Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025
Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 20 | Владимир Глоцер | Владимир Иосифович Глоцер (Vladimir Iosifovich Glotser) | Russian literary critic, scholar, screenwriter, and essayist (27 July 1931, Moscow, USSR — 19 April 2009, Moscow, Russia). Vladimir Glotzer is best known for his extensive research and publications of the early-Soviet era avantgardists and neo-futurists, most notably, OBeRIu group (the "Union of Real Art;" ОБэРИу, Объединение Реального Искусства in Russian), including [a=Daniil Charms], Alexander Vvedensky and Nikolay Oleynikov. In the 1990 and 2000s, he was heavily criticized as an official representative of Alexander Vvedensky's estate, effectively blocking any writer's publications and aggressively prosecuting several publishers. Vladimir Glotser began his career as a secretary for Korney Chukovsky and Samuil Marshak. Between the 1950s and 1970s, he was a head of a literary studio at the Lomonosov Children's Library. Glotser also directed numerous radio plays, with over 50 children's LPs and 10" records released by Melodiya. In modern Russia, Vladimir Glotser focused on early-Soviet experimental literature, primarily [a=Daniil Charms] and Alexander Vvedensky. In the 1980s, he assembled and published memoirs of renowned painter Alisa Poret (1902—1984), which served as one of the primary biographical sources on Kharms. In 1996, he tracked down the writer's second wife, Marina Durnovo (née Malich; 1909—2002), who escaped the Soviet Union after Daniil Charms passed away in 1942 and lived in Venezuela at the time. Glotser taped a series of interviews with Marina, subsequently published as a critically acclaimed My husband Daniil Kharms memoir in 2000. Since the early 1990s, Vladimir Glotser had officially represented Alexander Vvedensky's estate. His approach was heavily criticized, as Glotser effectively made the writer's texts unavailable by demanding non-negotiable and unreasonable royalties and threatening legal action for unauthorized publications. Moreso, Glotser sued several companies for pre-existing material. According to renowned philologist Mikhail Meilakh (who co-published a four-volume "samizdat" edition by Daniil Charms in Bremen, Germany, in 1978–88), Glotser's lawsuit against "Sovetsky Pisatel" printing house for '94 OBeRIu Poets book drove the publisher out of business. |

In New York, he worked with producer Paul Vance (who produced “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” and “Catch A Falling Star”). In the 1980′s, Herb recorded his version of Percy Sledge hit “Warm And Tender Love”, which placed him in Billboard magazine. Today, Herb has written many country and gospel rooted Christian songs, some of which are featured on his CD, “Lifeboat”. It is his aim to glorify God through his music and his hope that you will hear something in his music that brings you closer to the Lord. Herb is currently working on an instrumental gospel album featuring tenor sax and still plays regularly in his church.

