Link | 2 | 2 | School Days | School Days | free jazz | School Days | The group was formed in the Spring of 2000. Originally a quartet put together by Ken Vandermark, the ensemble was expanded in the fall of that year in order to add the Swedish vibist Kjell Nordeson to the ensemble. Esthetically, the band derives much of its inspiration from the classic ensembles of the 1960s free-jazz period in the United States, groups like Ornette Coleman’s Quartet, Cecil Taylor’s Units, and Archie Shepp’s New York Contemporary Five. The ensemble also builds on developments that have occurred in improvised music during the years since then, however. The work of Peter Brotzmann, Misha Mengelberg, Evan Parker, and Anthony Braxton has made an important impact on the ensemble; which has resulted in an approach to improvised music that is compositionally based, but highly spontaneous, containing a tremendous open ended rhythmic and melodic intensity. Currently inactive.

Playing a party-starting mix of psychedelic rock, dance-pop, and world music, the energy and presence of Lovewhip’s live shows is infectious, sexy, fun and over-the-top. The Jamaica Plain, MA based group whip up infectious original songs for those who love shaking their booty on the dancefloor. “Lovewhip may be our answer to Prince, except it's a funky, electro-jam with a female guitar-slinging mastermind!” says Cheap Thrills Boston. Combining the best of world and reggae dance rhythms with 80's synth, the band's sound is topped off by singer/guitarist Empress Erin's soaring psychedelic rock guitar, creating an “irresistible party soundtrack” that fans love! Think Talking Heads, Gwen Stefani and LCD Soundsystem all rolled into one. Lovewhip has released four critically acclaimed studio albums (Whip It Baby!, Bouncehall, Virtual Booty Machine, and Love Electric) and one live album (Live Booty Pop). Their latest album, Love Electric, is a futuristic dance party complete with unicorns, icebots, intrigue, and rock'n'roll! Each song on the album is chock full of catchy hooks, mixing dancehall reggae with disco, pop and rock. The album was produced by Jake Zavracky (producer/composer, of the bands Cyanide Valentine and Quick Fix), and recorded in Boston and Brooklyn. “It all comes together like a Kraftwerk cover band hanging out with Fischerspooner on a DEVO appreciation night at the hottest dance club in town.” Band/Publicity Contact: Jim Countryman jimcountryman@gmail.com Phone: 857-719-6330 Booking: Phil Simon phil@simonsaysbooking.com Phone: 978-544-5112 or Jim Countryman jimcountryman@gmail.com Phone: 857-719-6330

Link | 1 | 3 | Kai Fish | Kai Fish | United Kingdom | Kai Fish | Life In Monochrome is the debut album of in-demand writer, and member of indie-pop royals Mystery Jets, Kai Fish. His first solo endeavor is a highly personal record of sweeping, cinematic, pop, which sees Fish coming firmly into his own as an accomplished artist and songwriter. As bass player and one of the creative driving-forces in the Mystery Jets throughout the bands three acclaimed albums, Fish has always been a prolific songwriter in his own right, having written or co-written many of the bands most well-known tracks, as well as independently penning tunes for the likes of Mark Ronson and The Count & Sinden. While the songs on Life In Monochrome communicate with some of the Jets signature traits of expertly crafted melody and a quirky playfulness, they are also of a distinctively personal and introspective nature, drawing influence from a wide lineage of great British songwriters, from the likes of Ray Davies to Damon Albarn.

His work is characterised by theatrical performances featuring humorous and often savage lyrics with conspiracy, vegetarian and science fiction themes. His chameleon-like talents stretch into other artistic forms; he is also a renowned graphic artist and creator of a range of 'nasty' fluffy toys. His latest incarnation appears in the form of "Ninja", the frontman for the rap group "Die Antwoord" who've adopted a viral marketing campaign.

