Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Slovene Folk Orchestra [a1124512]'s first enlarged polka group consisted of [a2038255] (piano), [a3969190] (Hocevar) (bass), [a8403786] (sax), [a8403783] (banjo), and [a7567198] (drums). They became the most popular band in Cleveland performing at weddings and all sorts of parties. Already in 1938, then 23 year old Frank Yankovic asked [l1866] and [l61808] to make recordings of his band; both companies turned him down, so Frank decided to produce two 78 RPM records under his own [l1969341] label. It was "Heinie" [a7705011] who took Frank and his band to the [l620848], in Downtown Cleveland. [a6834924] owned the studio. Frank was not thinking of a music career yet, so he used "Slovene Folk Orchestra" for his band name. Frank put up all the money for his first records. All 4,000 copies were sold by Mervar's Music Co. of Cleveland, Ohio, in just a few weeks. #421 [r=16520694] #422 [r=16527273] The success of these records led to the recording and release of two more 78 RPM discs in 1939, but this time, they were on the [l1445451] label and the name of the band was [a6409286]. The band members were the same as for the above releases.

Search Add 2 Perplexis Rick White Perplexis was a sporadic project involving the use of Casio or Yamaha porta sound keyboards to create songs. "I have lots of tapes like this starting in 1990 but the Perplexis name was started in 1998. It's usually kind of improvised and each project has a number, like Perplexis #1." [url=https://www.discogs.com/artist/1212-Rick-White](Rick) White[/url] recalls part three occurring at an [url=https://www.discogs.com/artist/590227-Elevator-3]Elevator[/url] show where he and [url=https://www.discogs.com/artist/412614-Tara-White]Tara (White)[/url] improvised music with an analog synth and tape loops. "The only one to ever be released was called [url=https://www.discogs.com/Perplexis-Number-Seven/master/2064808]Perplexis #7[/url] and came out in early 2002 on [url=https://www.discogs.com/Perplexis-Number-Seven/release/5330038]CD-R[/url] through my [url=https://www.discogs.com/label/215756-Great-Beyond-Recordings]Great Beyond Recordings[/url] label. Forms a rap duo called "Dodelijk Duo" (Deadly Duo) alongside his cousin "Seyko" aka Chirre. Refuses to perform live but instead offers his work for free to whoever wants to listen and be inspired. Doesn't see his work as an art-form but more as a personal diary, hence, doesn't call himself a musician or musical artist, but prefers poët, writer.
