Link | 0 | 3 | Electric Phoenix | Electric Phoenix | Electric Phoenix | Electric Phoenix was a British experimental electro-acoustic vocal ensemble, founded in 1979 by four members of [a=Swingle II] – Linda Hirst (mezzo-soprano), Simon Grant (bass), tenor John Potter and a sound projectionist/manager Terry Edwards. They left [a=Ward Swingle]'s ensemble due to a disagreement over the repertoire. With a newly-established group, the artists were able to pursue their goal to develop and popularize a unique chamber program for amplified voice and electronics, practically absent on the international new music scene at the time. With the recruitment of Canadian soprano Karen Jensen, a post-graduate student at the [l=Royal Academy of Music], the canonical quintet line-up was formed. [a=Luciano Berio], whose vocal compositions they've been actively performing, always remained a central figure to Electric Phoenix's concept and artistic goals. Berio chose them to present his Sinfonia, and Electric Phoenix subsequently performed it over 70 times with [a=Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra], [a=Berliner Philharmoniker], [a=Orchestra Del Teatro Alla Scala], [a=Concertgebouworkest], [a=BBC Symphony Orchestra], [a=Philharmonia Orchestra], [a=Minnesota Orchestra], [a=Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra] and other prominent ensembles. In 1979, an experienced American sound designer John Whiting joined Electric Phoenix – Terry Edwards passed the sound projectionist's duties to him, moving onstage as the bass singer. Whiting remained with the ensemble for over twenty years. Electric Phoenix also utilized John's October Sound studio in the basement of [l=October Gallery] as a rehearsal and recording space. Electric Phoenix Full Members Soprano [a=Karen Jensen], [a=Elaine Barry], [a=Judith Rees] Mezzo-soprano [a=Linda Hirst], [a=Mary King], [a=Meriel Dickinson] Tenor [a=Daryl Runswick], [a=Andrew Parrott], [a=John Potter (2)] Bass [a=Terry Edwards (2)], [a=Simon Grant (4)] Sound Projection [a=John Whiting]

Link | 2 | 1 | Pale Grey | Pale Grey | Belgium | Pale Grey | They have been touring almost everywhere in Belgium (Dour Festival, Nuits Botanique, Bsf, Ardentes,…), now Pale Grey hits the international road. Their first album Best Friends has seduced both the press and the audience with its combination of indie pop, abstract hip hop and electronic. Midway between Notwist, Alt-J, The Whitest Boy Alive or Metronomy, Pale Grey offers a universe which is groovy, atmospheric and eclectic, while retaining its own strong identity. After the release of their first EP in May 2011 through the JauneOrange label, the band perfomed more than sixty concerts in Europe. Captivated by their project, the English group Errors (Rock Action) remixed the song called Red. Early in 2012, the quartet shut themselves away in its home studio in order to toy with their instruments and record their first album called Best Friends. Surrounded by vintage keyboards, guitars / bass and drums machines, they have gathered their ideas and desires on a dozen songs that range from ethereal pop, abstract hip-hop to indietronica. Accompanied by Anthony Sinatra (Piano Club, Hollywood Porn Stars) who worked as a producer, they completed the record at the Studio 5 in Liege and Oliver Zülch (13 & God, Notwist,...) and Raphael Wynands took charge of the audio mixing. The resulting album, resolutely modern, keeps a pop immediacy while trying to explore new and innovative paths taken by experimental music, hip-hop or post-rock. Best Friends will be released European wise in the beginning of 2014 through the JauneOrange label.

But line up problems posed new challenges to the band. Instead of crumbling Withdrawn found rebirth as Evanesce. The band answered my questions collectively about their incredible album 'Sower Of Sedition' and how they marked that transformation. Er... but not quite like butterflies. Think of something a little nastier. Lets just say, the transformation is complete and we've got ourselves a most formidable death metal band that is as much rooted in the UK scene as it is to the European sound.

