Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

After an Army reorganisation in 1972 all bands were either disbanded or renamed after the military district in which they were located and in 1974 it became [a=The Band Of The Second Military District]. As a result of organisational changes in 1991, the titles of all bands were changed to unique names which would provide a clear Army and geographical identity and it was renamed [a=Australian Army Band Sydney].

Search Add 3 The Potters Wood Kingswood Silver Band Founded in 1892 as the Bristol East Temperance Band by George William White for the miners in the locality, the Band has had a continuous presence in local activities and wider afield. The White family, widely known in East Bristol, were heavily involved from the beginning in conducting, teaching, playing and administering the Band's affairs. The Band participated in various contests with the highlight of each year being the West of England Championships in Spring. The Band was consolidating its return to the Second section prior to the merger. Kingswood (Bristol) Band The Kingswood Bristol Band, as it is was last known, was formed in 1958 by Mr Herbert Sevier. Consisting initially of boys from the Potters Wood Methodist Church it went by the name of 'Kingswood and District Band'. The first rehearsal, taken by Herbert, was on 14th January 1959. The band rapidly grew in numbers and success, reaching the National Finals in London in 1966. It was also in 1966 that the now 'Potters Wood Kingswood Hill, Bristol Silver Band' amalgamated with the Albion Dockyard Silver Band who were also conducted by Herbert Sevier. The band's name now changed to the 'Kingswood (Potters Wood) Silver Band'. The band was now going from strength to strength, culminating in promotion to the Championship Section. The band secured sponsorship from local manufacturing company Bendix in 1976, a partnership that lasted over 20 years. 'The Bendix Kingswood Band' again reached Championship status in 1988. A severe lack of players almost caused the band to fold in the mid 1990's but, through the loyalty of the members, built its way back up. In 2000, the band was placed 1st in the regional championships held at the Riviera Centre, Torquay, becoming the Boosey & Hawkes National Brass Band Champions of the West of England (2nd Section) enabling them to compete in the National Finals in Preston. The band qualified again in 2001, again enabling them to compete in the National Finals. In this year both the Regionals and Finals were held in Torquay! Although throughout the banding world they became known as 'The Bendix Band', sponsorship from the Bendix company eventually ceased with the company's demise. With this in mind, in July 2006 the band changed its name to the 'Kingswood Bristol Band'. Thus maintaining its links to the community it regards as home.

As both educators and parents, each of the five group members believes that families deserve shared experiences to be enjoyed together. [a=Mike Mennard (2)], an award-winning recording artist and veteran to the children's market, launched the group, drawing on his own experience. They chose to go drumless and the front line is driven along by the flowing banjo playing of leader Mark Challinor, accompanied by the rhythmic string bass of Richard Vernon - a real powerhouse rhythm section from the band's youngsters! The front line of Ged Hone on trumpet, Mike Hayler on clarinet/tenor sax and Mike Pembroke on trombone play superbly as one during ensemble work but also demonstrate their years of experience, producing engaging solos.

Search Add 3 Jean-Paul Lafitte Jean-Paul Lafitte is a French composer, writer and singer, living between USA, Haiti and France. He first collaborated with Philippe Bréjean, Marc Fabien Bonnard, Patrick Lemaitre, Didier Barbelivien, Gerard Stern, Christian Géant and two top majors, Polydor and Barclay. During the nineties, Jean Paul met with few artists among the best of the so called "New Generation" and co-signed several songs released with John Doane from the band “Skandal” and Patrick Handal (Gitano), Fabrice Rouzier (Et Si Enfin, L'Exilé) and Lionel Volel (Le Mango Blues). He also was retained by the filmmaker Sacha Parisot to work on the movie score of "La Rebelle" with the title "La rebelle, c'est moi" interpreted by the talented Muriel Scott. Early 2000, Jean Paul wrote a piece of twelve songs for a Fund Raising Campain against Cancer. The Album "L'Hymne A La Vie" was a great success. In 2016 Reginald Policard offers to collaborate for a song interpreted by Ralph Thamar "Ebène est ta couleur", released in 2017 on Reginald Policard Album of the year "Mirage". “Ebène est ta couleur” contributed to the success of that album. Beginning 2020 Jean-Paul Lafitte signed with Paradise Label to collaborate with several artists. The first Christopher Nao / Jean-Paul Lafitte collaboration started with an original motion picture soundtrack "The Last Squaw".

Search Add 3 Tony Gil The Washington Area Music Association gave out its annual Wammie Awards in 1997, honoring area musicians and other members of the local music scene. Jazz singer Tony Gil was the biggest winner, receiving the award for artist of the year, while his CD "Tenderly: A Tribute to Felix Grant" won as album of the year. Certainly one of Washington's most prolific musicians, Gil has released five CDs in the past 2 1/2 years. Gil, whose parents are Ecuadorean, was named best Latino vocalist, and his album "Yo Te Recuerdo" won for best Latino recording. And in the contemporary jazz category, Gil won the award for best male vocalist and his CD "Essentially Jobim" was voted best recording. That CD also won an award for best record design for Lawrence Marie. At the ceremonies in the Lisner Auditorium, Gil and Pam Bricker performed duets of "Just the Way You Look Tonight" and "One Note Samba," which helped explain Gil's many awards. WAMA has attempted to streamline the award presentations to make room for more live music. And while some might have second-guessed that decision after the maudlin performance by kiddie-folk act Bridges to Bliss, they were surely pleased about it when Ruth Brown came on. Brown, inducted this year into the WAMA Hall of Fame, received standing ovations for two rollicking numbers, including one from her Tony Award-winning role in the musical "Black & Blue." (Also inducted were jazz musicians Sonny Stitt and Donald Byrd.) The Latin jazz dance band Rumba Club started the evening off with some excellent salsa, and folk near-legend Tom Paxton performed a hilarious ode to the airline that broke his guitar. Heady, an MC with the hip-hop group 3LG, tried to get the hall going, waving his hands and shouting, "We're gonna make this a hip-hop party!" With the songs "La La (What Do You Expect?)" and "The Chain," the group nearly succeeded, despite the muddy audio mix. The Michael Sheppard Group and Ruthie & the Wranglers each poured their hearts into their two-song sets. A complete list of last night's Wammie winners will appear in the Nightwatch column in Friday's Weekend section. CAPTION: Tony Gil and Ruth Brown performing at last night's Wammies. Gil took home the award for artist of the year.

Baerhard Bæhard was born in Naples in the mid-70s, spent his adolescence playing with mixers and decks, in the mid-90s he decided to start producing his own music with an atari 1200st. As a boy he loves Techno music. In the early 90's he listens to a lot of reggae music and it is almost by chance that he discovers the dub, which he loves immediately. Techno and Dub thus become a living reason for him, so labels like Basic Channel become his point of reference. So he unites his two greatest loves. He does not like to be seen in public, he does not like performing live or performing DJ sets, he loves the sea is the island of Ischia.
