Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024

Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 16 Simon Jargy Simon Jargy (1919, Mardin - 2001) was an oriental ethnomusicologist. In May 1950, at the occasion of the International Conference on Sacred Music held in Rome, he gave a conference on “Syrian Liturgical Music” whose text was published in a Pontifical journal. He started studies at the Jerusalem Benedictine Institute and resumed them at the Syriac-Catholic seminary of Charfet (Lebanon). Enrolled at the Catholic University of Paris, he defended a thesis on Syrian Monarchism from the origins to the Arab conquest at the École Pratique des Hautes Études in 1951. Redirecting his research towards studying sung popular poetry, he undertook for the CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique/National Centre for Scientific Research) in 1954-55 then in 1958, a number of collecting missions in Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq. Which led him to writing an article in the Orient magazine (1958) and a book “La poésie populaire traditionnelle chantée au Proche-Orient arabe” (Sung Traditional Popular Poetry in the Arab Near-East) (Mouton, 1970) demonstrating his full mastery of the local dialects through his translation of the vernacular texts. But the “Musique libanaise” (Lebanese Music) and “Musique syrienne” (Syrian Music) entries he wrote for the “Encyclopédie de la musique” (Encyclopaedia of Music) (Fasquelle, 1958), limited to the examination of his speciality subject area, i.e. oriental Christianism, are simplistic texts in many respects. In 1964, he was appointed Professor of Islamology and Arab Studies at the university of Geneva. He organized in this city in 1970 the first European concert of future lute star Iraqi Mounir Bashir. The concert was recorded by Emi-Pathé, and Jargy wrote the accompanying text. Later in 1971, he wrote the presentation text of Mounir Bashir’s best recording edited by OCORA (Radio France). He also published the very successful “La musique arabe” (Arab Music) in the «Que sais-je?» series: 23 000 copies, added to an Arabic translation (Jounieh, Lebanon), a record for a work of this kind. Late in life, he redirected his focus towards the Arabian Peninsula that he visited on a regular basis. He published with Zakariyyā al–Ansārī the “Musical Anthology of the Arabian Peninsula” (4 CDs, Geneva, 1994) whose pieces were for the most part recorded by him. In parallel, he published with Hachette books of more general reach on the region: the first ones “Émirats arabes du Golfe” (Arab Emirates of the Gulf) (1976), Yémen (1978), and Koweit (1980) were co-written with Alain Saint Hilaire. His other writings include: Syrie (Syria) (Lausanne 1962), “Guerre et paix en Palestine” (War and Peace in Palestine) (Neuchâtel 1968), “Islam et chrétienté” (Islam and Christianity) (Genève et Paris 1981), that add nothing to his reputation. Out of his whole production, he mostly distinguished himself in ethnomusicology.

Search Add 16 Tony Goodacre Tony Goodacre was born in Leeds, England, in 1938, he died in 2022.. He took up the guitar in his teens, originally studying classical and Spanish guitar technique, but he was drawn toward folk and country music instead, initially through the music of Burl Ives. The skiffle boom hit while he was serving in the Royal Air Force, and Goodacre formed his own skiffle band, the Tigers. They were getting enough bookings to make the future look promising, and Goodacre started getting approached as a solo artist. He was suddenly sidetracked into a new field when he was booked into the Cavendish Hotel in Felixstowe during September of 1956, to play a night of country & western music -- he was forced to adjust his repertory on the spot, and the audience response was enthusiastic. The group continued to do skiffle music, but Goodacre slowly found himself drawn to country music, and was able to borrow American records from U.S. servicemen that he met who were stationed in England. By the time he left the service, he had plunged into the music, all while holding down a day job -- beginning as a solo guitarist/singer in 1960, by 1964 he'd formed a duo with Arthur Layfield, and three years later had a full band, Goodacre Country. They were at the core of a country music boom in England, and in 1973 Goodacre won the Record Mirror Award as the Top Solo Country Act in England. He also made his first appearance in Nashville that year, appearing with George Hamilton IV on the Arthur Smith television show. His first album, Roaming Around Nashville, was recorded and released on the Outlet Records label in 1974, and he cut follow-up albums for the same label over the next five years. He made his first appearance at the Grand Ole Opry in 1977, which was followed by an appearance on the Ernest Tubb Midnight Jamboree. He was getting regular bookings in America during the late '70s and his career was focused far beyond England, encompassing the United States, Canada, Australia and the Pacific Rim, and the European continent. In the early '80s, he formed his own label as an outlet for other artists. He occupied a unique niche in country music, winning popularity awards in Holland and other European countries. He later narrated memorial shows devoted to Jim Reeves, and at the start of the 21st century -- opening his fifth decade in music -- was more active than ever. Country music may have had its origins in America (with some lesser but significant contributions from Canada), but it has successfully taken root around the world -- that's how England comes to have a performer who can claim the designation of "Britain's Mr. Country Music."

