Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025

Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 4 Ponychase In the beginning, Ponychase was the pseudonym under which [a=Jordan Caress] recorded a series of home demos. These demos didn’t quite fit into what had come to be associated with her name and she wondered if she could even find like-minded musicians in Nashville to help her bring this dreamy, earnest synth pop to life. She serendipitously met [a=Beth Cameron], formerly of the Nashville band [a=Forget Cassettes]. After an exchange of demos and favorite records, Cameron was on board. Jordan enlisted her brother [a=Alex Caress], to play synths, and electronic drummer [a=Brian Siskind], thus creating a foursome bound.

Search Add 4 Jamie Shew “Forgive me if I don’t have the words. Maybe I can sing it and you’ll understand.” -Ella Fitzgerald Whether on stage or in the classroom, these are words that vocalist Jamie Shew seeks to achieve – to be able to project personal emotions and experiences through song. Jamie grew up in the Tri-Cities, a group of towns located in south central Washington State. She began her musical training at the age of four, when she was first introduced to the piano. The desire to sing was very strong for Jamie throughout her childhood; however, she was always needed as an accompanist. It was during her senior year in high school that her choir director gave her the opportunity to sing a Karen Carpenter solo. This was a pivotal moment – she was hooked. Jamie earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Washington State University and a Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance/Jazz Studies at Western Michigan University. As a graduate assistant at WMU, she had the opportunity to study privately with one of her favorite jazz vocalists, Sunny Wilkinson, and perform and record with the renowned vocal jazz ensemble, Gold Company. As a jazz vocalist, Jamie continues to enjoy a dynamic performance career among many internationally recognized jazz musicians such as Larry Koonse, Darek Oles, Royce Campbell, Chuck Manning, Bruce Babad, Jeremy Siskind, Kendall Kay, Mike Scott, Matt Politano, Danny Janklow, Dave Robaire, Will Brahm, Joe Bagg, Steve Cotter, Jason Harnell, Dan Schnelle, and Josh Nelson. In her newest CD project, Eyes Wide Open, released May 2018, Jamie uses song to tell the story of her 20-year relationship with her husband, bass player Roger Shew, and the loss she experienced when he succumbed to cancer. The music follows the arc of her life from the early days of their relationship through Roger's illness and beyond. Jamie's extensive musical training informs her singing. Her timbre is warm and inviting, while her timing, phrasing, and ability to interact so well with the band reflects her years of study. Of course, it doesn't hurt that she's playing with some of the finest musicians in Southern California including guitarist Larry Koonse, pianist and Hammond B3 player Joe Bagg, bass player Darek Oles, and drummer Jason Harnell, who are all leaders in their own right. Jamie chose songs she had considered recording in the past, but now they took on new meanings for her. She wrote two original compositions and selected and arranged the rest with a lot of deliberation. Each song became a metaphor for her journey. Eyes Wide Open is a project imbued with love and loss but eschews mere sentimentality. Jamie doesn't just perform moving interpretations of these songs, she opens her heart and exposes the genuine, raw feelings that have propelled her to make this CD. Her innate musicality is showcased in her phrasing and tone, but it's how she reveals the depth of the human condition that sets this project apart. In addition to a rich performance career, Jamie is Coordinator of Vocal Jazz Studies at Fullerton College in Fullerton, California, where she teaches private jazz voice lessons, two levels of Vocal Jazz Styling and Improvisation courses, Music Theory, History of Rock and Roll, directs two groups in the award-winning vocal jazz ensemble program, and is the vocalist for the Faculty Jazz Cadre high school educational outreach program. She is also an in-demand adjudicator and clinician for jazz festivals throughout the country and internationally, has served as the past Vocal Jazz Chair of the Southern California Vocal Association, and has directed the California All-State Vocal Jazz Ensemble.

Search Add 4 Сини Степів Montreal's Syny Stepiv (Sons of the Steppes) are remembered today as pioneers of Ukrainian zabava music. Though Rushnychok broke onto the scene first, Syny Stepiv were a close second behind them, and many people considered the "Syny" a much more musically accomplished ensemble - in fact, possibly more accomplished than most all other zabava bands at the time! After their first few shows, it didn't take long for Syny Stepiv to gain acclaim as their audiences began admiring their musical talents and abilities, and also falling in love with their multi-harmony vocal style. The members of the group had each developed and honed these talents while previously playing and singing with various other ensembles - in many different genres of music: folk, rock, jazz and traditional ethnic. They each brought these talents and backgrounds to Syny Stepiv and, as a group, blended them to create a fresh and inspiring sound. As accomplished musicians, each member of Syny Stepiv was competent at a number of different musical instruments. In fact, the guys would regularly join other zabava and concert bands on stage as special guests or fill-in musicians. At the height of their popularity, Syny Stepiv would play an exhausting number of shows each year. In 1976 alone, they played functions in New York, Newark, Yonkers, Passaic, Parma, Rochester, Detroit, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Chicago, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Hamilton, and Saskatoon! During their time together, Syny Stepiv released three albums that stand today as classics in the collective Ukrainian-Canadian music oeuvre. So esteemed were the band, that Ukrainian lyricists and songwriters would often submit musical works to the quartet with the chance hope that their songs could end up in Syny Stepiv's live or recorded repertoire! The members of Syny Stepiv: Adrian Alboshchy - Rhythm Guitar (v.II, & v.III) Taras Didus - Accordion Jaroslaw Gudzio - Rhythm & Lead Guitar (v.I, & v.III) Tino Papa - Drums Jaroslaw Workewych - Lead Guitar (v.I, & v.II) (Adrian Alboshchy & Tino Papa would later go on to play in Chornomortsi and Vechirnyy Dzvin.)

