Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024
Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 3 | archeus | "archeus" is a free improvised group of Keiko Higuchi on vocals, Shizuo Uchida on bass, and TOMO on hurdy gurdy. Extraordinary trio ensemble of vocal/voice, bass, and hurdy gurdy triggers an unique chemical reaction of various expressions such as sensitive sound within silence, vocalization of a forgotten and nameless language, interplay of discordant masses of sound, the magic of minimal repetition, and dark/dense drones. They also attempt to improvise with text readings. It is as if the words are given resonance, and appear as a spirit, then seem to melt with the sound.

Search | Add | 3 | The Defoliants | A trio formed in Chicago in 1984 by Mather high school chums [a=Rob Warmowski] (bass, vocals) and [a=Jeff BBQ Cohn] (drums), adding [a=Chuck Uchida] on guitar soon after. The Defoliants were influenced by hardcore punk, surf/garage music and pop culture. They were known for a strong live show and a nerdy sense of humor, belting out a speedy hybrid of alien punk-pop mated with surfy instrumentals. Appearing often with Chicago punk mainstays such as [a=Naked Raygun] and [a=The Effigies], their songs and sound struck a (reverby) chord with disaffected loners, rock and roll essentialists, hardcore kids and others found in the under attended 1980s Chicago punk scene. Their finest moment may have been opening for Fugazi’s Chicago debut at Club Dreamerz. The band released one cassette, one 7″ (“Hang Ten”, [l=Pravda Records], 1988) and one LP (“Grrr”, 1989 [l=Angry Fish Music]) in five years together, making possibly 40 songs. They appeared on a WNUR Northwestern University radio compilation. Recorded an LP with the legendary [a=Iain Burgess] (Black Box Studios) engineering, which was released by West Berlin record label [l=Angry Fish Music]. They wrote and performed the music for a TV commercial soundtrack for a Schwinn BMX bicycle. Their song "Steakhouse" was in the movie “The Borrower” starring Rae Dawn Chong. They started recording a second LP to be called "Menthol" in Chicago with Burgess in 1989. That year, after touring Europe they came back home to Chicago and broke up in 1990 without completing the second LP.

Search | Add | 3 | Juan Pérez Rodriguez | Juan Pérez Rodríguez was born in Huelva in 1984. He is a flamenco pianist and composer and son of the great singer [a8499540]. His personal concern has led him to take an interest in other music, having graduated in classical music in Spain and Paris; and in jazz at Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA), after receiving a "full schollarship" scholarship, becoming the rare exception of a flamenco musician with a career in classical piano and a great Berklee degree. He has known how to incorporate the knowledge acquired in these musical fields into his flamenco roots, having enriched his sound, and developing a personal language always within the flamenco channels. Pérez Rodríguez has lived in Paris (2008/09) and in the United States (2010/2016). Now since 2016 he resides in Madrid where he combines his work as a musician inside and outside the country with teaching. Meanwhile, despite his young age, the young Huelva-born musician has played in theaters and festivals around the world, including the Flamenco Festival in New York and Chicago (USA), Qatar National Theater of Doha (Doha, Qatar), Teatro Masrah al Madina (Beirut, Lebanon), Maestranza Theater (Seville), BPC Theater (Boston, USA), Roulette Theater of Brooklyn (New York USA) Festival del Cante de las Minas (La Unión, Murcia, Birzeit University (Birzeit, Palestine) ), Boston Performance Center (Boston, USA), Baruch Concert Hall (Haifa, Palestine / Israel), Asunción Jazz Festival (Asunción, Paraguay), Cantabria Jazz Festival (Spain) Regarding his training, it should be noted that he has studied classical piano, in Huelva, Seville, and at the Conservatoire De Boulogne Billancourt (Paris, France), Baroque Organ and early music with the organist Andrés Cea. He studies jazz in a self-taught way, and later at the prestigious Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA) graduating in jazz piano and composition with the qualification "Summa Cum Laude", the highest qualification granted by American universities. He has recordings, Fabulare (2010) and Mosaico (2016), and has collaborated on numerous albums by flamenco jazz artists and other genres including Jorge Pardo's latest album "Djinn" (MIN 2017 award for best flamenco album).

