Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024
Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 12 | Ethel Lindsey | Ethel, Anath, Lindsey | French and International Singer/Songwriter, Multi-intrumentist, Arranger, & Record Lover, born in Paris in the early eighties. Under "Ethel" or "Ethel Lindsey" he is mainly known as a soulful, charismatic and chameleon Singer/vocalist. But he also earned the reputation of being a fine songwriter/composer in his own right. Focusing on writing material in his native language for few decades, he moved on writing english language material in the early 2000's, and nearly emerged in the french neo soul movement. Primary an autodidact keyboardist, Ethel started to record himself at the early age of 12 years old, eventually picked up the electric bass at the age of 15. These skills allowed him to arrange, shape and build his own demos. His Musical Knowledge surely helped him to shape his musical developpement. His late brother, Stephane Lindsey Aronowicz (1968-2010) was a french underground Jazz Saxophonist and Composer as well. Both are family related to famous french arranger, Michel Berholc and A&R/Singer/producer, Yves Roze who were their father's cousins. Ethel began his musical career at a very young age when he was discovered in 1993 by the now legendary French westcoast producer, Bernard St Paul. St Paul has previously produced French icons such as Veronique Sanson or Michel Berger back in the 70's/80's and went on to produce, David Koven in the 90's. Ethel was deeply influenced by the music and esthetism of his first idols which were Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross, George Duke, George Benson, Junior Giscombe, Sade, Wham / George Michael, Terence Trent D'arby, Rufus, Prince, Billy Joel and Earth, Wind & Fire Other Obvious and major influences includes Cheryl Lynn, Ray Parker Jr, Quincy Jones, Vera Brown & The Ritchie Family B.B & Q Band, Chaka Khan, Bill Summers and the Summers Heat, Anita Baker, Rod Temperton, Narada Michael Walden, Rick James, Lewis Taylor, Al Jarreau, Jay Graydon, Christopher Cross, Chic, David Foster, Beverley Craven, Steely Dan, Eric Tagg, Hamish Stuart & Alan Gorrie / The Average White Band, Hall & Oates, Easy Pieces, Des'ree, Marcus Miller, Tevin Campbell, Shanice, The Jones Girls, The Emotions, Bobby Caldwell, Bill LaBounty, The L.A boppers, Larry John McNally, Pages, Toto, Roger Voudouris... to name a few out of a gigantic List. Ethel have been also influenced by French/Canadian home artists and singer/songwriters like Rachid Bahri, Didier Makaga, Michel Jonasz, Michel Polnareff, Michel Berger, David Koven, Diane Tell, Dwight Druick, Alain Chamfort, Serge Gainsbourg, and Daniel Levi. In Early 1994, he began to work on an anticipated debut album for Wea Records. Prior to this he had already recorded a bunch of demos of his own material in a local studio owned by the arranger and musician, Pierre Lambert Sr, which was his childhood best friend's father. Lambert Jr being a longtime professional Drummer and sound engineer during a major part of the eighties. However this initial project recorded through 1995 never saw the light of day due to Wea's change of guard during that era. Ethel returned to his studies for while, but never ceased to write songs He eventually start to track himself in the fall of 1998 with few tools at home and to record more than 400 demos on a span of 3 years. Originally Playing Acoustic Piano and Fender Rhodes, he soon added all sorts of Keyboards and synthesizers, moved on bass guitar, and sometimes even drums - apart of Singing all his vocal parts and harmonies. From 1998 to 2000, Lindsey did solo gigs in various areas of Paris while focusing again on writing songs and recording his demos that he obviously tried to pitch to secure a record deal, but in vain. In early 2002, He appeared on the web, which led him to release several only demo albums on the span of 10 years. A Lot of his underground work is now available here and there mostly on Apple Music and all others legal platforms. Around 2002/2003, he closely worked in studio with the parisian based and French Electro touch Group : " Next Evidence". This collaboration truly started after the release of the group's album named "Thrills" released on Capitol Records. Their