Search Add 4 Vasectomy Leftovers Nekro-Feelia Originally formed in 1989 under the name Nekro-Feelia by Josh McCurdy + Dan Seida while the two attending jr. high school in Southern California. Early musical influences ranged from "Enslavement"-era Napalm Death to Crass' "Best Before", to pre-"Black album" Metallica + Discharge. Lyrical examples of the time were primarily focused on impossible absurdist scatological satire, with later examples being much more heavily focused on vagueness + emotions. 1991 saw the duo complete a C-60 cassette on McCurdy's label Hot Damn! Tapes, called "Sex, Drugs, Murder... Art!!", and limited to an agonizing 5 copies. All tracks were recorded live on a ghetto blaster at the home of McCurdy's Grandparents. In 1993, the duo returned with the "Choking On Dental Dams" cassette, which was again recorded live on a ghetto blaster at the home of McCurdy's Grandparents, and released by Hot Damn! Tapes, and limited to around 5 copies. As for instruments, the duo did not use acoustic drums on their first 2 albums. But rather, they recorded all drum parts live using a Yamaha DD6 drum machine, + later, a Yamaha DD7 drum machine. The duo also changed their name, from Nekro-Feelia, to Vasectomy Leftovers, due to a glut of bands with similar "Necro" names within the underground tape-trading scene of the time However in 1994, while attending High School, the duo once again changed their name... this time to Dive!. They recorded their first 4-track studio sessions that year, completing the "Bloop!" cassette, which was released by Hot Damn! Tapes, and limited to 30 copies. It was also the first album by the group that did away with the drum machine altogether (replacing it with a real drum kit). It showcased McCurdy's earliest true-compositional examples, which all were still very basic + primitive at the time, at least in McCurdy's own recollection. "Dan was essentially learning to play the drums at the same time the tape was recording. And we rarely did a second take of anything we ever recorded. Recording our improvisations was just how we wrote our music. Mistakes included.".

In 1990 Last Joker recorded their first demo tape with the songs " Without You " , " Last Joker " , " Hold on Tight " and " Every Night " and started a career playing for eager crowds in the São Paulo state. Because of their musicality , stage presence and sold out concerts they got the attention of Metal Rock Records and recorded their first LP simply called " Last Joker " and toured Brazil supporting bands such as Sepultura, Angra, Dr. Sin, RDP among others. In the middle nineties the band broke up and Miguel Mega moved to LA and started a solo career and released around 10 instrumental solo cds and appeared on several compilations alongside Greg Howe (Howe II, Michael jackson, Maragold), Kiko Loureiro (Angra, Megadeth) among others . In 2014 Miguel Mega moved to the UK and regrouped Last Joker with singer Roddy B. Search Add 4 Head Of Lies Head of Lies was an alternative/hard rock band based in Portland, Oregon. Formed in 1995 in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Head of Lies spent two years writing and developing their sound, and playing shows around Oklahoma and Kansas. Early in 1997, they decided that it was time to commit some tracks to a recording. Using little more than an 8-track digital recorder and some descent microphones, Javier recorded the bands first demo, "The Missing Link" in the band's living room. Head of Lies fully produced the entire demo, including designing and creating all of the artwork for the CD. In early 1998, realizing that their opportunities were limited in Oklahoma, Head of Lies decided to relocate. Portland seemed an ideal choice. Arriving in late 1998, the band immediately started visiting local clubs and checking out music shows, both large and small. Deciding that their first demo was not representative of their current sound, Head of Lies got to work on a new EP. Finished in early August 1999, "Trapped Ugly" was again fully recorded and produced by the band. It has a much more professional sound to it. At this time, Head of Lies continued to write new material and play shows around the Portland area pursuing a career in the music industry. It was not until 2002 that they released their studio album Clay And Needles. After this, no further information was received from the band.

