Alexandra Casazza. "He was Argentinean, but he considered himself a true Brazilian. During his career he released 2 records as a solo artist "Sudaka" and "Civilizacao & Barbarye" and worked as percussionist with amazing artists as Daniela Mercury, Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso and Lenine just to name a few. He was known as both an accomplished electronic musician and percussionist... Ramiro was a truly avant garde artist and he will be missed by many." "An Argentinean musician, long resident in Brazil, Ramiro was a stand-out showcase at WOMEX 2008, a remarkable musician and innovator," said WOMEX General Director Gerald Seligman. "Ramiro was a genius and a great friend," said Brazilian musician and producer Gilberto Monte. "A great loss."

Link | 2 | 2 | Loose Shus | Loose Shus | Loose Shus | A DJ /Producer from San Francisco, who’s music has been described as synth pop, electro meets 70s cop / horror movie soundtracks. A late starter to the music world, Loosh Shus only really began making music about 10 years ago. He had originally started out studying film, which also gave him an introduction into production soundtracks. It was this insight into soundtracks that took Loosh Shus out of film and into music. His influences, not surprisingly, are heavily entrenched in the film composers of the seventies, especially the Italian, Giallo, genre of films. This mystery/horror genre, that was most prominent from 1970 to 1975, gained a reputation for gratuitous violence and sexuality and served as a big influence on the American Slasher film. Of the musicians who worked on this genre of cinema Loosh Shus sights two above all others Italian progressive rock band Goblin, who were known for their work for Dario Argento, and Fabio Frizzi, an Italian musician and composer best known for his film scores and collaborations with famous horror director Lucio Fulci. In 2009 he signed on to plant the Music where he released his first EP Taurus. He is also a member of the extended family that make up the French collective Valerie.

Link | 3 | 1 | Jon Gomm | Jon Gomm | United Kingdom | Jon Gomm | Jon Gomm Jon Gomm is an acoustic singer-songwriter with an incredible virtuoso guitar style, where he uses one acoustic guitar to create drum sounds, basslines and sparkling melodies all at the same time, and combining styles from blues and jazz to rock and pop. The emphasis is still on the soulful vocals and songwriting however, and his original material is influenced by everything from Robert Johnson to Radiohead. Jon first laid his hands on a guitar at the age of two (actually it was a ukulele - his parents couldn’t find a guitar small enough). He started taking classical guitar lessons, wrote his first song at the age of six, and at twelve he was accompanying his father, a music critic, to blues gigs in his hometown of Blackpool. Touring musicians would often stay at the Gomm household on the understanding Jon would get a guitar lesson, meaning he had one-to-one instruction from such legends as Walter Trout, Bob Brozman, Sherman Robertson and Norman Beaker (Jack Bruce band). On leaving school Jon turned down a place at Oxford University to attend The Guitar Institute in London. While there he paid his way through college playing jazz in café-bars, recording as a session guitarist, and even playing Country & Western in working mens clubs for line-dancers. Eventually he heard the call of the north and moved to Leeds, where he is now based, to study on the Jazz degree course at the music college there. He decided to try his hand at performing solo, and discovered all kinds of new sounds he could make with an acoustic guitar – hitting the surface of it to make snare drum, bass drum and bongo sounds, re-tuning the strings to get bass sounds, and teasing high harmonics from the guitar for synthesizer-like effects. He worked all these techniques into his own songs, and put his years of singing blues into use. Nowadays he tours Europe, playing at festivals from Rome to Athens, has a huge cult following and is regarded by those in the know as one of the world’s most talented and innovative acoustic guitarists. Even with only one CD so far released he is already cited as an influence by many other performers. His videos are watched thousands of times within days of appearing on Youtube, and his home-recorded CD “Hypertension” has sold over ten thousand copies with no industry backing.

He had experimented with computer music earlier but after he started to learn guitar during his studies at the university (he was taught by Ramo Teder, Pastacas, also a Kohvirecords artist), Eero decided to add some acoustic flavour to his creation. He uses guitars, electrodrums, synths, flute, accordion and vocals to mellow sometimes arrhythmic digital patterns. Eero's music is emotionally similar to Toshack Highway and sometimes even to Mogwai. Alike them, Barbariz isn't afraid to use noise and combine it with softer, pop-like melodies. What makes Barbariz's creation different is it's subtle scent of the Nordic melancholia.

