Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025
Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 3 | Dan Grain | Danny de Graan | Although Danny de Graan (AKA Dan Grain) worked and still works in the contemporary art music scene as a composer, his career started in the early 90's in the dance scene. As one of the producers of the group Cyberlab, he released several EP's and performed in the Netherlands and Germany, sharing the stage with artists like Yves de Ruiter, Sven Vath and Paul van Dyk e.a.. Music studies at the University of Amsterdam and Portsmouth England and later at the Rotterdam Conservatory, kept him from pursuing a career in the dance scene. Yet, he retained a strong feeling of connection to the music, especially to groovy, atmospheric, dark and melodic techno and house. Working as a contemporary art music composer he has written many compositions for all kinds of settings ranging from small and large ensembles, vocalists, (microtonal) organ, harpsichord, pan flute and much more. Recent work consists of a mini opera about Facebook and a composition for feedback only controlled by 4 players and a computer. In 2003, Danny de Graan remixed the classic "O Superman" by Lauri Anderson for the infamous record label Staalplaat. That was the impulse that reignited his interest in dance music. In 2008, he made a demo which received great responses from Dave Clark, among others, and motivated him to start producing again. Danny draws his inspiration from many genres, ranging from Dance, Jazz, Folk, Rock, Pop and Classical music. His solo debut was on Eevonext records with his track The Run. His first EP Happy Accidents will be released beginning 2012. Since 2011 Dan Grain started the producers duo DAN9ER together with Gerard Snippe (AKA 9ER). Their debut is on aDepth Audio with the sampler Emerging Elements (limited edition coloured vinyl) |

Search | Add | 3 | George Kamel | Nashville-based, Boston-bred artist George Kamel is no stranger to the world of songwriting. He released two albums in the past five years, one as part of Boston-based folk outfit “Meadowlarks” and another under the pseudonym, Lapsley. But a three-year stint in the city of Mobile, Alabama would force Kamel to reevaluate his identity as a songwriter. "You grow up real fast when you move 1,500 miles away from home to a place you're not familiar with and people you don't know...you're out of your element and things kinda hit you differently..." said Kamel. After countless open-mics and coffee shop shows, Kamel met an emerging producer named Matt Baker and decided to bring his songs to life in the studio with his latest release, The Great Coward. Kamel believes that The Great Coward represents a significant season of personal growth. "I think the songs come from this place of wanting to escape the cynicism that I've been in for so many years now" he said. "It's not necessarily that I've figured it all out-or that I have all the answers-but I've found the path that I want to go and it's time for me to grow up and pursue that." Drawing influences from Bon Iver, Avett Brothers and David Bazan, Kamel effectively unites the ethereal and earthly using an impressive array of folk instrumentation, while guiding the listener through haunting seasons of beauty and pain.

Search | Add | 3 | Lathouse | The group "Lathouse" debuted on the Latvian music scene in the early 2000s. The debut and only album "Believe in Riga style" was released in February 2002 by the publishing house "Gailītis-G" in collaboration with the company "Sun Records". The album combined both author’s compositions, which at the time of the release of the album were already very active on club dance floors, and remixes of dance hits by the then popular groups A-Europa and Fors. The most famous song was "Riga style", which gave the album its name, "Pump Up Da Base", as well as a remix of the song "Белые небеса" from the repertoire of Arturs Dubok's project "A-Europa". The attention to the