Search | Add | 3 | Al Gilliom | Al Gilliom | Al Gilliom’s music will peel back your defenses and hit your soul. His music melds a multitude of genres, including (but not limited to!): classical (Chopin), rock (Nirvana), and contemporary (The Piano Guys). Throwback to Al’s younger years: beginning life at just 1lb 11oz, the doctors played classical music into his isolette. Born into a world bursting with classical music, the spark never left. He would sit mesmerized, watching his grandmother’s hands dance across the piano keys. The piano awakened something inside of him— this language allowed him to take his life experiences and translate them into a universal medium - sound. In the face of adversity, music brings hope into his life. Through teaching and sharing his compositions, he continually discovers the ability to ignite this feeling in others. Al’s dream is to share his life stories with you through his vulnerable music. 2 years ago, Al released an improvisatory solo piano album, 'A Place Of Peace'. As Al’s grown and changed as a person and a musician, and the stories that have burst forth from his fingers into original compositions that are unlike any he’s recorded before. Al’s excited to offer a deeper glimpse into his world on his upcoming album, ‘The Light In Dark Spaces’. Introverted to the core, Al is the definition of a wallflower. (Well, let’s be honest. You won’t find him at a party. He’d rather be at home practicing the piano, drinking a cup of tea (or homemade hard cider) or reading a book.) In addition to making music, Al enjoys tending to his small homestead farm (with goats and chickens), cooking delicious meals, trying not to kill his houseplants, and reading paperback books. |

Search | Add | 3 | Steve Mutimer | Poppa Steve Mutimer began his musical career at age eight with his first set of drums. He took lessons from Benny Goodman’s noted big band drummer, Ray Mann, until age twelve. Over the next fifty years he has worked in various disciplines of music expanding his creative talents into film and video production plus digital music composition. The Band Years 1958 - 1970 At fifteen he formed his first band, The Rhythm Kings, in hometown, Rockford, IL in 1958. The group was the first rock ‘n roll band in the city and became a huge local success for the next 3 years during high school. Even at that early age, Steve’s band worked with songsters Brenda Lee and Frankie Ford. The Rhythm Kings traveled to Memphis in 1959 and recorded six demo tracks for Sun Records with Sam Phillips and Snuff Garrett engineering. Sun didn’t sign the band, but they went on to cut two records, both regionally successful, with one tune, Maj, reaching the local Top 10 and earning a “bullet” in Billboard Magazine. While serving with the US Navy, Steve formed his second group, The Brother’s Anthony, a folk singing trio in which Steve played standup bass and sang backup at clubs, colleges and theaters all over the Pacific and the US West Coast. The boys sold an original tune, “Bossa Nova Joe” to Tommy LiPuma of A&R Records (which was never published) and eventually broke up when members were discharged. The Daze & Knights was Steve’s third group, a Rock, R&B and Pop group that played clubs, bars and private parties around Rockford. The band was one of the first “mixed” bands at the time with two white and two black members (hence the group’s name). Steve was bandleader, played drums and was the lead singer. The group’s high note was being picked up by the William Morris Agency, Chicago office, working with their hit vocalists and vocal groups of the time such as The Four Tops, Bobby Goldsboro, The Chiffons, Jim Nabors, The Crystals, Jimmy Clanton, The Vogues, Brian Highland, Dee Dee Sharp, Len Barry, Dick & Dee Dee … and they were the touring warm-up band for The McCoys, Johnny & The Hurricanes, The Outsiders and The Reflections. This group lasted from 1965 to 1968. Leaving the road after 3 years and newly married, Steve went to work in local radio in Rockford at WROK and played drums in an immensely popular club band, The Exceptions, in South Beloit, Wisconsin until the mid 70s when he finally hung up his sticks. The AV Production Years 1970 - 1995 For the next 25 years, Steve owned his own advertising agency in Rockford and later San Diego where he wrote and produced hundreds of musical scores, client jingles, AV shows and television programs. During this time, Steve produced and directed such notable celebrities as Eddie Albert, Kevin Costner, Vanna White, Ronnie Schnell (Gomer Pyle), James Avery (Fresh Prince) and sports Hall Of Famers Ernie Banks, Dick Butkus, Dan Fouts, Kellen Winslow and more. This was a very productive time for Steve as he garnered over 100 awards for creative excellence including three TV EMMYs, one for music composition presented by Stephen Bishop. Steve moved from San Diego to Tucson in 1992 and retired from the advertising/promotional business in 2000 to concentrate on his first love … music. The Jazz Recording Years 2004 - Present With the advancement of digital music production and distribution, Steve’s personal “hobby” turned serious and keeps him busier than when he was in the ad game, compiling sixteen CDs over the past few years including fourteen original works plus two compilations titled “The Good Stuff” and “Now Playing”. Steve draws heavily on his early Rock, R&B, Blues and Pop background, which he lovingly wraps together with contemporary, and fusion jazz grooves. As he developed his “sound” over the years, he found it difficult to categorize his work among the many, many recognized genres out there … so he coined his own, calling his work Groove Jazz. Steve’s music is a collective effort involving pre-recorded sound loops from studio musicians, computer generated background fills, percussion that he lays down himself, and live solo tracks from fellow musician friends, some even going back to Steve’s band days when they played together decades ago. Producing an average of two CDs a year, Steve’s work is now heard on over 120 radio stations and is being sold and downloaded worldwide. “This new digital musical direction is incredible for those of us old enough to have experienced recording, distribution and airplay in ‘the good old days’, which is really a misnomer because from my perspective ‘the good old days’ of producing music are here and now. How lucky we are to be able to experience and work in this musical revolution".

