Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024

Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Huffing Freon From AC Units Experimental electronic "One Man Band" side-project from the creator of the french Canadian band "Adamo Presto Prestigimo". Still located in Montreal-North, Québec, Canada after a cancelled re-location to Las Vegas, Nevada. "Huffing Freon From AC Units" gained little to no press coverage when it was discovered that René Angelil's original will (containing 6 pages about "Huffing Freon From AC Units" upcoming recording deals, distribution rights and exclusives live opening performances contracts for Céline Dion's north American promotional tour) was mysteriously changed hours before his death. Among the many changes set forth, all mentions of "Huffing Freon From AC Units" were completely removed. Only one surviving copy of the original will is known to exist and is notoriously hand-signed by both René Angelil and Céline Dion. In December of 2016, the document was acquired by an anonymous collector in Lebanon. Still active despite the enormous amount of pressure, "Huffing Freon From AC Units" now releases albums, singles and music videos without any input from "major" studios.

Search Add 2 Roger Scimé Roger B. Scimé Pianist and composer. Born c.1938. Died Aug 6, 1983. His name is pronounced SHEE-MAY. He won an Arthur Godfrey Talent Scouts program when he was eight years old. He was hailed at a young age as a child prodigy and appeared on radio and TV, playing with symphony orchestras. He was taught by Edward Weiss, the famed pupil of Busoni. He was called "rather self‐indulgent, emotional pianist, who likes sharp contrasts and much rubato" when he was a young player in 1964 but seven years later said he "has made significant progress, producing a mellow, quite lovely keyboard tone". He recorded for Columbia’s subsidiary Epic label. He issued a Gershwin album in 1959 but a car accident damaged his hands in the 1960's. He continued to play but in a diminished capacity.

Seit vielen Jahren singt Gertrud Stippig internationale Folklore. Search Add 2 Elekid Jerry Greco III Since the age of 14, in Chicago (1997), Elekid has turned DJing into a science, mastering the art, and becoming a household name, placing him among some of the top DJs in the harder styles of electronic music in North America. Not limiting himself to just one or two styles, Elekid's wide variety and unique approach to mixing is what makes his sets memorable and loved by many. His methods of engineering sets and being able to execute with extraordinary accuracy is what has made him a sought after DJ. Elekid's breakout from the Midwest happened in 2002, and he hasn't looked back since. Playing from coast to coast, in almost every major city, and on many radio shows and podcasts, Elekid has left crowds demanding more. In 2004, Elekid started his "Summer Vacation" series, showcasing all that he's capable of, with each one being unique, themed, and entertaining from start to finish. Every year brings a new and different Summer Vacation. One year might be Frenchcore, another Happy Hardcore, or Jumpstyle, another Breaks. These mixes are a part of a vast collection of mix compilations Elekid has released since 1997, which can all be downloaded from his Soundcloud. In 2005, Elekid took it to the next level and began producing, starting with Hard House. In the years since, Elekid has had several releases and remixes, most notably, "Tekno Drugs", on several different labels. More recently, he has been a heavy backer for Frenchcore in America, and has been pushing the Frenchcore sound. If it's hard, it's Elekid.

Search Add 2 谷口雅春 Masaharu Taniguchi (谷口 雅春) Masaharu Taniguchi (谷口 雅春, Taniguchi Masaharu, 22 November 1893 – 17 June 1985) was a Japanese New Thought leader, founder of [a=Seicho-No-Ie]. He began studying English literature at the Waseda University, Tokyo. In parallel, he also studied the works of Fenwicke Holmes, and subsequently translated Holmes' book, The Law of Mind in Action into Japanese. In 1929, after much study and contemplation, he reported having received a divine revelation followed by the healing of his daughter. This led in 1930 to the creation of a magazine, Seicho-no-Ie ("home of infinite life, wisdom, and abundance"). The movement grew during the 1930s, although was suppressed during World War II. In 1952, he co-authored a book with Fenwicke Holmes titled The Science of Faith. Taniguchi died in a Nagasaki hospital on June 17, 1985, at the age of ninety-one.

Search Add 2 Here Comes Jim Here Comes Jim emerged in the fall of 1993 from the ashes of singer Matt Greenhough, guitarist James McAlister and drummer Matt Brooks' former band, Potato House. Bass player Dave Kuhr had sat in with them for a gig with his then current band, Gravy Brain, after which it was decided that they would form a new group; Kuhr brought with him schoolmate / guitarist Shawn Vanderloo and the mark I lineup was established. A portion of their first proper gig, from December at the Volcano club in Kitchener, was preserved on an independently released cassette called 'KW Aggression'. An unreleased, ten track, live off the floor session was recorded and completed before Vanderloo quit in the spring of 1994. Soon after, longtime friend / roadie / camera man Craig Stanhope joined and his addition would cement the classic mark II lineup. The sound evolved as McAlister took over from Vanderloo as primary song writer and Stanhope brought in his punk sensibilities, joining the airtight rhythm section of Kuhr and Brooks, Greenhough's lyrics became even more personal and evocative. The groups primary influences, The Smiths, Dinosaur Jr, Misfits, Joy Division, Ned's Atomic Dustbin, Alice In Chains, The Cure, Suede, Van Halen, Radiohead, The Auteurs, Fugazi, and Pavement, were melted down into a kind of post-punk / britpop / grunge hybrid. Over the next year and half, the unit continued to progress and gel together by way of constant rehearsal in the Greenhough family’s basement and scattered gigs across the region. Two separate recording sessions at the Helm in Kitchener yielded four songs apiece but again, these tracks went unreleased by the band. In the spring of 1996, work on a new recording began at Rivendell in Hespeler and the fruitful sessions continued until six songs were completed. In the fall of that year, HCJ self-released the cassette 'Figure 1A: Born in Captivity' which would be the only recordings of this version of the band to see any kind of release. The mk.II lineup fractured in the summer of 1997, playing their final gig at Kitchener's Mrs. Robinsons in July. Singer Matt Greenhough and guitarist Craig Stanhope would soon reboot the band with Greenhough deciding to take on second guitar duties. Brian Wilmer, a good friend of original bass player Dave Kuhr and a member of Better Daze / Too Many Jennifers, a band who had played multiple gigs with HCJ in the past, was recruited to fill the bass chair. Once drummer Chuck Furbacher was found, the mk.III lineup was complete and the group worked on completing a fresh batch of songs. In late 1998, they went into the Hi-Fi Way in Cambridge with Irv Russell resulting in the album 'Where Evil is Afraid' which was released on CD the following year through the bands own Darkstar Records. The album included two songs written by the mk.II lineup, 'She Is', which was recorded at their last studio session but never released, and 'God Take a Bow', the first time this song had been professionally recorded. The band broke up for the final time when Wilmer decided to move to Montreal in the fall of 2000. It was ensured that there would never be a full reunion of any version when James McAlister passed away on September 5th, 2012, followed by Brian Wilmer on April 6th, 2020. Search Add 2 Rajni Perera Rajni Perera was born in Sri Lanka in 1985 and lives and works in Toronto. She explores issues of hybridity, sacrilege, irreverence, the indexical sciences, ethnography, gender, sexuality, popular culture, deities, monsters and dream worlds. All of these themes marry in a newly objectified realm of mythical symbioses. They are flattened on the medium and made to act as a personal record of impossible discoveries. In her work she seeks to open and reveal the dynamism of these icons, both scripturally existent, self-invented and externally defined. She creates a subversive aesthetic that counteracts antiquated, oppressive discourse, and acts as a restorative force through which people can move outdated, repressive modes of being towards reclaiming their power.
