Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 7 | Big Bad Baz | Barry Christie | BigBadBaz (born Barry Christie on 3rd September 1983) is an English born dance music producer. Barry was born in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear but spent most of his life living in Northamptonshire. Inspired by the work of sampling artists such as Fatboy Slim and The Prodigy, Barry started to make sample based dance music in the late 90s. Continuing to produce music under the pseudonym BigBadBaz (a name suggested by friends as a moniker) he released his first productions on vinyl in September 2002. Barry's continued use of samples became less derivative in 2002 and 2003 with more and more internet only releases using larger samples from tracks akin with the Mash up scene that was growing at the time. This similarity brought Barry's music some publicity and found his music being championed by Radio stations across the world, cashing in the fad of mixing one or more popular songs together. Continuing on with the same style of music that brought about Call On Me, BigBadBaz released a white label album Generic Prydz. The name was a light-hearted poke at the amount of copycat songs that were filling the dance floor in 2005. Calling America and So Many Nights on that album began getting some radio play so in 2006 these were picked up by Prank Monkey Records and given a vinyl only release. "So Many Nights" (even though technically a B-Side) began getting some airplay and was picked up by Radio 1 DJ's . |

Search | Add | 7 | Rudy Rivers | Rudy LaRiviere | Rudy Rivers (his real name was Rudy LaRiviere) was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He spent his early years in an orphanage. He started entertaining folks at the age of 15. Around that time also, he wrote his first song called “The Yodeling Symphony”. By 19, in the late 1930s, Rudy and his wife to be who also grew up in an orphanage hitchhiked to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, where he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force until the end of World War II. Being an excellent artist he opened and ran a sign shop for 47 year. He continued to write songs and entertain. In those days he was know as “Rudy the Yodeling Kid”. I was born in 1944 and was there only child Rudy Jr. Rudy provided Acoff & Rose 12 songs to publish. Some of those compositions were recorded by Wilf Carter and Ernest Ashworth. The song "Pushed in A Corner" was recorded by Ernie Ashworth and reached #11 on the Billboard charts in 1964. Rudy himself recorded for Rodeo Records. But Rudy was not impressed with leaving my home and his wife, Monica, to go on the road to promote his records and career, it was just not his style. He probably passed up a great opportunity. A 1965 article indicates he recorded at least two sides for Rodeo Records and one for Sparton Records in 1964. His notes he had written more than 490 songs over a span of 69 years; most are all love songs. |

Comprised of Evan Roberts, Myke Young, and frontman Arthur Tauhore, the trio released two albums before the death of Tauhore in November 1994 brought the group to an end. Search | Add | 7 | Schlangengeist | Matt Bonk | One-man experimental industrial black metal / symphonic project created by Noise Nazi originally in 2017. Originally the demo "Nocturnal Feast" was recorded in summer of 2017. It featured nothing but electronic noise & dark ambiance with an emphasis on distorted & tortured vocal FX. "Immortal Beast" was recorded in 2018 & went toward a more conventional black metal style. Both demos were shelved & unknown to the public until a re-release of "Nocturnal Feast" was featured on Narkotik Analog Recordings in 2021. Since then, Schlangengeist has made a total of 3 demos, 1 rehearsal, a compilation tape & 1 split. The project went on to mix industrial, noise & power electronics with simplistic bass, guitar riffs & synth melodies. Forming "black metal" in a much more unconventional sense, with elements of grindcore, death metal, war metal & more. This project does not care about 'talent'. |

Search | Add | 7 | The Infamous Arab | Chicago born Kid Heartbreak began his professional mixing career back in 1996 while still a teenager with his first mix tape titled "Chapter One". This was a freestyle medley as Kid had become very interested in freestyle music during his high school years, even though rap music was his first love. The success of his first couple mix tapes on the streets of Chicago inspired a situation where Kid was coming out with a new mix tape every month (freestyle or rap). By 1998, Kid Heartbreak had established himself as one of Chicago's most elite mix tape djs. After several years of networking and establishing connects with other artists, producers, and underground record labels, Kid was able to release a fully licensed album in 2003 featuring many tracks exclusive to that CD. There was also a 12" release from the CD, featuring full dj versions along with acapellas of 3 of the hottest tracks on the album. Kid is also the executive producer behind the Ill Clicks Militia, a rap group that he discovered during the mix tape years. Between the years of 1997 to 2004, Kid released over 30 different mix tape titles combining to sell over 70,000 units. The Chicago mix tape scene is now far subdued compared to what it once was, but Kid Heartbreak continues to do his thing. Kid has a master's degree in accounting as well as a CPA. Music and accounting together make up Kid Heartbreak's life. Kid Heartbreak had always wanted to spit his own freestyle song and earlier this year, completed this track "Thoughts of Her". This song is written and produced by Kid Heartbreak himself. He Passed Away In 2017 R.I.P. A Chicago Legend Forever

