Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024

Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 DJ K-Nice Ken Fisher DJ K-Nice experienced an epiphany upon the first Fresh Fest concert in 1987. While watching Run DMC and Whodini, and DJs Jam Master Jay and Grand Master D, he knew that he was destined to move crowds through music. "My roots are in that era," says the 6-foot-2 DJ, grinning. "I’m kind of old school, but I still got some new to me." The DJ pays homage to those roots on weekly hip-hop nights around town; he has a residence Thursday and Saturday at Rick’s Music Café (9565 Telegraph, Detroit; call 313-533-8000) and Tuesday at Marilyn’s on Monroe (498 Monroe, Detroit; call 313-963-1980). Coming up, K-Nice was just a white kid from Taylor, removed from the fast track of Detroit’s hip-hop centers. Until Eminem blew up, white guys weren’t getting much love on the hip-hop scene. Like other rising hip-hop artists, K-Nice saw racial lines blur with the success of Slim Shady. "Dr. Dre put his stamp of approval on Eminem and he’s off and running," he asserts. Yet, the turntablist is quick to admit that it wasn’t always easy. "There’s more skepticism when people first see me — until they see me work the turntables." Undaunted by early hurdles, K-Nice kept spinning and passing out his mix tapes to anyone who wanted to listen — mostly his high-school classmates. K-Nice acquired quite a few listeners. "I tried to learn how to scratch and learn how Jam Master Jay was doing it," he explains. "I would rewind Krush Groove [a 1985 hip-hop film] and watch it over again. That was my favorite." Seeing P-Funkster George Clinton brought about another epiphany. "That’s when it really started getting serious for me," he says. "I always wanted to be a producer, but I wanted to know enough to tell the engineer what to do. I wanted to work with artists and start a record label." K-Nice enrolled in the Recording Institute in Detroit, a local trade school for music recording and graduated in 1995. Three years later he launched Richter Scale Records. In each of the four years since the label’s inception, he has released a mix CD highlighting Detroit artists and producers. The most recent, World Famous Vol. 2, saw light in May and has already sold out of its initial pressing. "The CD features two of the hottest up-and-coming MC’s, Obie Trice and Sol," says K-Nice. The next Richter project, Blacklisted Volume 2, will drop in October. It will be one of the largest comps of Detroit hip hop ever released, a double CD featuring 14 producers and 39 rappers. "The first volume of Blacklisted focused more on the artist," explains K-Nice. "But Volume 2 will highlight several local producers including Money Mike, Sick Notes and Disaster." In addition to bringing together Detroit’s hottest artists and producers, K-Nice also had "sought out underexposed artists who were so dope on the street. Everyone needed to hear them." K-Nice has done time behind the turntables with several local artists, including the Fat Killers and Trice, who has recently signed to Eminem’s imprint, Shady Records. Marwon, of the Fat Killers, at a respectable 5-foot-10 and 305 lbs., testifies, "I love K. He’s real and he doesn’t pull any punches. He’s given local artists the opportunity to showcase their talent in an avenue that we wouldn’t normally have." K-Nice has also managed to fuse Detroit’s hip-hop underground with nationally celebrated heroes of the genre. For Blacklisted Volume 2, DJ K-Nice recently initiated "You Gotsta Chill Showcase Saturdays" at Rick’s Music Café. Every week, there is an open mic and a live performance around midnight by one of the artists on the pending Volume 2. World-renowned DJ Kid Capri will be brought in to kick off Volume 2’s release. K-Nice has his sights set on Detroit hip-hop becoming more of an influence on the world. He’d like to see Richter Scale become a major label.

Search Add 2 Kidsway Composed of (former) members of Balcony, Take A Stand and Asia Minor, they continue a series of fun projects with hardcore punk that they have been carrying since 2018. Kidsway shows the fun and introspective side of 90's hardcore which has its roots in NYHC bands like CIV and Warzone, besides of course PMA Hardcore bands like H2O. The format and vibe in the 90s Bandung era was represented by Full of Hate, which on this album they extensively mixed with influences from Snapcase to Beastie Boys.