work of Duboks and his group from the Lathouse project is not accidental: the founder of the team was the Latvian electronic producer Janis Lamsters, who in 1999 also stood at the origins of the A-Europa group, together with the already mentioned Arturs Duboks, and together with he recorded two albums on behalf of A-Europa, but after leaving the band for his own project. The remaining members of the Lathouse project were hiding behind the pseudonyms DJ Ros, DJ Well and DJ Valer. The single "Riga style", recorded in 2000, managed to light up in Latvian dance charts and subsequently gained many new interpretations performed by a number of Baltic DJs. The album "Believe in Riga style" was nominated for the main national award in the field of sound recording in the category "Best Dance Music Album". Unfortunately, the debut record was the first and only and the project "Lathouse" soon ceased to exist. Search | Add | 3 | Acero Negro | Acero Negro is considered the most iconic hard rock and 80's heavy metal style band from Lleida, settled in the western province of Catalonia, in Spain, since their early origins in 1986 until their last gig in November 2015. They were formed in the middle of 1985 after the guitar player Alberto Monsonís "Berto" left the band Lev3 to found the seminal Tealakian with Tomás Carmona (drums) and Agustín "Angus" Lara (bass). Soon, the singer Juan Yeste joined the band, also playing guitar and later on bass as soon as Lara left the already renamed Acero Negro. They become a quartet with quite a good projection around Catalonia and Aragon throughout their concerts around, until in 1992 they released their first demo "Acero Negro" with Diego Pelegrí (guitar) and Xaba Badía (drums). After some hiatus and lineup changes (Ramón Ramos, Oriol Cornet, Juan León, Carlos Capilla) in 2003 Acero Negro reunited as a quintet (with a new bass player, Josep Mª Lasierra "Lasi") and two years later they released their first studio album "20 Años y Muchas Noches Más", winning first prize in the Pepe Marín Rock contest and taking part in the national festival Senglar Rock 2005 edition. As opening band for other important groups such as Sepultura, Saxon, Gama Ray , Barón Rojo, Los Suaves, Soziedad Alkoholika or Su Ta Gar, Acero Negro have gained respect and consideration from other new and settled bands from Lleida. Their last record "Mi Motor" released in 2014 became also their final farewell when soon after a concert in Sala Oh Yeah they disbanded, with Yeste becoming a professional photographer full time, Lasi involving with the Mister Jones and Pelegrí leaving apart from music. Eventually, Montsonís joined the metal band Blindpoint.

After extensive deliberation this band inherited the name Manîas pronounced Man-I-as. Local live shows and an extensive tour of Mexico drew immediate attention to the band. Main songwriter Drew was greatly inspired by the reaction and support of the fans in Mexico. He felt the need to repay them the only way he knew possible. That was to write lyrics in Spanish, and christen the band with a Spanish name to be used exclusively in Mexico. That name was “Salé Sangre”. Confusion arose about the bands’ name because of this unique concept. Never the less “Manîas-Salé Sangre” (the band with two names), forged ahead and became known as “brutal bilingual” death metal. Prior to recording their first demo in 1995, bassist “Bloody Gary” was asked to depart due to substance abuse. Drew has gone through many line-up changes since. “Manîas” has had many trials and tribulations throughout the years, worst of which happened in early 1999, when Drew “M” Ruiz, was arrested for transporting a quantity of marijuana. Before Drew was sentenced to five years in federal prison in Oct., 1999, “Manîas” recorded its first full length CD on “Entrapment records” (now “Dead World Syndicate” Rec.), entitled “Identity Crisis”. “Identity Crisis” is an anthology of past demos, and the then ‘new’ songs. This CD was released while Drew