Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 6 | Rhys Harper | Rhys Harper | Previously in a different life I have been involved jointly with a small scale record label with Benjamin Watson known as "Sickroom Gramophonic Collective" between 2001-2004. Norwich Live Gig promoter with "WombatWombat" and alternative recording engineer/producer during same period - sometimes working under the name "M.E.G.A.N Process" - recording bands in any location of their choice. Also was a full time member of many bands including the Norfolk UK band Magoo joining the group to help with the promotion of the "Vote The Pacifist Ticket Today" UK tour with Derby band Cable, a Radio One Newcastle sound city live show and various John Peel Sessions for the BBC. After the departure from the group of David Bamford and Andrew Hodge, Andrew Rayner, Owen Turner and I built a 16/256 track digital studio in the 'Sickroom' rehearsal room and we started writing and recording the "Realist Week" album. I remained working with the group until the Realist Week album was released. Other bands I have performed and recorded with include the legendary Norwich group "The Pitkins" as their replacement violinst/guitar back-up , "Drudge" where I recorded, produced and sequenced bass/drums, and Suffolks finest post-punk noise outfit "Tokyo Sexhwale" where we recorded a Polly Session for an Ipswich local radio station. |

Search | Add | 6 | Monochromystic | When astronauts were launched to the moon in the 1960s, they found a “magnificent desolation” and a unique sense of solitude that can only come from being a quarter of a million miles away from the rest of humankind. Compared to the scale of their mission, the resources they were able to bring were relatively minimal and highly focused. Monochromystic finds inspiration in that expansive solitude and focused limitation, producing each spare, ambient work with a single monosynth and a handful of knobby effects in a single take.

Search | Add | 6 | Kodeen | The Swedish metal act KODEEN was born from the remains of a previous existing metal band called Mindtrigger in the end of year 2000. KODEEN was a natural step for the more creative members of Mindtrigger to take, in order to develop new ideas with other musicians, to get a more melodic and more varied direction of the music, which has become the trademark of KODEEN today. Together with a new recruited drummer and a fresh bass player, the band started to rehearse with the goal to find a raw and unique sound. KODEEN became a unified force when a second singer (Magnus Fast ex. Captor) joined the band in early 2001. Magnus’ vocal strengths and abilities as a songwriter completed their search and moved the band forward, with an eagerness to constantly evolve. The six piece constellation have a wide range of influences, which is reflected in their music as extreme from one end of the spectrum to the other. “We're always trying to do things that makes the music more interesting for us and the listener.”

Search | Add | 6 | Laurens Tol | Laurens Tol | Laurens Tol is only 28 years old, but has become an integral part of the Volendam music scene. The bass player is involved in the lion's share of local musical projects. Although he graduated from the Conservatory five years ago, he still studies his instrument every day. This institution has done him no harm. "What I really thought was a great honor, for example, was raiding the 3JS," the musician proudly explains. Laurens has now reached a new milestone. His debut album, entitled The Four Trees, is complete and will be presented next Friday. By Kevin Mooijer In 2013 the Volendammer unknowingly writes the first song for the piece that would become his debut album five years later. ,, At the time I was very active with improvisation lessons from a good guitarist. After a few sessions, the teacher asked me to come up with my own piece a week later. I tried and actually liked it. ”Laurens got the taste for it and often ventured to write instrumental compositions. ,, At one point I had dozens of pieces on my computer and then the idea of making a record came up carefully. Once that thought is alive, you start using it much more intensively. Songs are improved and you want to create a certain line in the album, so it takes a lot more time. " There is good reason why The Four Trees is an instrumental album in a jazz atmosphere. ,, I really like to solo and improvise. You can hear that on the album, also with the other cooperating musicians. Whereas in pop music, for example, you are primarily supporting as a musician, in jazz you have room for improvisation. ” Despite the fact that jazz is often regarded as heavy music, it appears that Laurens ’album is experienced as very accessible. ,, Various people, both music lovers and musicians, have already touched on me with positive reactions about the atmosphere of the music. In the early stages it felt a bit uncomfortable to make this album, because I am used to playing music that appeals to me. So I am very happy that a lot of people like it. " Four instruments can be heard on The Four Trees; the bass guitar, guitar, alto saxophone and drums. The musicians who play the instruments are (old) acquaintances of Laurens from the music world. ,, For such a project as musicians it is important that you have a good click with each other. The boys who participated in this album vary in age between their twenties and fifties. They are all great guests and moreover virtuosos. ”In addition to Laurens Tol on the bass guitar, you can hear Tom Rutgers (drums), Florian Hierdeis (guitar) and Erik van der Weijden (alto saxophone). ,, I am really proud of the end result. As a bass player you have the possibility to record your own album in the studio, that is such a special experience. Nobody takes that away from me anymore. " |