Search Add 2 Crash-N-Burn Crash-N-Burn was a punk rock band from San Francisco, California, USA. (approx. 1984-1988) CnB was more than just a generic punk band as their music could also draw on free improv, metal, prog rock and funk. The original version of the band was: John Sanders: guitar and vocals Ray Houghton: guitar and vocals Amy Sanders; bass and vocals Jeff Gerard: drums This version of the band included a lot of free improvisation and noisy avant-garde influences in their music, along with plenty of California hardcore punk. Jeff was murdered by the notorious serial killers Charles Ng and Leonard Lake which led to PJ Hakimi joining the group on drums. With PJ on board the band went in more of a thrash metal direction. PJ quit and was replaced by John Lieb on drums and vocals, and soon after Ray quit the band. This new three piece version of the band leaned more in a heavy prog rock direction, often sounding like a punk version of King Crimson. John Lieb eventually quit the band and was replaced by Dean Menta on guitar and Parry Wolfe on drums. This final version of CnB took on more of a punk funk direction with a lot of influence from the emerging hip-hop scene. Crash-N-Burn finally folded somewhere around 1988 with John Sanders, Parry Wolfe and Amy Sanders moving on to start New Power Soul, a seven piece funk band.

Travis began his musical career as a drummer and has played in various bands in the Houston area since the age of 17. He has continued in his musical endeavors over the years as a singer and songwriter. Joe is an experienced keyboardist, who uses a wide range of experimental techniques to bring depth and an inventive quality to his work. The two were brought together through their shared interests in experimental rock, avant-garde, post-rock, neo-folk, and psychedelic rock. Their musical experience and eclectic array of influences are manifested in a sound that is textured and atmospheric, at times even abrasive, sweeping in and out of an acoustic landscape, and layered with vocals full of visceral passion.

Search Add 2 Mitho Kanywa There used to be a South German band from the small town of Waldshut that won quite a few music awards such as the German Rock Prize, SWR3 Rookies and a few others on their mantelpiece at home. Then it was quiet for a while - and now they're back. Stylistically, the unabashed composition of different, long-established musical styles, regardless of time and fashion, is still convincing. Mitho Kanywa combines electronic grooves, crackling warm guitar sounds and bittersweet harmony vocals to create a mixture of music that works completely independent of space and time. Their sound sounds like an experiment in which the euphoria of the young Deutsche Welle reacts with the melancholy of Element of Crime. Songs for the stage, indie pop miniatures that sparkle and glitter like a spinning disco ball. Music for dark blue nights. Heartbeat.

Search Add 2 А. Остроумова-Лебедева Анна Петровна Остроумова-Лебедева (17 May 1871 — 5 May 1955) Russian and Soviet artist and painter most notable for her watercolor painting. She was also one of the pioneers of the woodcut technique in Russia. She was born as Anna Ostroumova in Saint Petersburg. In 1905, she married the chemist Sergey Lebedev. She studied painting at the Stieglitz School of Technical Drawing, and subsequently at the Imperial Academy of Arts under Ilya Repin. The academy only started to accept women in 1892, and Ostroumova was one of the first women alumni. In 1898 and 1899 she studied in Paris at the Académie Colarossi, and also with James McNeill Whistler at the Académie Carmen. In 1900, Ostroumova graduated from the academy, specializing on graphics, and at the same year joined the Mir iskusstva art group in Saint Petersburg. In 1901, she produced the first series of woodcuts with Saint Petersburg cityscapes, ordered by Sergei Diaghilev. In the 1900s—1910s she extensively travelled around Europe and also worked as a book illustrator. Since 1934, she worked as a professor in the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Architecture, and Sculpture. Ostroumova-Lebedeva survived the Siege of Leningrad, but sometime after that became blind. She died in 1955 in Leningrad. The main topic of her graphic works, both woodcuts and watercolors, were cityscapes of Saint Petersburg. She was also interested in European cityscapes, resulting from her travels in Europe.

They morphed into a band that blurred the boundaries between Soul, R&B, Funk, and Jazz, winning a 1979 Musician's Insider Connie Hechter Award (for best over-all band) before disbanding in 1981. In 1970 he released his second EP, 'Kunem Te Ljubavi' which also had four tracks on it. This album was published by Yugoslav label Diskos. The songs on this album were written by him and Nikola Badev. In 1991, he also helped write a song for Macedonian folk group Koda (also known as Grupa Koda.) He wrote the lyrics for the song Devet zeni imav jas (Девет жени имав јас). His sister, Mirvet Belovska, was also a folk singer.

