Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024

Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 4 The Morricones Austrian Band - Linz Oberösterreich --- As a homage to the sound aesthetics of the infamous Spaghetti Western, THE MORRICONES create their own "Western Drama". With acoustic guitars, double bass and drums, the band draws tonal landscapes and tells stories of tragic, only vaguely outlined heroes with heavy emotions. She meets her tendency to melancholy with a touch of irony, because you shouldn't always take the songs very seriously. Reduced singer / songwriter pieces, orchestrally prepared rock ballads, cinematic soundtrack music as well as relevant rock songs are in the repertoire of the four Upper Austrians. And whether your acoustic alternative rock is served in the Irish pubs or on the largest stage in the country such as the Gasometer or Nova Rock - the songs are lively, close to the public and, in addition to all the pathos, also served with a wink! In addition, through the harmonious, two-part vocal parts, the music develops painfully beautiful moments even in the most disturbing songs, which show that a western drama does not always have to be loud and even the heart of an outlaw can be gripped.

Search Add 4 Ādolfs Kaktiņš Latvian opera singer (baritone) (born July 26, 1885 in Ērberģe, Latvia [then Russian Empire] — died July 25, 1965 In San Jose, CA, United States). Kaktiņš worked as an apprentice for several craftsmen and trained as an accountant before he began his stage career. In 1902, he had his theatrical debut in the theater of the abstinence society "Auseklis" in whose choir he and brother Robert were singing. Between 1908 and 1913, while playing increasingly more important dramatic roles at a variety of theaters, he took singing lessons. His first operatic role, in 1910, was the Prince in [a=Konradin Kreutzer]'s "Das Nachtlager in Granada". In 1912, he won a three-year contract with the Nuremberg State Theater, where he sang in Wagner's "Ring des Nibelungen," Verdi's "Troubadour" and others in the 1913-1914 season. The start of World War 1, however, forced him to return first to Riga, and then, when the front came closer, to flee to St. Petersburg. Between 1915 and 1918, he performed in various Russian cities in front of Latvian refugee audiences. Having returned to Riga in 1918, Kaktiņš began working at the Latvian Opera (from 1919, the Soviet Latvian Opera). He performed the title roles in Wagner's "Flying Dutchman", Verdi's "Rigoletto", Mozart's "Don Giovanni," Tchaikovsky's "Eugen Onegin" and many others, including operas by a series of Latvian composers. From 1925, intrigues forced Kaktiņš to go abroad for some time. During this time he performed at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo and at the Théâtre National de l'Opéra in Paris. In 1934, he acted the role of Maigas' father in the first Latvian sound feature film "Son of the People" (director H. Ballašs). During the German occupation from 1941-1944, Kaktiņš continued to sing at the Riga Opera and give numerous concerts elsewhere. In September 1944, he followed the retreating German armies to Germany. He spent the next years performing to Latvian refugee communities in Germany. In July 1949, he emigrated to the United States. There he continued to perform in concerts and at theatrical performances organized by Latvian emigrants in the U.S. and Canada. He made his living, however, by working for a number of companies before he finally turned to chicken farming. Starting around 1910, Kaktiņš recorded both operatic arias and Latvian folk songs for numerous labels.

Search Add 4 The Evolution of the Arm The Evolution of the Arm channels imaginary chamber music from an alternate universe. A quartet of improvisers drawing on collective experience in classical, jazz, experimental, noise, and theater music, they’ve developed their telepathic connection across genre, time, and space. The group first convened in November 2017 in Buffalo, NY under the creative auspices of Western New York expatriate Michael McNeill (keyboards, composition). Having worked together in various combinations in Wooden Cities, Buffalo Bach Project, and Parvenue, Mike called upon Megan Kyle (oboe, English horn), Evan Courtin (violin, voice), and Katie Weissman (cello, electronics) to join him in this new endeavor. Very quickly, the group decided to focus solely on their own compositions. Since 2017, the Evolution of the Arm has performed at various venues in Buffalo and McNeill’s new home state of Virginia. Throughout this time, the group’s repertoire has come to include the original semi-composed/semi-improvised suite Jackrabbit’s Palace by McNeill, Courtin’s trio pawns for oboe, cello and voice (featuring poetry by Marina Blitshteyn) and pieces of Kyle’s ongoing text-score project, the Invisible Series. Weissman frequently rounds out programs with cello and electronics improvisations. In the summer of 2019 the group recorded their debut album Sounds Like with engineer Chris Jacobs at the University at Buffalo. Their individual and collective musical explorations continue to evolve.