Link | 2 | 1 | The Re-Mains | The Re-Mains | The Re-Mains | Lyrically driven by the same muse that nearly killed Ulysses, the Re-Mains fearless country rock and roll crusade is a banjo-edged blur of boot-stompin’ grandeur and epic adventure. With the blessing of Barry Tashian, of the original Boston Remains that toured with the Beatles, the Australian Re-Mains have endured countless line-up changes and become Australia’s hardest working country rock and rollers, touring relentlessly for the last seven years. From major festivals (Splendor in the Grass, East Coast Blues and Roots, Tamworth Country Music etc.) to every outback roadhouse and inner city dive, The Re-Mains have made their mark. 3 albums and 2 EPs in, 4 stars from Rolling Stone and a ‘best country rock band in Australia’ tag from the Melbourne Age under their belts, last year the Re-Mains took the show to Canada. In 4 months they played 64 shows from Vancouver to Toronto and back again, taking in NXNE and playing to 15,000 at the Big Valley Jamboree on the way. They’ve been shot at, hunted by crocs in the Northern Territory, maimed by a rogue steer outside Tennant Creek, lost on the prairie in Manitoba, and found again in Nimbin. The Re-mains fourth album, Inland Sea, might have taken them three years to get out, but it hasn’t been for want of action. Since Love’s Last Stand, their 2006 live album earned four stars from Rolling Stone, they’ve had a near fatal mash-up with a cow in the Northern Territory, two massive Canadian tours and enough line-up changes to put the Melbourne Hit Men Association to shame. “We started recording early in 2007, then went on tour to the Territory and had the ‘meat tray’ incident,” says frontman/manager Mick Daley. “Grunter Bedford and Ramshackle Dave Ramsey were horribly maimed and out of action after that. It took a while to get back into gear. Me and Tom Jones Jnr (bassplayer) were kind of freewheelin’ around with different line-ups, including Louis Tillet on piano one New Years Eve in Maitland, till Shaun (Uncle Burnin’ Love) Butcher came back from winning his bout with cancer, and took up the banjo again.” Revitalised, the band did some more recording, at Christian Pyle’s Lot 61 Studios in Goonengerry, in the Byron Bay hinterland. Then they hightailed it to Canada in ‘08, for en epic four-month tour involving an $800 Chevy van, 16,000 kilometres, nationally broadcast breakfast TV and 65 shows from Vancouver to Toronto and back again. The rest of that year was spent back on the road in Australia, then in 2009 they did it all again, clocking up another 18,000 k’s and adding a circumnavigation of the Rockies with Canadian outlaw folkie Dr Joey Only to their carbon footprint. Back in Australia, they finished the album, at last, and set about getting it out themselves, following the demise of their label, Croxton Records. They were rescued by Austrade, which awarded them an export development grant, in the nick of time to salvage their debts – and pay Christian Pyle. Daley has high praise for Pyle, who had his own winning bout with the big C whilst engineering and playing on the album, twice. “CP is a genius. He takes my rambling ballads and crafts them into … well, something else, something a lot more considered and refined. He also plays a mean guitar, invents most of his gear from scratch and laughs at conventional wisdom, about scales, recording, everything really.” “We had a Canadian version of this album first. Then when we came back, I asked him to do it all over again, ‘cos I wanted different songs on the Australian version. It’s lucky we’re mates, I’ve seen him, er, react differently to similar requests.” It’s more produced than previous albums, which were basically tracked live, to get the bands edgy attack authentically. “This one has the same energy, but more overdubbing and fairy dust. It’s a big sound, a dash of 3D. “It’s got road songs from Canada and more laments about lost love and loneliness, as well as my favourite, an epic about Pumulwuy, the great Koori warrior, and Who Shot Johnny D? a murder ballad from Nimbin.” This winter the band is taking Inland Sea on the road south and west, way west. Well Melbourne and Sydney and Darwin of course,” Daley says. “Then we’re headed out to Bourke, via Brewarrina, Cobar, Coonamble, back where it all started.” The Re-Mains were renowned