Search Add 2 Giovanni Francesco Pressenda Giovanni Francesco Pressenda Giovanni Francesco Pressenda (1777—12 Dec 1854), also known as Joannes Franciscus Pressenda, was an Italian luthier, one of the formative figures of the "Turin School" of violin-making. Giovanni grew up in a remote village and spent his early adulthood working on farms. With a natural talent for crafts and wood-carving, Pressenda eventually relocated to a more urban area. In the early/mid-1810s, he pursued luthiery at Nicolas Leté-Pillement's renowned workshop in Turin. An avid French entrepreneur, Lete-Pillement operated his atelier very efficiently, with a sizable staff of specialists, continuous training and workflow procedures, etc. Their instruments represented the "Parisian style," essentially modified Stradivarius, and this influence prevailed in Pressenda's early builds. After Nicolas Leté passed away in 1819, Giovanni F. Pressenda, who was the only Italian on staff, gradually took over the atelier. Around 1832, Pressenda established his independent workshop in Turin. Giovanni Francesco operated it as "manifattura," perhaps inspired by his business-savvy French teachers, and had multiple assistants and apprentices; his best-known student was Giuseppe Rocca. It appears that Pressenda actively spread bogus claims he was Lorenzo Storioni's apprentice in Cremona before relocating to Turin, perhaps to increase his brand's credibility. In later instruments, Pressenda was bolder and more inventive, experimenting and introducing some original solutions. With the iconic scribe line down the center of the scroll and darker-red varnish, Pressenda's violins became a benchmark of "Turin School" for the next few generations of Italian luthiers.

Search Add 2 The Goodkind The Goodkind was born in Isla Vista, Santa Barbara in 1996 when lead singer/songwriter Tim Stone moved in with three friends in order to attend UCSB and pursue his English degree. His early band enjoyed instant success in the area playing nightly shows all over Santa Barbara. They recorded and produced their first CD "Strange New Life" which sold 2000 copies in just two weeks. They had radio airplay and were asked to play on the UCSB campus numerous times as well. Tim left Santa Barbara in late 1997 to attend a more academic school in southern California, UCI, where he earned his degree in 2000. While in Socal he met RJ Williams who worked with him at the original First Class Pizza location in VIlla Park, close to his families home. This pairing of Tim Stone and RJ Williams pushed the envelope of the earlier music to new heights. They recorded another 'quick' CD at Running Wild Studios with engineer/producer/songwriter Paul Levi entitled '5-4-5'. This was a five song CD which they sold for 5 dollars, hence the name. This CD also sold about 3000 copies in about one month, only due to the heavy work schedule that both members had to endure and the small number of shows that they were able to line up in between. Finally Tim and RJ decided to make a "real" CD, one that they would actually take more than three eight hour days to record. They enlisted the help of musician/engineer/producer Shawn Sullivan. Shawn was the recording/engineering instructor at Orange Coast College and began sneaking the boys into late night sessions on the campus and in a wherehouse space in Newport Beach. While recording, their early tracks were heard by another artist who was also recording with Shawn. He saw so much potential in the tracks that he took the boys under his wing and began paying for all of their recording time. This CD, entitled 'The Goodkind' sold close to 6000 copies in just two months. The amazing thing was that the band only played 10 shows in those two months and besides the random one or two sold to friends, all 6000 copies were gone after those 10 shows. The Goodkind has played shows at The Pond in Anaheim, The Galaxy Theatre, The Doll House in Fullerton, The Boogie, Hennessy's Taverns all over OC, private art shows, UC campuses, and many many other smaller venues in OC. Tim now writes and records his own music in his home studio in Huntington Beach and is looking for someone in the industry with 'clout' to help him get national and international exposure. Tim's early success and excellent music bode well for his future and the future of anyone willing to help him get to the next level.

Search Add 2 Geri O'Brien Geri O'Brien is a 26 year old bundle of energy from Gaspe, Quebec., who has been setting country music fans on their ear all around the country. Although Geri can play guitar, she accompanies herself instead with a snare drum, and the way she handles the drum along with singing a spectacular song has made her a prime attraction with Dusty King's Country Cats, the group with whom she appears. Geri's TV career began in Corwall in 1960, followed a stint on Sherbrooke's Channel 7 -- CHLT-TV. This led to a contract with Dusty King's group and appearances around Canada and the U.S.A. Geri's favorite country singers are Jean Sheppard, and in this her first record album she's chosen a dozen of her own special favorites. It's a listening package that will provide a mighty enjoyable sample of a talented new singer. * Biography information from the Arc album "Out Behind The Barn - With Geri O'Brien"
