Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 8 | Slight Lie | Metal band hailing from Prešov, Slovakia is active since 2012. After large amount of line-up changes the only former member and main songwriter remains Demo. Starting as a female-fronted band, the band released its first full-lenght record Last Poem in 2013. Leaning towards modern hard rock sound with focus on melodic vocal lines and catchy choruses the band promoted the album on various gigs around their homeland. The next year brought another significant line-up change, this time behind the microphone. With the new singer Peter the band switched their style to more heavy metal approach with occasional harsh vocals and breakdowns. Search | Add | 8 | Los Angeles Police Band | The Los Angeles Police Concert Band | The LAPD Concert Band (also known as "L.A.'s OWN") was formed in 1914 as the official band of the Los Angeles Police Department and the City of Los Angeles. Originally made up entirely of sworn officers, it played regularly for police recruit graduations, and a wide number of police and civic functions. After WWII, soon-to-become LAPD officer, [a306698], had worked as a commercial pilot. Roddenberry, who is best remembered for creating the original Star Trek television series, had been raised in Los Angeles, where his father had been an LAPD officer. Since a boy, he had also known William H. Parker, who would become Chief of Police. Roddenberry decided his own future should be as a television writer and that the ideal training ground for that career would be the Los Angeles Police Department. The future creator of Star Trek had been particularly impressed with Parker’s openness to new ideas as well as his intellectual curiosity. Years later, these characteristics were to inspire one of his most famous characters, Spock, the half Vulcan, half human, ultra-rational Science Officer of the fictional Starship Enterprise. William Parker died just days before Star Trek premiered, on Sept. 8, 1966. The Watts Riots a year earlier had made him something of a household name. And yet no one — perhaps not even [a278871], the actor chosen to portray Spock — knew that the character's dual nature was [a306698]’s tribute to the late chief. Howard Jarvis, a pugnacious businessman was the principal architect of the infamous Proposition 13, formally called the People’s Initiative to Limit Property Taxation. Jarvis a pillar of bombast became the public face of the referendum — a "prophet of fiscal rectitude" to his admirers. He was unfazed by severe spending reductions that the proposition forced upon many communities and institutions. “The most important thing in this country is not the school system, nor the police department, nor the fire department,” he said. “The right to preserve, the right to have property in this country, the right to have a home in this country — that’s important.” He drew inspiration from another Howard: Beale, the mad newscaster in the 1976 film “Network.” The fictional Beale was immortalized by his signature line: “I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore!” In 1978, driven by the small of stature, yet bigger-than-life Jarvis, California voters overwhelmingly passed Proposition 13, which lowered property taxes for millions of the state’s homeowners. However, its passage reduced tax funding to the LAPD, which meant that active police officers were required to dedicate their duty hours exclusively to enforcement, not as musicians. As a result, the band was dissolved. Shortly after the band dissolved, a group of civic leaders headed by theater owner, Bob Ahmanson, and [a306698], formed an all-volunteer band under the direction of John Campbell. Throughout the 1980s the band expanded into the 75-member ensemble it is today. Many of its members are well-known professional artists who play in local symphonies, big bands, and as studio musicians. We also feature a cadre of experienced amateur musicians, many of whom are retired from professions in the law, medicine, and education. Now under the direction of Maestro Richard Allen, the band is poised to reach out to the communities within the City of Los Angeles and beyond on behalf of the LAPD, having been designated "LA's OWN." |

Search | Add | 8 | Tragic Romance | Formed in late 1987 in Los Angeles, CA., Tragic Romance was a bruising yet soaring powerhouse that rocked both the Sunset Strip and the coolest and darkest underground clubs L.A. had to offer. They were definitely part of the "big-hair"-"sleaze rock"- "Hollywood glam" scene, but it wouldn't always remain that way. Eventually they would take a walk on the darker side of the street and be fully accepted in that realm as well. In the early days of Tragic Romance, you could find the band decked out in leather pants, eye-liner, and big hair.BThey tore up the stages of just about every large and small venue in the Hollywood and L.A. Valley clubs. They would share the stage with the likes of Warrant, Junkyard, Bang Tango, Love/Hate, Vain, Jetboy, L.A. Guns and many others of that ilk. They