Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 16/12/2025

Found 617983 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 3 Anne Lanzilotti Violist, born 1983 Kanaka Maoli musician dedicated to the arts of our time. A "leading composer-performer" (The New York Times), Lanzilotti’s “conceptually potent” work is characterised by explorations of timbre and an interest in translating everyday sounds to concert instruments using nontraditional techniques. Her musical voice is grounded in experimental practices, both through influences as part of the network of musicians / artists in the Wandelweiser collective, and her own explorations into radical indigenous contemporaneity. “Lanzilotti’s score brings us together across the world in remembrance, through the commitment of shared sonic gestures.” (Cities & Health) Lanzilotti was honored to be a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in 2022 for her string orchestra piece, with eyes the color of time, which the Pulitzer committee called, “a vibrant composition . . . that distinctly combines experimental string textures and episodes of melting lyricism.”

Search Add 3 Lost It from 2003 tour press sheet: "BIO: Lost It started bare bones in the fall of 2000 from the angst that arose in three Baltimore college kids, Dan Owen, Scott Nussman, and Nick Riddle. Dan and Scott had come from grindcore/hardcore punk backgrounds, and they were interested in starting a "powerviolence" band, a style that arose out of CA in the early 90s with bands like Spazz, Infest, and Crossed Out. Nick Riddle came from more of a garage/punk rock background and was interested in starting a fast/heavy hardcore punk band. At this point, LOST IT existed for no other purpose but to serve as an outlet... as it continues to serve us today. LOST IT recorded a 7-song demo in a beat-up practice room in 2001. Despite many show cancelations and dealing with shoddy people, LOST IT went on its first tour in the Summer of 2001 hitting such mentionable places as Richmond, Allentown, Columbus, Olean, and Charlottesville. The venture served us well and gave us a feel of the road. In the Summer of 2001, Nick left the band due to creative differences but still remained a close friend to date for both Dan and Scott. LOST IT recruited Rfus Platt, also a college student in Baltimore at the time, to play drums. During the fall of 2001, LOST IT became increasingly influenced by sludge, doom metal, and stoner rock. Yet coming from hardcore punk backgrounds, it took some adjusting to incorporate this new influence. In the Fall of 2001, LOST IT recorded a new six-song CD at Death Monkey Studios in Annapolis, MD. This record speaks to the self-hate, angst, aggression, depression, and contempt the band was experiencing in their personal lives. It was an escape from shitty relationships, broken friendships, tired dreams, and general stress and anxiety. In the Winter of 2001, LOST IT headed out on a 9-day East Coast tour hitting up such mentionable places as Greensboro, Kingsport, Atlanta, Burlington, and Philadelphia. On this tour, LOST IT incorporated the psychedelic noise of Maryland noisician, Dave Litz. This tour provided itself to be 10 times better than the previous tour both in terms of crowd reaction and the quality of the shows. 2002 was a quiet year for LOST IT as Dan Owen headed abroad for half a year to study in the United Kingdom. When he returned, the band reformed from hiatus and concentrated on songwriting. Throughout 2002, LOST IT experimented with their sound and songwriting process, and by the spring of 2003, the band was ready to head into the studio once again. This time LOST IT recorded in the homemade studio of Hugh McElroy, the lead vocalist and bassist in Dischord Records' own Black Eyes. The six songs LOST IT recorded ended up creating a stir in the Baltimore/DC area and more attention was drawn to the band. Soon after this recording, the band decided that they wanted to add more to their stage presence, so they enlisted Steven Kerchner, of local grind metal sensations, The Seventh Gate, to take on the responsibility of vocal duties. Steve's addition to the band added a new level to the band, and the live performances from his addition onwards have left audiences ecstatic and bewildered. LOST IT concentrates on primal live energy combined with a powerful, heavy sound that takes audiences off guard and leaves an impression. With their third winter tour, LOST IT is looking to have a good time while proving to southern audiences once again that their sound is like the rumbling of a withered beast rumbling through the rotten valleys of Virginia. LOST IT has played with/has upcoming shows with such bands as Floor, 16, Bongzilla, Weedeater, Fleshies, Kiss Of Death, Swarm Of The Lotus, Anodyne, KEN Mode, Municipal Waste, Tear It Up, An Albatross, Black Cross, Voorhees, Charm City Suicides, Backstabbers Inc., Sutek Conspiracy, Kiss The Cynic, Kill The Man Who Questions and more." Note: Bongzilla later canceled the previously mentioned show. Nate, who was not mentioned in the bio, was the original vocalist and appeared on the band's first demo. He left the band for personal reasons shortly prior to their first tour; leaving Dan and Scott to quickly write lyrics and adjust to having to perform vocal duties. The band played live the Third Rail Radio Program on WMUC 88.1 FM College Park, Maryland in late 2003. Scott left the band for personal reasons; making the last show of the band's 2003 Winter Tour his final show with the band. A friend of the band, Mike Romano, joined LOST IT on bass following Scott's departure. The band disbanded in 2004. Dan, Rufus, Dave, and Mike went on to form Vincent Black Shadow. Steve and Scott went on to form Vog.