At present, he attends the classes of the Faculty of Communication and Public Relations (SNSPA) as a second year student, but he is obviously mainly focused on music. Both as a singer and as a manager or composer as well, Bogdan was lucky, finding the right solution to changing a song, a band or a musical project into a success. In 1995, together with one of his best friends, Sorin, Bogdan initiated one of the first dance bands in Romania - MB&C. In 1996, MB&C released the first album of dance music in Romania (only one side of the tape, together with Isteria on the other side), Romanian Jungle and a year later he would participate in one of the most popular musical events of that period, Radio Contact Galas. The band released 3 albums between 1995 and 2000 and after that, Bogdan made his option for a solo career, under the name of Dl Problemă ("Mr. Problem"). A very successful period followed again for Bogdan, who released, in the years 2001-2004, 3 albums. As a composer and manager, he collaborated with important voices of Romanian musical stage, like [a553972] or [a646610], and he is the composer and manager of the band [a1917648], already at its third album. In 2006, Bogdan's composition activity was awarded with the Prize for Artistic Excellence offered by the Foundation [a918339] in Mamaia Festival, in the creation section, with the song Muza mea (“My Muse”), interpreted by his two good collaborators and friends, Andrei and Kamara ([a1917648] components). In 2000 he founded [l504492] Currently he relaunched his career with new project ''Free DeeJays'' together with Rareș Varniote.

В 2006 году группа заняла первое место в Top for 2006 musical label Arisk Star.

Search Add 4 Nowhere Near The Garden Strange name for a band? The name of the band originally comes from a marriage council guidance course, those who are unmarried are nowhere near the garden; the garden being the biblical garden of eden/perfection. Whatever you say pastor! Other theories include (but are not limited to) references to beer gardens, horticultural disasters, plant allergies and the mould growing on Jason's bed sheets (you wouldn't want to go anywhere near that garden). Garden party - The boys once ran up a £1175 bar tab in 4 days. The guitarist can't tell Kurt Cobain from James Hetfield - James doesn't listen to music on purpose, Jason and Rog once had to tell him who Kurt Cobain was. Metallicas sound man comes to the rescue Big Mick Hughes once got a call to help the band in a small smokey pub where he fixed a tiny vocal PA that had packed in. He has done sound for NNTG twice. The behind the scene stories this guy tells are priceless! Young musician of year - when not playing in the garden Jason is a classical percussionist; he has played with the CBSO and was a semi finalist in the young musician of the year competition. He graduated from music college on the Friday of Glastonbury. Rog is a classically trained composer (the two met at Birmingham Conservatoire) and has written a number of chamber, choral and orchestral pieces. Stolen gear - June 2003 the band had all of their gear stolen, £9000 in total. Other bands, friends and fans rallied round and supported by lending instruments and even donating cash. Regional TV and radio support as well. Gear is still missing. Senheisser competition winners - rog entered a competition advertised in Q. The band came 1st out of 1300 entries from UK and abroad. Band won 1st prize: £2500 cash, £2500 gear (which came in handy after the theft) and a spot on Glastonbury 04.

Search Add 4 Krista Green Born in Bournemouth, Dorset, Krista Green is a singer-songwriter who has been performing for over twelve years. Before launching her career, Krista discovered her love for being on stage as a dancer, within the Bournemouth pantomimes from the tender age of eight. Learning the drums at fifteen, she treasured playing with her brother’s rock ’n’ roll band and was gifted a guitar for her eighteenth birthday. Whilst teaching herself to play the guitar, she began writing songs and as her confidence grew, she found out that singing and song-writing was exactly what she wanted to do as a career. Krista went on to study performing arts and enjoyed a variety of acting, theatre and entertainment jobs across England as well as song writing, busking and playing gigs and weddings for many years. In 2011, she won the 'Bournemouth Unplugged' competition whilst up against tremendous talent, with a voice described as ‘sunshine’, and a sound compared to the likes of KT Tunstall, Katie Melua and Jack Johnson. Soon after, her debut album ‘Moments With The Universe’ was released in May 2012. As well as being an accomplished solo musician, Krista also played with a band, notably performing under the name ‘Krista Green & The Bees’ around Dorset for the last two years and at present. One of their most memorable performances was sharing the same stage as Nizlopi, supporting them at Purbeck Valley Folk Festival in 2014. In the same year, she released another album titled ‘Stepping Stones’. By 2015 Krista had released three albums, all of which are available on iTunes, and she was no stranger to playing live performances and regularly entertaining new crowds. As a solo artist, Krista currently has a huge repertoire of both popular covers and original material which spans from gentle, chilled vibes to upbeat, catchy tunes; instilled by her mother's love for The Beatles whilst growing up and a love for the same fun 'summertime vibe'. Her covers range from the likes of Vance Joy, Bob Marley and The Fratellis through to Paolo Nutini, Ed Sheeran and George Ezra, showcasing her talent in singing an array of genres. No matter if it’s an up-tempo or a heartfelt track, her original material is always lyrically poetic. During her time as a busker over the years, she met a man called Barry who sold the Big Issue and they became good friends. His sudden passing led her to write ‘Barry’s Song’, a particularly meaningful song from her album ‘Krista Green: Live’. Krista believes that song writing is like keeping a diary and gives you the chance to pour out your emotions, whilst creating something positive. Her talent doesn’t just stop with music. Krista holds a black belt in Taekwondo as well as having the ability to draw and design all of the artwork for her albums. She currently lives in Bournemouth, gigging regularly, teaching music and focusing on her music. Krista continues to work hard and is currently writing her fourth album.