Before adopting the Trinikas name, Marsha Bratton, Debbie Sheffield, Georgetta Dixon, and Lenise "T-Bird" Morgan sang to hospital patients as part of their junior high school's Paramedical Career Club. Debbie's father, Leslie Sheffield, had been a pioneer on the outer-west jazz circuit, and his insistence that Debbie learn to compose and play the piano ultimately gave her singing group a leg up over their peers. In 1962, they met Richard Gilleland, who had opened a local franchise branch of Saugus, California-based Century Records and planned to release high school music program fundraising albums. The Trinikas and Gilleland journeyed to Independence, Missouri's Cavern Studio to record "Black Is Beautiful," b/w "Remember Me" in 1969. The Trinikas' recordings at Cavern would be their last: Marsha Bratton, the daughter of a stern minister, was on restriction the night of Douglas High's talent show, but she snuck out and performed. On the way home, Bratton's car was struck by an oncoming vehicle, killing her instantly. Douglas High's fundraising album was released by Century in the spring of 1970, carrying a dedication to Marsha Bratton.

Link | 3 | 1 | Kapelye | Kapelye | Kapelye | Led by multi-instrumentalist and ethnomusicologist Henry Sapoznik, Kapelye took a very serious approach to the traditional klezmer music of the Eastern European Jews. One of the first of the klezmer revival bands to record, Kapelye took a broad view of klezmer, mixing folk ballads, labor and political anthems as well as songs from the Yiddish Theater. Sapozink was still a member of the string band called the Delaware Water Gap Band when he began to assemble the musicians to perform at a lecture of klezmer music at Temple Beth-El in Providence, RI in 1979. These musicians included pianist/vocalist Josh Waletzsky, who had previously recruited Sapoznik to help with the music of a film titled Image Before My Eyes about Jewish life in Poland between World War One and World War Two. Several other members of the group, including Michael Alpert (second fiddle, vocals) and Lauren Brody (vocals, accordion, piano) had been active in the Balkan music community. After Woody Allen and Pete Sokolow each turned down offers to play clarinet with the band, Ken Maltz accepted the position. The group's debut performance on November 18, 1979 was so successful that the musicians agreed to continue performing as a full-time band. Taking the name Kapelye -- Yiddish for "a band" -- the musicians began researching and collecting klezmer recordings from the turn of the century. Their debut album, Future And Past, was released in 1981. Levine and His Flying Machine and Chicken followed in 1985 and 1987 respectively. Their most successful album, On the Air: Old Time Jewish American Radio, celebrated the legacy of Yiddish-American radio. Kapelye performed on the soundtracks of such movies as The Chosen, which was adopted in 1981 from Chaim Potok's novel, and Israeli Menahem Golan's 1984 film, Over The Brooklyn Bridge, starring Elliot Gould, Shelly Winters, Sid Caesar, Margaux Hemingway and Carol Kane.

She invests her skills in compositional invention rather than on emerging technologies and her music is full of sensitive atmospherics. In January 2002 the first official Project Skyward EP "Breakthroughs" was released. It received sustained airplay for several months on college and public radio shows across the US and Canada and reached number 15 on the collage charts. The following September the single "Distant Blue" was released on Nebula records. It debuted on the radio show Hindsight KYMC St. Louis, and remained on their play list consistently for over eight months. "Distant Blue" reached numbers 12 and 20 on college radio charts. It was listed at number 165 on the Earshot charts for most played albums on college radio in 2003. The single carried the project's first remix "Shine (Interstellar Mix)", showing a more club oriented side to their sound. At the close of 2003 "Distant Blue" and "Shine" were featured on the Supple Records compilation, "Ambient Volume Two". At the close of 2004, after dealing with some label set-backs, Project Skyward released their first full-length entitled "Strange Synchronicities". The LP flows smoothly and seamlessly from beginning to end, carrying the listener into deep cosmic imagery that is both thought provoking and emotional. The songs are abstract yet do not alienate the listener, vocal melodies and guitar lines get stuck in your head leaving lasting impressions. "Strange Synchronicities" was co-produced and mastered by Joerg Koehler of Malory. Weeks after its release it climbed to number 2 on college charts in both the US and Canada. It's gained the attention of club DJs and offers great remix potential for the electronic dance genre. "Strange Synchronicities" is Project Skyward's most original work yet, displaying their intentions to create a sound which stands outside of classification, and which conjures a unique experience. Project Skyward released a second studio LP, "Moved by Opposing Forces", in 2007. Involved musicians: Ryan Skyward – vocals, fx guitars, synths, computer Charlie Kindred – vocals, bass guitar Aaron Argon – fx guitar, synth Ray Santiago – fx guitars Ricardo Romaneiro – drum programming, guitar Lana Fia – female vocals, synths, electric piano Tatyana Kozupa – female vocals (2002) Ryan Skyward is an electronica artist based in New York in the US. With the band, she released several EPs and three albums before amicably parting ways in 2012 to focus on family and faith. Over the years, she has featured on songs such as the Grammy-nominated hit "Born Again", as well as, "Broken Pieces" and "Take the Bullets Away". After her book debuted, Sturm returned to her hard rock roots, recording her debut LP, Life Screams, with husband/guitarist Josh. Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Sturm's solo support is rounded out by Tom Gascon on drums and Ben Hull on bass. The first single, "Impossible", combined her unmistakable voice with chugging blasts of guitar that will be familiar to her Flyleaf fan base. Her second book, 'The Mystery: Finding True Love in a World of Broken Lovers', is set for release in 2016. -Neil Z. Yeung