His formative years spent in Detroit's lofts and clubs contributed greatly to the development of his aesthetic sensibilities. Miller’s experimentation nurtured a willful interest in designing custom software performance tools. During his time at Gray Area Foundation for the Arts, he developed a modular arsenal of audiovisual performance tools for multichannel immersive environments. He currently runs the sound design firm, FINITE STUDIO, and constructs systems at Obscura Digital. His performances and installations have been exhibited internationally in museums, galleries, and clubs and typically traverse concepts such as ontology, emergence, occultism, and pop.

Guest musicians on Candy include John Wills (Loop/Hair & Skin Trading Company/Pinkie Maclure), Mark Flunder (Cee Bee Beaumont/Television Personalities/Sportique) and Jono Podmore (a.k.a. Kumo). Techno and hip-hop and other 'dance' genres are full of diverse elements. Rock and Indie is far less adventurous. The occasional sample is considered 'modern' or 'experimental' to use the hip-hop ethic in 'rock' is standing outside the format. Flex 13 don't hold with the formula. Candy is the sweets you need a ladder to reach. Candy is life. Criticism is easy. Action means movement. Movement is life.....

Link | 3 | 1 | Lucite Tokki | Lucite Tokki | South Korea | Lucite Tokki | Lucite Tokki is a Seoul based female pop duo formed in 2005. The group consists of Sun Young Kim (guitar) and Ye Jin Cho (vocal). They first met in college, both majoring in music, and worked on several projects together to realize that they were the best musical partners for each other. As soon as they graduated, they took their first step into the music industry. First they named their team, "tokki" (rabbit in Korean), because Sun Young looked like a rabbit and Ye Jin liked rabbits in general. However, as they started working in the industry, they changed their name to Lucite Tokki. "Lucite Tokki" added the word "lucite" in their team name because of a necklace Ye Jin wanted that was made out of a lucite material (transparent thermoplastic) but couldn't get it because it being all sold out. To put up with inconvenience they decided to put the word carefully in their team name. With a base of pop, Lucite Tokki creates honest music expressing their thoughts and feelings about their daily life. Lucite Tokki sincerely hopes that all their listeners and supporters feels the warmth they play through their music.

Link | 1 | 3 | Cramer Rouse | Cramer Rouse | Cramer Rouse | Pascal Schwitter Cramer’s musical career started in 1993 at the early age of thirteen. At that time Cramer became influenced by the harder sound of TECHNO, went on to a local record shop and found himself looking through the harder edge style, and considered himself infected with the electronic sound. Some time later, Cramer became more interested in playing the music rather then just listening to it, and shortly after found himself behind the decks. He caught on quick, and soon after mastered the art of turntablism. After sending promotional demos to several promoters, he received his first booking as Mr.Bomba. Soon after he was contacted by other promoters and went on to play at clubs and parties all over Switzerland, Austria and Germany. Playing with such acts as Darude, Kai Tracid, Gary D. and many others. After several years of Dj’ing, Cramer went on to throw events under KOMA Productions, 3 in total, and all being successful parties through 2001 – 2002. During this time, Cramer met Melanie DJ Tria from Tracid Traxxx who brought him together with his producing partner Peter Juergens (Peter Gun, Prawler, Ten Madison). They decided to take the next step and get into the studio together. The track “Musical Statement” by their Project P.A.S.C.A.L. was included in the compilation “Progressive Goa Trance Vol. 2” on “Yellow Sunshine Explosion Records” while Marco V played in 2003 their track “Feel Free” on many occasions. After getting great feedback on “Change Your Mind” and “Feel Free” from both Ferry Corsten and Marco V, Cramer’s “Feel Free” was also featured on Armin van Buuren’s “A State of Trance #100”. Then Belgian’s ‘Banshee Worxx’ label found themselves interested in his work, and now Cramer has found himself coming out with his first release in May 2004 on the sub-label “Fourty-5 Records”. Further projects are already in the making.