was serving his sentence, Manîas-Salé Sangre couldn’t tour to support it. After 40 months behind the fence, in March 2003, Drew is released and is back fulfilling his promise to continue on this “brutal bilingual” path. It has been 2 years since Manîas is back in the forum. With the help of talented musicians: Ernest Gurulé on guitar, Mike Orr on drums, all 3 of the Manîas trinity contribute to the latest material. Give a listen and know that this countries penal system breeds anger and hate in its purest form. Search | Add | 3 | Greencross | Daniel Gavilán | “Diversity is taste” Daniel Gavilán is a Venezuelan-born DJ and music producer, also known as 'Greencross'. Co-Founder of Different Is Different Records, and actually based in Barcelona, Spain. His DJ career started in 2002 when settled in Barcelona. A venture that went from organising one of the last series of illegal raves in Catalunya, to hosting nights at the city’s techno temples such as La Cova and Be Cool. As a DJ, Daniel is constantly playing in São Paulo and Brazil‘s main cities. Countries like Holland, Germany and Spain are always within his schedule for european tours, which already have spawned appearances in festivals such as Feier-Rhein in Düsseldorf, São Paulo’s great Virada Cultural, or the Underground Family Festival in Barcelona. “I’m lucky to have the chance to contribute to the scene at this time, when so many sub-styles are being brilliantly produced, letting me create very eclectic DJ sets, still within the boundaries of techno. To me, diversity is taste.” For two years in a row, Greencross has hosted showcases of his label, Different Is Different Records as official parties of Amsterdam Dance Event. Other performances worth mentioning are Florida 135 in Fraga, as well as ROW 14, La Macarena, La Cova, Be Cool, and Sala Apolo in Barcelona. As a producer, Greencross has already remixed techno legends such as Ken Ishii, Tom Hades, Ortin Cam, Stanny Franssen, Angel Alanis, Adam Jay, and Drumcomplex. His original productions has also been remixed by high profile techno producers like Johannes Heil, Angel Alanis, Morgan Tomas, Logotech, Abi Bah, Red Square and Adam Jay. Different Is Different Records is Daniel’s own label, but his productions can also be found at Primate Recordings, Primevil, NB Records, Home Audio Recordings, Slap Jaxx, Parallel 125 and many more. In autumn 2015 look for Greencross’ vinyl releases on Primevil Recordings with two references in collaboration with Miss Electric. |

Search | Add | 3 | Robert Bresson | French film director and screenwriter (25 September 1901, Bromont-Lamothe — 18 December 1999, Droue-sur-Drouette). Robert Bresson is often cited among the most influential and renowned filmmakers ever, preempting the development of "minimalist" cinema and hugely impacting the French New Wave directors. [a=Jean-Luc Godard] once wrote that Bresson "is the French cinema as Dostoevsky is the Russian novel and Mozart is German music." Robert Bresson's highly-influential book, Notes on the Cinematographer (1975), is one of the classics on film theory and critique. Numerous prominent and distinguished filmmakers from all over the world and across several generations have quoted Peter Bresson's work as a significant influence and inspiration, including [a=Ingmar Bergman], [a=Werner Herzog], [a=Alain Resnais], [a=Andrei Tarkovsky], [a=Abel Ferrara], [a=Aki Kaurismäki], [a=Abbas Kiarostami], [a=Atom Egoyan], [a=Jim Jarmusch], [a=Jean Cocteau], [a=Krzysztof Kieślowski], [a=Paul Schrader], [a=Jean-Pierre Melville], [a=Jacques Rivette], [a=Chantal Akerman], [a=Jean Eustache], [a=Philippe Garrel], [a=Hal Hartley], [a=Monte Hellman], [a=Louis Malle], [a=Olivier Assayas] and [a=Michael Haneke]. A decennial list of "250 greatest films" published since 1952 by [l=British Film Institute]'s Sight & Sound magazine, based on votes of the most reputable and distinguished critics, had more aggregated submissions for Bresson than any other film director ever.