Search Add 3 Thrush Holmes Thrush Holmes is an artist based in Toronto, entirely self-taught in painting and mixed media. His work is spontaneous and experimental, spanning imagery from reclining nudes, matisse-like flowers, and poetic landscapes that contrast with a punk sensibility. Holmes’ paintings are made contemporary by their varied and inventive use of materials (spray paint, neon light, driveway sealant and oil stick), which elevate an aggressive exploration of romance and mythology. Holmes previous solo exhibitions include PULSE MIAMI courtesy of BEERS, London (2016) Heavy Panting and More at the Mike Weiss Gallery, New York (2014); VOLTA NY courtesy of Mike Weiss Gallery, New York; and group exhibitions such as What’s Up 2.0 curated by Lawrence Van Hagen, BEERS London (2016). His work is found in permanent collections worldwide including the Elton John Aids Foundation, Sony Music, Dreamworks Studio, and Def Jam Records among others.

He started playing the guitar at an early age, and with his younger brother Emmanuel they formed the groups 'Everlasting', and 'Cisum' and played in Brittany during the 1970s. Bertrand also worked in ballroom orchestras from the age of 15 and this, for ten years to earn a living. In 1980, at the age of 25, he decided to leave Rennes where he had lived for seven years and moved to Paris. In Paris, he played with pianists Mico Nissim and François Couturier, saxophonist Philippe Delettrez, double bassist Jean-Paul Céléa, drummer François Laizeau, music inspired by jazz and modal music. He played in the group of the three Kabyle sisters "Djurdjura", and with the "text" singers Romain Didier or Jean Guidoni, with the progressive folk group "Gwendal", the jazz violinist fusion Patrick Tillman, the drummer Xavier Jouvelet, accomplice of organist Emmanuel Bex and his afro-jazz music… In 1981 and 82, he recorded and played with the group “Sax Pustuls”, but this one unfortunately dissolved quite quickly. Search Add 3 The Cinnamon Firm Hugh Burns - Vocals, Guitar Joe Curley - Lead Guitar Michael "Denny" Dennison - Organ Jeff Lynas then Kieran McCann - Bass Paddy Johnston then Norm Burns - Drums The band were formed in November 1997 by five friends from belfast's mod / 60s revivalist scene. After only five rehearsals the band played their first gig at Copperfields in Belfast . In April 1998 Kyran McCann took over as Bassist from Geoff Lynas. The five piece were picked up by manager Jim Rielly, erstwhile of from 70's punk legends Stiff Little Fingers. This led to a session at Novatech Studios where they recorded their debut EP (which ended up being an albums worth of material). They took just one day to record 11 tracks. The subsequent release "Cottonwool Crossroads" was very well received, especially within the UK mod scene . The band then toured throughout the UK and Ireland and received some interest from US record labels. 1998 Norm Burns took over Drums from Paddy Johnston and a collection of new songs were then laid down at Ja Studios in March 1999. This led to interest from a well known boxing promoter Dean Powell. The Firm embarked on a frenzied summer of gigs and secured a regular spot at the Creature Club (Vicos). The song 'Doing Me Wrong' from the Ja sessions was penned for a single release in August 1999, however in early August everything started to break down, an american record company that was interested in signing the firm pulled out due to the death of the the record company's owner and soon to follow was the departure of the bands manager Jim Reilly. It wasn't long after that before the band started falling apart due to disappointment more than anything, Joe and Kyran packed their bags which effectively killed off the band, so rather than trying find to replacements and continue along the same path - Hugh and Norm decided to explore new directions while still drawing on their deeply ingrained influences by forming The Keepers. Paddy and Denny went on to form The Penny Dreadfuls (re-named The Dreads) Highlights of the time with the Cinnamon Firm include performing on BBC/ RTE television , playing with such great bands such as Nine Below Zero and of course spending a few hours with the modfather himself ---. Search Add 3 Dreklings Born in an alley on the South side of Chicago in 1993, Dreklings was a litter of lonely and malformed puppets who couldn't see their reflection in mirrors and were scared of their own shadows. They eventually multiplied and evolved into giant winged creatures, sometimes resembling gargoyles, sometimes angels. Never willing to conform or compromise, they survived on their sole primal instinct of sleep, occasionally dreaming. Sadly, Dreklings met their demise in 2003 at the height of their evolution, having just grown tentacles and the developed the ability to emit a fear toxin from the slits in their wrists.