Search | Add | 6 | Shiva The Destroyer | Shiva the Destroyer, an experimental pop band, formed in Ft. Worth, Denton, Waco, and Granbury, Texas in the early 1990s, is the brainchild of Tony Primavera. Rising from the recent ashes of The Codependents (who were to be the ‘next big thing’ before deciding that fame and general acceptance was a useless farce) who disbanded in 1991 or '92. Discoursing on rock is pretty gay, huh? Where is Lester Bangs when you need him? Oh right, he’s dead. Shiva the Destroyer became the live version of The Can't, an improvisational 4-track project of Tony Primavera. The original idea for the group was to be an ever-changing line-up of capable local musicians, each playing a temporary role. That never worked out, considering the superstar egos of many of the Texas “musicians”. Though, there have been around fifteen members of the group besides the three principles. The music, a sort of experimental pop, is inspired by Pussy Galore, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Velvet Underground and The Violent Femmes…although none of Shiva's music sounds like those bands. Primavera always refuses to play with bands that he doesn't like, even if they are popular and the money is good. Some bands Shiva have played with are Sebadoh, Tsunami, Trumans Water, Tiger Trap, Wayward Girl, The Fireworks, Blacktop, Record Player, Pitchblende, God Is My Co-Pilot, Mudhoney, et al. The original line-up consisted of Jacky Shepherd (former guitar player and co-founder of The Codependents along with Tony Primavera who Jacky had played with in various bands since high school in Granbury, Texas. Jacky was the best guitar player around, so Primavera tasked him with the drum duties, which would lead to many a fight between the two. Lyle Darrin was an old skinhead friend of Primavera, so Primavera got him to play guitar. Lyle Darrin is now known as Stanton Meadowdale and is quite a famous and brilliant singer-songwriter in his own right. The idea of using musicians uncomfortable outside their elements gave Primavera free reign to dictate the direction of the group. Later, the original three fell apart. Lyle got a cute young girlfriend who dictated his every move and so was fired on-stage in Austin, Texas; Jacky got a heroin habit (died in 2007, RIP). Primavera took on Bryan Schmitz to play drums, sing back-up vocals, and play the occasional Fender Rhodes organ. Schmitz' musicianship, wit, and humor were so incredible that no words needed be spoken between the two. A symbiotic and instinctual force took control (Radar Love?), so that every recording and every show was perfection. The duo toured the east coast in 1996, after recording some of the band's best songs in Denton, Texas. Tony Primavera wrote the songs and played bass-chords for a while, before turning, prematurely, to guitar (in a spur of the moment experiment opening for Tsunami (some of the nicest people ever) and Versus (self-important dickheads). The lastest Shiva show took place at L'argot in Denton, Texas, after Primavera had relocated to Boston, MA. They conceded to open for the popular metal-funk band Brutal Juice, a band with which they had always refused to play, even though they were friends and, bass player Sam McCall was twice their engineer. "I hated them. I hated their sound and I hated their popularity amongst the frat Neanderthals in that area. I considered them to be playing ignorant and vulgar "beer music," which Jacky liked much. " The money and the large audience was likely the deciding factor in accepting the gig. Now a duo, Bryan Schmitz and Tony Primavera proceeded to inject copious amounts of cocaine and then guzzle Jack Daniels in an attempt to lessen the effects of the coke. This lead to what fans called Shiva's best show ever, consisting of lyrics of mumbled insults to the crowd and about only doing the show for the money, and Primavera vomiting on the crowd several times. Although this was little new for the group. Shiva the Destroyer always took a provocative stance, taunting audience members, and insulting "important" people and other bands, as well as lying to the media and creating fake interviews with the motto "Subvert, Destroy!" Shiva the Destroyer, despite their many relocations, some living in foreign countries, and line-up changes, continues to record their own brand of experimental pop music (often referred to as "spooky pop music"), releasing material mostly on compilations, as well as playing the occasional show. A self-titled "greatest hits" CD (despite the bands distaste for the CD medium) was released in 2001. Several tracks on compilations, including the song "Roxbury Station," appeared on "A Taste of Lapin," released by Thomas Nola's (of Thomas Nöla et son Orchestre) Disques de Lapin in 2008, as well as the song, "Sunday with Jacky," in Denton) on the "Rabbits in Your Stocking," comp. released in 2009. Search | Add | 6 | Hieronymus Bogs | Alexander Talavera | Hieronymus Bogs’s eclectic blend of orchestral folk, spoken word, and performance art nearly evades traditional classification altogether. During one of his intimate performances, you might find the bearded Bogs kneeling penitently, singing, “Lovers, don’t get trapped by illusion,” or someplace offstage beseeching his audience to enter “this half imagined portal.” It’s musical art that’s both unconventional and surprisingly embraceable. Evoking an ancient crooner, Bogs’s voice sits comfortably between Roy Orbison and Scott Walker, with hints of Antony and the Johnsons’s theatricality. Commandingly fusing mystically inspired lyricism and delicately stark instrumentation, his songs set emotions free in an almost hypnotic way. From optimism’s peaks to regret’s chilling depths, his music cycles through potent moods and descriptive imagery, conjuring cinematic landscapes where beggars are clothed, ruins are rebuilt, and beautiful losers waltz through existence. Bogs’s extensive catalog and tireless touring has popularized his unique songcraft and performance style throughout New York and its surrounding areas. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Bogs now resides in Truth or Consequences, NM, a fine muse for his spare poetic aesthetic. |
