Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 3 Hugh Christopher Brown Born and bred in Toronto, and calling NYC home, before recently setting up his studio in the old post office on Wolfe Island, multi-instrumentalist and music producer Hugh Christopher “Chris” Brown has “a real talent for writing thought-provoking political songs that somehow manage to keep the feet tapping and the mind racing at the same time” (All Music Guide). Beyond his own music, Chris has performed and recorded (usually organ, piano and clavinet – but sometimes trombone, tuba or other instruments) for many stellar artists including Ani DiFranco, Joan As Police Woman, Tony Scherr, Barenaked Ladies, Ashley MacIsaac, Crash Test Dummies and Jen Chapin, among others. Brown was one of the primary singers and songwriters for the alternative rock band Bourbon Tabernacle Choir in the 1980s and 1990s and when that band broke up, he continued performing as a duo with his Bourbon bandmate Kate Fenner. Chris currently divides his time between Brooklyn, NY, and Wolfe Island, Ontario, producing albums, touring and performing solo or with many of his musical colleagues including Kate Fenner and Open Hearts Society. Chris is also a passionate and committed social justice activist and founded the Pros and Cons program volunteering at Pittsburgh Institution where he continues to run music workshops. The “inescapably honest and sincere” (Exclaim!) album Chris recorded and produced with the prisoners Postcards from the County (available as a free download) and Chris’ ongoing work with the prisoners has been acknowledged and hailed by the Toronto Star, Truthout, Examiner.com, CBC (Canada), Sirius XM Canada and many others. Chris recently produced debut albums for Suzanne Jarvie and David Corley which are both receiving international critical acclaim and is currently working on a solo album as well as projects with OHS and Kate Fenner.

Search Add 3 Conspiracies Wilfred Boateng & Ivano Poletti Conspiracies is an Italian musical project started in 2014 following a versus track. The duo composed by BrainFuckeR and Nighez was formed thanks to the musical harmony of the two members. They unite powerful kickdrums with melodies and, influenced by other genres, they are looking to create their own style. The project was strongly supported by Frazzbass, who released the first track on the label "Noistorm". Now they seek to spread their sound producing tracks that range from frenchcore to hardcore, reggaecore and hardtechno, calling all the genres "Hardsound". Ivano Poletti (BrainFuckeR): Born in 1995, I started playing with fruity loops when I was 13 years old. I was 15 when I started to make the first tracks and now I am still producing trying to improve more and more. Wilfred Boateng (Nighez): Born in 1992, i started i started playing music at 8 years and began with drums, years later i graduated to keyboard, bassguitar and lead guitar, from 2011 i began to make electronic music. Is a world that i love and in which i hope to make the difference.

Quite obvious these guys draw influence from bands like CKY, Metallica, Mastodon, and Queens of the Stone Age, but their approach is different. Search Add 3 Галина Казакова Галина Григорьевна Казакова Galina Kazakova was born on April 13, 1928 in Moscow. She entered the Gnesenykh Institute, where she initially studied piano, and later switched to the choirmaster's course, while simultaneously studying vocal skills. The years of study ended with an invitation to the Bolshoi Theater of the USSR as a choir director, but Galina had already firmly fallen in love with the vocal art and, having won a representative competition, became a member of the Bolshoi Theater choir. In 1957, the talented singer took part in the International Festival of Youth and Students, where she met the novice composer and organizer of the youth pop orchestra of the Central House of Arts Yuri Saulsky, who invited Galina to his team. Then there were the years of working as a soloist in the famous Oleg Lundstrem Orchestra and returning to the choir of the Bolshoi Theater, in which Galina Grigorievna worked for a third of a century. She died on November 6, 2011.