Search | Add | 7 | The Silent Senders | Maurizio Duka Moroni (music and electronics) and Paolo “Dr. Phibes” Caucci (guitars) are The Silent Senders. This is an original musical project (produced by Audiosfera for exMachina Records), proposing a powerful mix of electronic and alternative rock music, that becomes almost a commentary to short, imaginary movies: TSS’ music is charming, sincere, an utter soundtrack, creating the right atmosphere for a surreal story with few introductive notes. On the ground oh TSS’ music is a choice of non-conformity with any trendy music genre or commercial law; in this way avoiding to wink at the mass market, the two musicians obtain to express themselves exclusively accordingly to their musical preferences. Synths, samplers, beat machines and guitars merge harmoniously in complex, multilayer sonorities, with raids in structured electronics or in acoustic manipulation. The audience is carried away to new musical scenes and surrounded by rich sound environments creatd by imaginary dialogues, micro-sonorities and irregular, pressing rhytmics. The tracks included in TSS’ albums are, consciously, very different from one another: electro-acoustic, industrial, progressive rock or musique concrete, with pop, folk, jazz, even metal contaminations. TSS build a clever music using every one of these musical kind as bricks: it’s not an easy listening, but the audience is thus stimulated by ever new feelings.

Search | Add | 7 | Humphrey Astley | Humphrey 'Huck' Astley is a writer and musician based in Oxford, England. In the '00s, Astley founded Rain over Bouville, a poetry press, and was a member of the much-loved noise-rock group Sextodecimo (Oxford's greatest ever metal band, according to the local press). He has since graduated with Distinction from degrees at Ruskin College and the University of Oxford, and his poetry has appeared in a range of British and North American publications. His 2014 pamphlet 'Stones through the Windows to the Soul' is downloadable from this site. In 2010, Astley's short-lived gothic americana quartet Huck & The Handsome Fee embarked on a US tour that would inspire his three-part narrative album 'Alexander the Great: a Folk Operetta', which he describes as "A queer runaway myth of two young friends and their fall from grace in Dixie." Then, in 2013, Huck & The Xander Band partnered with PinDrop Music and adapted 'Alexander the Great' into a stage-show, which was hand-picked by The PRS Foundation for their New Music Plus development scheme. The show debuted at The Cambridge Junction in 2014 and has since been described as "Raw and powerful... an impressive display of visual flair and mesmerising songwriting." (The York Press) Astley is also a member of alt-pop group Crandle and indie-folk band The Epstein, who have just released their third album, 'Burn the Branches'. In the meantime he is writing for Sabotage Reviews and The Oxford Times and is a member of the Oxford Writers' House.

Search | Add | 7 | A Tree On A Hill | A tree standing lonely on a hill has been watching the passage of time for centuries A feeling of majesty and confidence, the connection with the sur-roundings and the tranquillity of nature. All these are the sources of inspiration for the tracks of A Tree On A Hill. A tree on a hill exudes a sense of majesty and confidence, a connection with the surroundings and the silence of nature. All of these are the sources of inspiration for the songs of "A Tree On A Hill". The composer consciously takes a step back and let the sounds work for him. Born in the early seventies, the sound artist was mainly influenced by New Wave, Synth Pop and New Romantic. The piano and the classical guitar were replaced by keyboard and sequencer at the end of the eighties. Around the turn of the millennium, he produced several pop songs with various artists. Since 2020, he has been producing, among other things, new age songs in his studio, which are released under the artist name "A Tree On A Hill" and have a strong connection to nature. The first EP released, "Lying Under Trees", conveys the feeling of sitting under trees and feeling the wind blowing through the branches and making the leaves whisper. Each of the four tracks is dedicated to a special group of trees. The EP "Mellow Waves", which was released in the same year, takes the element of water in its various forms as its theme. The basis is the water cycle, which is the origin of all life on earth. From the first drops from the cloudy sky, over streams and rivers to the wide open sea. With the first single "Red Flavia", and the second single "Purple Hydrangea", the beauty of the blossoms follows this year. The blaze of colour awakens when the sun hits the delicate petals after a spring thunderstorm. Each individual blossom is delicate, unique and beautiful.