Search Add 16 Vox Archangeli Vox Archangeli Swedish group that combines original Gregorian chants from early medieval times with modern electronic sounds. The inspiration comes from a wide range of musical influences, from classical and folk music, through to pop and rock. In recent years Vox Archangeli have gained attention both internationally and in their native Sweden. Besides having had all their three full length releases placed in the official Swedish album charts, they have performed several times on Swedish television, at numerous festivals as well as prestigious awards shows. Vox Archangeli’s big Sanctus project is based upon the four archangels: Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel – each holding the theme for one full length album. In the musical fusion between Gregorian chanting and electronic soundscapes, the group manages to capture the qualities that characterize the four archangels, and the music is – both lyrically and musically – imbued with the healing power of the archangels. His name appears on other Reading and Philadelphia-area releases as late as the early 1980s. McKinnon's name appears in Record World directories published in the 1960s and 1970s, listed as a Record Manufacturer, Tape Manufacturer and Duplicator, Distributor, (McKinnon Record Dist. Co.) Rack Jobber ( McKinnon Record's Dist.), One Stop (United, Dept 1-A) and Personal Manager (Hit Artist's Management, Performing Artist's Representation). These businesses also share the 411 Gordon St. address, and share a phone number with a (215) area code. A PO Box in area code 19601 is sometimes given. Similar listings and attributions are found in the July 8, 1967 issue of Cashbox. In the August 31, 1968, Section 2 issue of Billboard, under the entry for Slide, Beulah F. Coad is listed as the label's General Manager. A "Coad" was a co-writer of the songs found on the release [r15763214] In the September 22, 1973 issue of Billboard Buyer's Guide, McKinnon is listed as the owner of the following labels: McKinnon, Center City, Hit Kingdom, Holy Cross, Margie, Movieland, Reading, Slide, Tammy, Alabam, Manna, Backstage, Bluegrassive, Cypress Garden, Emarage, Johnny Reb., Middletown, Ohiophone, Orange Grove, Otisville, Super Soul Shonograms, Surface, Topside, Tridelta, and Virginian. A publishing company, [l=Slide Music Pub. Co.] (ASCAP), is listed as well, along with a host of affiliates. McKinnon is listed in the July 7, 1979 issue of Billboard as the owner of McKinnon Pictures/Rec Co. The label manager is listed as Phyllis Gray. The most extensive mentions of McKinnon can be found online in the blog posts of an unknown man from New Jersey (possibly Mark Wayne Mohr), who writes in rambling style across several Wordpress/Blogger blogs including Morianity Foundation, Mountainpen, The Epitome of Harassment, RATS, TATS, & PLAYING REAL FOOTBALL, To Whom It May Concern From The Head Morian, Morianity Bible For Millenium Three, etc. While the veracity and lucidity of these posts is questionable, the blogger may have been a contemporary of McKinnon and a recording artist/musician in the Berks County/Philadelphia/New Jersey area. These posts portray McKinnon in a negative light. Two blog links with search results for "McKinnon" are included in the Sites section.

One month later, with comrades marching four abreast, they marched through Marble Arch to hold the first Salvation Army meeting in Hyde Park. The story of the band is one of both people and place. The years have been rich in the number of real characters who have formed the band and moulded its progress, inspired by their experience of God at work in their lives. Behind it all has been the location of the Corps at the heart of the West End - General William Booth's inspired vision when he turned the former roller skating rink into God's house.