association resulted as 3 tracks co produced by "Next Evidence" which appeared on Ethel's demo album "Venir à vous" (2004) Besides his solo project, Ethel eventually worked as a guest singer on some of Next Evidence's tracks and became the original singer for the track " Right Now", a track which was picked up later by "Bob Sinclar" who decided to rework it. Sinclar didn't work with Ethel, so he chose another vocalist and released the song under a new name : "World Hold On" which became a worldwide hit. In 2006, Lindsey has released his second and double unofficial album, a double demo album named : " Ethel II" It was soon followed by his first English Soulful Ep " Ep#1", released on itunes in 2007 with deep appreciation in the Uk and in the US, on "MySpace". Though it was rather unnoticed, this short Ep included the first versions of some quiet storm and soulful songs like, " Sophie" and "Please ! " all written, composed & performed by Ethel Lindsey. In 2010 Ethel released his sixth french album called: "La Confiserie des Sentiments", which can be considered as the maturation of his french songwriting work. This special album contained songs like: " Le doux nom de Marie ", "A Celle là" and "Bel Anniversaire" which became AOR and soulful french classics from his french repertoire. Then, from 2012 to 2015, Ethel worked as a frontman and keyboardist in several Funk cover bands and Original Brazilian jazz funk bands in Paris's area, playing intensively besides musical mate and former Bassist from his own solo project, Virgile Raffaelli (Aldorande, Setenta) The pair eventually worked with a 3 Horn Section local band, in Paris. Lindsey wrote and composed 5 more unleaked albums between 2009 and 2015. His various collaborations led him to meet french guitarist and sound engineer, David Hattab. Together they found the short lived group named: " SPARKLES (Featuring Ethel Lindsey) Hattab & Lindsey co wrote the electro funk infected single "So Good" which was originally released by their home label, Future Play, and Distributed by Universal records. In Early 2015, this track has been released on Expansion records in the UK and included in the " Soul Togetherness " compilation directed by Ralph Tee. Ethel is also known for being influenced by the westcoast/AOR/Blue Eyed Soul genre from the 70's/80's This led him to a direct collaboration with another French fellow Westcoaster Artist, Gael Benyamin Through his own group: "Geyster", the two musicians released the single "Easy" in 2016. The duet was the first single from Geyster's album titled "With all due respect", which was also released on the Japanese imprint, P VINE records These directions led Ethel to a crucial meeting with Producer and A&R, Pascal Rioux, founder of the international indie label : "Favorite Recordings". Through Summer 2023, Ethel teamed up with label mate, Thomas Blanchot, AKA « Mato » to be a part of a Bobby Caldwell cover. Together they released their version from Caldwell's Classic from 1978, « What you won’t do for love », delivering a nice and special t Reggae Dub flavored version of the famous hit. It was released internationally in the form of a 7 inch in May 19 of 2023 on « Stix Records » (a subdivision of Favorite Recordings) To be continued |

Search | Add | 12 | Φυτά | ΦΥΤΑ | ΦΥΤΑ (plants) split in November 2013 after a frantic course in the field of botanical music/art creativity. What would one mostly remember of the scandalous path of the adventurous duo from northern Greece! The songs that talked about all pessing human issues and were so loved by ordinary people and critics? The partnerships with household names of the Greek-speaking music scene? The shimmering guests that honoured with their presence their historical (now) first concert? Let ‘s see how it all began. FYTA consist of F89 and F78, two controversial personalities with different backgrounds. F89 has always wanted to deal with music but did not manage (evil tongues say it’s due to lack of talent) and found support in the musically experienced F78 who always believed in young kids with vision and passion. Together they started working on their botanical debut ΑΝΘΗ (flowers). Soon, new pathways seemed to appear and they decided that music as we know it does not suit them and so with their second album they