Search Add 3 Leonid Sabaneev Леонид Леонидович Сабанеев [Leonid Leonidovich Sabaneyev] Born: 1881-10-01 (Moscow, Russia) Died: June 03, 1968 (Antibes, France) Leonid Sabaneev was a Russian musicologist, music critic, composer and scientist. Leonid Sabaneev [preferable & more common form is 'Sabaneyev'] was a Russian composer, musicologist, music critic & scientist. Son of a prominent naturalist & hunting/fishing expert, he studied mathematics, physics & natural sciences at the Moscow University while additionally attending historical/philological courses. Also, he was able to receive a high-class musical education, with some of the best teachers around (e.g. [a= Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov], among others). By 1920s he became a famous – if rather scandalous & (self-)contradictory - music critic; as well as a music theorist, both highly innovative & inconsistent. A colourful & eccentric person, he was a close friend of [a= Alexander Scriabine] & a good acquaintance of many significant (musical or not) figures of the era, impressions of which relations later finding themselves in print in his highly acclaimed memoirs. However, almost throughout his life, regularly though not exactly prolifically, he has been writing his own music – beginning at the turn of the 20th century & ending (obviously/mostly) somewhere in 1940s. He finished orchestration score for a grandiose oratorio 'The Revelation of St. John' (aka simply 'Apocalypse'), high-demanding & time-devouring on the author's part, in 1940; still, according to reports, he continued working at the opus until his last years. The score is believed to be entombed up to this day in some US archives, unpublished. Yielding to looming shadows of dreadful changes, Sabaneyev left Russia in 1926 & relocated to Paris where he was still engaged in busy & diverse music-related activities (composed/staged a ballet; published a good book on history of Russian music; etc.). Subsequently he dwelled, for limited spells of time, in London & US. During all his time in emigration Sabaneyev never stopped working actively in many authoritative music periodicals; he also wrote music for films. He returned to France, a 'home regained' of Russian emigration, in 1933 where he died in Cap d'Antibes near Nice in October 1st, 1968. Sabaneyev's music – almost inevitably though never too heavily influenced by Scriabin & other late Romantics, was, as a matter of fact, another, divergent, going further & beyond the conventional music conceptions even of those revolutionary times; technically much complex yet unusually brittle in it’s moods, innately bearing some weird ‘romantic’ kind of darkness. It obviously hasn’t struck a chord with his contemporaries, either in Russia or in the West, & has mostly laid in obscurity for many decades, with only some broader-minded &/or rara-avis-catcher performers (like, e.g., [a= Marc-André Hamelin]) trying it out once in a while. In 2012, three daring & already well-experienced musicians has recorded two essential Sabaneyev’s 1920’s piano works - treated with all due care & exactness, rendered with inspirational sincerity, & recorded with top-notch modern quality - in Munich’s BR Studios. Accordingly, a CD (‘Piano Trios’) was issued on GENUIN label which has caused quite a stir & won much acclaim among music connoisseurs’ circles. Three years later a double CD, ‘The Complete Works for Piano Vol. 1’ came from GENUIN, containing a dozen small piano pieces performed by [a= Michael Schäfer (5)], the pianist from the previous recording; it equally & deservedly garnered most positive reviews. Sabaneyev’s one-year elder brother, Boris Sabaneyev ([a= Борис Сабанеев]), who hasn’t survived the Russian Red Revolution, was also a musician: classical organist, organ composer & theorist, and pedagogue. On the 3-figure photo (among those linked to on this page), left to right, are: L. Sabaneyev; A. Scriabin; Tatiana Schloezer (Scriabin's Muse, as also his common-law wife).

Search Add 3 Dwight Hayden Dwight Anthony Hayden Songwriter, rapper, producer and vocalist Dwight Anthony Hayden aka MC Dilly was born in Jamaica, close to Port Antonio, one of the main tourist area. He got interested in music at a very early age : he did his first appearance at a local stage show as he was only 9. Some years later, be moved to Bronx (New York), where he hooked up with reggae dancehall sound, building his American fan base. After graduating Truman High School, he did not have any money for college. So he joined the US Army, which brought him to Germany. There, he continued his musical carreer by collaborating with Sahara music and Intercord records, out of Fulda and Stuttgart. He learned how to perform and record professionally. He also picked up on producing, arranging, mixing and song writing. This is how Dwight became ragga-rapper for the project 2 For Love, his first major project. With ex hair model Jacky, they released two singles and toured all over Germany, performing with some of Europe's big names such as La Bouche, DJ Bobo, Reel 2 Real. and C-block. He also contributed to Matchboxx Love Peace And Harmony. Then, Dwight went back to America to build his recording company and label UNT Records in the Midwest. He released 2 compilations under that label : Mercenaries and Colabo. In spite of many attempts, he did not got the expected success, so finally Dwight went back to Europe, this time Italy. He met DJ Lele Finetto who let him freestyle in the clubs in Vicenza, gaining popularity among a military community. Then he started collaborating with DJ Tony Prince who wanted him as a vocalist. He worked in Venice, Milan, Florence, Rome, Bologna, Treviso, Verona, Rimini and Naples, and also visited neighboring countries (Slovania, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary and Spain). 2004 : he contributed to Ottomix's single Raggasex and to PLM's The Big Casino "Hoes" (with vocals by Reuben Ehigie, production by Lele Finetto and Ottomix). He started touring Europe and Asia. He also went to Afghanistan and Iraq with MWR and AKA Productions for the US military intertaining soldiers and family members across the globe. 2005 : he released his solo album Da Don under UNT Productions. He describes the style as dancehall reggae with a Hip Hop twist. He also released two singles (Run, Bounce) from the album.

Search Add 3 Sacripolitical Sacripolitical (1983 – 1993; 2019 - present) is a punk rock band from Marin County, CA. The name Sarcipolitical is a reference to the band members’ attitude toward politics. Just as a person who is sacrilegious is irreverent toward the sacred, Sacripolitical plays songs, like “Peace: Under our Supervision,” “The Nihilist Void,” and “Napalm Baby” that are politically and philosophically irreverent. During the 1980s, Sacripolitical played parties, underground shows in warehouses, in barns, and on the bill with other bands like Ludoviko Technique, The Pukes, Complete Disorder, Fang, Frightwig, and Camper Van Beethoven. In Marin they played at The Sleeping Lady, The Flashback, The Novato Theater, and The Warehouse. In San Francisco, they performed at the 6th St. Rendevous, Club Chameleon, Club Foot, and other venues. Some shows ended in philosophical conversation; some ended in near riots! They made a lot of friends, a lot of enemies, and had a lot of fun. In 2019, Sacripolitical reunited, playing parties and shows at College of Marin and The Makeout Room before the pandemic hit. They have used their shelter-in-place time to record new songs that are sure to annoy a whole new generation of listeners.