as the hardest driving independent band in the country when they first started their country rock and roll crusade in 2002. They boasted that they’d played more rodeos, outback dives and inner city hellholes than any other band in Australia. Splendour in the Grass, Six Tamworth Country Music Festivals, five East Coast Blues and Roots, three Darwin Festivals, Woodford Folk, Nymagee Outback fest, Nimbin Mardi Grass, (see sizzle sheet) and every other bush bash they could reach. Four albums, two EPs and more drummers than Spinal Tap. Banjos, pedal steel and balls to the wall country rock and roll. They travelled where most East Coast outfits feared to tread, to the wildest outback pubs, where it was not uncommon to see heads go through plate glass windows while they played. “There’s nothing like the sound of a banjo at full throttle to get some of those country blokes revved for a blue. And even the 3am emos at the Pony in Melbourne warm to it after a few songs.” Their Canadian tours included shows at NXNE, NewMusic West, the Calgary Stampede and nine other national festivals, their compilation album reached Number 13 on the Alberta CBC radio charts and they appeared twice on breakfast TV. But they reserve their highest praise for Curtis, their Chevy conversion van. ‘$800 in Vancouver, we jumped in, drove him straight over the Rockies. He threw a starter motor in Calgary and lost his exhaust early, so everywhere we went we sounded like a Panzer battalion on the attack. We scared bears all over Canada. But that van kept going, two tours in Canada and we left him in Vancouver with Dr Joey Only, who killed him in a week.” With the aid of Austrade they’re returning to Canada next year – meanwhile this year it’s all about the Inland Sea – and avoiding cows. tars. Link | 2 | 1 | Good for Grapes | Good for Grapes | Surrey | Good For Grapes | Good for Grapes is a Pacific Northwest indie-folk band based in Surrey, BC, Canada. They have won both the Rogers urMusic Battle of the Bands, and Supernova's 'Band on the Run to the UK. According to the band, the band's name was taken from something one of the band members (Gomez) had said when offered a snack: “Nah, I’m good for grapes.” (i.e. "No thank you, already had/have some.") The band was formed when a group of friends were traveling by ferry to busk in Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island. They drew crowds while freestyling on the ferry deck[5] and decided that they should pursue the project. Months later they had produced their first EP and started playing small, local gigs. They officially began their career playing in coffee shops, such as The Wired Monk, charity shows, small venues, and eventually began by opening up for bands such as Paper Lions, The Matinee and Mother Mother. They have also gone on to record in Toronto's Coalition Studios and Vancouver's Greenhouse Studios. In 2012 alone they have performed at numerous west coast music festivals, including Rifflandia, Rock the Peach Festival, Vancouver Folk Music Festival, and Live at Squamish. They have also been featured on the YouTube music channel 'Green Couch Sessions.' They were contestants on the first season of Canada's Got Talent, and made it through the Vancouver auditions, but filming conflicted with their tour dates so they had to withdraw from the competition. They have been featured in Vancouver media, such as air time on Vancouver's indie-rock radio station 102.7 The Peak (formerly 100.5 The Peak). They were the "Check This out Tune" on the Peak January 19, 2012 with their original song, "Skipping Stone." Some of their other popular songs include "Little Carmichael", "My Bass" and "London Fog". They have also been featured in articles by the Georgia Straight, the Vancouver Province and Surrey Now. They ended their first summer tour in August, 2012, and often play local shows in BC. A Good for Grapes show often includes energetic crowds who stomp, clap, and sing along. They have developed a very loyal following in BC's Lower Mainland. They recently won an "Inspirational People" award from Vancouver's Close Look Productions. The bands first full length album Man On The Page was released on October 15, 2013. On November 21, 2014, Good For Grapes won the 2014 Peak Performance Project, hosted by The Peak 102.7. They took home the top prize of $102,700.00.