introduced a new genre, so-called bratmusik (fried music) where frying is both literal (recordings in the kitchen and a special interest on cooking themes) and metaphorical (crispy sounds, sautéed feelings and fatty performances). Some more releases on and after they had enough of music and music had enough of them, they decided to move to the fine art world and express themselves freer as it were, if you know what i mean, in three-dimensional space. So alongside another 50 special friends, they began building a shambling playground at the athens biennale. Harsh stuff were expressed about this controversial project, including ‘ You are even worse than Plato’. A little later, FYTA decided to consensually split due to internal disagreements. Today, long after their split, FYTA break the silence. They are the hostesses of the FYTINI portal, where the special friends they acquired all these years joyously come together to devise creative disasters. FTN’s main principle was that of FYTA themselves: ‘no more boredom in the Greek / Greek-speaking music scene’. |

Search | Add | 12 | Taras Bullba | TARAS BULLBA | punkrock / skatepunk band Plzeň, Czech republic active since 2001 when split bands STÁDO MIKROBÚ and TARAS BUL´BA (also recorded a demo). Then renamed to TARASOVI MIKROBY (played first show after this name and recorded a demo). First line-up: BACHI DEJV PALMÍK TEREZ GARGI VENCA. In this combo they played first classic 9 shows. Then VENCA quit. And Classic formation then is till 2005 BACHI - songwritting, guitar, vocals, PALMÍK - drums, rehearsal room keeper, DEJV - guitar, archivist and graphics, TEREZ - bass. A guy named DOKTOR was since 2004 till 2005 around to help play bass when TEREZ can´t or had other things to do towards liberation. In 2006 band started to work on a program to a fourth album with a new bassplayer SMETÁK who easily became our friend and stabile member. In 2007 DEJV quits a band and starts his own emo-screamo band. Shortly, there played a guitarist BAXX, who also quits after recording session for Portraits of false authority Then starts a second classic era in three. There is alson to mention that our band member SMETAK made realize our improvised DIY studio, so we are since fifth record fully autonomous. However these proclamation seems vague in these times (2022), in year 2011 was situation different. After releasing a sixth album Nostalgie band goes on a short tour to Izrael, where organizer VATI also wanted to play with us (both sides) and after that tour flought from that country to became our stabile guitarist and also on few vocals. It took a long time to release seventh record 7ALUTE MACHINA, on which he has also his own song, and that´s first exception in whole twenty years when is on TARAS BULLBA material someone else than BACHi who sings the whole song. Despite the fact that we played some big shows outta punk-rock community, our home is in diy shows that are free and mere personal. |

Search | Add | 12 | Preliminary Saturation | Wouter Jaspers, Steffan de Turck | Preliminary Saturation is the electro-acoustic, free improv, drone-duo in which Dutch sound artists Wouter Jaspers and Steffan de Turck combine their forces. To some extent, both might be better known for their solo-projects: Franz Fjodor and staplerfahrer, respectively. As Franz Fjodor, Jaspers displays a fascination for the darker side of life; with self-made instruments he creates a sound that shippers between droning soundscapes, depressed noise and dark folk. His style signature varies with his mood: from psycho chants to punk screams, from guitar oriented drones to field recordings. De Turck plays around with crunched and broken (micro)sounds, electro-magnetic waves and noise. Sometimes in a back-to-basics analogue setting, other times solemnly using his powerbook. Every once and a while, they come together in the safe harbor of one of their living rooms, pop open a bottle of wine, light some cigarettes and start improvising as long as the mood is right. |