His tracks were described as “fusions of almost Autechre levels of razor-edged sound design with footwork, house, grime, vintage Detroit and other indefinable rhythms make for some of the most brilliantly produced music we’ve heard this month. 9/10" (Mixmag UK 17 May 2013) Since 2010, Joney has been releasing a broad variety of productions and remixes, ranging from jazz influenced drum and bass, to garage or glitch and post dubstep influenced bass music, to house and techno club tunes. Link | 3 | 1 | Deidre McCalla | Deidre McCalla | United States | Deidre McCalla | Deidre McCalla came of age in the fiery blaze of NYC's folk heyday - a time when Greenwich Village clubs were filled with the likes of Dylan, Baez, and Ochs; a time when Motown ruled the top of the charts and the streets of America screamed with anger and civil unrest. Her first album, Fur Coats and Blue Jeans, was released when Deidre was 19 and a student at Vassar College. With a theater degree tucked under her belt and an acoustic guitar tossed in the back of a battered Buick station wagon, Deidre McCalla hit the proverbial road and never looked back. Deidre later majored in jazz guitar at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music and released three albums with the pioneering women's music label Olivia Records. The Miami Herald affectionately dubs her a "dreadlocked troubadour." From Maui to Maine, college coffeehouses to Carnegie Hall, Deidre McCalla is a much beloved performer in both folk and women's music circles and has shared the stage with a long list of notables that includes Suzanne Vega, Tracy Chapman, Holly Near, Odetta, Cris Williamson, and Sweet Honey in the Rock. With five critically acclaimed albums to her credit, Deidre McCalla remains the ever seeking road warrior, her words and music chronicling our strengths and weaknesses and celebrating the power and diversity of the human spirit. A single parent residing in Georgia with her son, Deidre has taught Performance at Warren Wilson College's Swannanoa Gathering. Deidre's work has been published in Home Girls: A Black Feminist Anthology, The Original Coming Out Stories, and Chrysalis: A Feminist Quarterly, and she is featured in The Power of Words: A Transformative Language Arts Reader. Deidre is a proud member of AFM Local 1000 and the North American Folk Alliance.

Here he graduated in Political science, and debuted in the theatre world under Roberto Leydi, as singer and musician in the band Almanacco Popolare. In 1972 he founded a company, the Gruppo Folk Internazionale, playing mainly songs and music from the Balkans. Ovadia debuted as theatrical actor in 1984. In 1990 he created the Theatre Orchestra and produced Oylem Goylem, which he successfully toured in Italy, France, Germany and USA. Oylem Goylem (Yiddish for "The world is dumb") skillfully melted satire and klezmer music sung by Ovadia himself. In 2005 the spectacle was broadcast by RAI, Italy state TV. In 1995 Ovadia wrote Dybbuk, about the Shoah, considered one of the most important Italian theatrical show of the period. In the same year he produced Taibele e il suo demone and Diario ironico dall'esilio, written with Roberto Andò. His following spectacles include Ballata di fine millennio (1996), Pallida madre, tenera sorella (1996), Il caso Kafka ("The Kafka File", 1997, with Andò), Trieste, ebrei e dintorni (1998), Mame, mamele, mamma, mamà... (1998), Joss Rakover si rivolge a Dio (1999), il banchiere errante (2001), L'armata a cavallo (2003). In 2005 he collaborated with band [a1123004] for their album Appunti partigiani. He has been an outspoken opponent of what he regards as growing racism in Italian society. He received an award from the University of Pavia in October 2007; in his acceptance speech he denounced the treatment of immigrants, especially Roma. In Sept./Oct. 2003 Mr. Ovadia gave an extensive interview to Vered Zaykovsky of the Israeli cultural magazine "Eretz Acheret". It can be found at www.jewish-theatre.com.