Search | Add | 7 | Upsetting Keys | Reade Truth & Jake Reif | Emerging from deep within the depths of the Brooklyn underground, Upsetting Keys seeks to inform, to educate and inundate. This time they are armed with emotional, unknown electronic structures that originated back in the late 90s. The audio sculptures presented on this release specifically pass somewhere in a shape between total art form and other, much more subliminal and subdued opaque constructs. Upsetting Keys, a name whispered privately by elite DJ's around the world, is a timeless example of the electronic underground. The project, initially trapped in an era where dull throw-away concepts dominated techno culture, can now freely present their unusual techniques; which involved impossible sampling, maniacal rhythms and infectious melodic content, all of which lay waste to those past aesthetics. |

She had a prolific career, renowned as one of the leading performers of Russian folk repertoire in Europe and the USA and producing many gramophone records for [l=Zonophone Record], Victor, Columbia Phonograph Co., and [l=Kismet Record Company]. Tarasova retired from the stage in the early 1950s and grew interested in fine arts restoration in later years, operating a private workshop in New York. She died at 72 while visiting her sister in France. Nina Tarasova was married to Stuart Fitzhugh Voss (1885—1971), adopting the double name "Tarasova-Voss" at some point. Other name variations: Nina G. Tarasova Voss, Tarasoff, Нина Георгиевна Тарасова, Nina Georgievna Tarasova. Born in the Russian Empire, Nina received her music education in Munich, Germany, and immigrated to the United States in the early 1920s. Tarasova soon gained public and critical acclaim with her traditional Slavic song repertoire, touring Europe extensively with solo recitals. Between 1925 and 1928, she worked with [a=Nikita Balieff]'s La Chauve-Souris ("The Bat") revue, starring in one of his first sound short films, The Hut (1929). She performed and recorded with pianist [a=Lazar Weiner] and Russian-born composer and band leader [a=Theodore Zarkevich] (1893—1977). |

There is no doubt, that composer, orchestra leader and producer [a1030696] had the main responsibility for these recordings, as he was involved in a significant number of titles as producer and composer, also under various pseudonyms. Other musicians and composers involved were, for example, [a823891], [a443327], [a2057027], [a320184], [a1016199] and [a382410].

Search | Add | 7 | Birgitta Bäck | The Borås girl Birgitta Bäck (b. 1936 at Landala in Borås) lined up in the then local talent hunt "Place for us" in 1950 and even then had to perform in front of a large audience. She went to Stockholm the following year to try her luck; worked as a housekeeper with Karl Gerhard, took singing lessons and participated in Stockholm's Lucia train in 1953. Sang with Karl-Olof Finnberg's and Thore Svanerud's orchestras, but returned to Borås in 1955. Birgitta then sang first a season with Leif Holmbergs and then one with Bosse Lidén's orchestras in Borås - her husband Torgny Nilsson also played for a short time with Bosse Lidén, then with Kettil Ohlson's and Leif Kronlund's orchestras in the capital . Trumpeter King Arne Lamberth heard Birgitta during a rehearsal and the result was a contract with the record company Joker and an extensive folk park tour in the summer of 1960. She was a military field artist in 1962 and then sang for Hans Wahlgren's orchestra. Lived in Sandared for many years, married Bengt Nyman.