Members: Daniel Telling – Lead Vocals & Guitar Millins – Guitar & Vocals Stu Reid – Guitar & Vocals Chris Mapp – Drums O.B. – Bass The nascent power of Seagull Strange first began to show itself in the solitary confines of Daniel Telling's (formerly one half of Nude Records act, King Louis) home studio. Whilst he beavered away on early versions of tracks that would eventually end up on the debut Seagull Strange album, "Better Angels of Our Nature", he noticed plants in the room flourished, his fingernails began growing particularly strong and fast, his nostrils would flare involuntarily, and he would be overcome by an enormous sense of well being and euphoria. Soon, word of this strange phenomenon reached the ears of Oxford based label, Shifty Disco. Shortly thereafter, in an effort to share this with the world, a selection of these home recordings were made available in the form of two E.P.s: the first, a download only release in 2004, entitled "Think Happy Thoughts", followed by a physical E.P. release, in 2005, entitled "Animals". It wasn't long before five other individuals found themselves strangely drawn from different parts of the country to complete the line-up; one of them being Daniel Telling’s former King Louis cohort, Millins. Over five days in October 2006 the band recorded their debut album, which received its Shifty Disco release in the first week of 2007. Described as "Utterly intoxicating", and "Powerful, haunting and sometimes beautiful", the album received a collection of glowing reviews… and a couple of rubbish ones, but we'll keep that quiet. The rest of 2007 saw two single releases, with supporting UK tours, in-store gigs for Virgin and Fopp, and live radio sessions for BBC Bristol Uncovered, BBC Wiltshire, Tom Robinson on BBC 6Music, and Mark Riley on BBC 6Music. Seagull Strange are not an easy band to pigeonhole; described as "One of the most mercurially astute ensembles on the underground scene", they continue to twist, turn, shimmy, cartwheel and caterpillar their way through a myriad of influences, whilst still stamping their very distinctive sound on each track, as they further stretch their musical muscles working on material for their second album. Their music is currently being used in renewed experimental efforts to successfully create cold fusion, grow crops in areas of severe drought, cure cancer, and teach polar bears to dance the Cha Cha. Some say Seagull Strange have tapped into some vital force that has hitherto eluded mankind, others whisper "Dark, Voodoo magic", but whatever it is, when you hear the music of Seagull Strange your life will never quite be the same again. Come… bathe in the healing waters of Seagull Strange. The band are currently locked away deep in a Himalayan retreat recording demo tracks for their second album. With a working title of “Pigdogs and Quaker Women”, recording sessions are scheduled to begin early summer, 2008

