Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 16/12/2025

Found 617983 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Edwards Biography (from his website, 2019) Mark “M.E.” Edwards, the lead guitarist/founding member of OVERLORDE and a solo instrumental guitarist, is a native of Scotch Plains, New Jersey. After a 6 year period living in New York City ending in 2012, Mark returned to central New Jersey. He is a member of ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers). Mark is not the first musician in his family. His father’s uncle, Jerry Serly, was an accomplished musician and member of NY Local 802. Jerry held various positions within the union during his lengthy tenure after joining in 1927. Jerry’s wife, Elaine, was also a musician. Jerry's father, Lajos Serly, was a highly esteemed Hungarian composer and conductor. Jerry's brother, Tibor Serly, was an accomplished violinist-violist and music theorist who composed major theatrical pieces. Tibor completed Béla Bartók’s two unfinished works after Bartók’s death. Mark took his first guitar lesson in 1971 when he was ten years old. His teacher was Tom Ragusa at the Scotch Plains Music Center in NJ. Lessons went on until he graduated High School in 1979. During that time he was a member of two rock bands as well as a member of the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School jazz band “Moonglowers”, the oldest High School jazz band in the state of New Jersey. While attending Old Dominion University, Mark played in that school’s jazz ensemble. Afterwards, around 1982, Mark was involved in his first metal band. Named PARTHENON, this band did covers by Def Leppard, Judas Priest, AC/DC, Rush, Zeppelin, and even Cheech and Chong. This band was the first to perform Mark’s metal originals, three songs that Mark had written and the band learned. Also, it was about this time when Mark's friends began referring to him by his initials, "M.E.". 1984 saw Mark purchase his trademark white Flying V, and meet John Bunucci. John would not only go on to form OVERLORDE with Mark, but also become a lifelong friend. And in Mark’s opinion, the world’s best power/true/classic metal bassist. Overlorde performed its first show in November 1985 after drummer David L. Wrenn joined the band. The group added vocalist Pat O’Donnell in 1986 and played numerous NJ/NY area shows. The band then recorded and self released a 5-song EP on its own Strike Zone Records label. What was supposed to be a stepping stone to a bigger label deal instead led to the band's eventual demise in late 1988. Or did it? More on that later. M.E. started his first solo project shortly thereafter. Titled BREAKER M.E. (a nickname variation inspired by his affinity for Australian bush hats of the type worn in the movie Breaker Morant), it went from being a solo project to a band and released a self-titled 4-song cassette demo before disbanding in 1992. After this, M.E. became disillusioned with participating in bands and went truly solo. Thus began a period of recording and performing instrumentals in the style of Joe Satriani. Bass and drum parts were provided by a Roland R-70 which he had learned to program to great effect. His Fostex 250 4-track cassette deck saw a great deal of use as he recorded numerous songs beginning in 1992. The first official demo coming from these sessions being a 30-minute cassette titled G.W.A. (GUITAR WITH ATTITUDE). This was followed by a live-to-DAT, in-studio session in 1995 that was released as a 30 minute demo titled WHAT YOU HEAR IS WHAT YOU GET. By this time, Mark was mainly utilizing a Fender Stratocaster in place of his Flying V. The late 90's saw M.E. launch a basic website, and begin utilizing his voice on various recordings including an eclectic 3-song demo titled Demo 1999. He had also moved up from his 4-track multi-track cassette recorder to a digital 16-track Roland VS-1680. But it was December 1999 when everything old became new again, and the call of the Flying V began to harken once more. This is when Overlorde drummer Dave Wrenn contacted M.E. about some interest in Overlorde, mainly from fans in Europe. This news came as quite a surprise, since the 1987 EP had basically only been sold in NJ/NY area shops. It had been assumed that Overlorde was a NJ area metal footnote and nothing more. Upon additional investigating, it became apparent that the 1987 EP had garnered the band a cult following in both the USA and Europe. John, Dave and Mark decided to look into the possibility of a reunion in early 2000. The official website, www.overlorde.com, was launched in February 2000 and the reunion became a reality in July 2000. In the fall of 2000, the band announced that vocalist Bobby "Leather Lungs" Lucas (ex- SEVEN WITCHES/Massacre Records and EXHIBITION/LMP Records) had joined the band to round out the reunion lineup. A 4-song demo, OVERLORDE 2000, was recorded and released in December 2000. The demo received tremendous response from fans and critics alike. This included a “perfect 12” rating from Germany's HEAVY, ODER WAS?! magazine. A few shows were played, including some U.S. metal festivals, where the band shared the stage with acts such as ANVIL, SEVEN WITCHES, and MANILLA ROAD, receiving great audience response. The band seemed sure to obtain a record deal and release its long delayed full length CD. And so it was that in April 2004, the band announced it had signed with Greece’s premier Heavy Metal Label, CULT METAL CLASSICS (now SONIC AGE RECORDS). Recording began in summer 2004 and their 13-song CD titled RETURN OF THE SNOW GIANT was released to excellent reviews worldwide on December 17, 2004. Once again their CD received a “perfect 12” rating from Germany's HEAVY, ODER WAS?! magazine. M.E. wrote full music and lyrics for four of the songs on the release and co-wrote the music for all the remaining songs with the exception of the short bass/drum intro AND THE BATTLE BEGINS… M.E. performed his debut European show when Overlorde played at Keep It True IV Metalfest in April 2005 and his performance is documented on the official KIT IV DVD. Overlorde also celebrated its 20th Anniversary year in 2005 with an interview on WDHA’s Metal Mania radio show. In the summer of 2015, Germany's DEAF FOREVER magazine named RETURN OF THE SNOW GIANT one of its "Top 100 U.S. Metal Albums of all Time". The band is preparing a followup CD. Having devoted 100% of his music-related efforts to Overlorde from 2000 to 2003, M.E. decided to take some time and make his 1994 demo G.W.A. (GUITAR WITH ATTITUDE) available on CD-R. This demo re-release, with an additional 5 songs, occurred in the fall of 2003 along with the launching of his own www.meflyingv.com website to replace his 90’s designed site. 2003 also saw M.E. start his own ASCAP affiliated music publishing company, ARMORED FORCE PUBLISHING. Besides continuing with Overlorde, Mark also plans to promote his instrumental material for use in movies, TV shows, etc. Some of his works have already appeared in independent releases. He is currently preparing to shop a 9-song instrumental re-release of WHAT YOU HEAR IS WHAT YOU GET that also includes videos from his performances on a local cable show called T-TIME. He is also preparing to make his G.W.A. (GUITAR WITH ATTITUDE) available on i-tunes . And having written or co-written approximately 100 songs over a range of hard & heavy music styles (and even some in a modern country vein), Mark hopes to eventually record and release other material utilizing his home studio, and/or license songs to other recording artists. M.E. performs his instrumental set as a unique “one man show”. Himself on electric guitar accompanied by programmed drums and bass. This allows him to perform in situations where a full band might not fit. M.E. has accumulated a number of endorsement deals and also released presets for Steinberg's Cubase DAW. The presets are for Steinberg's VST AMPRACK plugin.