(WWW.SHINNIE.NET) IRAN-BORN AFSHIN MOHAMMADI STARTED HIS MUSIC CAREER IN TEHRAN IN EARLY 2000'S GLOBAL RISE OF DANCE MUSIC. FLAGSHIP OF A GENERATION THAT AIMED AT ESTABLISHING IRANIAN ARTISTS IN MAJOR PLATFORMS OF THE MUSIC INDUSTRY. HIS PASSION FOR ARTISTRY STARTED AS A TEENAGER PLAYING LEAD GUITAR FOR A LOCAL ROCK BAND; WHILE PROGRAMMING BEATS FOR UNDERGROUND RAPPERS AND ASSISTING IN FAMILY-OWNED RECORDING STUDIOS. BORN 1 OCTOBER 1989, AFSHIN'S TALENT IN ART WAS NOTICABLE FROM EARLY ON. HIS RATHER ART-LOVING FAMILY INVESTED IN SPORTS, ARTS, AND LINGUISTICS FROM YOUNG AGE, PAVING WAYS TO EXPRESSION OF HIS GIFTS. DREAMING ABOUT BECOMING A HISTORIAN, AND AN EXTREME IDEA OF BECOMING A HAND-GUN DESIGNER, HE SPOKE A FOREIGN LANGUAGE BY THE AGE 5, WROTE POETRY BY 7 AND BEFORE PRE-SCHOOL, AND READ BOOKS BEYOND HIS AGE IN THE COMING YEARS. FROM HIS FIRST PUBLIC PERFORMANCE IN PRIMARY SCHOOL WHERE HE SANG THE MORNING RITUAL; NATIONAL ANTHEM REMIXED ON A GUITAR FOR INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL THAT GOT HIM IN TROUBLE; TO OBTAINING TAE-KWON-DO BLACK-BELT-DAN-5 IN 2001 AND BECOMING THE YOUNGEST SABUM IN IRAN; THEY ALL WERE EARLIER SIGNS OF A YOUNGSTER AIMING AT SUCCESS. IN 2000 AND UPON ENTERING HIGH SCHOOL, HE WAS GIFTED WITH AN ELECTRIC GUITAR THAT RESULTED TO A GROUP PERFORMANCE PAYING TRIBUTE TO ROCK GUITAR ANTHEMS ACCOMPANIED BY HIS GUITAR INSTRUCTOR SHAHRIAR TVAKKOLI AND REZA TAJBAKHSH IN NIAVARAN PALACE (2001). LATER HE WOULD JOIN SHOKOUFA FILM AND HAMED RAZI FOR SOUND MIXING AND EDITING ASSISTANT IN AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION BROADCAST KHATT-E-GHERMZ (2003) AND MOSAFERI AZ HEND (2004); WHILE LEARNING TO REVENUE FROM BEAT-MAKING AND COLLABORATING WITH UPCOMING MUSICAL ARTISTS IN LESSER KNOWN RECORDING STUDIOS. IN MID 2006, IN A WAVE OF SOCIAL CHANGE AND IN LACK OF DOMESTIC GROWTH PLATFORMS, AFSHIN AND MANY LOCAL ARTISTS PROCEEDED TO LEAVE IRAN TO OTHER COUNTRIES, IN PURSUIT OF A PROFESSIONAL MUSIC CAREER. MOVING TO MALAYSIA ALSO FOR ACADEMIC STUDIES, HE WAS THEN INTRODUCED TO THE ART OF DJING BY THE LIKES OF XES XES LOVESEAT, RAYSOO & TERRENCE C. A GROUP OF COLLEGE FRIENDS IN 2008, INCLUDING DJ AFSHIN MOHAMMADI, PARTNERED TOGETHER TO MONETIZE TH3RAPY SESSION THAT WHICH WORKED AS RESIDENCY/ ORGANIZATION IN THE ONLY ELECTRONIC VENUE OF THE CITY AT THE TIME, STUDIO BAR. IT ULTIMATELY BROUGHT MASSIVE EXPOSURE TO THE ORGANIZING CREW AND ESTABLISHED CITY OF CYBERJAYA AS A PARTY-ZONE FOR STUDENTS FROM CLOSE-BY UNIVERSITIES. Utilizing an extensive library of samples (typically derived from children´s TV shows), the band has released records in an eclectic variety of genres ranging from Blackened Grindcore to lofi Hip-Hop to easy-listening ballads. Prolific is the best way to describe the relentless arsenal of albums released month after month by the band. Recurring elements include: spoken word vocals haphazardly played over a dissonant slap bass line, reinterpretations of songs from the 60s and 70s, and cacophonous songs layered with dozens of tracks. The influence of Wesley Willis can be heard in songs like “Bizarre Jordan Triangle” and “Zach Manack” which feature humorous, confusing, and absurd lyrics. Song themes generally revolve around fictional stories of Kevin's friends or musings on obscure or asinine facets of life.

Search | Add | 20 | I Canterini Vecchia Sturla | I Canterini Di Sturla - Vecchia Sturla | The Genoese singing team was born on board the ancient ships of the Republic of San Giorgio (from about 1500). Its constitution is explained by the fact that on a ship it was possible to find a tenor, sometimes two and thus a sailor or two who had baritone voices. The basis of this improvised chorus was the more common bass voices. There were no female voices, but it was replaced by some hub or some very young sailor who sang falsetto and who was called contralto. Here is the Genoese singing team formed: a contralto, a tenor, one or two baritones and seven or eight basses. Vecchia Sturla is one of those teams, the best known and by far the best. To understand and taste its character and style, we must not forget that it is made up of authentic workers, unaware of music, who sing by ear, learning their parts by heart and relying solely on their innate musical instinct. In his songs Vecchia Sturla almost improvise; and the inevitable imperfections of execution, instead of diminishing interest, increase it. Who listens and he has to have the feeling to hear the people sing who has not studied music, but that music is in his blood. Who does not know what counterpoint and harmony is, tonic and dominant, fourth or fifth jump, but which simply and naively expresses that deep vein of singing that is proper to the Italian soul. |