were fully accepted into the hairband world. However, in the fall of 1989, they meandered over to the darker side of hard rock music and soon won the respect of the underground scene that featured such wicked, wild, and wonderful luminaries like Jane's Addiction, Lions and Ghosts, Human Drama, Motorcycle Boy, The Nymphs, and many more. They felt more at home in this scene where dark sounds and real poetry for lyrics were the norm, instead of the overdone, overblown, anything for a good time theme that was smothering the Strip. By mid 1990, they had become critical favorites and a rare crossover of both the Strip and the Underground. They were getting the well-deserved respect that comes to a band so serious about their craft. On any given night you might find standing amongst their regular throng of fans - some of Hollywood's A-listers such as Dave Navarro, James Hetfield, and Lenny Kravitz. In mid '93 they signed with the metal label Century Media who released the intense and soaring live CD entitled "Cancel the Future" which garnered great critical praise, and some college airplay. In the music business, its easy come and easy go, and as has happened to many-a-other band, TR was left to wither due to lack of record company support. It turned out the band wasn't heavy enough for their hardcore fan-base and they shelved the project altogether. Members: Billy Brooke - Lead Vocals Britt Wilson - Lead Guitar Phil Gibson - Bass Steph Takos - Drums Mark Vernon - Drums
Search | Add | 8 | Michael Weisshaupt | Michael Weisshaupt, the former Singer and Guitarist of an Indie-Folk-Band from Stuttgart, has been pursuing his solo career since 2002. His music can most likely be labelled “Contemporary Indie Folk” as the songs contain current stylistic elements, but also traditional melodies and instrumentation. To this extent the result is both a time-less and contemporary mixture of different styles. The lyrics, which are of no less sig-nificance to the songs, emerge in both German and English. What started off as a relaxing project without great ambitions and with a pleasure for music, has turned out to be an exciting story. While the desire to experiment with samples, loops and various guitar sounds was the greater focus on the first album “Disconnect” and therefor providing the record with a – for the singer/songwriter - unusual, more experimental sound which seems to make the songs stand out. The sec-ond album “Schön ist es” had a surprising effect with its more homogeneous song collection and production. Precise guitar lines and arrangements, concise voices and reduced drums, shape this record, being stylistically categorised somewhere between Folk and Indie. The album “Sag mir wohin”, which was released in 2010, was the most complete album up to that point. “Stadt ohne Himmel” or “Sag mir wohin” are quite simply successful songs with recognition value. “Out of Season” was released in 2012 as a “concept al-bum” being structured around a beautiful string arrangement. Therefore not only are there only pure string passages in each of the ten songs, they more or less cover the keyboard features. The strings, featured in “Out of Season” shape the core of each in-dividual piece, surrounded by the other instruments. Therefore the songs sound more diverse and the wonderful melodies are presented with astonishing depth and warmth. In 2015 the fifth record “Auf Sicht” followed. Another piece closer the roots: Hand-made singer/songwriter music with a vintage vibe, meaning it contains many interest-ing retro instruments and the matching songs. Sometimes forceful, rhythmic (“Melan-choly”), sometimes firm-snappy (“Die leeren Tage) or just reduced to the basics (“Time to go”). A lot of experience and things from the last years have influenced this beauti-ful, mature record which seems notably calm and relaxed despite the high-end pro-duction. Therefore it maybe marks the end- or starting point –depending on how one looks at it- of a musical development which began ten years ago. In 2018 Michael Weisshaupt released his sixth album to date, „Random Karma“. What immediately stands out in “Random Karma” in comparison to the previous albums is the significantly reduced use of acoustic guitars. They had to make room to distorted vintage crunch guitars of various colours and find themselves only in the song "Rain-maker". With the dominate electric guitars, the sound accordingly it is much more straight and rougher than in the previous albums. Also noteworthy, and a novelty in the discography of Michael Weisshaupt, is the fact that all the lyrics on "Random Kar-ma" are in English. While the previous albums offered a more or less varied lyrical mix of German and English lyrics (the first two records even contain two songs in French), there is a deliberate reduction and limitation also in linguistic terms on this album. In combination with the likewise reduced instrumentation (mainly guitars, drums, bass and vocals), a highly compact and dense listening experience is created, that can be heard both quietly and loud turned up.