Haldankar later took training under the Agra Gharana master, Jagannathbuwa Purohit (“Gunidas”), and still later, from Ganpatrao Dewaskar and Agrawale Anwar Hussain Khan. Search | Add | 7 | Olivier Schreuder | Olivier Schreuder | Composer, performer, DJ, label CEO Olivier Schreuder composes & produces electronic and acoustic music. His work ranges from experimental electroacoustic compositions and improvisations, orchestral works, and generative modular synthesizer ecosystems to turntablism and dub-infused electronic music. As a performer he often uses a mix of turntables, digital and analog (modular) synthesis techniques and signal processing. Furthermore he performs with custom made electroacoustic instruments, to explore new textures and expressive possibilities. He is especially interested in how traditional cultures and new technologies meet, and often works together with musicians from these cultures to make new music together. Under his alias Lucid Voyages he composes electroacoustic ecosystems with his modular synthesizer, field recordings and DSP. In these ecosystems he explores the fluidity of sound: the extent to which a sound can morph between different physical characteristics. In his organized chaotic systems he improvises with generative elements, feedback and interaction between acoustic and electronic sounds. Travelling in Southeast Asia and studying the musics, cultures and languages of Vietnam, Thailand, Laos & Cambodia has a strong influence on his work. Olivier Schreuder studied Music technology at the HKU (University of the Arts Utrecht) in the Netherlands where he graduated with a MA with honors in 2013. His graduation project was nominated for the HKU Award 2013 as most innovative and enterprising sound design project, and got selected for the Hot 100 as one of the most talented graduates of 2013 in e-culture. During his time at the HKU he studied composition with Rob Zuidam, Jorrit Tamminga, Marcel Wierckx, David Dramm, Ned McGowan and Katerina Pejoska. He studied traditional Vietnamese music & Đàn Bầu with Lê Uyển in Saigon, folkmusic from Northeast Thailand & the kaen with Pongsapon Upani in Khon Kaen, and the traditional music of the animistic Tampuen tribe with Ven Cherk of the Yeak Lom Arts Group in Ratanakiri, Cambodia. In the Netherlands he is a regular guest-player in the gamelan ensembles Wiludyeng & Manyar Sewu. As a lecturer he has been teaching composition at the HKU, and Southeast Asian music at Codarts (Rotterdam University of the Arts) & the Erasmus University of Rotterdam. His compositions have been performed on the Gaudeamus Muziekweek (Utrecht, NL), ICMC, TodaysArt Festival (The Hague, NL), the Đương Đại Contemporary Music Festival (Saigon, Vietnam), Lasalle University of the Arts & School of the Arts in Singapore, the Isan Creative Festival in Khon Kaen and the Jai Thep Festival in Chiang Mai (Thailand) amongst others. Together with Yme de Jong he started the game audio company SoundBoySound in 2016, specializing in music & sound design for games and interactive art. As DJ Phaze he has played in many clubs and festivals in and around the Netherlands. His mixtape-series Present Revival of Futuristic Classics featured local rap heroes like Def P & Oscar X. With MC Oscar X and producer Werner Urban he made an EP called Hollands Licht and performed live around the Netherlands with a classic DJ-MC live show. Starting out as a turntablist and organizer with firm roots in hip hop culture, he also organized many events in and around the Netherlands like the legendary Hiphopcafe 4 Elementz in Amsterdam, and a tribute to John Coltrane for the Kindred Spirits record label. As a composer, sound designer and performer he is part of several (live) music projects. Currently these include The Magic Number, a live film soundtrack project with composer Robin Koek & DJ Jeroen van Aalst, Kow Mai with Thai classical musician Angkanang Pimwankum, and a gamelan and electronics project with Dutch musician Michiel Niemantsverdriet. In 2015 his studies in Thailand lead to the recording of new compositions for highly talented molam local traditional folk musicians. Under the name of Apichat Pakwan they start a live act in which they blend Lao folk music, dub, electronics & hiphop, and tour in Southeast Asia & Europe, with highlights playing shows at the Amsterdam Roots Festival, Fusion Festival (Germany), World Experience Festival (Romania), Na Fir Bolg Festival (Belgium), Thailand Grand Festival in The Hague (NL), Isan Creative Festival in Khon Kaen, the Jim Thompson's Molam Bus Stage at the Jai Thep Festival in Chiang Mai (Thailand). Love for vinyl, infectious grooves from around the world and turntablism-culture lay the foundation for his own record label Animist Records he started in 2016. The first release is a 10" vinyl record of Apichat Pakwan called Angkanang. In 2017 and 2018 three more records of Apichat Pakwan are released, and a breakthrough in Thailand comes with more successful shows and a much viewed feature on Thai national television. Apichat Pakwan's debut album Esantronics is released in October 2019 to critical international acclaim. |

Search | Add | 7 | Dislocations | Dislocations is a Finnish/Swedish experimental ambient improvisation project that draws it’s inspiration from mathematical ideas on the edge of traditional musicality. Unsynchronized sequencing, quasipulsatility and random chance operations are some of the repeating central themes. A combination of grainy sci-fi soundscapes of past decades and modern hyperrealistic sound illusions, Dislocations is a collision of contrasting methodologies and ideals. Started back in 2014 in London by sound artists Anssi Alhopuro and Pär Carlsson. Brought together by shared interests in experimental electronic music, programming and improvisation.