Search | Add | 12 | Madpack | Madpack | Hip-Hop With Heart and Humor Terry Baker, Syracuse New Times 01-08-1997 Thousands of rap albums glut the market each year, few of them memorable. As the resilient genre races toward its 20th anniversary as a commercial commodity, its fans still wonder what will propel it beyond misogyny, gangsta-ism and East Coast/West Coast polarity. Answers to those concerns slowly surface in smaller metropolitan areas such as Syracuse. Many small-market efforts provide avenues for fresh approaches and make room for provocative new voices in rap. This is all perfect timing for the new release by Mad Pack, the Sammy-winning Syracuse collective that includes three acts: Channel 3, the Sub-basements and solo artist R-Reality. The long-delayed Last Dimension chronicles Mad Pack's progression from a conglomerate of raw hip-hop talent into polished rap trailblazers here in the Salt City. For fans who enjoy rap laced with lyrical mind bombs and humorous rhymes, Last Dimension hits its mark in a hurry. Aesthetically, however, it's infused with a back-to-basics style that emphasizes double entendre and palpitating rhythms, yet refuses to rely on hyper-materialism and gimmicks. Newcomers beware, however: Last Dimension remains close to the street and doesn't swagger toward a pop appeal like recent projects from Fugees or Coolio. This album might be easy to digest, but it's certainly not candy-coated. All good artistic endeavors are autobiographical on some level, and Last Dimension is no exception. Mad Pack is learning the ins and outs of the music game by trial and error. They verbalize these triumphs and tribulations on this 12-song cassette and, thankfully, their soul-searching is done without being too vindictive. These tales will make listeners smile and even laugh when hearing them for the first time. The bass-heavy "Mr. A&R," for instance, takes a shot at record companies' artist and repertoire departments, many of whom don't know much about the genre, yet are responsible for discovering and signing acts. Another sizzling track along similar lines is the hard-core cut "I.O.U.," a chorus-line jam featuring each member's twisted rendition of the big payback. Hip-hop heads who have caught Mad Pack's high-energy performances at local venues or heard them flex their freestyle rhyme skills over the airwaves of the old WOLF-AM 1490 will certainly remember the rambunctious "Kill a Copy Kat" and more mellow offerings such as "Continuous Vibe" and "Six Souls Singin.'" New Edition fans will recognize Mad Pack's hypnotic "Red Lights and Incense," which features the beat from NE's single "Hit Me Off." Many observers believe rap will survive if and when it successfully builds bridges to other genres. Mad Pack must agree, because they enlisted the commandeering voice of the late reggae artist Bobby-T (who died before the cassette was released) on the cut "Rude Boy," which can best be described as hip-hop meets the dance hall. "Rude Boy" will please fans of Caribbean music and may well convert them into rap fans along the way. Between some of the cuts, Mad Pack has crafted some of the most effective voice-over skits this side of De La Soul. Two of the more remarkable routines include an hilarious sample from the cartoon Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids, which speaks out against rapper's materialism, as well as the skillfully crafted "Battle Interlude" from a radio show in Rochester. |

Search | Add | 12 | Dagashi Kashi | 駄菓子菓子 | The band was formed in 1997, as a new wave duo first called "Squash" (ぐにゃり). The members where Mera-Dono on vocals / bass and E.Shima Terushige on guitar / synth. The next year, they start to doing some hard rock music and rennamed themselves "Dagashi Kashi" (駄菓子菓子), with in bonus new members. As long as the year was going, they lose all the new members. They only found a new drummer in 1999, but it's in 2000 that the bassist Sakaidesan discover the band (and became part of it) and also introduce Dagashi Kashi to his label: "Hormone Tank Record". They also released their first album "Botai Nai Sekai" (母胎内世界). Even if the line-up staid unstable, they could release their second reccord, "Jingaikyou No Heya" (人外境の部屋) in 2002. In the same year, they been asked to be part of the compilation "Ugou no Shuu" (烏合の衆), with several other japanese punk-rock bands. In 2003, they even tour into the USA. The two former members decided to create an alter-ego to the band with their new-wave concept. The duo was called "Katakata 16 Fun" (カタカタ16分). They also released their third record "Kokoro Mushi" (こころむし). In 