Link | 3 | 1 | Schooner | Schooner | United States | Schooner | Schooner were formed in Raleigh, NC, from Reid Johnson's 4-track recordings. Johnson recruited Tripp Cox, and later added Johnson's sister Kathryn Johnson on keyboards and vocals and Billy Alphin (The Ashley Stove, The Rosebuds) on drums in time for the band's first recordings, made in April 2004. These resulted in Schooner's first album, You Forget About Your Heart, released by the Pox World Empire label, which the group promoted by touring the East Coast, playing Pop Montreal, North by Northeast, and more. In 2006, they released the EPs 3x4 and Rocky P, and in early 2007, they signed to 54º 40' or Fight! Records, which released their second full-length, Hold on Too Tight. After the release of Hold on Too Tight, the band nearly broke up, with Cox moving to Baton Rouge and playing with Generationals for a bit. In 2008, Maria Albani (Organos, See Gulls) came on board to play bass, and encouraged the remaining members to get back together. The band began recording again in 2009, and in 2010 released Duck Kee Sessions, recorded by NC institution Jerry Kee. The band began touring again, this time playing festivals from South by Southwest to Northside Festival in Brooklyn, NY. In 2011 Kathryn and Alphin left the band, and Chris Badger (Hotel Lights) joined in on keys while Joshua Carpenter (Floating Action) added drums to new recordings. These sessions featured a collaboration with many members of the NC music community, and resulted in "Neighborhood Veins," released in September of 2013. The band toured around the country and Canada on the release with Johnson, Carpenter, Albani, Nick Jaeger (Wild Fur) on bass, and Patrick O'Neil (The Wyrms, Some Army) on keys. The band's latest release is a 7" split with Can't Kids (Columbia, SC) on Sit n' Spin Records in May of 2015. Schoonernow now resides in Durham, NC

During this period the band played a style of gothic doom metal similar to acts such as [a=Amorphis] and [a=Theatre of Tragedy]. In January of 1999 the band broke up but later reformed with a new lineup in March of 2002. This time the band was fronted by [a=Luca Bolis] and their sound was more influenced by dark 80s electronic music. Following the release of several promo CDs the band have remained inactive since 2008.

Link | 3 | 1 | Finite Automata | Finite Automata | United States | Finite Automata | Finite Automata is an Experimental/Industrial project originally from Pensacola Florida. While their early sound was very reminiscent of Skinny Puppy, Frontline Assembly and Project Pitchfork, their more recent endeavors have fused elements of classic electro-industrial and EBM, with elements of Aggrotech and Industrial Rock. They are known for their highly confrontational and controversial stage shows, which make heavy use of theatrics, makeup, stage props, sharp objects and various noise making devices. In the fall of 2013, the group relocated to Atlanta Georgia. Formed in 2006 by Mod Eschar (Dom Price), the project grew out of a chaotic solo act in which Eschar was the only consistent member until early 2007, when he was joined by long time friend and keyboardist c. Grendel (Chris Stanley). The two were later joined on an off by guitarist and gadgetrist Mat Syn and for a short time, guitarist Vic Martinez. In late 2010, they were briefly joined by programmer/keyboardist Thomas Carpenter, who added a more Terror Noise influence to the project's over all sound. Today Eschar is the only remaining founding member, and is joined by Scott Storey (Formerly of Voodoo Velkro, Skabdriver) and Sidney Pirara (Saint Simian, Formerly of Dawn of Ashes) The group's name is a reference to a concept in Computer Science related to finite state machines and their predefined behaviors, alluding to Humans as such machines and their behavior as being predictable in nature. The band's career grew in earnest in 2010, with an invitation by Ludovico Technique front-man Ben V to play The Florida Underground Industrial Music Festival, which solidified their presence in the Southeast Industrial scene. In 2012, Finite Automata released Recurse, their first full length studio album and is currently in the process of writing for their follow-up release "Dogma Eye" slated to be released some time in 2015. Over the course of their career, they have shared the stage with Combichrist, William Control, Davey Suicide, Slick Idiot, God Module, and The Ludovico Technique.