Search Add 16 Letargy Letargy was formed in Tashkent in 2003 y. From 2003 to 2008 were some concerts in Tashkent. Now it is one-man band. Letargy play music such genre like Ambient, Instrumental. Musical project «Letargy» was born in 2003, after the collapse of black-metall band "Anubis". Initially «Letargy» conceived as an acoustic guitar ambient, who for four years was created in my mind, and only in 2007, it has turned into a finished demo album. At this point, have accumulated a lot of different stuff, but I did not want to change the concept of «Letargy» and I decided to separate all the things that did not fall, in my opinion at this canvas in the new project «Letargy Terror». One can say that all the good melodic and upbeat hit the «Letargy», and all the melancholy, gloom and depression in «Letargy Terror». In 2006-2007, organized and carried out a series of concerts. I took an active part in the creation and implementation of industrial music festival "Seriy Svod 2", and I also participated in several joint appearances with groups of "Nevod" and «Maxluq». Each performance was followed by an installation that we prepare ourselves. Installations for my work, I was preparing my own footage of the material. Thus, the idea of creating the video for ready-made tracks, which was implemented and resulted in the creation of video clips.

In 1904, Karinskaya made her debut in operetta in the troupe of V. A. Kazansky. Severe rheumatism prevented her from performing in the opera. Instead, she became known as a singer of romances, praised for her strong mezzo-soprano voice that came almost close to a contralto. During the war, she performed "Evenings of Russian Antiquity," singing Russian folk songs in traditional Russian costume and raising huge sums for the treatment of wounded soldiers. After the October Revolution 1917, however, her wealth was seized and she, her son and her daughter fled to Harbin, China, where she converted to Protestantism and became a missionary. In 1924, she made her way to the United States via Canada. Later, she and her daughter lived on a farm in Canada.

Marjoe was preaching from the time when he was just a child, around the age of four. By 1951, his younger brother Vernoe was brought into the act. By the time Gortner was 16, his family had made three million dollars profit from the preaching. Not long after that his father ran off with the money. As a young man he did the rounds on the revival circuit and gained celebrity status. In 1972, he starred in the film "Marjoe" which showed what went on behind the scenes. The film which won the 1972 Academy Award for Best Documentary Film is now regarded as one of the most forward criticisms of Pentecostal preaching. (Saladillo being a district of Maracaibo) "Los Gaiteros del Pueblo" was also sometimes added to the name of the band. Later, in 1971, Ramón Quintero registered the name "Conjunto Saladillo" on his own and created a spin-off with some musicians, known as [b][a4950192][/b]: this is a different group to the original, but they issued some LPs with the same name "Conjunto Saladillo". And at the same time, the rest of the initial band remained as El Conjunto Saladillo de Nerio Matheus or, later as "El Auténtico Saladillo". What makes it sometimes difficult to precisely credit the band. And today, 9 different gaita band exist with "Saladillo" in their name! A book dedicated to the band was even issued in 2015.

He is eldest son of the Italian DJ Mr. Robert, he grew up frequenting many clubs, watching his father put the disks on the console. He immediately became passionate about disco music and independently learned to mix at home using with a pair of Technics 1210 MK2 and his father’s numerous vinyl records, with the intention of creating a personal mixing technique and without too many influences. At the age of 12 he puts records for the first time in front of an audience: it was the end of year party of the middle school he attended. From there, he begins a long journey as a DJ alongside his father in the family club. A few years later he approached music production and, with the help of his father, he designs a small home studio where he starts studying sound, experimenting with synths up to the production of some dance remixes, however never released. In 2009 he came into contact with Paolo Aliberti, who managed Supersonik Records, the label with which he released his rst single entitled Cricket Night, followed by other musical projects. Between 2012 and 2018 he mainly devoted himself to DJing, putting records on private parties but also in various places in Rome and its province. In 2019 he founded his own label, Technopathy, but in parallel he decided to send demos around, getting in touch with numerous artists and record producers. In 2020 “Insomnia” comes out and thus becomes part of the Beenoise Records team.

