Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 29/07/2025

Found 602638 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 3 Alessandro Magini Alessandro Magini Alessandro Magini was born in 1955 in Vernio (in theTuscan Apennines, near Florence). He studied piano and organ in Florence under the guidance of Robert Pichini and attended the masterclasses of Paul von Schilhawsky (Director Emeritus of the Salzburg Mozarteum) on piano performance practice in the lieder repertoire. Alessandro Magini graduated with honors in Musical Dramaturgy from the University of Bologna under the direction of Lorenzo Bianconi and Thomas Walker and in composition from the Conservatory of Bologna with Alessandro Solbiati. Subsequently he graduated with honors the Advanced Course in Composition of the International Music Academy of Novara. He also attended master classes and seminars with F. Donatoni, A. Clementi, G. Petrassi, N. Castiglioni, G. Manzoni, G. Ligeti, L. Berio. He has given a great number of concerts as a piano accompanist as well as an organist. As a composer and researcher Alessandro Magini focuses on the relationship between music and experimental theater. In 1999 he obtained the chair of Musical Dramaturgy and Musicology at the National Academy of Dramatic Art in Rome (where he has been teaching since then) and intensified his activities in music composition for theater (collaborating with directors such as Josè Sanchez Sinisterra, Piotr Fomenko, Marcello Bartoli as weel as with the Teatro Metastasio Stabile of Tuscany, Laboratory Riuniti, Rome). In 2000 he was appointed to the executive council of the “National Committee for the Celebration of the Fourth Centenary of the Birth of the Opera” set up by the Ministry of Heritage and Culture, in collaboration with the Teatro Comunale of Florence, Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale in Florence, the Teatro La Pergola . In 2003 he was appointed artistic coordinator of the Centre Magnolfinuovo Prato (training and production in the field of contemporary musical drama). He also is director of the Centro Bardi, dedicated to studies on experimental music in the Florentine Renaissance (Camerata dei Bardi). The interest in the “sound of the word” connotes some of his studies, published in journals. Many of his compositions have been performed in particulary significant places for the humanism, such as the National Central Library of Florence, Florence Marucelliana Library, Accademia della Crusca (Academy of Bran), Library Casanatense Rome, National Library of Vienna, Opera di Santa Croce in Florence. Alessandro Magini has composed several melologues for Chamber Theatre. Recently he collaborated with the philosopher Sergio Givone for a musical version (cello, guitar and narrator) of the novel “In nome di un Dio barbaro” (Ed. Einaudi). In the last years he has been dedicating a series of compositions to the accordion, solo and in duo with various instruments (cello, organ, guitar, flute, piano, oboe, mandolin, collaborating with I. Battiston, F. Gesualdi, D. Bellugi, F. Dillon, M. Barrera, L. Attademo, S. Malferrari, A. Avital, L. Bagnoli). The accordion is also present in his last two works: “Le storie di San SIlvestro. Una sacra rappresentazione” (mezzo-soprano, narrator, accordion duo) for the Basilica of Santa Croce in Florence and” Naviglio-fantasma” (baritone, accordion, oboe) for the exhibition “Futurism in Calabrian music” at the University of Calabria. He is member of the Italian Academy of Cinema for the David di Donatello Awards. His works are published by Edizioni Musicali Berben and, in digital, by EMA Vinci records

Search Add 3 Thula Sizwe : The Group Zulu The South African group Thula Sizwe is the 10-man Zulu singing and dancing troop. The group comes from Soshanguve Township in Gauteng Province near Pretoria, South Africa. Thula Sizwe’s leader, Jabulani Abel Dlamini, comes from a family of musicians, speaks 9 of his country’s 11 official languages. Thula Sizwe sing in the rhythmic, harmonious Isicathamiya style. The group’s call and response acappella style, from the deepest bass to the highest of tenors. Is accompanied by two African drums and the singers’ stomping feet and clapping hands. The style evolved from tribal performance during the last century when men left their rural homelands to find work in mines and cities and sang to entertain each other. The name means “walk softly.” They sing to praise God, celebrate life, tell stories and scare demons. The name “Thula Sizwe” means “Hush and Listen.” They started singing in the 1980s while still in high school at a time when South Africa was still under apartheid. The group, all of whose members are black, needed special permission to sing together. “Music is our job. It is our daily bread,” said Alfred Letsoalo, one of the group’s two drummers, when asked if members worked at other jobs at home in South Africa, where unemployment is high. The members are: Abel Dlamini, Jackson Mawela, Paul Ramafalo, Nicholas Lenkwati, Alfred Letsoalo, Jonathan Mabuya, Johannes Magana, Moshesh Makwetsa, Shadrack Mgiba, Judas Mabuya.