The package also included a blank CD, meant for a free 2nd album downloadable from African Dope Records. Unfortunately the band self-destructed after a farcical 6 week delay in the album’s release (involving wrong cliche designs being printed, customs confiscating and then losing 3000 cds, and a printing bill over which a dispute with the label’s distributor almost bankrupted African Dope). Watkin and Yolandi have nowadays become better known as [a1734550], whereas Sibot and Markus Wormstrom later callobrated as [a870095].

This led him to write a work for jazz piano and orchestra for pianist Mike Lang, which premiered at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles. The premiere of “Nardis” at Carnegie Hall, written for jazz trumpeter Randy Brecker and chamber ensemble “Music Amici,” also led to two groundbreaking albums of his own—which blend classical chamber ensemble and jazz soloists: “Sketches of Miles” and “Sketches of Coltrane” on Angel/EMI records. These are two tribute albums to two great artists, but Olson has made this music very much his own. This music brings a whole new audience of classical and jazz music lovers together through its beauty, excitement, and originality. Now living in New York, this is what he continues to do today. He has worked in many genres: from writing jingles, to orchestrating movies and theatrical productions, to working in the recording industry with instrumental and vocal artists. He has recorded five of his own albums on the Manhattan/EMI, and Angel/EMI labels. His credits include jazz, choral, chamber and orchestral music. Olson has conducted and played piano on many recordings. His musical spectrum is vast. He is a highly versatile artist. Currently, he has teamed up with producer [a=John Vanore] and French horn virtuoso [a=Adam Unsworth (2)] on a project for jazz quintet and chamber orchestra.

Link | 2 | 1 | Hunter as a Horse | Hunter as a Horse | London | Hunter As A Horse | Band members: Mia Van Wyk and Paul Gala. "Always greet a ghost with a handkerchief, otherwise it will leave a black mark on your hand." So said the grandmother of Hunter As a Horse's Mia Van Wyk who, after experiencing a family tragedy on a rural farm in South Africa's Free State, took to writing songs and playing the guitar “only because I didn’t know what else to do with death. Living closely with the Sotho people, and with a nanny who was a Sangoma (African witch doctor) had a profound influence on her upbringing and the music she began to write. Paul spent his teenage years helping his father John Galanakis record traditional African music and hip-hop in his studio, but his real ambition was to explore and experiment with electronic music. Paul and Mia met in 2002 in Johannesburg and started the band Black Rabbit but soon realized that their future lay in London where electronica was taking off in a big way. After writing and producing for other acts in London they decided to start a new project. Initially they named the band Evil Spirit, referring to the presence Mia always felt in the room when she wrote 'real' songs. She believed after so many years of writing commercial tracks to make a buck, the spirit once again returned to help her create real songs. It took them a year to fine-tune their sound and direction and in 2012 they changed the band name to Hunter As a Horse. Hunter As a Horse draw inspiration from sources as diverse as astral travel, shamanism, psychedelia and the macabre, as well as from an eclectic collectanea including Stephen King, Nina Simone, Chopin, Clive Barker, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash and Jan Bartell’s ‘Spindrift’. They live in Richmond upon Thames next to the river and the trees, composing music, learning to astral travel and dreaming up ways to communicate with the other side. Now, after years of subterranean gestation, they are set to haul their ethereal sounds and broody vocals above-ground...

Link | 2 | 1 | The Black Wizards | The Black Wizards | Porto | The Black Wizards | Born in the digital era The Black Wizards are four analogic musicians that throws heavy&fuzzadelic tunes into the air: no bullshit, no gimmicks, just pure soul, emotion and lots of fuzz. They mix a wide range of 60's and 70's influences performed by Jimi Hendrix, Cream and Black Sabbath making a raw well defined sound with lots of fuzz. They release their first EP "Fuzzadelic" (13 feb, 2015) on a friday 13 and it was very claimmed by the critics. But, with "Lake of Fire" (27 Nov 2015), The Black Wizards enter the upper echelon of FFOBR bands (female fronted, occult, blues, rock). Hard rock that seems right out of the seventies with searing leads and powerful bluesy vocals. The thump and swagger of Zeppelin, the grind of Sabbath and fuzz aplenty. This is one burning slab of gritty music made to weather changing times and trends.