Shrigley achieves this and much more through his endlessly imaginative observations and fantasies, in which his poetically sideways vision coaxes the world to undress and reveal its more unusual sides. He has the great ability to conspire with absurdity, collude with the poignant and make interesting the mundane. Who else could tackle subjects as diverse as losing your job, the sexual antics of a squirrel or the current state of child welfare with an equally appealing and extraordinary rigour? David Shrigley has exhibited widely around the world. Recent solo exhibitions have been held at Kunsthaus Zurich, Switzerland in 2003; Camden Arts Centre, London; FRAC Bretagne, France and UCLA Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, USA all in 2002. Recent group exhibitions include State of Play at the Serpentine Gallery, London; Britannia Works at Ileana Tounta Contemporary Art Centre, Athens and Emotion Eins at Kunstverein in Frankfurt in 2004. Link | 0 | 4 | Dojo Cuts | Dojo Cuts | Dojo Cuts | Formed late in 2008, it didn’t take long for six piece band DOJO CUTS to become Australia’s hottest heavy funk unit. The band combine crisp, tight, funky instrumentals with some killer vocals by the delectable Roxie Ray that are in equal parts power and grit. Inspired by the sounds of the 60s and 70s, combined with elements of modern funk, Dojo Cuts create timeless, classic feel-good music. Following in the footsteps of Aussie funk groups such as Cookin’ On 3 Burners, The Bamboos, Deep Street Soul and Kylie Auldist, Dojo Cuts seem to be stirring up a storm in the Southern hemisphere and beyond, making them the most likely candidates to become the brightest stars of this fast growing scene. With heavy breaks coming from the inexorably-in-sync rhythm section, accompanied by a harmonious horn section and the awesome vocals of the one and only Roxie Ray, it's easy to see why this band never fails to get audiences strutting and squawking at their explosive live shows. Their self-titled debut album captures all that energy and lets it unfold throughout the 9 tracks it contains, from the cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Uptight”, to that of Marie ‘Queenie’ Lyons’ “See and Don’t See”, originally-penned cuts such as “Say What You Mean” and “Something Going On”, as well as single “The 1-2-3’s”, which secured them massive airplay on radios and dancefloors worldwide, gaining support by DJs such as Craig Charles, Nik Weston, Rob Luis, Lanu and Diesler. Legendary NYC producer Gabriel Roth (The Dap-Kings / Amy Winehouse / Daptone Records) and Neal Sugarman (The Dap-Kings / Sugarman 3 / Daptone Records) have already declared themselves fans of the band, and Roth even wrote the liner notes of the debut album, so you know this is a group worth keeping an eye on! Other projects include a bunch of collaborations for vocalist Roxie Ray, who is featured on tracks by Milano Jazz-Dance Combo, Lack Of Afro, Ray Lugo's L.E.S Express, as well as the debut album by raw funk band from Cornwall The Underbelly, and also check out new afro-funk band The Liberators, made up of a few members from Dojo, with their self-titled debut. In 2012, Dojo Cuts returned with a super soulful second album entitled “Take From Me”, once again featuring the sizzling, smoky vocals of Miss Roxie Ray. This much anticipated follow-up to their debut full-length sees the band taking it back to the roots of soul, but at the same time giving a nod to contemporary funk. "A killer funk group -- with one hell of a soulful singer! Roxie Ray's a newcomer to our ears, but she belts it out here like a classic funk diva from way back -- working perfectly with the tight acoustic grooves of Dojo Cuts, who themselves have an equally classic groove!” - Dusty Groove America Dojo Cuts are: Roxie Ray - vocals Andrew Samuel - drums Matt Lamb - bass Jimi Polar - keys Nathan Aust - guitar Ken Allars - trumpet Mike Gordon - tenor sax Andrew Symons - baritone sax

Link | 2 | 2 | Saidiwas | Saidiwas | Umeå Municipality | Saidiwas | Saidiwas Anarchist vegan straight edge band from Umeå in northern Sweden. They got alot of attention because of their political lyrics, and maybe also because of their drummer who used to play naked. In 1996 their first selftitled MCD was released on Desperate Fight Records, and was followed up by a tour through Sweden as support act for Refused. In August same year they played on the Vort 'n Vis festival in Belgium, and made a big impression on the Belgian kids by refusing to play for a violent crowd. After that, they kicked their singer, because (according to the rumors) he dropped sXe/veganism. Their former drummer switched to vocals, which left the band without a drummer for the recording of their debut-fullength, «All Punk Cons», which was released in April -97, also on Desperate Fight Records. This album have a totaly different sound than their first release. Their new music style is a bit hard to describe, it is a mixture of punk, hardcore and soul. They are also represented on the Desperate Fight Records compilation called "Straight Edge As Fuck III", with the song "Airlines". The song is a bit disco inspired.