Search Add 3 Red With Envy Nothing shy of the hardest working band north of Sacramento, Red With Envy expresses the united soul of four modern day metal Mozarts. An unbridled stage persona has become the defining characteristic of RWE, coupled with catchy tunes and a relentless work ethic, RWE has exposed a refreshing angle to hard-rock. With personality coming from every aspect of their creations, these seasoned musicians are a highly motivated freight train of talent. Drummer, Nick Harris, creates a heavily aggressive beat that lifts the crowd into a disgruntled mix of feeling; even before the first words are spoken. It was the Beastie Boys with Bad Brains concert that turned Nick on to a career-oriented goal of performing in a band. With heavy influences from bands like the Deftones, Weezer, and Lagwagon, Nick is able to create a feel to his beat that is unmatched by anyone sharing the genre. With roots in Redding, California, he has kept his talent fairly local, perfecting his sound and brewing a rock that will one day shatter the glass eye of conservative America. On bass guitar, Randy rumbles the stage along with the internal bear of the audience into a melting pot of vibes. Millville, CA is the original home the bass player. With influences that include Sevendust, Tool, and Led Zeppelin, he knows exactly what type of flavor to add to every riff and passage in order to get the desired response from the audience. Being the last to join Red With Envy, he was the missing string on a now flawless fret board. Playing bass for eight years and constantly searching for knowledge, Randy will never be content with his skills; this promised to be one of his most colorful attributes for a future in professional entertainment. “Don’t talk like Robin Hood unless you can shoot a bow and arrow like him.” These are the words of Chavez, the vocal talent that stands as the front man for Red With Envy. His wildly individual personality is magnetic, as represented through the crowd’s response. Though he has a voice all his own, his stylistic goals are that of The Deftones, Tool, and The Used. Representing the voice of the band is always a difficult task; however, he takes on the mission with open arms and a smile on his face. Austin comes in with a slightly different musical approach and taste, adding a mixture of creative influences ranging from Sublime to Tool, and even Bob Marley. Eight years of experience is always a plus in establishing creative and musical intuition. Playing in bands like Flipside and Monkey Box, his onstage performance makes for a must see to believe show. His repertoire is overloaded with styles and personality making his sound so incredibly unique, there is only one place on earth to hear this mixture of tone, creativity, and inspiration: Red With Envy.