Link | 1 | 3 | Abdul Tee-Jay's Rokoto | Abdul Tee-Jay's Rokoto | Abdul Tee-Jay's Rokoto | Abdul Tee-Jay hails from Sierra Leone although his parents and hence his full name, Tejan-Jalloh, come from Guinea. At a very young age, somewhat secretly, Abdul learnt to play guitar. At that time there was music coming into the port of Freetown from many different regions such as soukous and high-life, traditional and popular as well as local musicians: Abdul was influenced by all of these sounds and joined local bands. His family were all very academic and he also went to study in Virginia, USA in 1974. While there he took the opportunities to learn more guitar, use better instruments, joined a band called Spice and learnt to play the dulcimer. In 1979 Abdul came to Britain to work in banking but met other musicians and decided to form a band. This was called African Connection but then in 1982 he felt the need to concentrate on more typical African music, and a pan-African band, African Culture, came into being. Even this was not quite satisfying and at a turning point Abdul resolved to base all his music on Sierra Leone street- and folk music. At this point, 1988, the name of the band changed to Rokoto, the nickname of part of Freetown. Abdul Tee-Jay and Rokoto, a seven-piece band, brought out 3 albums, Kanka Kuru, url=https://www.discogs.com/Abdul-Tee-Jays-Rokoto-Fire-Dombolo/release/4657905]Fire Dombolo and E'Go Lef Pan You (see below and CDs) and have toured extensively to many countries. The band entertained at the Hogmannay celebrations in Edinburgh to bring in the New Year of 1999. More recently Abdul's music is still evolving because he now includes beautiful acoustic palm wine music. For the group Palm Wine A-Go-Go he sings and plays acoustic guitar and has just one or two other musicians on stage with kongoma (bass thumb piano), kondi (thumb piano) and drums. In 2001 they were at London venues such as the Barbican Free Stage and Coin Street Festival. Whether with his full band or the smaller acoustic group, Tee-Jay's voice and music is truly distinctive. A new CD, Rokoto Make Me Dance-Dance has a selection of 12 dance tracks taken from each of Abdul's 3 albums. Currently he is recording both acoustic and electric sounds but is determined to play more palm wine music so that it may live on! Look out for Abdul's new acoustic album Palm Wine A- Go-Go available now! In 2004 Abdul performed at London's African Music Festival in May. If Abdul Tee-Jay had not been living in London in the 80s, when many western music fans first discovered African styles, then his career might have been different. As it was, he had left Sierra Leone to study economics in the US before moving to the UK, where he quit banking and formed his excellent band Rokoto. But he wasn’t taken as seriously as artists based back in Africa, and never received the recognition he deserved. Times and fashions have since changed and Abdul Tee-Jay is still here in the UK, still plugging away, and still in remarkably good form. His last album, released over a decade ago, was an acoustic set in which he revived and updated the “palm wine music” he heard as a young boy in Freetown. It’s an easy-going style, popular at parties where cheap drink is provided by the fermented sap of the oil palm tree, and has obvious links to Caribbean calypso. It can also be remarkably subtle and varied, as Tee-Jay proved. A cheerful, gangling figure in cap and glasses, he perched on a stool specially designed to include a pedal-operated foot drum, and launched into a set that showed off both his engagingly relaxed vocal style and excellent acoustic guitar work. Backed by his countryman Bunton Cole on congas, he started with his own songs, speeding up to a slinky dance style that showed how palm wine music influenced Highlife. He included songs by the early heroes of the style, [a4405380], and [a2940344], giving them scat-jazz embellishments, and followed with an unexpected switch to desert blues, and an impressive tribute to [a410281]. It’s surely not too late for Abdul Tee-Jay to be rediscovered.

His unique way of putting lyrics together has rendered him the status as being one of the most clever punchline emcees on this planet. In 1999 hiphopinfinity.com stated that Kashal-Tee was one of the best emcees around; had he only released more records and recieved wider distribution, he would have been on their yearly top-list that year. He is oftenly compared to Eminem, whom he had a minor beef with in 2000. With just a few records to his name, Kashal-Tee remains exceptionally prominent and frequently quoted.

Thela sprung to prominence in 1995 from the then‐burgeoning Auckland, New Zealand free‐music scene; Their discography up to that time consisting of just three extremely limited, self-released recordings: a s/t cassette [approx. 50 copies], a s/t 12" Peter King lathe [??? # of copies], followed by a s/t triple 8" Peter King lathe [20 copies] released on the [l=Crawlspace] label. These recordings were made by Dean Roberts and Dion Workman, both on guitar. In 1995, after unsuccessfully persuding Forced Exposure's Jimmy Johnson to distribute their lathes, Thurston Moore contacted the band about releasing a CD on his Ecstatic Peace! imprint after hearing their 12" and a cassette sent to Lee Ranaldo from the band. There was an American tour in early 1996 supporting the Thurston Moore/Tom Surgal duo, during which they recorded their second (and final) album. Friction between members began to develop, and on return to New Zealand, Thela unofficially disbanded.