Link | 3 | 1 | Baby Grandmothers | Baby Grandmothers | Sweden | Baby Grandmothers | Baby Grandmothers were a short-lived Swedish band, but one of the most prolific and unique psychedelic, modal, experimental power-trios to emerge out of the Scandinavian psychedelic underground-scene in 1967. Although hailing from Stockholm, Sweden they only released a single in Finland, which has since become one of the most sought after pieces of vinyl from the era. Baby Grandmothers were formed out of the legendary R&B / beat band T-Boones in the summer of 1967. T-Boones are probably best known for their “At the club/King of the Orient” single which is one of the best, and most collectable, out of the Swedish garage beat-era. Guitar-wiz Kenny Håkansson joined the band in 1965and with the group down to a trio they drifted into the psychedelic sounds of the time and in August 1967 released the single “I Want You”, which definitely was the first hard-rock recording ever made in Sweden. The band was then re-christened Baby Grandmothers by the co-founder of the newly opened psychedelic club Filips, for which he needed a house-band. Filips was the legendary breeding ground for bands such as Hansson & Karlsson, Pärson Sound, as well as orgiastic all night jams with foreign luminaries such as Jimi Hendrix and the Mothers of Invention. Baby Grandmothers also supported Jimi Henrix on his Swedish tour in 1968 and then turned into Mecki Mark Men, who became the first Swedish rock band to tour the US. Founding member Kenny Håkansson went on to form the highly influential Kebnekajse, who created the Swedish electric folk psych sound.

Link | 2 | 2 | Ocoai | Ocoai | Ocoai | Instrumental, Progressive, Psychedelic Rock band from Johnson City, Tennessee, US Ocoai is a 5 piece instrumental band from East Tennessee, formed in the summer of 2006. They are signed to Missing Words Records in Southern California, and record at Fahrenheit Studios in Johnson City, TN. Their sound has been called everything from post rock & doom metal to Pink Floyd killing a dinosaur. Whatever the categories they've been put into, mainy they're a loud rock band that loves what they do & the bandmates they're doing it with. Having started as a 4 piece, losing an original member & gaining 2 new ones, Ocoai have a sound that has evolved over its six year life span. Live, they incorporate guitars, drums, cello, & keys, while in the studio they've been known to include violin, synth, percussion, & many other noise making devices in their music. Whether performing in a club or creating in the studio, Ocoai is making music that they enjoy, regardless of the consequences or categorization. They have a debut album, released in 2008, entitled Breatherman. In the early spring of 2010 they released a split with other bands from around their East Tennessee home. It is called Peacecreature, and has music from Panzer, Dormia, and Generation of Vipers. Their most recent album, The Electric Hand was released in the spring of 2011. Hopefully listeners will gather joy from what they do & spread both the feelings they experience & the music that stirred those emotions. That is what Ocoai is all about. Link | 3 | 1 | Throats | Throats | Throats | Throats formed in London, UK in 2007 and split the 7th of December 2010. They reformed the 08th of August 2014. Throats are not simply a hardcore band anymore. Bile, rage and despondency have organically mutated an already bitter and angry band into something far more extreme, reckless and dangerous. Throats have now evolved into a monster that, whilst nodding to their own past, now encompass a sound that embraces elements of Napalm Death, Rotten Sound, crust and d-beat into their stoned, cosmic riffs and breakdowns. Throats don’t do sing-a-longs. They don’t do melodies. They don’t do harmonies. In fact, the young quintet barely do songs. Instead they prefer to carve acidic hardcore from riffs that do both razor speed and steamroller intensity and a rhythm section that rumbles like an exploding airliner.