Back in the summer of 1955 British advertising agencies were just coming to terms with the concept. The first agency to specially record a piece of music for an ad was J. Walter Thompson on Monday August 1 1955 when George Browne and his Calypso-Mambo Band recorded a one-minute song for use on a pilot commercial. Besides George, who played the guitar and sang, there was Curly Clayton who also played guitar and Pat Ryan on bongos. Seven years later, on October 27, two weeks after the Beatles Love Me Do entered the charts; the fledgling Rolling Stones recorded three songs at Curly Clayton's studio near Arsenal's football ground. The songs were made into a demo disc that was sent to EMI and Decca who, along with everyone else, rejected the band for a recording contract. Curly, was paid £3 for that first session.

Search Add 6 Knout Swedish Nu Metal band from Borlänge and Avesta, Sweden. Formed in 2000. In January 2000 four guys from the small town Borlänge/Sweden formed a band called KNOUT, and about four months later they found a singer in Niklas Franzen from Avesta, and the setting was complete. Their first demo "69 Stitches" was released in june 2000. It includes three songs. The first demo was recorded only a few days after Niklas had joined, so all vocals was made in a real Hurry. After 69 stitches the guys made a few gigs but held a low profile (laziness!). But in January 2001 they entered the studio to record demo number two "Cuckoo Phobia". Eight songs was made on that one, and the guys had some time on this demo. After some local touring they joined a music contest called "garagerocken". The band won easy and the price was ten hours in a studio and 300 pressed cd. Before the recording of "Manwhore" the band decided they needed a new drummer ,so Micke was replaced by Daniel Liljeqvist from Ludvika and in early November 2001 they went to the studio to record "Manwhore". In January the band had there releaseparty for "Manwhore" on the local club Bolanche. The gig was not one of the best performances they had done, singer Niklas was way to drunk and the whole gig sounded bad. After the performance at Bolanche the band decided they needed a new singer. So tired of Niklas they replaced him with Hans from Gävle. They wrote some new songs with their new singer and went out doing some local gigs again. Spring 2002 they once again entered the studio this time for the making of the self titled demo "Knout" now the band had some new self-confidence. Later that year they decided to make a test. The singer Sonny from Falun was added to the group and the song "Airtime" was recorded with two singers. and the band rehearsed and performed for a while with two singers. After a period if time the band decided it was best with only one singer so Sonny left the band. February 2003 Knout´s new demo is recorded and it sounds great. However in late 2006, the band ultimately broke up due to their unpopularity.

The trio’s lyrical style originates in the author’s long experience in classical music and her affinity with jazz, thus finding an original path that paints subtle moods and emotions. Inspired by the beauty of her hometown Alvanović’s impressionistic compositions are spiced by hints of a Balkan musical heritage.