Search | Add | 19 | Al Swainger | Born in 1972, Al began playing the cornet and piano at the age of 6; he also tried the trumpet & tenor horn before finally settling on the french horn at 11. His teen years were spent in a wide variety of ensembles and stylistic settings – classical, jazz, pop and rock – often 4 or 5 days a week throughout his schooling. Mainly performing on french horn at this time but also on piano and self taught electric guitar and bass. He also developed an enthusiasm for computer music, composing & arranging extensively using sequencing software and home recording equipment. Al earned his degree in music from Colchester institute in 1993 and a teaching certificate the following year from Bretton Hall. Whilst studying for his degree he held the piano chair in the university big band as well as continuing to play orchestral french horn. After completing formal studies Al became a part time instrumental teacher for Devon Youth Music. At the same time he started to build a reputation as an electric bass player, musical director & arranger amongst the local soul & big bands, spent several years with world music improv band Rifiki and a short spell with heavy rock band Aesculus Hipp. With the collapse of the teaching arm of the music service in 2004 Al took the opportunity to become a full time self-employed musician and to expand his skills into playing double bass as well. Since then Al has run a jazz jam session at the Globe in Exeter for 3 years, an improvisation / composition workshop called The Other Compass, the E.S.P. jam session in Bristol and the successful Blue Vanguard Jazz Club with Coach York & Craig Milverton since 2011. His own bands (Monkey’s Uncle, Time Wasters, Power of Time Monkeys, Mother Popcorn, the Art Trip and most recently The Al Swainger Q'tet) have always met with critical approval and delighted audiences. Al's reputation as a sideman is formidable and is well known as someone able to slip easily into any context and sound like he's been doing it all his life at a moment's notice. He has been awarded 5th place in the British Jazz Awards three times from 2012-14. See below for a full rundown of collaborations through the years. He continues to break new ground as a freelance artist and has released albums with the Art Trip (Music of Art Pepper), art rockers Grice (Alexandrine), omni-fusion trio Snow Giants (UN), his own solo project Pointless Beauty (A Lonely Vigil / After & Before / Shall Brothers Be) and Biophosmos : The Music of Chick Corea.

Search | Add | 19 | Lito Escarso | Argentinian pianist, orchestra director from Santa Fe (died in 2008).

Search | Add | 19 | Joss Henry | Joseph Gabriel | Number one in Reunion in 1978, the “Couzin Couzine” sega was also a huge success in Mauritius, the Seychelles, Madagascar and even the West Indies. Joss Henri had started his career six years earlier with a coup by winning first prize in the 1972 Star Show competition on MBC Television. In 1975, he recorded his first 45 rpm “Rendez-Vous Sous La Montagne” and he was noticed by a certain Alain Gili who helped him make himself known to the Reunion public at parties, balls and fairs. Installed in Reunion, Joss Henri enrolled at Sacem and one nostalgic evening, he composed in a few minutes on the Barachois the sega “Couzin Couzine” which would make him famous. His period in Reunion will also be rich in wonderful encounters. Guitarist in the group Les Caméléons, he did a few shows with Alain Peters and René Lacaille. He was always pleased to have provided the opening acts for the evenings at the restaurant La Ferme where Luc Donat was a star attraction. His recording career continued mainly in Mauritius and the Seychelles with 45s of reggae sung in Creole. At the same time, Joss Henri discovered his talents as a storyteller and the Ministry of Arts and Culture hired him as a cultural facilitator in schools (traditional stories and Sirandanes). It was in 2001 that Joss made his comeback on a CD “Chemin La Kampagne,” with the cover of “Couzin Couzine”. The same year he recorded the album of his new songs “Valer Nou La Suer”. A repertoire in which he exhibits his art of living to the rhythm of Sega. In this mature CD, the title song is the observation of a harsh reality. Joss Henri (Joseph Gabriel for civil status) went to join in the musicians' paradise his colleagues Coulouce, Alain Macabé, John Kenneth, Nelson, and Jocelyn Perreau. The religious ceremony took place Monday afternoon at the church in Pointe-aux-Sables, the coastal village where he died at the age of 57, on Saturday September 14, 2007, with his companion Danièle Ithié. The singer's ashes will fade beyond the breakers. |