Link | 1 | 3 | Terrafractyl | Terrafractyl | Terrafractyl | Felix Greenlees Felix Greenlees, aka Terrafractyl was raised on a diet of classical music, opera and jazz. Trained as a Bassoon player, Felix worked for the Tasmanian, and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra's as well as Freelancing for Opera Australia between 1999-2004. But At some point in the late 90’s Felix had found his way to an outdoor Goa party in Tasmania, was completely captivated by the psychedelic music he heard there and couldn’t resist trying his hand at electronic music production. Since then, he has been weaving the threads of psytrance, jazz and classical music together, incorporating his love/addiction of piano and a new found addiction for building analog synthesizers. This unique melding of styles quickly led him to become one of Australia’s most prominent electronic music performers Fans have enjoyed Felix’s music at all major festivals around Australia, including the 2012 Eclipse Festival where he preceded the solar eclipse and one fan stated that he caused magical unicorns to descend from the sky, farting rainbows. More recently he has also travelled to share his music in Europe, USA, Canada, Russia, Israel and more. While also working on his other projects, Mental Extensions and Hypnagog, Felix has released two full length albums as Terrafractyl; 'Chrysalis' (2009, Sundance Records) and 'Electronic Evolution' (2012, Vertigo records) as well as over 20 tracks on various compilations. In 2013 Felix established his own record Label Kinematic Records, to help further his vision for psychedelic music. Promoting and releasing music for many innovative and unique psychedelic musicians from Australia and around the world. The first release for the label was the Terrafractyl EP 'A Speck of Dust' and after a busy year or 2 of releases so we're very happy to announce the 3rd Terrafractyl Album 'Imaginings and Fabrications' is out now. In More recent News... he just released a full length (AND FREE!) Album 'Betafractyl' or Terrafractyl the Early Years (2005-2009) Felix's earlier and until now Un-released music.

Link | 2 | 2 | Lunar Dunes | Lunar Dunes | Lunar Dunes | Born out of 100 years of passionate listening and a shared love of Coltrane, Krautrock and the many and varied eccentricities of English Psychedelia, 'From Above' is a record with many antecedents but precious few contemporaries. Emerging from the landscape of Iker Spozio's other-worldly cover painting (itself an echo of the Nubian utopia created by Mati Klarwein for Miles Davis) through to the final idiot funk spasms of 'Scatter', the Lunar Dunes' debut album is that very same pagan yawp - seventy five minutes of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies that would have Bugs and Tweety cranking up their JBL 100s at the drop of an ACME anvil. Lunar Dunes clearly know their 'Live Evil' from their 'Wolf City' but this record offers no hiding place for the oldies fetishist. Recorded in three days, edited and mixed in four, the Lunar Dunes come out sounding at once wholly modern and thoroughly European. Shifting from cacophonies of noise and horror to elongated drifting cadences where time becomes space, here is living proof that the making of truly psychedelic music requires less the ingestion of hallucinogens and more by way of imagination, a love of the form and a disregard for the rulebook. With three hours of music on tape the selection process that produced this double album was pretty straight forward - anything that sounded too much like something they had heard too often before went straight on the cutting room floor. In the words of John Sinclair, a man with more than a passing acquaintance with rock and roll as chaos theory, they will either "make you feel it or leave the room". It is wholly fitting that what is, at times, a confusingly contradictory record should be created by three people whose shared personal histories go back thirty years, but who had barely spent thirty hours playing together before making their debut album. If you can detect some Faust here, a little of 'The Who Live At Leeds' there and the simultaneous holographic presence of Elvin Jones, Tina Weymouth, Hariprasad Chaurasia and even Mick Bolton's UFO then you too are riding down Titan's magic mountains with Saturn's rings visible just out the corner of your eye. 'From Above' - Space Rock without the simulator and available right now from a kosmische kiosk near you. Bio provided by Ian Blackaby (Lunar Dunes)