Search Add 6 Sebastian Essene Sebastian Essene, a Nottingham-based music producer and experimental DJ, creates spiritually oriented electronic music deeply rooted in esoteric, mystical, and occult traditions. His work draws inspiration from the worlds of surrealism, transcendental philosophy, and metaphysical exploration, resulting in a unique blend of sound and spirit. His compositions, often ambient and experimental, reflect an eclectic approach to sound, weaving together spiritual exploration with avant-garde musical structures. Sebastian’s DJing focuses on creating the atmosphere of a sacred, ethereal space—evoking the void, a sense of depth, longing, and nostalgia for the ineffable. His music conjures immersive soundscapes that blend the mystical with the modern, guiding his audience through a ritualistic experience of sound and spirit.

When Vince came to The University of Texas in Austin in 1955, a new era of bands opened up. He was to the band program at the university what Darrell Royal was to football. The first challenge he had was to sell the band directors of Texas on the Longhorn Band. During his twenty years as Longhorn Band Director, the band made 17 bowl game performances. The Longhorn Band and Michigan Band are the only major university bands to perform at the Super Bowl. Many of the ideas that Vince introduced with the Longhorn Band have stood the test of time and are very much a part of today’s performances. He introduced March Grandioso, as well as March of the Longhorns and The Wabash Cannonball.

Search Add 6 William S. Walker William Stearns Walker Composer-arranger William "Bill" Stearns Walker (b. 1917 in River Forest, Illinois, USA d. March 27, 1994 in River Forest, Illinois, USA) wrote the music and produced the soundtrack for thousands of radio and television jingles and commercials. Among the products his music promoted were A&W root beer, Wrigley chewing gum, Green Giant vegetables, Sunbeam appliances and Chevrolet cars. Mr. Walker graduated from Oak Park-River Forest High School and Amherst College. He served in the Pacific during World War II. While studying at the Chicago Conservatory of Music from 1945 to 1948, he was a pianist-arranger for the [a=Wayne King] and [a=Ted Weems] Orchestras. He was staff pianist for WGN from 1950 to 1954 and later played with his own band at the Ambassador East's Pump Room. Walker has written the words and music for over fifty published pop and country songs, some of which have been recorded by [a=Peggy Lee], [a=Johnny Desmond], [a=Gordon MacRae], [a=Dean Martin] and [a=Homer And Jethro]. He founded Bill Walker Musical Productions in 1953. In 1953, he started his own company. Bill Walker Musical Productions, Inc. He composed and/or arranged the music, and, in some cases, the lyrics, for over 1,000 soundtracks for radio and television commercials, industrial, documentary and feature films. The commercials have been for Chevrolet, Plymouth, Dodge, Mercury, Oldsmobile, and Ford of Canada as well as many well-known products in fields such as cosmetics, beers, cigarettes, airlines, and household goods. Walker wrote the music for 12 national award-winning commercials and films and won the Grand Prix de la Television in Venice, Italy for the best spot in thf world for that year. The product was Chevrolet. He composed, arranged and produced all the music for the award-winning [l=Bergstrom Paper] Company album, [r=2390117], in which he converted the rhythms of printing presses to music. The album is now a collector's item. Walker composed, arranged and produced all the music for the feature film, Little Laura and Big John, starring [a=Karen Black] and [a=Fabian Forte]. Walker also composed a musical setting for "The Gettysburg Address" and a symphonic fantasy, "Return to Shenandoah," both of which were recorded by baritone [a=Sherrill Milnes]. In the mid-1950s, Mr. Walker purchased and moved into one of the most famous and beautiful of the Frank Lloyd Wright homes, the 1893 Winslow House in River Forest. There have only been five owners in its 120 year-old history. A note signed by Wright is in the Walker family library, simply stating to Bill Walker, "Take good care of it." Peter Walker, who is handling the estate for his family said his mother kept the home in pristine condition up until her death earlier this year, and preserving its history and character has been a great source of pride for his family. Peter Walker, Bill Walker's son, was quoted as saying, “My father loved Frank Lloyd Wright and wanted to own one of his houses. My mother June, a war bride from Australia, took meticulous care of the house.” June S. Walker, Bill's wife, died on April 12, 2013.

Whether it's events, clubs or radio shows, Sal V is known for flawless mixing and eclectic music styles, always at the top of his game knowing what to play and when to play it. Originally from Oxnard, California, his love for music began as a child, watching and learning from local 805 DJs. Working with numerous promoters, he toured for years sharing the stage with superstar DJ's and guest mixing on several radio stations throughout California. Not satisfied with just spinning other people's tracks, he took the next step venturing into production under the new stage name Sal V. His first productions were picked up by local labels Hardstep Records and Fussion Groove, then licensed on several DJ mixed compilation CD's. In the following years he continued producing and remixing, releasing tracks under his own label Full Effect Recordings. In 2006, Sal V joined KRAJ 100.9 The HEAT FM as Mixshow Coordinator, DJ and Producer of several shows including his own project: The Launch Mixshow. Sponsored by Native Instruments' Traktor Scratch, the show featured the best in Electronic Dance Music with Sal V as Host, DJ and Producer along with special guest DJs from around the globe. Search Add 6 Фиолетовый Холст Hard Rock Band from Samara, Russia.

This group played some high-profile concerts in the North East, including gigs supporting The Fall and [a=Pink Military]. Further line-ups followed, including a stint under the name "The Maid’s Neck" before finally calling it a day in 1982.