Search Add 3 The Dead Puppies The Dead Puppies were formed in February of 1985 with Tommie Gunz (Thom Ryerson) and Leroy Deadboy (Joe Maagdenberg) in the city of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. Both Tom and Joe were first year students in Confederation College's film production course. Tom was originally from London, ON, and Joe from Hamilton, ON. They began as a punk country outfit, and cut a 12 minute tape consisting of 8 original tunes. A week later Trash (Joe Lafontaine) was added to the line-up and they cut another tape, live off the floor. This time out they were a little more serious and added an edge to the songs and lost the country flavor. 'The First Cut' was issued in March 1985 with 10 more original tracks. Summer break came and the band was on hiatus until the fall. Trash was replaced by Harry P. Ness (Harry Smith) who in turn was replaced with Craig Moorhouse, another film arts student. On February 4th 1986, which was also the 106th anniversary of the Donnelly Massacre, Tom, Joe and Craig convened in the film production supply room, and set up a studio. Using nothing but a 175 Watt Peavey Tube Amplifier, two Nagra IV-S Reel to Reel recorders, a Sennheiser and a Shure microphone, and a pile of patch cords and custom made tape loops, the three art students recorded two reels worth of 'music.' It was like nothing they had made before, and the recording of the track, 'Persuasion' was video-taped. (It's a video up at YouTube, check it out!) The session went for about four hours. The tapes were labelled Volume 1, and Volume 2, and then sat on a shelf for the next seven years. The boys graduated college and went on their ways. Tom settled in Cambridge, Joe in Toronto, and Craig in London. In February of 1993 Tom and his musical current partner, Stan V. Antone, took the 1986 recording session off the shelf, as as Tom had just bought a reel to reel, and they transferred the music to cassette, editing it into a 45 minute project called 'Pathological Profile.' The tape was released in April 1993, and quickly got airplay at CHRW in London, and a review in the National Campus Magazine 'Chart.' In January of 1994 Tom put together a box set of all the Dead Puppy recordings, plus three new songs that had been written in 1985, but not performed until December 1993 with Thom on vocals, Stan on guitar, Mike Vandecamp on drums, and Jeff Harris on drums. The box set contained a book with lyrics to all 29 songs, all the tracks from "E.P.", "The First Cut," and "Pathological Profile." We move ahead to when "Pathological Profile" was re-issued on cassette in April of 2005 and promoted again, to little interest. We then entered the CD age, and Tom and Stan re-edited the 1986 recordings, re-titled them, and rose again like the phoenix as Cholera. The CD was issued on June 7th 2008 under the new title of 'Sky Skraping.' We now move from the CD age to the digital age, and Tom and Stan figured it was time to get this music out across the internet via CD Baby and i-Tunes. Here we are, exactly thirty-two years to the date, and now the 138th anniversary of the Donnelly Massacre, which occurred near Lucan, Ontario. Tom and Stan believe they received positive energy from the Donnelly spirits. Tom & Stan count these following bands as their major influence; Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV, Coil, The Kronos Quartet, J.O.M.F., Glen Branca, John Cage, Philip Glass, Liabach, Diamanda Galas, and John Zorn. Thank you all!

Search Add 3 Cool Bananas From "Albert Archives" liner notes [silently corrected]: "Musical Salesmen. Arch-lunatic Rory O'Donoghue has a bizarre background in rock music. His teenage groups The Pogs and Oakapple Day were kings of the north shore socialite party set and Cool Bananas, a pop-jazz outfit, enjoyed similar posh popularity. Rory's original concept was for a utility group of ace musos who could back him on his many TV/Radio commercials as well as perform/record as a regular group. As the two purposes merged, Cool Bananas found themselves performing alongside films and slides at launchings of such products as kitchen furniture and overseas travel. Although they never had any aspirations to become the new Sherbet, the group did have a nifty little turn laid on in their honour at Chequers, at which guests were treated to garbage bins full of frozen babanas. Members were (mostly) Rory, Don Reid, Wayne Findlay, Stein Boddington, and drummer Robbie Dearlove, who was replaced by Russell Dunlop on this single and a few gigs for GTK. Cool Bananas backed Kevin Johnson on his first album and then split, with Don Reid resurfacing in Crossfire and Rory O"Donoghue becoming a member of the Aunty Jack TV team and subsequently singer of the national number one hit "Farewell Aunty Jack"."