Search Add 4 Seomoon Tak Lee Su-jin Seomoon Tak, a female South Korean rock singer with a powerful voice and a wide vocal range, is an alumna of Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, and majored in Music Production and Engineering. She debuted in 1999 and sold her first album over 300,000 copies and her second album over 300,000 copies. After she debuted in Korea, she regularly had more than 1,000 live performances per year, and radio and TV shows appearances. She released 6 studio albums (Korean), 2 studio albums (Japanese), and 2 single albums, and recorded multiple movie and television soundtracks. Marty Friedman, the guitarist of Megadeath, also featured her second Japanese album. Besides her recordings, she was casted as Yitzhak, the musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Acid Queen, and the musical The Who's Tommy in both Korea and Japan for many years. She is the first and only Asian Berklee student who was selected to perform for both "Singer's Night" and "Singer's Showcase" in front of over a thousand audiences at Berklee Performance Center for multiple times. In 2012, she appeared a Korean TV show, I Am a Singer 2, where selected veteran Korean singers by advisory panels perform and compete each other. This sensational concept raised the Korean music scene to a higher level, and let the audiences truly focus on authenticity and quality of the music and the vocalist. Chinese broadcasting company adapted this show, which made a huge success in China. Seomoon Tak survived for five months and she made the final round of the entire season of the show. As she released her second single in summer 2013, she started a project band, Seomoon Tak Band. This January, Seomoon Tak Band successfully had their solo concert in South Korea.

Search Add 4 H.A.L.O. Vessel HALO Vessel began after Ed Matus decided to take a break from the Miami Hardcore scene and go straight into the world of experimental electronica. Armed with a drum machine, an old synthesizer and an army of noisy guitar pedals he began to record a series of 4 track recordings which caught the attention of Audio Electric. In 1998, Audio Electric released his first full length effort. The self titled full length (also known as "Post Miami Vice Electronics" drew heavily from the influences of Herbie Hancock, Kraftwerk, and Jan Hammer, but still showed off a noisy and raw sensibility which gave Matus a reputation for making sonically organic electronic music. Though certain trademarks would remain evident, his overall sound and direction evolved into what became his second release for Audio Electric, "Honest Men" E.P. Released in 2002, "Honest Men" was a quantum leap in terms of sound and style. In the first HALO Vessel full length, the overall vision was of smooth rhythms and futuristic synths. In "Honest Men", rhythms became aggressive, destructive, and pregnant with heavy bass. The synths were no longer smooth and futuristic. In "Honest Men", they became jagged, and at times, even howled like gigantic rusting machinery. Aesthetically speaking, Matus was displaying a different future than the one he showed in his first release. After the live experience of HALO Vessel, Matus deliberately set out to make a recording which almost sounded live as opposed to the very dry and sterile production heard in many IDM recordings of the time.