My Inspiration to live my dream, came from a guy I met at church in 2019 who had a knowledge of Video Creation. This made me see the Bigger Picture of giving my Music a Visual representation on YouTube. |

Search | Add | 3 | Insane Macbeth | Keith Rodgers | Insane Macbeth started getting into production in 1988, it took a number of years to perfect his craft and in 1991, he produced 'Borderin' Insanity' for Kinetic Effect (whilst Kinetic Effect was still in 2 The Top). 'Borderin' was the last recording at Cold Storage Studio (where MC Mell 'O', and London Posse recorded material). Tim Westwood played 'Borderin' while it was on a tape, when he was at Capital Radio. It was officially released in 1993 on Insane Macbeth's own imprint, Insane Recordings. In 1995 he recorded 'Man Bites Dog'/ 'The Effect Of Fear' with Kinetic Effect. Moving away from the battle mentality, Kinetic Effect & Insane Macbeth wanted to explore more abstract concepts, with beats that were more like soundscapes! These two tracks were released in 1997 (whilst Insane Macbeth was at university, studying a philosophy degree). There are only 500 copies available of this single, these two tracks act as a precurser to the trip-hop & break-beat movement. In 1999, he started recording his album, tentatively called 'The "Retardation" Project'. Wishing to gain a more accessible sound (without moving away from what The Icepick called, "his dungeon sound"!), he completed 14 cuts. The album included Kinetic Effect, The 'Legendary' Icepick, Huntkillbury Finn, Grizzly, Shaka Shazzam, Crazy Noddy, and a protege of Insane Macbeth's called Ripper. There are only 100 white label copies of this album around. He died on May 8th, 2016 from complications due to deteriorating health following a long battle with leukemia. |

Search | Add | 3 | EG Vines | Eric Vines | “Democrat, Republican, it’s written on my face again. This blue and red so black and white, it’s taken over everything!” EG Vines is an artist who leans into the sociopolitical and the release of his latest single, “Them,” is his first chance to release music during a U.S. Presidential election year. The intoxicating division that seems to stay at fever pitch won’t start to tamp down until as a Vines channeling Zack de la Rocha says, we “take the power back!” In a personal sense, Vines took his power back in the fall of 2019 giving his two-week notice to a ten-year career leading energy conservation efforts at a Fortune 500 company in order to tour and focus on songwriting. “Jesus spent 40 days in the desert tempted to give up what he came to earth to do and it took me 10 years in corporate America,” Vines laughs. While the pandemic effectively shut down touring plans for the rest of 2020, Vines used his newly freed time to fine tune and record several singles that point to a full-length record in 2021. A Nashville resident since 2009, Vines says he spent most of the 2010s “drunk, plump and stupid” playing with various rock bands before debuting as a solo artist with 2018 EP Conversation. The full-length follow-up Family Business was released in the fall of 2019 and featured songs in regular rotation on Nashville’s Lightning 100, airplay on XM radio, placements in Billboard, Rolling Stone, Pop Matters and NPR, among others. Drawing comparisons to Neil Young, Jason Isbell and 90s alt-rock acts like Pearl Jam and REM, Vines has developed an eclectic roots rock sound and he aims to approach songwriting from angles less traveled. “Sure, there are plenty of blatant anti-Trump songs – and I might even call him a name in an upcoming song – but I always strive to give people something more than surface level. If I didn’t make you think a bit, I feel like I didn’t do my job.” Look for a steady cadence of singles, videos and potentially cover tunes across the fall before what Vines hopes is plenty of touring in 2021. “The folks that played on this record have been with me for a bit and we’re getting pretty tight. Stay with us and we’ll make sure to give you something special when we’re able to play shows again.” |

Raised by parents who migrated from Tennessee and Alabama, he was immediately exposed to the ways of the south, cornbread and beans, bluegrass and country. At six years old Randy started playing music by strumming along to records by Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and the Beatles. Playing guitar and songwriting quickly became his passion. Randy’s influences are Johnny Cash, Lennon & McCartney, John Mellencamp and Merle Haggard. He credits his mentor, Rick Beresford, for teaching him that songwriting is an art form as well as a craft and must come from the heart. Randy has two CD releases. In 2001 he released “Hard Days in The Heartland” under the DTM label. A powerful recording that takes an intense journey through the heartland of America with songs such as “ The Legacy”, “Blue Collar Redemption”, “Billy Crocker’s House” and the title track, “ Hard Days in The Heartland”. Randy’s latest effort, “Pontiac Trail”, under the Highway 29 Records label, takes a honest look at everyday life and the questions one may have about work, fairness, love and happiness. Skillfully penned songs such as “Got My Feet On The Ground”, “One Of These Days”, Boiling Bones For Stew”, and “ Loretta” will prove that Randy has a clear understanding as to the trials and tribulations of the common man