Search | Add | 7 | Cre•scen•do | From Los Angeles, California Cre·scen·do is the combination of passion, late dreamy-filled nights, and utter love for music. The band has been slowly coming together to it’s completed state since Gregory Cole [Guitarist and Singer] had other projects in the works and decided to take steps forward to revolutionize a new style and sound. It was with this realization that their path toward making their debut album began to unfold. Cre·scen·do formed through the help of John Glenn Kunkel of The New Division under the backdrop of Los Angeles, California. With this combination of talent, determination, and the occasional late-night out to talk about their lives, music, and desires, the band coined their style under the genre “DreamGaze”: a combination of Shoegaze and Dream-pop elements that encapsulate the entirety of the band – a group of individuals with a love for music, and a dream to further their lives with it. Cre•scen•do currently consists of Gregory Cole, Olive Kimoto, and Jess Krichelle.

Inspired by the English and German techno scene, Magnus started together with his friend Mikael Persson the techno label G-Force records in 1995. At the same time Magnus bought his first music equipment and started to produce music. In the year 2000, Magnus Hjelte got his first dj-equipment, and began to play as a dj. This would be something that would take him deeper into the world of electronic music. The same year G-Force was transformed into the Backbone rhythm collective. A collective with a broader view on music, stretching from the house label Eloge, to the deep techno label Facets and the hard rhythm label GFR. During the summer 2001 Magnus will start a new techno label called 8th Army, a label that will release the darker and harder music from the late G-Force records. A number of new releases on different labels world wide, and cooperation with both Swedish and foreign artists will take both the 8th Army and Magnus as a dj, through the beginning of the new millennium. This won’t be the last words…

Search | Add | 7 | Rudolph Cernkovich | Rudolph Cernkovich was born November 8, 1889, in Gorski Kotar, Croatia. He was the oldest son of eleven children. After he finished his elementary education, his parents planned to send him to school to become a priest or photographer. When he was 15, he met an uncle who was a tambura player and maker along with having his own family orchestra. This uncle gave Rudolph a tambura for a gift and he immediately learned to play it. He came to America at 16 and settled in Pittsburgh. He planned in the old country to stay here only about three years, earn plenty of money, and return home. He joined several bands and played for dances, weddings, picnics, and home parties. Then he began to teach other orchestras and to arrange simple pieces. When the teacher of his singing society quit, the members prevailed upon him to undertake teaching the choir. From then on, he was teaching the tamburitza, orchestras and other singing societies and was arranging music for both. After playing with the famous concert touring tamburitza orchestra "Zvonimir" for five years, he married Anna Ivanusich and they settled in Chicago. Here he rented a place for tambura manufacturing, and besides arranging music, began making tamburas. His work received overwhelming approval. All the work of manufacturing instruments and issuing music dangerously affected his heart. Doctors warned him to slow down so he sold his shop to his cousin, and dedicated himself entirely to arranging and printing music. The demand for this was growing. After 23 years of yearning to return to his homeland, he and his wife spent five months in Yugoslavia. After returning home, the days of dark depression were everywhere. He went to Michigan and bought a house where he could continue to work by mail with his music customers throughout the country. The town was Bradley. Then the second World War came and orchestras disbanded. To arrange and print this music for a smaller and smaller number with growing costs in everything due to the war, the outputs were a constant loss. Realizing the futility in this line of work, Cernkovich decided to sell his home and find another line of business. After rigid examination by the Civil Service Commission, he was appointed Postmaster of Bradley, Michigan. During his free time he still kept up his work on issuing music. He has arranged more than 1000 songs, including his own melodies, work of other composers, and public domain folk tunes he knew as a child. His right hand in this endeavor was his wife, who was carrying one load while he carried another and inspiring him when he was down and low. His lyrics are sentimental and romantic in nature, which is perhaps because of the breaking away from his family in early life. He said that if he had chosen some other career it would probably have been more gainful, but this way he has friends in every native community of many lands through his music -- and this has more value.