Search Add 3 Legend Revisited LEGEND (18) was a classic 70s proggy metal band that released one album, "From The Fjords". Original member Ray Frigon set out to reform the band, but guitar player Kevin Nugent is sadly no longer with us. Legend was asked to play in Europe and contacted Janne Stark about handling the guitar. Unfortunately Janne was busy with Overdrive and Falling Hazard at the time and had to turn the offer down. Instead his friend Martin J Andersen (Blindstone, Walter Trout etc) came in on guitar. The gigs however never happened because of Covid. Ray had become a born again Christian and wanted to re-record some of the old material with new lyrics as LEGEND REVISITED, featuring Martin on guitar. The bass spot was free as original bass player Fred Melillo was not in the picture. Instead the spot was filled by Janne Stark. In 2023 they started recording the album that was entitled "From The Lord". In June 2024 the album saw the light of day

While born in Dakar, and of French citizenship, she made Harare, Zimbabwe her primary residence at the age of 24 (2009). She is a certified commercial airline pilot, having flown cargo DC-10s for Avient Aviation, later MD-11s AV Cargo of Zimbabwe. At the age of 15, she discovered disco, listening to modern house music broadcast by Radio FG in Paris. She learned to play the piano at the age of 5 and the violin at the age of 7, and combined with her later interest in disco, pursued music production as a side project from her airline duties. She graduated in 2003 from the Lycée EIB Etoile school in Paris, earning her baccalaureate, and went on to La Sorbonne, earning a degree in Political Science, before deciding to follow her passion and joining a flight academy. She joined Avient Aviation in 2009 as a first officer on the DC-10, and later transitioning to the MD-11. She remained passionate about disco and italodisco, and heavily researched the European contributions to the genres. She married fellow Avient pilot Michael Halliwell in 2010, changing her last name to Mondor-Halliwell. She met Martin Zuniga in New York in 2012, a former business associate of her father, and participated with his production efforts starting in 2013, working long-distance from Harare, and occasionally traveling to the United States. She is a founding member of Alpha Sixty, who released their debut album "Dark City" on April 17, 2015.

A friend played one of his mix tapes at work and his boss was the guy that ran the Lovelite crew at The Grid Club in Luton. He liked it and offered him a DJ residency there. After a while Matt sent tapes out and picked up a few gigs – ESP at Milwaukees, Bass Box in London, Stamina in Oxford and whatever raves he could get booked for. A while later hooking up with the Exodus crew who were running illegal raves around the Luton area and pretty much played for them every Saturday from the very first one to two years later. The most famous was probably a New Year’s Eve bash they did that had 10K people attend according to the local paper!.

Search Add 3 The Gary Cooper Combo Gary Cooper was from the beginning a Lars Mertanen (now Kranz) solo project after the Iguana Foundation. Harry Byrnes (Electric Garden) who had released Iguana Foundation on record thought Lars should start playing live, so Pelle Strandberg who sang in Iguana Foundation took the drums, Iggo (from Kitchen & the Plastic Spoons) took the bass, and Mats Hellqvist (later bob hund) took the solo guitar. Lars wrote most of the songs, sang and played some guitar. The name Gary Cooper was filled with Combo. Pelle left after just a few gigs, but was replaced by Mats' brother Martin on drums. He was in for about three years, hoping to leave when he was expecting children, then replaced by Mats Andersson (Zoo, bob hund). Mats Hellqvist was in for about one and a half years, he would rather play bass and started Apa, Epa and later bob hund. John Essing took over the solo guitar and the last year, Per Ulander also featured on violin, harmonica and guitar. Two singles and one LP were released by Harry before the band split after about four years.