Link | 3 | 1 | West Point Band | West Point Band | United States | The United States Military Academy Band | West Point Band | The United States Military Academy Band, West Point The West Point Band (also known as the U.S. Military Academy Band or USMA Band), the U.S. Army’s oldest active band and the oldest unit at the United States Military Academy, traces its roots to the American Revolutionary War. At that time, fifers and drummers were stationed with companies of minutemen on Constitution Island, across the river from West Point. In 1778, General Samuel Holden Parsons’ 1st Connecticut Brigade crossed the Hudson River and established West Point as a permanent military post. After the American Revolution, Congress disbanded most of the Continental Army, but “the 55 men at West Point,” members of the 2nd Continental Artillery, remained. Among their ranks stood at least one drummer and one fifer, who alone maintained the tradition of military music at West Point. With the establishment of the United States Military Academy in 1802 came an increased demand for military music. As the academy grew, it needed fifers, drummers and buglers to drill the new cadets and provide an audible order to their duty day. In 1817 the ensemble was named the “West Point Band,” and by this time was performing on a full range of instruments, which included two bassoons, two Royal Kent bugles, a tenor bugle, ten clarinets, three French horns, a serpent (an early bass horn), cymbals, a bass drum, eight flutes, and two trumpets. Today’s band consists of four components: the Concert Band, the Jazz Knights, the Hellcats and Support Staff. They combine to form the Marching Band. The organization fulfills all of the official musical requirements of the Academy, including military and patriotic ceremonies, public concerts, sporting events and radio and television broadcasts, as well as social activities for the Corps of Cadets and the West Point community. As the senior premier musical representative of the United States Army, the band has appeared at many historical events. It performed at the dedication of the Erie Canal; at the Chicago and New York World’s Fairs; and for the funerals of Ulysses S. Grant, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Richard M. Nixon as well as the inaugurations of numerous presidents. Additionally, the West Point Band has collaborated with some of the finest musical ensembles in the country, including the New York Philharmonic and the Boston Pops. Members of the West Point Band have also been showcased in Carnegie Hall and featured on the Today Show, 60 Minutes, Dateline NBC, documentaries shown on The History Channel and Discovery Channel, and CD recordings for Columbia Records. |

Link | 2 | 2 | Floating State | Floating State | Floating State | Floating State Floating State is the name of a Progressive rock band from Italy. The sound reminds one of the best British prog of the Seventies: sudden changes, hard-rock and touching melodies (Michele Moschini can already be considered one of the best voices of the Italian progressive rock scene). Intense progressive romantic inspirations (often in suite form) of Genesis meet the enchanting British folk-rock atmospheres of Jethro Tull. Floating State was founded in the early 1995 by Gigi "Lugifer" Ferri (Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Classic Guitar, 12 Strings Guitar, Mandolin) and Mimmo "Subterranean" Ferri (guitar, Keyboards) with Fabrizio "Bonzo" Binetti (drums), who played together in another band. Gigi knew a singer, Michele "Anarchia" Moschini, who agreed to join the band. Then started the "Calvario" in search of bass guitarists: first the good Gianfranco Aresta (volazzi), then Carlo Cavaniglia, who stayed 'til june 1996, followed by Claudio Signorile. In the mean time the band started composing and often playing live in Bari. in 1998 the band had several problems and had to split. At first chance they started it all again, but without the drummer. This is the most recent part of Floating State experience: in 1999 Beatrice Birardi was the new drummer and the band enlarged with the saxophonist Grazia Stella, and in summer 2000 the line up finally was completed with Francesco "FunkyBlues" Antonino as bass guitarist. These are the musicians who recorded first demo-cassette and released "Thirteen Tolls at Noon" in 2003 for [l=Lizard (2)], and the tribute to King Crimson "The Letters - An unconventional italian guide to King Crimson" for [l=Mellow Records]. In october 2004 Michele Moschini left the band and Marco Esposito, singer, flutist and guitarrist, took his place. The band soon releases the tribute to Moody Blues (Higher and Higher - 2006) for Mellow Records. In 2007 the "Treasure Island" project, the musical version of the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson, is released for Musea-Colossus. In 2008 the band releases the project "Giallo! One Suite for the Murderer", musical version of the movie Profondo Rosso by Dario Argento. In 2009 Francesco Antonino left the band and Simona Armenise took his place.

This line-up appeared on the band's debut release, a 12" EP entitled "The Lords of Nothing" and Shaw's job, creating flyers for a local promoter, helped the band secure spots on shows throughout Chicago. In 1987, Shaw left the group after the romantic relationship between her and Ward dissolved and she was replaced by Zac Conway. This line-up recorded the band's lone LP, "Genericide" in 1988. The band split the following year.