His works often focus on the interaction between music and nature, archaic forms of sound experience, emptiness and stillness. Rooted in minimalism, he interprets the idiom of contemporary musical forms and the meditative potential of Early Music and Eastern European modality. His compositions and performances are mainly electro-acoustic. He combines traditional instrumentation, prepared guitar, vintage wind organs with electronic sound, field recordings and tapes. He also focuses on instrument preparations to explore unique tuning schemes and harmony based on micro-tonality and organic relationships of intervals. A founder and a leader of the Akpatok Ensemble. SPAIN Tel/Fax: +34 974363838. Internet: www.grupoaltoaragon.es E-mail: jaca@grupoaltoaragon.es The Group "Alto Aragón" of Jaca has been the first group in investigating and broadcasting the best of Aragon's folklore, and particularly the songs and dances of our zone in the Pyrenees. We’re working in order to improve our performances, while keeping the tradition alive since 1975. 1.- WHO ARE WE? 2.-SPECTACLES 3.- DISCOGRAPHY 4.- OTHER ACTIVITIES 5.- REPERTORY 1.- WHO ARE WE? Our history starts in Jaca. In this city, in the center of the Pyrenees, in 1975 a group of people that had spent several years investigating and working with the authentic folklore, met together and formed the Grupo Folklórico "Alto Aragón". Actually, the group has over 64 members, and with our pupils, we are nearly 200 people. In our performances we combine the folklore of the 3 counties of Aragón but we also offer a sample of the dances of the mountains of our zone. These dances are not well known but very typical and different of the rest of Aragón. Each valley has its own characteristics and identity. The variety of the costumes, dances and also the instruments played is evident. Our folklore is extremely variated and interesting. Our repertory includes the popular "jota" that is played with castanets. This dance is very brave and energic. But we dance very different types of jotas. This is essential in our shows and differentiates us respect to other groups that only dance one type of "jota". There are also different types of castanets and costumes depending on each "jota". Other types of dances and songs that we consider are: "palotiaus", "danzas", "boleros", "valses", "albadas", "mazurcas", "sobremesas", etc. The "palotiau" is danced with a pair of sticks made of wood, and is very spectacular and vigorous. Same "palotiaus" are danced with castanets and also with "espedos". The "espedo" is a large iron-made stick, very similar to a sword and it was used in our towns to roast the meat. There are other components in the spectacle: ribbons, shawls, typical jackets, etc. The costumes are different also in each dance. The instruments played are: guitars, accordions, mandolins, lutes, bass, "chiflo" (very similar to a flute with three holes), and "salterio" (a box made of wood with hand-made chords), and percussion: tambourines, bottles, drums, goat-skin bass drum, etc. 2.-SPECTACLES We have made a lot of performances in our region, and so in the rest of Spain. We have also travelled abroad to take away our dances and music: The continents where the group has stayed are Europe, America, Africa and Asia. ARAGON Numerous spectacles in the three counties of Aragon. We consider the most important ones: The Main Theater of Zaragoza. "La Romareda" Stade (Journeys of aragonese folklore). Pilar's Square (several performances in S.Jorge and Pilar's Days). Saint Lorenzo and Saint Jorge Festivities in Huesca. D.G.A's countryside in all Aragón. Many shows organized by the DPH (Central Government of our county), EXPOZARAGOZA 2008. Since our foundation, we have participated in all editions of the Festival International of the Pyrenees (Oloron and Jaca). During each year, we are requested by the authorities of our towns to participate in many festivities and diverse activities often. JAPAN C.I.O.F.F. 2nd World Folkloriada (2000). 3.