It got number six, because it was the sixth mascot, which was presented at casting and it is associated with the year of the FIFA World Cup in Germany: 2006.

Link | 1 | 3 | Tom Encore | Tom Encore | Tom Encore | Tomasz Stempniewicz Tom Encore (or Tomasz Stempniewicz) is a dj and producer from Warsaw, Poland. Raised in a family of musicians, his experience with sound began very early. But it was not until 2002, when he heard some of Dieselboy's mix CDs, that he discovered his first true fascination. He's been hooked up with drum & bass ever since, but that wasn't the end for musical explorations. Today Tom Encore focuses on dubstep as a producer, but when he plays live he's like a grinding machine mashing up all sorts of electronic music: from wonky, glitch-hop or skwee to dubstep, hip-hop and dirty electro, creating a high energy mixture of bass-driven beats. His talent was appreciated in his native Poland, where he'd given hundreds of gigs and was picked the best Polish DJ of the year 2008 (by the decision of users of DNB.pl, Poland's largest drum & bass and breakbeat music forum), as well as by clubbers and DJs all around the world. After releases on Excision's Rottun Recordings and being showcased on BBC Radio 1 or SUB FM, Tom Encore is gaining more attention fast. Supported by many dj's worldwide, such as Dirtyphonics, Excision, Gaslamp Killer, John B or NumberNin6 to name a few.

Lyrics are Finnish but the themes are global; songs about corrupted politicians and epic tales from the lives of men.

Link | 2 | 2 | LLynch | LLynch | Llynch | Hardcore, Math Rock, Noise, Indie Rock, Prog Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Heavy Metal band from Saarbrücken, Germany From the very beginning LLYNCH has always been about doing things differently. Since the formation of the band, the main goal never changed: creating something memorable and meaningful that every member of the band could identify with. This creative process might take longer than usual but in the end the result is something unique, uncomprimising and rewarding. LLYNCH formed in late 2000 and never changed its line-up since. In 2001 the first EP "The Transformation of Madison" was recorded and released by Scorched Earth Policy Records in 2002. Some of the band's unique trademarks were already obvious on that first offering. Dense atmosphere, unusual harmony and rhythm combined with a strong focus on arrangement and composition that set the band apart from most of their peers. Tours and shows with bands like Converge, Anodyne, Pg. 99 and Crowpath followed and should take LLYNCH to places all over Europe

On the solo LP, singer Alice Hubley from Arthur and Martha also features on the duet 'You Will Struggle' and the single 'Black Dog'. Centred around the use of vintage synthesizers and old drum machines the lo-fi aesthetic of Arthur and Martha is still very much in evidence on the debut album ‘Age Of Anxiety’. Lyrically the LP explores themes such as juvenescent paranoia, romantic despair, love, loss, panic and depression yet while retaining an upbeat pop sensibility. At the end of 2015 'Age of Anxiety' featured in numerous end of year charts the album was pronounced 'Synthpop Album of the year' by The Record Stache. Rodney Cromwell was named most promising act of 2015 by The Electricity Club. The track 'Barry Was An Arms Dealer' was voted into the Official Festive 50 as compiled by Dandelion Radio. |

Link | 1 | 3 | The Furious Five | The Furious Five | The Furious Five | On records, The Furious Five, not billed as a combo with Grandmaster Flash or Grandmaster Melle Mel, usually refers only to the group's five original MCs—[a=Cowboy], [a=kid creole], [a=Melle Mel], [a=Mr. Ness] a.k.a. [a=Scorpio (3)], and [a=Rahiem]—or the four surviving members after Cowboy died in 1989. However, such as on many editions of the "Step Off" single, The Furious Five is sometimes an alias of Grandmaster Melle Mel & The Furious Five, a group which included only three of the five original MCs. So generally, for releases billing The Furious Five as a combo with Grandmaster Flash, see [a=Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five], and for releases billing The Furious Five as a combo with Melle Mel, see [a=Grandmaster Melle Mel & The Furious Five].