Psychic Temple is a singular vision realized by the some of the finest artists on Planet Earth. While soulless corporations pick off your heroes one by one, appropriating their style and mystique – Psychic Temple is set apart, calling you back to a more honest time. Some make art to challenge their own creativity. That is the Spirit of Psychic Temple. The status quo is not good enough. Get better. Formed in 2010 by band/cult leader, Chris Schlarb, Psychic Temple explored avant-jazz territories before pivoting toward folk and soul music on Psychic Temple II. After touring the country with various lineups, a working band took shape around Schlarb’s newfound voice and electric guitar work, perfectly anchored by Tabor Allen’s lyrics and foundational drumming. Psychic Temple III saw the group augmented by collaborators new and old, including Avi Buffalo drummer Sheridan Riley, Minutemen bassist Mike Watt, and jazz trumpeter Kris Tiner. Shifting their focus to adventurous songwriting, Psychic Temple is ready to amass the following that was always waiting for them.

Link | 1 | 2 | Shakeyface | Shakeyface | Shakeyface | Hailed as “ambitious, forward-thinking, and undeniably talented” (XLR8R), Brooklyn-based producer Shakeyface is someone “you’ll want to keep tabs on” (URB). Shakeyface creates a unique blend of leftfield electronics and hip-hop with an indie-rock sensibility, his songs are “adventurous soundscapes” with “thick, dirty beats” (All Music). Abstract hip-hop producer Shakeyface mashes together numerous styles and sounds together for his ecclectic recordings and also DJs in the New York area. Born Doug Smiley, Shakeyface began his musical career in an indie band before attending Berklee School of Music in Boston. There he developed a passion for sampling and began crafting adventurous soundscapes. He subsequently dropped out of Berklee and headed to Brooklyn, where he submersed himself in hip-hop culture. He became the resident DJ at Halcyon and signed to the Quatermass label, which released his debut EP, Puddle Jumping During a Monsoon, in 2002. ~ Jason Birchmeier

They released a two-song 7" single in the spring of 1983 followed by a three-song demo tape in the summer. After the 7" single was recorded, but before it was released, keyboardist Wade Worthington left the band and was replaced by Roddy Bottum. In the late summer of 1983 Billy, Mike and Roddy quit the band as a strike out against Mike Morris, since he was the founding member of the band and could not be kicked out. They then reformed as "Faith. No More." (later punctuated as [a=Faith No More], to accentuate the fact that "The Man" (Mike Morris) was "no more" part of the band.

Who would have ever thought the shared love for punk rock, beers and lots of pointless conversations would end in ferocious and energetic nineties-ish skatepunkrock we like to call ‘RunningLate’. This five-piece fabricates fast punk rock tracks with notable influences of Pennywise, Much the Same, Rise Against and No Use For A Name. In 2013 five tracks were selected to be recorded for RunningLate’s first demo/EP named "Catching Up". After this first release the tracks became part of several compilations such as ‘Say Cheese’ (North Empire, The Netherlands), ‘Sound Of Us’ (Melodic Punk Style, Poland) and made it twice to the Anti-Pop-Punk-Show-Podcast (VacantLotEnt, USA). Between continuing their endless bullshitting around, playing some ‘foosball’ and procrastinate to make a proper bandphoto, the band got signed to Morning Wood Records and recorded their three track EP "Spectators" in the summer of 2014. The EP will be released on January 5th 2015.