Search Add 15 Thor Raymond Thor Raymond Zetterstrøm Thor Raymond Zetterstrøm, born in Stavanger 1919, died in 1982. Used the artist Thor Raymond. Norway's first cowboy singer, fully completed in 1952, had its greatest commercial success with the song "A letter with three loving words" along with Åse Wentzel; The song sold in 67,000 copies. A tendonitis in the left arm of the early 1960s put an end to the career. Thor Raymond went before the Second World War in the photo arch of the uncle who had a photo shop in Kongsgata in Stavanger. As a musician, Thor Raymond was autodidact (self-taught). He even comforted himself by singing simple shows with simple melodies. Thor Raymond started his musical runway as soloist and dance musician along with comrade Rasmus Dahl. He was also guest artist of the reviews that the two cousins Gilbert and Odd Kjell Helgeland set up in Haugesund, in 1947 and 1948. Thor Raymond's real breakthrough came in 1952. He dressed as a cowboy and launched his own songs "A Cheerful Cowboy Song" and "Yippi Ai". In a short period of time, 10,000 plates were sold. Then the songs came on track: "Old Black", "Buldrende Buffalo", "Banjo Bill from Arizona", "Cowboydansen," The lonely cowboy "," Cowboy farewell "and" Red River Valley ". In 1954 he heard the song "Vaya Con Dios" when he listened to Hit Parade on the AFN American Forces Network. Thor wrote Norwegian text and went to studio in Oslo together with Åse Wentzel. The Stavanger artist became Norway's most sought-after gramophone butterfly in a short period of time, and "Vaya Con Dios" is still such a tremendous melody, over fifty years later. The song was the start of a successful collaboration for the duo. In 1955, "A letter with three loving words" came, as with its 67,000 copies sold, became Thor Raymond's biggest commercial success. The melody was followed by several plots of land: "Today I've burned my love letters," "A little apartment", "In a small cafe", "My secret honeymoon," "I love your smile", "Loving, loving thoughts" "Midnight roll", "It's going to be very little" and "Send a greeting home". Several of the melodies were a permanent guest in the NRK Wish Concert for years. At this time Raymond and Wentzel competed with other famous artists such as Alf Prøysen, Kurt Foss and Reidar Bøe, The Monn Keys, Sisters Bjørklund and Jens Book-Jenssen. The 1950s was Thor Raymond's great decade as a record artist, but in the early 1960s his career ended when he received a tendonitis in the left arm. He then took up the thread as a photo consultant and traveled around the country to advise people on restoration and coloring of old photographs. During this time he lived in Oslo, and later moved to a small farm on Toten. After 15 years at Toten, he moved to Jelsa in Ryfylke where his son lived with family. Later he settled down on Sola and Klepp. In 1970 he participated in a radio show in Atlantic Hall, "Back to the 50's". With "Old Black" he finished the artist career with the last big stage show, with the same old voice, and the same simple guitar chords.