Search | Add | 3 | Dee Dee Sea | Travis Sehorn | Dee Dee Sea crept from the bedroom to the underground scene of Montana as a youth quickly gaining a devoted following. Soon Dee Dee was opening gigs for folks like Magnolia Electric Co., Bill Callahan, Califone, C.J. Boyd, LAKE, Karl Blau, Your Heart Breaks, Jason Webley, Typhoon, Thao & The Get Down Stay Down and many others. After many years of touring with the Missoula Oblongata, a punk theater group and years abroad as an artistic international party boy, Dee Dee sunk into the swamp of New Orleans. No one heard anything for awhile... Now Dee Dee Sea has been tracked down in the woods of Maine in a homemade timber framed studio completely off the grid. The new album, I Saw the Awful Light In the Shadows of Joy is the first offering from the outsider multi-instrumentalist. Recorded entirely with sun power, all alone, this album reeks of slowness, of sand in the sheets, of lusty hangovers, of release and of looking back through the bottom of the wine bottle drank on the beaches of the world. The desperate pleasures told within weave in and out of consciousness and somehow drift up river to the mountains peak and sink deep into the earth... |

Search | Add | 3 | Evan Clayburn | Ansel Evan Clayburn | Ansel Evan Clayburn was born in San Francisco on December 29, 1983, and raised in Moraga, California. He was an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Campolindo High School ('04) and Berklee College of Music ('08). He lived in Boston, Los Angeles, New York, and Oakland. A polymath and synesthete who spoke the language of many instruments and accompanied them with his incredible vocals, Evan composed, performed, and produced seven albums: The Space Cadet Shipwreck and Tree Party (under the name Ansel), followed by The Sweeps (an EP under the name Shabby-Genteel) and then The Splits, Wantless, Mope's Catacomb, and Everything Ephemeral (all under the name Evan Clayburn). He completed his final album just two months before he passed. The haunting tracks "Serene" and "Sweep" from that album speak to the isolation of cancer and the loveliness of life. He was a beautiful soul who lived for art. His sister, parents, and the many people who loved him will always remember his harmonies. |