Search | Add | 8 | Art P | Art P (short for the project name Art Programming) is a group consisting of the electronic musicians [a=Jens-Markus Wegener] and [a=Frank Grotelüschen]. The two artists (both originally from Bremen, Germany), initially met in early 1982 due to a small add in a local newspaper when Grotelüschen was selling his Roland 101 synthesizer. Wegener became the new owner of the machine, the two kept in touch and soon became friends. After Grotelüschen was borrowing his TR 808 drum machine as well as his Jupiter 4 synth to Wegener for six weeks when he was on holiday they decided to work together. During those weeks Wegener composed about 6 to 7 tunes that convinced his newly found partner and Art Programming was born. From then on they combined forces and released music on various projects. On their first album, the self titled “Art Programming” (1983), they used instruments like the Korg Mono/Poly which they mainly used for their bass sounds, a Roland TB-303 as well as a Fricke Sequencer. Their first album still featured guest musicians Norbert Pautner and vocalist Claudia Roebke, who they also performed live with. Later, newer synths like the Yamaha DX-9 came into play. Their second album, now under the shortened name Art P, was produced more professionally. This time, the featured vocals were recorded at Dub City Studio in Bremen. Both albums were released on Wegener’s [l=P.A.P.] (Programming Art Productions) label on cassette only. It was until 1989 when Art P made an appearance on vinyl and CD with the track “Terminal Zeit” on the compilation U.S.S. Dancefloor. This electro tune with dark industrial and EBM leanings was the last track by the band. It was co-produced by Michael Vitzthum and had a more international and professional appeal. Wegener, who once was called “grand father of Bremen’s electronic scene” (see tape compilation “Berlincassette 2-85”), later became a key figure in the German music market as a founder of companies such as [l=Public Propaganda], Europe’s largest and most successful promotion agency in the mid ‘90s, the publishing company [l=AMV], the distributor [l=PP Sales Forces], among others. As a freelance promoter for [l=SPV] and the [l=PIAS] label he was also responsible for establishing the term Electronic Body Music as a musical genre. Grotelüschen was active as a music journalist (e.g. for Spex magazine) and later became an important and well known journalist for science.

His style can be hard to pin down, incorporating elements of classic and southern rock, country, blues, and folk, proving Kidd to be an eclectic mix as singer/songwriter and acclaimed guitar player. Anyone who remembers his past two releases, MidAmerica and Anytown USA, knows that his sound is hard to corner. A rocker at heart with distinctive country influences, Kidd incorporates it all into his songs. Touches of classic rock, ‘80s guitar rock, and traditional country all come together in his songwriting. If anything, Kidd’s songs might best be described as sounding like summer in Oklahoma, and the new songs follow suit with 2021 release, East of the Rockies. Search | Add | 8 | Rafael Da Cruz | Rafael Da Cruz | Rafael Da Cruz is a DJ and producer whose work embraces atmospheric techno and deep, wide soundscapes with a sleek sense for the contemporary Zeitgeist. He is a resident DJ at Cologne's renowned Gewölbe Club since 2012. He has toured across Europe, South America and Asia. Following his first record in 2014, he has released several EP's, as well as radio mixes for the likes of well-known series like Ibiza Sonica, Moodmusic Radioshow, Underground Tel Aviv and others. Born in a rural area in the north of Portugal, Rafael Da Cruz grew up as a ‘90s kid near Cologne in Germany and has been dedicated to music ever since he was a teenager. He began working in music journalism as soon as he left school, then went on to make a name for himself as a DJ and producer. Hosting parties and his “Right To Love” night soon led to a residency at Gewölbe, where he has invited national and international friends to play ever since. An emblematic night might see him open with a gentle set, whose sound is incorporated in an organic base, before coming back to close the night with straight-up elements, rounded off with a sweeter vibe to the end. His 2014 release “Renaissance” on the legendary Bavarian imprint Compost Records was followed by “Rex” in 2015, which included an outstanding remix from André Lodemann. The next few years saw him extend his discography with labels including Moodmusic, ISOLATE, and Berlin-based DUATRECORDS. Recent tracks “Bes” and “Saqqara” are pared-down and nuanced, witnessing to the same deep reflection and careful attention to the sonic journey that he brings to his sets. Accustomed to the vibrant international club scene, Rafael Da Cruz has been using the lockdown to carve out more time for production and composing with different musicians, and for his latest collaborative project, “Ona Sonora” - a series of holistic travel experiences across Europe and North Africa combining electronic music, nature, and rituals. He is currently based in Berlin. |

Search | Add | 8 | Mohammad Eghbal | Multi-instrumentalist and has intensively intertwined with the various instruments, especially with the VIOLINE, over the course of his life. But his most important means of expression is the VOICE, with which he improvises some mystical texts (Rumi, Baba Taher, Omar Khayyam), in which case he accompanies himself on the almond-shaped oriental OUD or on the three-sided CETAR. He is also masters the Persian NEY (pipe flute), a wind instrument that produces sound in the mouth through carefully controlled exhalation. This requires a special breathing technique. It takes at least 10 years of intensive study to master this instrument. Mohammad builds his neys himself to find out the best sound quality. The Ney is preserved in both the classical and the popular, but above all in the esoteric tradition of the Orient and directly appeals to the human soul with its varied, soft and rough tones. All pieces are Mohammad's own compositions, but are reinterpreted at each concert, leaving the musician with enough space for free improvisation. In this way, the pieces always become a unique performance. Mohammad / AHURA plays in various compositions on stage. As a solo artist, with his wife, who accompanies him on the Celtic harp, or / and with percussion accompaniment (frame drums and Persian dombak) and solo singing. He also seeks dialogue with instruments and musicians from other cultures and has been working for several years with a 5 to 6-piece ensemble, integrating sound elements from other cultures into his music.