The band had its origins in 2003 when singer John Vento began a studio recording project that he titled “Nied’s Hotel” as a tribute to Jim Nied, proprietor of the landmark Pittsburgh tavern of the same name, which also was the source of inspiration for many of the songs. Vento, along with noted musician/producer Buddy Hall, began the process of bringing these new songs to life, coaxing amazing performances from an all-star roster of Pittsburgh musicians – Reb Beach, Kenny Blake, Pete Hewlett, B.E. Taylor, Norman Nardini, Tom Bellin, Joe Munroe, Scott Anderson and Jim Britton. But no one had more impact than John’s primary session drummer, Ron Beitle. As the original drummer for Wild Cherry (“Play That Funky Music”), Ron brought his considerable drumming talents and gold record experience to the “Nied’s Hotel” project, released on CD in 2004.The next release, 2007′s “The Way That You Roll,” was again recorded with session players, but Vento, along with drummer Beitle, decided it was time to start performing this material at live shows. The new release was credited to “John Vento and The Nied’s Hotel Band,” but the live band line-up changed frequently while John and Ron searched for the right chemistry between players. Along the way, some fine musicians became NHB alums, but none more important than singer/songwriter/guitarist Stephen Christopher, who left his mark by penning the songs “600 Under” and “Need A Lover,” which are still mainstays of the NHB live show. Then, in early 2009, Beitle recruited his life-long friend, Russ Oblinger (bass) to join the band. Russ had just returned to Pittsburgh after a long and successful career as one of Detroit’s best session players. With these two guys in place, NHB now had a tight and accomplished rhythm section. The band began to fine-tune their sound and develop more original material. Within a year or so, Tim Hadley, Fred Delu, Ed Jonnet, and Jim McCullough had all joined the band. With a consistent lineup and a killer new sound, the band went to work writing and arranging new original songs and creating a live show that reflected the band’s powerful personality. By May of 2011, NHB was ready to make a real rock-n-roll album. No more session players, just a well-rehearsed band entering the studio to play and record as one. Basic tracks were recorded live at Vento’s Corbriwood Studios in West Deer, PA, followed by post-production and mixing at Buddy Hall’s Beacon Hill Studio. The results were released in 2012 as an EP called “Side One”. Although pleased with the results, the band, having grown leaps and bounds as a performing, arranging and writing unit since their inception, wanted to try something a little different. The band enlisted Klint Macro, who had just moved back to the area after a successful career in the Los Angeles studio scene, to be their new engineer/producer. The band recorded all of their new material at Klint’s Cobblesound Recording Co., as well as re-arranging and re-mixing the “Side One” material. The finished full-length CD, “One Night Stand”, was released in July of 2014. Unfortunately, upon its completion, drummer Ron Beitle and bassist Russ Oblinger decided to leave the band for personal reasons, with Bob Fetherlin and Frank DeCarolis, both accomplished players in their own right, stepping in to fill the void. Like any great rock-n-roll band, NHB prides itself on delivering high-energy, entertaining, live shows. The band has made a major investment in its live production sound and lights, and is blessed to have one of the finest and most professional crews around.

Other labels he has created or was involved in includes [l87343]/[l718725], [l486213], and several publishing companies. Neal Hemphill (born 1930 in Mobile, died 1985 in Birmingham) was a plumber and record producer who operated the a recording studio from the basement of his Midfield plumbing shop between 1966 and 1985. Hemphill recorded tracks for numerous musicians and songwriters that went on to greater acclaim, releasing many of them on his own Sound of Birmingham, Hemphill, Black Kat and Crown LTD labels. The studio's biggest hit was Frederick Knight's 1972 R&B ballad "I've Been Lonely for So Long", which was licensed to Stax Records. Hemphill was born in Mobile and had tried singing professionally with the gospel group "The Commander's Quarter". In the 1960s he moved his family to Birmingham and opened a plumbing business. In 1966 he opened up a private recording studio, which he named the Sound of Birmingham, in the basement of his plumbing shop. He experimented constantly with recording equipment and techniques and, over time, developed a characteristic sound for the studio that emphasized creativity and experimentation. That sound, as well as Hemphill's liberal philosophy on paying for sessions, attracted a number of young artists. In 1976 Hemphill suffered a heart attack and had to sell his recently-completed larger studio. Don Moseley purchased the equipment, including a 16-track mixing board Hemphill had bought from Jimi Hendrix's Electric Ladyland studio, and moved Sound of Birmingham downtown. In the 1980's Hemphill returned to recording, opening Hemphill Studios in his old studio space next to the plumbing shop. He died in 1985. His son, Neal Hemphill, Jr still runs the plumbing business. The output of the studio has been licensed to Chicago DJ and promoter John Ciba, who is releasing a CD compilation of classic Sound of Birmingham tracks called "The Birmingham Sound: The Soul of Neal Hemphill".

Member of the WSB Barn Dance and WWVA Original Jamboree. "The King of the Hillbillies" Considering the quality of Pete Cassell’s music, he could have been among the top names in country music had not certain circumstances conspired against him. As it was, he was an extremely popular radio artist, with an impressive reputation at WSB Atlanta and WWVA Wheeling from the late 1930s to the late 40s. Blind since infancy, he died at the early age of 37, leaving a small but powerful group of recordings that he made for Decca, Mercury, and the Majestic labels. His vocal style—which influenced several other country artists including Eddy Arnold—could be described as achingly soulful, but that doesn’t do full justice to a man who definitely had a way with a poignant song.