Link | 2 | 1 | Big Tubba Mista | Big Tubba Mista | Big Tubba Mista' | Big Tubba Mista's collective experience and expertise range from punk and rock, to jazz. This eclectic mix allows the band to produce a show that is explosive and compelling while retaining the elegance and class inherent in jazz and swing. As they take the stage, BTM's incredible chemistry and command of the stage is immediately apparent as they interact and connect with audiences of all varieties. Big Tubba Mista was formed in late 1997 by members of the punk rock band, Last Call. In one short year, Big Tubba Mista had become media darlings, playing to consistently packed rooms throughout the region, and being consistently featured in the regional press. Big Tubba Mista released their debut CD, "The Sting That's Swing", on their own Dynamax Discs label in the spring of 1998. The disc received rave reviews from fans and critics, and was quickly picked-up for distribution by several national chains, including Camelot Music and Hepcat Records. "The Sting That's Swing" has sold several thousand copies without any significant commercial radio or video airplay. "Knock One Back", the group's 2nd CD, hit the streets in the spring of 1999. Raw and brimming with energy, it was primarily captured as a live studio recording with minimal overdubs. The disc proved to be another success, quickly selling over 5,000 copies. Several cuts from the CD appeared on nationally released Swing compilations such as "New Millennium Swing" (DM Records), and also received heavy airplay as soundtrack music for MTV's "Making the Video" and "Undressed." Throughout the next three years, Big Tubba Mista continued to perform at a breakneck pace, averaging 125 + shows per year. Performances include celebrated venues such as The Supper Club, The Five Spot, Swing 46, and Windows on the World in New York City, as well as numerous colleges and universities, such as Princeton, Towson University, Washington & Lee, Bucknell University, and many others. In the summer of 2000, folks on the left coast finally got a chance to hear BTM, as the band embarked on their first of several west coast tours, playing to a packed rooms at LA's famed swing club, The Derby, as well as other clubs in San Diego and San Francisco. Not content to perform at the standard venues, BTM also headlined prestigious music festivals, including the Pontiac American Music Festival in Virginia Beach, VA and the Berks Jazz Festival in Reading, PA. They also managed to make a splash in the political arena, performing at engagements for both political parties, as well as two appearances as an opener for President George W. Bush on his campaign trail. "Behind the Scenes" was released in June of 2002, and was infused with a highly eclectic mix of swing, country, jazz, and Latin elements. During this period, the band also self-produced and self-financed a DVD documentary, "If You Only Knew", which was completed in late 2002. The 50-minute story chronicles the ups and downs of the group's 7-year history through previously unreleased backstage and concert footage. Big Tubba Mista continued to perform throughout the Eastern United States in 2006 and released a Greatest Hits compilation. This recording took the most popular songs of the past CD’s and put them on one album. Even today, this CD remains a popular choice by many people as they look to reclaim some of the music from the past out of print CD’s. In 2007, the band released its latest CD entitled “Time Will Tell”. This album features an eclectic mix of styles in the original music. From their past history of sharing the stage with Royal Crown Revue, BTM’s relationship and friendship with the members resulted in a BTM original song, “Low” to be recorded featuring Eddie Nichols on this CD.

Raised in the Deep South and headquartered in Nashville, they’re a group of red-blooded country boys who aren’t afraid of the big city. Case in point: Making Ghosts -- the duo’s harmony-heavy, guitar-driven debut album -- whose 11 songs find the middle ground between rootsy, down-home Americana and super-sized arena pop/rock." Link | 2 | 1 | Allusondrugs | Allusondrugs | Leeds | Allusondrugs | Formed in the summer of 2012, Allusondrugs are a five-piece from Castleford, Yorkshire. Their very individual take on a melding of psych-pop-grunge has caught the eyes and ears of the likes of Kerrang, Radio One, NME and Rock Sound, as well as audiences across the UK. Late 2014 / early 2015 has seen the band building a solid live fan-base following high-profile support tours with [a=Enter Shikari], [a=Marmozets] and [a=Lonely The Brave], and extensive touring only sees the buzz continuing to build. Allusondrugs is a smushed together, grammatically incorrect way of saying “everyone is on drugs”. In this case 'drugs' is a metaphor for any trivial rubbish that distracts the population from paying attention to important things that are happening in the world like people dying of easily treated diseases in undeveloped countries, western superpowers using scare tactics to demonize people from other cultures so they can make everyone kill each other in the name of profit and the super rich 1% taking away your liberties to make it easier to suck up as much money as possible while your quality of life slowly decreases. The greedy sociopaths at the top of the mountain are feasting on our souls while we sit in a stupor of ignorance, watching X Factor, eating nutrition-less, processed microwave sausage and mash while we moan about people from other countries “coming over here taking our jobs, it must be true, I saw it on the telly”. We as a society are basically just mindless drug addicts that need to wake up.