Search | Add | 19 | O!Dorian | Emil Dorian Löfström | New pop sensation O!Dorian is a figure shrouded in mystery, who first surfaced in the beginning of 2023 with the single “Going to the Mecca”. The theories about his origins are numerous. Some say he is a Jewish prince who got bored of the opulent palace life and decided to pursue a career in music, or possibly a British aristocrat who wanted to exchange his tweed for sequins. Others claim him to be a notable soldier who rose through the ranks of the Army of Lovers to become a no-hit-wonder in the 1990's. Unconfirmed rumours insist that he is either the secret love child of Patsy Stone and Salvador Dali or the result of a very secretive government genetic research project to create the perfect pop star. The simple explanation might be that he is Emil Dorian Löfström, struck with a (not so) sudden case of megalomania and inspired by his artist friends such as Leila K, Army of Lovers and BWO who has decided to write a new chapter to his life's story by taking to the stage and the world of creating music in the genre of Grand Luxury Overdose. |

Search | Add | 19 | Jean-Louis Deny | Jean-Louis Rosely | - Jean- Louis was born into a family of nine children, his father was a civil servant at the Reunion prefecture and his mother, a housewife. He followed a normal educational path (school, middle school, high school). - It was thanks to his brother Pierrot (Pierre Rosely), ten years his senior, that he discovered music because he was already part of a French variety group “Les Loups”. He imitates his big brother when he rehearses at home with his group. And he will always be at his side when Jean-Louis launches into song. - At the age of 14, he participated with his friend Christian Savoula in a Radio crochet at Barachois but were unfortunately excluded from the competition. - In 1970, fan of singers such as Christophe, Santiana, Gérard Lenormand etc.... Jean Louis became a singer of sentimental varieties. THE FIRST RECORDING AND THE BEGINNING OF CAREER - Between the ages of 14 and 18, he sang French variety with a Saint André orchestra "Les Roadster" and performed on radio hooks, in parties and in nightclubs such as the New Escale, the Twist Pavillon at the time. - In 1974, when he was only 19 years old, he married Régine Boyer and had three children together and that same year he flew to the metropolis to join his big brother. - From 1975 to 1979, he was a civil servant in the PTT. However, he maintained his contact with music thanks to his brother Pierrot who at the time had already acquired a certain notoriety with the song “Mary Lou”. This period will be beneficial for him because he will discover recording studios and he thinks he has a chance, because he is always placed in the top three of singing competitions. - In 1977, he was placed second in the Grand Concours de la Chanson de Paris with a composition by his brother “Compte pas su de moune” which the public renamed “Cécilia” and it was the first success of his career. This is how he begins his recording journey. His first success was distributed by Piros, his brother's record company. His popularity on the island, without any promotion, will reinforce his desire to make a career in singing and he will continue to perform on stage. - In 1978, with the help of his brother, they released their second 45 rpm “Unménage” and which received a good reception from the public like the following disc “Laisse a moin mon liberté”. SUCCESS AND SUCCESS The Albums of J.L. Deny - In 1979, Pierre Rosely decided to return to Reunion and created the Piros recording studio in Saint André. To help his brother manage the company, Jean-Louis decided to return to his native island the following year and in 1980 he recorded “Su L'bord de mer”. That same year, he moved with his family to Saint André, his older brother becoming his best advisor and confidant. He completed his musical training by learning the profession of sound recordist and subsequently became the right-hand man of his brother Pierrot, he took care of sound recording as well as the catalog of the company's artists. But during this time he continued to enrich his repertoire by recording other successes such as: “Ne me gauche” in 1980, “Bye bye darling” in 1981, “Mon amour je délire” in 1982, “Les Matins avec toi” in 1984 and 1987 “Marie Réunion”. He also performed on stage during numerous musical events organized by metropolitan areas and one of his fondest memories was that of the “Tropical Evening” in Rouen in 1977. Over the years, Jean Louis became an experienced technician at Piros and as he also takes care of the distribution network, he is less and less available. He ended up slowly and discreetly disappearing from the podiums to devote himself to running the company. - In 1989, he took over the management of the Piros company and expanded the catalogs with numerous musical trends in addition to those from the Indian Ocean. He subsequently organized evenings in nightclubs for popular artists in Reunion. And he also enriches his catalog with new artists of the new generation. - In June 1998, he organized the Séga cocktail evening at the Olympia with more than 25 Reunion artists like Michou, Tiana, Cassiya etc... and hosted by Thierry Jardinot and Didier Mangaye. |
