Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

As a child, he lost his eyesight through a bomb injury in 1945. Despite treatments and two operations, his eyesight did not return, so that he was sent to Belgrade as a seven-year-old child to an educational institution for blind children. After he came to Sarajevo in 1957, he sang at Radio Sarajevo and became a permanent soloist at the age of 19. At the same time, he began to compose songs in the spirit of folk melodies and successfully participated in many folk music festivals, especially the “Ilidža” and “Beogradski sabor” festivals. At these festivals, he performed both as a performer and as an author. He recorded his first records in 1960 and was also the exclusive artist of the then-largest record company “Jugoton” from Zagreb. For this house, he recorded a large number of records from his own collection, as well as songs by other authors. Most of his works were sold in large editions. Among his most famous compositions were: “Bol bolujem draga”, “Ima jedna cura u sokaku mome”, “Moj život je rijeka bez obale” and many more. Nevertheless, the most successful composition was “Ne klepeći nanulama” to the lyrics of Ibrahim Dedić, which was recorded in 26 arrangements and versions. According to record companies and numerous surveys, this song is the most successful melody of composed folk music of all time. Parallel to his singing career, he was involved in the organization of the entertainment industry. As a music manager, he organized countless concerts of all kinds of music for many agencies. At the beginning of 2008, he wrote a book entitled “Muzika mog vremena” (Music of my time). Husein Kurtagić died on 27 November 2008 in Sarajevo.

Search Add 20 Adam Peter Shinn Adam Peter Shinn hails from the Queen City streets of Charlotte, North Carolina. This is where he develops his unique blend of sonic soundscapes in his home studio: APS studios. Adam has more than twenty years experience as a multi-instrumentalist and music producer. His interest in music as a whole dates back as far as he can remember. "Growing up, I would go out to our driveway to shoot hoops. At the same time, I would hum melodies in my head. Back then, I wished I had a way to get those ideas down so all my friends could hear them. The creative medium of music is my favorite because when it's done right, the emotion is so real. That's true for both the performer and the listener." Shinn's goal is to find a way to express his emotions through music by any appropriate method. "If I'm feeling peaceful and serene, I'll go that route. If a song needs a traditional intro-verse-hook-bridge-outro structure, I'll take it there. But I won't limit myself. You can't limit music. It's all about vibe and less about tradition. I'm trying to be original and true to my senses, which is my mission as a creative."

At Washington University in St. Louis, from whose engineering program he graduated in 1912, he formed his own college band. In 1916, while working as the manager of the Victrola department of the Scruggs, Vandervoort & Barney store in downtown St. Louis, he cut several sides as leader of W. G. Haenschen's Banjo Orchestra on [l=Columbia]'s personal record label. After serving two years in the Navy, Haenschen was hired to lead [l=Brunswick]'s newly established Popular Record Department in mid-1919. For the next eight years, until summer 1927, he directed Brunswick's house band. Its recordings were usually released under the pseudonym [a=Carl Fenton's Orchestra], but many of the same studio musicians also played on recordings released, e.g., as by [a=The Wiedoeft Ensemble] or [a=Bennie Krueger And His Orchestra]. From 1925, he also broadcast on radio with the "Brunswick Hour of Music". For the next two decades, Haenschen primarily worked in radio. From 1927 to 1931, for example, he served as musical director of NBC's "The Palmolive Hour". He also worked as conductor on the "Voice of Firestone" radio hour. From 1929 to the late 1940s, Haenschen, as Vice President and Musical Director of Sound Studios of New York, Inc., produced World Broadcasting Company transcription records for syndicated radio shows. Haenschen also composed numerous songs, many of them under pseudonyms such as Walter Holliday and Paul Dupont, including "The Maurice Glide" (1912), "Underneath The Japanese Moon" (1914), "Read 'Em And Weep" (1921), and "La Rosita" (1923, as Paul Dupont).

Search Add 20 Andrej Blumauer Andrej Blumauer Andrej Blumauer was a Slovenian musician, composer and songwriter. He was born in Graz, Austria, in 1932. As a child he moved to Ljubljana where he started playing instruments from early age starting with the violin, guitar and trumpet, as far as a certain type of harp, the so called "orglica z registrom" (1956). Soon afterwards he starts his career at the Slovenian Broadcast Chanel - Radio Ljubljana. His talent enabled a professional relationship with the German Hohner instrument manufacturer. Blumauer starts touring Europe, beginning with Austria and Germany, finally departing for Canada (1960) where he gained sufficient popularity (Let's Have a Polka) as well as in the the U.S., changing his name to Andy (1965). Some of his most popular songs are Veseli Ribn'čan, Slovenski fantič, Veseli trobentar, Razpoložene orglice, Zaljubljene orglice, Alpska uspavanka, Na Šmarjetni, Spet sem Doma. Blumauer died in 2013 as one of the most renowned Slovenian folk musicians.
Search Add 20 Popealopes Band from Davis California. With two albums produced by Russ Tolman, this Davis, California quartet isn't defying any laws of logic by bearing a certain stylistic resemblance to True West (not to mention the pride of Davis, Thin White Rope). The popeAlopes' quirky pop rhythms and trancey psychedelic flavors (the latter especially on a noisy cover of the Stones' "2000 Light Years from Home") provide An Adder's Tale with some personality; otherwise, the band's western-flavored guitar rock runs a bit on the generic side. It's probably not due to the change in bassists, but the confident Kerosene is much better, a striking-sounding wash of layered guitar and Steven Dueker's quietly haggard vocals. While the heavy atmospherics overcome songwriting deficiencies, the popeAlopes spin echoes of U2, R.E.M. and the Psych Furs into the stew, making Kerosene a dose of the right medicine.