As Legionz Ov Hell the duo blends a solid structure of extreme speedkore and influences from progressive black metal, with ritual ambient, dark drones and apocalyptic orchestrations. Lyrically and aesthetically, the Legionz Ov Hell again draws influences from the anti-Christian expressions of the black metal scene, resulting in their unique blasphemous assaults. After the 12" on Speedcore, more releases were planned, "but the labels turned out to be less than serious unfortunately" (Björn Lindström) and thus remain unreleased. Link | 2 | 1 | Full Tote Odds | Full Tote Odds | Adelaide | Full Tote Odds | Consisting of brothers and rappers, Levelheaded & Eslev, as well as Mix Zagger Dj Sanchez, Chris Weber, Willy Metzer & Jack Radford, the boys from Full Tote Odds have been in the music game for more than 15 years. Hailing from a hip hop breeding ground in the Adelaide Hills, Levelheaded and former FTO MC, Slats were members of the group 'Train Of Thought' which released a highly acclaimed Demo (2002) and a hit debut album Moving Heads (2004). The Moving Heads LP was released through Obese Records and featured two emerging Adelaide acts Hilltop Hoods and Funkoars. The album gained national recognition in the Oz Hip Hop scene and the boys performed with a number of well-known acts including Hilltop Hoods, Jungle Brothers, Hyjack & Torcha, Pegz and Funkoars. They were recognized as a Triple J next crop artist and performed live in the Triple J studios with Robbie Buck on the Home & Hosed show. Their left wing political track, ‘Counter-War Terrorism’ appeared on the international compilation ‘Peace Not War’ alongside marquee artists Jurassic 5, Michael Franti and Lyrics Born. In the meantime, Eslev was developing and honing his own musical abilities. A man of many talents, Eslev was a member of Adelaide metal band 'Headbore' and worked on several hip hop projects during the mid 2000’s. His passion for the acoustic guitar saw him work with various artists including Purpose (Pagen Elipsis) and Jack Radford by incorporating the acoustic sound into production. Working closely with Mix Zagger, he produced the sound for the release of FTO’s first album, ‘Place your Bets’. Levelheaded released his debut solo album, ‘The Spice Of Life’ in 2009 which Eslev predominantly featured on as well as guest appearances from Trials (Funkoars) and Reason (Obese Records). Eslev became integral to the live show and travelled extensively as the album tour reached Melbourne, Geelong, Hobart, Adelaide, Loxton and Berri. The lead single ‘Bounce’ received national airplay on Triple J and the LP was nominated for Australian Hip Hop album of the year on Ozhiphop.com. Levelheaded supported West Coast heavyweight, Xzibit and Obese Record’s Spit Syndicate in 2010 as well as playing to a sell out crowd in Mt Hotham. Mix Zagger has been integral to the FTO project, bringing a high level of technical knowledge, creativity and attention to detail to the table. He has been honing his craft through many years of experience as a musician, producer and sound engineer and is now using these skills to take FTO to the next level. The first single ‘Southern Wind’, from the LP ‘Place Your Bets’ was released in November 2011. The single was instantly pushed to high rotation on Triple J and the music video, shot by esteemed filmmaker Richard Coburn has been played on Channel V, Rage and The Loop. The second single, ‘What’s going down’ was released in 2012 and was made an exclusive on the Triple J Home & Hosed show shortly after. The music video was created by Unity Sound & Visual and is just as impressive as it’s predecessor. Since the release of ‘Place Your Bets’ in 2012, the boys have toured the country supporting acts such as Dialectrix and Spit Syndicate, performing at the Margaret River Pro Surf Classic, The Big Day Out, Homebake Festival and Come Together Festival. They also supported the National Slaughterhouse tour as well as playing sell out shows in their home town. Their sophomore record ‘The Chosen Few’ was released in 2015 through MGM records.