- DISCOGRAPHY We have recorded four CD, that contain an overview of nearly all of our folklore. They are named: "En recuerdo a unos valles" , "Pueblos y gentes", “Calandrias” y “Nueces y turrones, manzanas y peras”. Click here to listen some of our songs >> 4.- OTHER ACTIVITIES INVESTIGATION During all of these years, our "investigation group" have made possible for us to recover songs, dances, paloteaos, jotas, romances, etc. The most important ones are The Dance de Sta Orosia de Jaca, (more than 60 years forgotten and recovered in 1979 by us) and The Paloteao de Sinués (more than 50 years off). We have a group of "danzantes" that depend on us, and dance this religious pieces each year in the processions of the Jaca's Festivities. FOLKLORE'S STUDIES AND COURSES We have participated in the famous Popular Music Latin-American Conference, celebrated in Madrid. We also have took part in the IV Popular Arts and Customs National Congress celebrated in Zaragoza. So, we have participated in several Folklore and Ethnology Activities, organized by the University of Zaragoza , in the Journeys about Folklore (V) that where included in the "Conoce Aragón" Cycle of Conferences, and in the XV Folklore Gallego Congress. Anyway, There are many activities that we have made not so important and not included here. RECORDINGS We have also made recordings for the Festivals of Zaragoza, Olorón, Confolens and Jaca. Many Radio Channels have asked us for some recordings. The most famous are: RNE, Radio Zaragoza, Radio Zamora, Radio Huesca, Radio Jaca. Out of Spain, we have recorded songs for different channels in France and UK. In November of 1983, Radio Popular de Zaragoza (COPE) emitted a special program dedicated to our VIII anniversary. It took more than 1 hour. Speaking about the TV, different TV channels in France, UK, Porto Rico, USA, Canada, Taiwan R.O.C., Japan, México, Portugal and Maroc, and so TVE and Aragón Televisión, have emitted our dances. FOLKLORE SCHOOL In our school, we work with the youths and adults of our city and zone. These boys will be the new components of the group, selecting the best ones. At this moment, we have more than 100 pupils. OTHERS Aragonese Folklore Festival "Virgen de la Cueva": We organize, each year since 1979, a Folklore Festival with our pupils. Traditional Aragonese Games: In the Resurrection Sunday, there was a tradition: The Billas Game, and it was played in many streets of Jaca. Each year, we organize a competition, in order to show this forgotten game. Divulgation Activities: Speeches, Slides, Media articles, etc... For any doubt or question, just contact us by Fax or E-Mail. 5.- REPERTORY DANCES We have a diversity of dances that allow us to offer an unique spectacle. In Aragon, there are many types of jotas depending on the zone or area. We dance "fast jotas", very spectacular and characteristic of the South of Aragon, and "slower jotas", very typical in our mountains where the costumes are heavier and more difficult to wear. The choreography is very different in each dance. Another type of dances are the paloteaos, played with castanets, sticks, and espedos. Each paloteao involves different costumes and also different accessories, (roses in the player's hands, ribbons, etc.) But that's not enough, because we have in our spectacle, another type of dances, called "danzas" and played only with accordion and percussion. The typical hats are different from the dances explained above, and also the clothes and the way of wearing them, the "shoes" that are made from animal skin, etc. Finally, we have mainly another kind of dance that is called the "Bolero". There are many boleros with their proper characteristics and costumes depending on the area of Aragon. There are also, "Stile Jotas", that are not danced and only singed by our singers. This is very typical in Aragon, and there are a lot of competitions of singers. There are a lot of ways of singing: only one man, a woman, a couple, a group, religious songs, party songs, etc. COSTUMES We don't make copies, because we try to get the same textures used by our ancestors. Our elders have showed us everything about the design, the making and the maintenance of their dresses. Another important thing is the hairstyle of the girls and the way of wearing our typical hats and hairshawls in certain dances. We keep a great variety of costumes. The people of the Pyrenees lived isolated in winter and each valley kept their proper costumes. These costumes are very heavy but majestic and are composed of multiple clothes, worn superposed. The costumes are different depending on the day's moment and the purpose (party, religious, work, etc.). There are a lot of variety of colors. This, makes a better spectacle for the people. Each costume is more than 1000 $ worth, and our full collection is valued in more than 70.000 $US. |