Search Add 4 Exebelle Known as "Exebelle And The Rusted Cavalcade" until 2017. Taking inspiration from Virginia's folk tradition as well as the rural country-rock of Ryan Adams, the Band, and Neil Young, songwriters Philip Heesen and C.E. Wright formed Exebelle & the Rusted Cavalcade in September 2007. Kerry Hutcherson joined the duo soon after, having previously cut his teeth with the local group Copper Sails, while bassist Ryan Owenby enlisted after the disintegration of his own Richmond-based band, Motion Picture Demise. The lineup remained intact for the local release of The Skeletor Sessions in 2008; shortly thereafter, though, Wright returned to his native Utah. With their original frontman gone, the remaining members began incorporating thick harmonies and varied instrumentation into their previously stripped-down music. The Antipoison Creek Sessions displayed the new sound in 2009, with each member contributing lead vocals to at least one of the EP's four tracks, and the countrified C.A.F. followed a few months later. Exebelle wrapped up the year by putting the finishing touches on Vivement l'Automne!, which appeared in early 2010. That same year, Virginia native Ben Willson joined the group on piano and vocals, making his Exebelle [record] debut on 2011's "V". - Andrew Leahey, AllMusicGuide Having gone without drums for quite some time, the band gained the aid of Mike Trimble for a short while in 2011 -- who had performed previously drummed with the band, some years before -- but then were back to square one when nature called Mike to LA. In 2012, with Phil's newly-acquired position in the popular Richmond band "Long Arms", he and their drummer Greg Butler became fast friends, leading Greg to graciously agree, along with Willson's friend and former bandmate Steve Chiles filling Owenby's spot on bass, to join the ranks of the Cavalcade in their quest toward a rowdier, more rewarding destiny. In 2014, Butler moved on and Exebelle welcomed drummer Kevin Willoughby into the fold. In early 2017, Exebelle welcomed bassist Mikey Bryant (Alabama Thunderpussy, Kid Is Qual) to the band.

Search Add 4 Christine Jane On a flickering old TV set many moons ago, a small girl sat in her living room in suburbia, mesmerised by the closing scenes of a short film made by her father. As the camera panned out and the credits rolled she heard what would become a familiar and beloved sound: the ringing out of those iconic chords we know as ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ by Crowded House. The film, the song, and the enthralling story of how her father obtained the rights to use it began a love affair with music, the screen and the mystery of songwriting. Christine Jane’s eclectic tastes and world wide travels lead her to find her sound: ‘cinematic blues’. She has been compared to artists who share her love of storytelling, darkness and the enigma of song such as Nick Cave, K.D. Lang, Beck, Feist, Fiona Apple, Tom Waits, and Neil Finn. She is haunted by the voices of yesteryear that move her soul- Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley and Dusty Springfield. Her songs are deeply personal and reflect on loss, love, listlessness, and the shadows of despair. Each can be a world unto itself, collaging sound, mood and substance depending on the character she inhabits. Christine Jane cut her teeth collaborating and performing across her beloved home town Sydney with artists such as Jack Moffitt (The Preatures), Peter Fenton (CROW, The Tall Grass), The Johnnys, The Apartments, Steve Clisby, Queen Porter Stomp and more. She has toured roads unknown across this Great Southern Land with Claire Anne Taylor, Allensworth, Aine Tyrell, Elephant Sessions, The Tall Grass, The Apartments, Broke House and CJ Stranger to name a few. Her debut EP SINNERS COME & GO was released in 2012 and is filled with dark poetry and eclectic sounds. Her follow up single MAKE BELIEVE sends you to a smoky Spanish dive bar with its raw sensuality. Released in 2013, it’s available for free at Bandcamp. In 2014 Christine ran a successful crowdfunding campaign to record her first full length record. Produced by Josh Schuberth (Josh Pyke, Lenka, Shane Nicholson), H E A D M I L E S was released in 2015 to glowing reviews and national airplay on ABC radio and community radio around the country. “Christine Jane not only has a voice that stops you in your tracks, but she is a great songwriter as well. Headmiles was one of my favourite local releases last year and I look forward to her future efforts. Definitely one to watch.” – Paul Gough, host of ‘The Inside Sleeve’ on ABC Radio National, creator and presenter of Playback and Chimes on the national community radio network The lead single from H E A D M I L E S ‘In This Night’ spent four weeks in the national top ten of the AMRAP Community Radio charts ascending to #3, cementing Christine Jane as a formidable talent in the alternative Aussie music landscape. She is currently self-producing her third record SONGS FOR BLEEDING HEARTS and runs monthly live music night ‘For Folk Sake’ on a charming rooftop in Redfern.
