Link01Africa 70 Africa 70 NigeriaAfrica 70 Afrika 70 primarily existed the musical backing for the 1970's and 80's Nigerian singer, Fela Kuti. Fela first formed the group in 1963, at which time the group was called Koola Lobitos. The large jazz, funk, and afrobeat collective underwent many changes in the following decades, but the style remained the same thanks to Fela's vision and other key members such as drummer, Tony Allen. In 1969, after visiting America, Fela returned to Nigeria, opened a club (Afro Spot) in Lagos, and changed the group's name to Nigeria 70. A few years later the name was changed to Afrika 70, which was probably the most famous incarnation as they recorded 17 albums between 1975-77 alone. In 1981, Fela changed the name for the last time to Egypt 80.

Link01Robert de Visée Robert de Visée FranceBaroque composerRobert de Visée Robert de Visée Guitarist, theorbo and viol player, singer and composer (born ca.1655 – died 1732/33). He may have studied with Corbetta. About 1680 he became a chamber musician to Louis XIV, in which capacity he often performed at court. In 1709 he was appointed a singer in the royal chamber, and in 1719 he formally became guitar teacher to the king. Rousseau stated that he also played the viol at court. With Francesco Corbetta he was the foremost guitar composer of the French Baroque. Visée's two books of guitar music, "Livre di guittarre dédié au roy" (Paris, 1682) and "Livre de piéces pour la guittarre" (Paris 1686), contain twelve suites between them. He also wrote works for Baroque lute and theorbo.

Link01Jeremiah Clarke Jeremiah Clarke United KingdomJeremiah Clarke Jeremiah Clarke Jeremiah Clarke (c. 1674 – 1 December 1707) was an English baroque composer and organist. Thought to have been born in London around 1674, Clarke was a pupil of John Blow at St Paul's Cathedral. He later became organist at the Chapel Royal. "A violent and hopeless passion for a very beautiful lady of a rank superior to his own" caused him to commit suicide. Before shooting himself, he considered hanging and drowning as options, so to decide his fate, he tossed a coin—however the coin landed in the mud on its side. Instead of consoling himself, he chose the third method of death, and performed the deed in the cathedral churchyard." Suicides were not generally granted burial in consecrated ground, but an exception was made for Clarke, who was buried in the crypt of St Paul's Cathedral (though other sources state he was buried in the unconsecrated section of the cathedral churchyard). He was succeeded in his post by William Croft. Clarke is best remembered for a popular keyboard piece: the Prince of Denmark's March, which is commonly called the Trumpet Voluntary, written circa. 1700. From c. 1878 until the 1940s the work was attributed to Henry Purcell, and was published as Trumpet Voluntary by Henry Purcell in William Sparkes's Short Pieces for the Organ, Book VII, No. 1 (London, Ashdown and Parry). This version came to the attention of Sir Henry J. Wood, who made two orchestral transcriptions of it, both of which were recorded. The recordings further cemented the erroneous notion that the original piece was by Purcell. Clarke's piece is a popular choice for wedding music, and has featured in royal weddings. The famous Trumpet Tune in D (also incorrectly attributed to Purcell), was taken from the semi-opera The Island Princess which was a joint musical production of Clarke and Daniel Purcell (Henry Purcell's younger brother)—probably leading to the confusion.[

But it was not until a certain Antony Hegarty introduced her to the disco constellation Hercules & Love Affair that things started to happen for Nomi. Her debut album with the band Jessica 6 was released in 2011 (the name taken from the lead character of the TV series Logan’s Run). An album where Nomi sings in her deep and dramatic voice over house and disco beats with upbeat choruses. The single, White Horse quickly became a hit at hip nightclubs all over the world.

Link01Musica Florea Musica Florea Czech RepublicMusica Florea Musica Florea Baroque Orchestra, located in Prague, Czechia, was founded in 1992 by the cellist and conductor Marek Štryncl as an ensemble whose ideal is to perform Baroque music the way it was performed in the era when it was composed. Playing on original instruments, supported by study of period sources and aesthetics, has become indispensable and at the same time a characteristic trait of the ensemble. Musica Florea's repertoire extends from the early Baroque through masterpieces from that era's culminating decades to music in the Classical style. It includes instrumental chamber music, vocal-instrumental works both sacred and secular, orchestral concertos, and monumental works in the genres of opera and oratorio.

Link01Deutsche Bachsolisten Deutsche Bachsolisten Deutsche Bachsolisten Die Deutsche Bachsolisten (= DBS) (The German Bach Soloists) is a world-renowned, Baroque-period instrumental, and occasionally vocal, ensemble group that specializes in performing the works of J.S. Bach, such as the suites for orchestra, the Brandenburg Concertos, the violin concertos, the "Double" Violin Concerto, "Air" (from Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D), and the Concerto for Three Harpsichords and Strings in D minor, BWV 1063, among many others. The DBS have also recorded many of Bach's cantatas. However, the group has also recorded works such as G.P. Telemann's Trumpet Concerto in D major, Adagio, the Concerto for two horns & orchestra in E flat, Adagio, composed by Joseph Fiala, and several violin concertos by Mozart. They have also played Domenico Scarlatti's Stabat Mater. This shows that although the ensemble does not stick to purely Bach performances, it does stay mostly within the confines of the Baroque period. The DBS have also recorded well-known works that have become famous to the average musical audience by being used in films, such as Sinfonia concertante for violin, viola, and orchestra in E flat major, K. 364, Allegro Maestoso Fanfare, by Mozart, as played in the film Amadeus, and J.S. Bach's Violin Concerto No. 2 in E major, BWV 1042, Allegro Assai, as portrayed in the film Love Story. Many of the DBS' recordings are on the Laserlight budget label, although recordings can also be found on Philips. Most of the group's recordings are found on compilation CD's of various artists. The ensemble is quite excellent in the renditions of the types of music that it performs, and appeals to most audiences who love Baroque and similar period music. German conductor and oboist, Helmut Winschermann, founded the chamber orchestra, DBS, in 1960. He was a professor at the Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik, Detmold College of Music, and in 1995 became an honorary member of the Royal Academy of London. However, he has continued his post as conductor of the DBS ever since its founding. With Winschermann conducting, the ensemble, which consists of professional players mostly from Germany, has performed steadily on several continents throughout the years. Occasionally, guest conductors have stood in [a=Helmut Winschermann]'s place, such as German conductor Wolfgang Gönnenwein, who has led several choirs and ensembles in Stuttgart. Also, conductor Klaus Martin Ziegler has made some recordings with the chamber ensemble.