Search | Add | 8 | Rosalie James | Singer, songwriter, miserabilist. Rosalie was born in Cornwall, in the far South West of the UK. She had a musical upbringing; her childhood memories are of climbing trees and reading books with an eclectic soundtrack on a bright yellow Sony Walkman including The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, The Monkees, Steely Dan, The Bangles, Pink Floyd, Elton John, Kate Bush and David Bowie. Rosalie’s father, always a working roadie and musician, toured the US with The Grateful Dead and other bands during the 1970s, creating the belief that life as a musician was always only a small step away. She started learning the piano at 5 and the guitar at 14 and sang to anyone who would listen. Rosalie started out creating song and dance routines to Madonna and Michael Jackson, then grew out of that and spent hours moodily playing guitar along with The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Nirvana, U2, The Lemonheads and REM. Rosalie’s teenage years were spent obsessing over Suede, Blur, Elastica, Sleeper, Pulp, The Divine Comedy and The Longpigs, although she never realised her dream of fronting an indie band or of marrying Evan Dando. She continues to love both the earnest and emotional synthpop and the edgier new wave of the 1980s (Roxy Music, Cocteau Twins, Sparks). In the early 2000s Rosalie began writing and recording in ambient/down-tempo electronica duo Delaware with guitarist and producer Benjamin Morgan, influenced by Zero 7 and Air. Although Delaware played very few gigs, one song ‘I Can Get Out’ was used in US series The Black Donnellys, sparking a life-long ambition to get a song on Grey’s Anatomy. Rosalie has since performed in various bands, building her confidence as a songwriter, pianist and backing singer. She formed pop-folk band All the Fires in 2008 and performed as lead singer in Cornwall and around the UK to a steadily growing and loyal fan base. All the Fires released their debut album ‘Territories’ in 2012 to popular acclaim but the band ended in early 2013 – a subject Rosalie will talk about at length if required to but would much rather leave to your imagination. Rosalie’s work is an unusual mixture of melancholy and mischievousness. Her voice and songs can be heart-breaking, but coupled with a wry, sardonic humour and a propensity for candid on-stage and lyrical revelations about her own mental health (which she self-describes as “a fun combination of autistic traits and EUPD”), religion, heartbreak, television and substance abuse it makes for an interesting show. Rosalie makes no apology for including her own versions of popular hits by Kate Bush, Radiohead, Billy Bragg, The Cure, The Eagles, Nine Inch Nails and many others in her set. These sit comfortably alongside Rosalie’s own compositions, in which the influence of the classic songwriting of the 70s, the 80s’ emotional depth and 90s’ hooky indie melodies can be clearly felt. Rosalie says that she has repeatedly tried to give up music but that it just won’t seem to go away. She is now recording her debut album, which predicts a move towards the atmospheric LA indie/dreampop sound (think Phoebe Bridgers, Cigarettes After Sex, Sharon Van Etten, Lucy Dacus). Her joy in writing and performing both her own and others’ songs is evident and what is guaranteed is that in every performance and every recording, Rosalie gives you a little piece of her accidentally massive heart.