Link | 1 | 2 | Entreat. | Entreat. | Slovenia | Entreat. | ENTREAT. began its existence sometime in the year 1997. It was created for one reason only: to fulfill the people involved in it. They came a long, turbulent way from those hazy times and the result is in front of you, Deincubation, their second album. Is it a step forward? Did they manage to catch a sparkle of life's fire in their music? Yes, it sure looks like it. ENTREAT. are from Slovenia. That for itself doesn't say much, but if you are familiar with other bands from that country you will agree that they all feature a certain melancholic turbulence in their music. Clean tone guitars have mixed up many music definitions and the way ENTREAT. play their guitars labeled them emo-metal. However, their roots lie somewhere else: in the North, deep in Swedish hardcore and metal. Two people leaving the band and two new people joining it brought some meaningful changes to ENTREAT.'s musical orientation. After their 7" single and their debut album Shaded, both released by Choose Life Records, their music became harder, faster and more aggressive, but did not lose that special ENTREAT. touch. Although the band's music and its rhythm are close to breaking the limits of hardcore, those roots can still be felt. Matjaž, Miloš, Patrik, Peter and Samo cruised through Europe several times. They refer to those experiences as their magical mystery tours. The last two years they spent in their practice room and at the Alpha Omega studio in Italy where they recorded Deincubation with Alex Azzalli. Now, finally out, from the infamous Alpha Omega studio, released by Moonlee Records, comes Deincubation, their second album, named after the very process through which it came into existence. ENTREAT. presents perceptions gathered in the past and marks new directions. They point the way they are going, taking their music with them. More space to move and more possibilities also mean more difficulties. But as they say: "The art of life is building yourself in a space without a single solid point." Link | 2 | 1 | The Outer Vibe | The Outer Vibe | United States | The Outer Vibe | Through their music and live performance, The Outer Vibe captures a “Big America” energy that is larger than a 1960s Detroit assembly line. Their sound is a collage of the motor city’s passion and power, the upbeat, good feelings of the West coast, and a cinematic southwestern nostalgia, a blend they like to call “surf disco.” The familiar, organic music supports a positive lyrical message of perseverance, maintaining relationships, and a carefree lifestyle. The Outer Vibe’s latest music was created in collaboration with producer Brad Dollar (Grateful Dead, Keb-Mo, The National) and mastering engineer Joe LaPorta (The Foo Fighters, Imagine Dragons, Vampire Weekend) and will be released in early 2015. They filled their studio with dusty vintage amps and keyboards and vintage-modeled microphones to accurately capture the sounds they desired. When asked what the new music sounds like, the band’s immediate response is, “Clint Eastwood drinking a pina colada while listening to Dick Dale.” Offering a more introspective explanation, Dollar says, “When I listen to the latest batch of The Outer Vibe productions, I feel like I’m on a vacation I don’t want to leave. The guitars feel like a Cheshire smile on a sunny beach, the drums beat like perfect waves on the shore. Everything stays glued together with sticky-sweet vocals, trumpets sounding from the west, and bass sounds that walked down from another planet. All at the same moment providing reflection and rejoice.” Their new music is a follow-up to their 2012 album “Hoka Hey”, which independently achieved much success, getting top 5 request at radio in Michigan, Wisconsin and the Dakotas and licensing from ABC News’s “Good Morning, America” and West Michigan’s Baker College in 2013.

Link | 2 | 1 | The Accident That Led Me to the World | The Accident That Led Me to the World | The Accident That Led Me To The World | The Accident That Led Me To The World is an all-acoustic, non-percussive chamber folk trio from Massachusetts. The name was derived from a song that band member Mark Mandeville (guitar, banjo, vocals) wrote called "The Accident That Led Me To The World," which he then elaborated into the concept of an allegorical narrative involving a boy who sails away to an island to be alone. From this concept sprung an entire album's worth of songs, and Mandeville incorporated Raianne Richards (guitar, clarinet, vocals) and Zack Ciras (upright bass) to flesh out the material. The result was the eponymous 2006 debut released on Nobody's Favorite Records, an angular, concise mixture of bluegrass picking, sea chantey sing-a-longs, and folk singer-songwriting. This release was followed by 2008's The Island Gospel, more expansive, more focused, and more lyrical than its predecessor, and which also travels a more country-driven direction. The Island Gospel also continues the allegorical narrative concept that was begun on the first album, and both albums feature artwork which illustrates the narrative.