Before the Second World War, in the year 1936, he published an essay on the literary magazine Frontespizio which was gathering together the most relevant poets like Mario Luzi, and contemporary artists from Ottone Rosai to Giorgio Morandi and Quinto Martini. His essay was titled "Letteratura come vita (Literature as a way of life)", containing the theoretical-methodological fundamentals of hermetic poetry. This was to become a strong poetical movement comprising important poets, such as Salvatore Quasimodo and Eugenio Montale, both of whom would go on to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature (1959, 1975). Bo himself, however, never did and, at the age of 86, was rendered incapable of understanding Dario Fo's 1997 receipt of the Nobel Prize in Literature, saying "I must be too old to understand. What does this mean? That everything changes, even literature has changed. Bo was president of University of Urbino from 1947, for more than 50 years.

His first performance was at the age of 3 where he sang “God Bless America” at a cantata in Albany, Georgia. He taught himself to play piano and saxophone while still a teenager and was playing professionally by the age of 18. At 20, he landed his first recording contract with a newly-formed record label in Memphis, TN known as Pepper Records. He recorded a remake of the standard “Heart And Soul”, which was successful enough to send him on tour with artists Frankie Avalon, Johnny Horton, Chuck Berry, Ferlin Huskey and many others. Herb worked as a singer, songwriter and musician in Memphis, Nashville, Atlanta, New Orleans and New York. He recorded “The Luckiest Guy” and “Suzanne” (with Jerry Willis) on Dot Records in 1961 (both songs which had considerable success in Europe). In 1968, Herb recorded “Like The Falling Rain” released on RCA Victor and “Goodbye Maria” was recorded in the early 70′s (released on Atco Records). When Elvis was in Germany, Herb played live with Elvis’ backing band members, Bill Black and Scotty Moore. Herb has worked with top producers, such as Noel Ball in Nashville (who produced hits “Sugar Shack”, “You Better Move On” and “Anna”). In New York, he worked with producer Paul Vance (who produced “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” and “Catch A Falling Star”). In the 1980′s, Herb recorded his version of Percy Sledge hit “Warm And Tender Love”, which placed him in Billboard magazine. Today, Herb has written many country and gospel rooted Christian songs, some of which are featured on his CD, “Lifeboat”. It is his aim to glorify God through his music and his hope that you will hear something in his music that brings you closer to the Lord. Herb is currently working on an instrumental gospel album featuring tenor sax and still plays regularly in his church.

Search Add 19 WC3 WC3 formed in 1979 as [a1003264], with a sound compared by many to the likes of the Stranglers and Marquis De Sade. After a short period in the underground, with many shows ending in confrontations between the band and the audience, the group quickly differentiated themselves from their contemporaries by signing to a major label (in this case CBS) on a three-album contract. CBS, however, wasn't willing to adequately promote the group, which resulted in poor sales and tensions between the band and label became increasingly strained. Unfortunately, just as they fulfilled their contractual obligations with CBS, guitarist and keyboardist Janine committed suicide in 1984. This, combined with the negative experience of recording their first three albums, resulted in the dissolution of the group that same year, before they were able to seek out a new label.

Search Add 19 I Canterini Vecchia Sturla I Canterini Di Sturla - Vecchia Sturla The Genoese singing team was born on board the ancient ships of the Republic of San Giorgio (from about 1500). Its constitution is explained by the fact that on a ship it was possible to find a tenor, sometimes two and thus a sailor or two who had baritone voices. The basis of this improvised chorus was the more common bass voices. There were no female voices, but it was replaced by some hub or some very young sailor who sang falsetto and who was called contralto. Here is the Genoese singing team formed: a contralto, a tenor, one or two baritones and seven or eight basses. Vecchia Sturla is one of those teams, the best known and by far the best. To understand and taste its character and style, we must not forget that it is made up of authentic workers, unaware of music, who sing by ear, learning their parts by heart and relying solely on their innate musical instinct. In his songs Vecchia Sturla almost improvise; and the inevitable imperfections of execution, instead of diminishing interest, increase it. Who listens and he has to have the feeling to hear the people sing who has not studied music, but that music is in his blood. Who does not know what counterpoint and harmony is, tonic and dominant, fourth or fifth jump, but which simply and naively expresses that deep vein of singing that is proper to the Italian soul.