Search Add 3 Manias / Sale Sangre Manìas is: Drew M. Ruiz - All Guitars, Vocals Ernest Gurulé - Guitars Mike Orr - Drums Albuquerque, N.M., late 1993, guitarist Drew “M” Ruiz, and bassist “Bloody” Gary Garcia set out to form a brutal death/groove/grind band. After extensive deliberation this band inherited the name Manîas pronounced Man-I-as. Local live shows and an extensive tour of Mexico drew immediate attention to the band. Main songwriter Drew was greatly inspired by the reaction and support of the fans in Mexico. He felt the need to repay them the only way he knew possible. That was to write lyrics in Spanish, and christen the band with a Spanish name to be used exclusively in Mexico. That name was “Salé Sangre”. Confusion arose about the bands’ name because of this unique concept. Never the less “Manîas-Salé Sangre” (the band with two names), forged ahead and became known as “brutal bilingual” death metal. Prior to recording their first demo in 1995, bassist “Bloody Gary” was asked to depart due to substance abuse. Drew has gone through many line-up changes since. “Manîas” has had many trials and tribulations throughout the years, worst of which happened in early 1999, when Drew “M” Ruiz, was arrested for transporting a quantity of marijuana. Before Drew was sentenced to five years in federal prison in Oct., 1999, “Manîas” recorded its first full length CD on “Entrapment records” (now “Dead World Syndicate” Rec.), entitled “Identity Crisis”. “Identity Crisis” is an anthology of past demos, and the then ‘new’ songs. This CD was released while Drew was serving his sentence, Manîas-Salé Sangre couldn’t tour to support it. After 40 months behind the fence, in March 2003, Drew is released and is back fulfilling his promise to continue on this “brutal bilingual” path. It has been 2 years since Manîas is back in the forum. With the help of talented musicians: Ernest Gurulé on guitar, Mike Orr on drums, all 3 of the Manîas trinity contribute to the latest material. Give a listen and know that this countries penal system breeds anger and hate in its purest form. Search Add 3 Industrial Techware Micah Harwell, Jeff Kieke The Industrial Techware music project from Bakersfield (California/US) has encompassed quite a bit of musical territory from the classic techno-sounding 'Boot' to the weird analog and industrial sounds of 'Darkwave'. From this point forward (post-Darkwave), any music under the name of Industrial Techware will be strictly industrial with lots of vocals, lots of synths, and maybe even a few guitars here and there. With all the drum oriented techno around, Industrial Techware is trying to bring back the excitement and darkness of the more classic techno. The style incorporates a mix of wet drippy ear candy, strong structure, solid rhythms, and lots of movement.

Search Add 3 Yvan Acosta Edison Yvan Acosta Yvan Acosta is a Dominican musician and producer who, alongside his brother Raul Acosta “El Presidente”, formed the internationally acclaimed merengue band Oro Sólido. Born in Barahona, Dominican Republic on July 30, 1965, Yvan was born into a musical family. His father Rafael “Santo” Acosta was a percussionist. And he and his younger brothers Rafael and Raul started a pre-adolescent music group called "Los Sobrinos Del Rey" a Dominican version of the Jackson 5. With this early experience, Yvan was able to further develop his innate musical talent as well as his stage presence. The group went on to perform in two nationally televised shows on the government TV station, channel four, for a show called "Amarillis con los Niños.” As a teen, the family relocated to the United States. With no English skills, Yvan moved to Union City, New Jersey to start his new life. During his high school days at Emerson High School, Yvan began performing güira with local bands, such as “Los Quisqueyanos”, “Kennedy y sus Generales”, merengue singer Fauto Rey and “Willy y El Grupo”. He later begain his studies in music and bass guitar by joining Kennedy's Music World, a local music studio, school, and store, where he met a teacher named Kennedy Cortina. Throughout his 30-year career, Yvan has recorded and performed with Oro Solido. His bass is the original sound that made the group famous, and he is considered a trailblazer for implementing this style of merengue on the bass when the group was founded in 1994. He continues to perform with the group internationally and is well respected in the Latin music industry.

Search Add 3 Acero Negro Acero Negro is considered the most iconic hard rock and 80's heavy metal style band from Lleida, settled in the western province of Catalonia, in Spain, since their early origins in 1986 until their last gig in November 2015. They were formed in the middle of 1985 after the guitar player Alberto Monsonís "Berto" left the band Lev3 to found the seminal Tealakian with Tomás Carmona (drums) and Agustín "Angus" Lara (bass). Soon, the singer Juan Yeste joined the band, also playing guitar and later on bass as soon as Lara left the already renamed Acero Negro. They become a quartet with quite a good projection around Catalonia and Aragon throughout their concerts around, until in 1992 they released their first demo "Acero Negro" with Diego Pelegrí (guitar) and Xaba Badía (drums). After some hiatus and lineup changes (Ramón Ramos, Oriol Cornet, Juan León, Carlos Capilla) in 2003 Acero Negro reunited as a quintet (with a new bass player, Josep Mª Lasierra "Lasi") and two years later they released their first studio album "20 Años y Muchas Noches Más", winning first prize in the Pepe Marín Rock contest and taking part in the national festival Senglar Rock 2005 edition. As opening band for other important groups such as Sepultura, Saxon, Gama Ray , Barón Rojo, Los Suaves, Soziedad Alkoholika or Su Ta Gar, Acero Negro have gained respect and consideration from other new and settled bands from Lleida. Their last record "Mi Motor" released in 2014 became also their final farewell when soon after a concert in Sala Oh Yeah they disbanded, with Yeste becoming a professional photographer full time, Lasi involving with the Mister Jones and Pelegrí leaving apart from music. Eventually, Montsonís joined the metal band Blindpoint.