2004, the label "Satsugai Enka Vinyl" (that made the "Ugou no Shuu" (烏合の衆) compilation) decided to made a remix album of a couple of songs from the band. It was called "Dagui" (駄喰). In 2006, E.Shima Terushige, one of the founder of the band quit, leaving the band in mourning. They finally released another album in 2007, called "Amida Kudi" (阿弥陀くぢ), with the same spirit than their first album, even if we thought his spirit has died with the years: their old school side is stronger than the time ! Then, the shows were rares and they didn't release anything since 2010, when Mera-Dono released her first solo single. The sells of the album give back the taste to the band to come up with a fifth album: "Bonnou Go Dan Katsuyou" (煩悩五段活用). They made a hommage show to "新宿LOFT", a guitarist of session of the band that died. Then, the line-up changed a lot with the time, so the band had decided to record nothing since they will be stabilized. |

Search | Add | 12 | Carl Coccomo | Dubbed “The Singin’ Sicilian” by Ol Blue Eyes himself, Carl Coccomo’s sound evokes 1950’s Hollywood so strongly that putting on one of his Crooner classics feels like putting on a fedora and grabbing a table at The Palms. Born in Omaha, Carl headed west with his accordion at the age of 18. He gave USC the old college try, but found more satisfaction pursuing his professional career – gigging around Los Angeles from the sidewalks all the way to popular nightclubs such as The Horn. After being drafted in 1948, Carl (with accordion in tow) headed to Korea to fight, and upon returning to LA in 1951, he hadn’t missed a beat. The following year, Carl began a 10 year contract as one of the Ken Darby Singers. The group had previously been brought in on any Fox film which had vocal elements on the score, such as the official Wizard of Oz soundtrack. Carl lent his voice to the Academy Award-winning film “Three Coins In The Fountain.” After securing record deals with both Starlight Records and Liberty Records for his first album of original material, Carl’s second original effort “Double Exposure” was recorded at the legendary Capitol Records building on the corner of Hollywood Blvd & Vine Street. With songs as diverse as the rousing “Rosina,” to the tender notes of “I Need You,” these songs are a time capsule when songs were recorded the right way – in this instance with a 26 piece orchestra. Carl’s songs represent theatrical slices of vintage Pop and Jazz – a time capsule which has proven invaluable to projects such as “American Horror Story” (FX), “12 Monkeys” (Syfy) and “Graves” (EPIX).

Search | Add | 12 | Gyrlie | Lydia Madajewski | The Dance project GYRLIE evolved from the basic need to bring sensual melodies to the dance floor. The musical DNA of the creative mind that hides behind the band’s name avor 90’s Euro-Dance rhythms as the backbone for her productions. Lydia Pockaj collected her merits working with genre icons such as E-ROTIC, Missing Heart, Apanachee and Bad Boys Blue. With the catchy tune "I Feel Sun", GYRLIE makes its successful debut in the summer of 2017, rounded out few months later by the bassy "I Feel Sun (REMIXES)" EP. Just in time before the turn of the year, the powerful single "Right Now" is released. The mystic, yet danceable song reminds of good old Euro-Dance times yet carries his own trademark thanks to its playfulness. In May 2018 "Save Me", the third and most rocking single of GYRLIE, is released. Paired with a cool dance-pop beat, "Save me" evokes spring fever on the dance floor and makes you wish for more. Just in time for the Christmas holidays, the label Laydee Records delivers a treat that does not go to the thighs, but makes you wanna dance. With the fourth single "Fantasy", Gyrlie explores the whole spectrum of danceable rhythms and romantic feelings. The result is a song that beams the listener out of the cosy warmth right onto the energetic dance floor. Also 2019 could not end without a GYRLIE release - „Tonight“ -the fifth single- not only incorporates romance and rhythm, but impresses by heart melting lyrics and the warm, yet powerful vocals. In line with the tradition, the sixth single is released in December and is carried by Lydia Pockaj’s soulful voice, while the instruments remain pleasantly discreet in the background. At the same time, the orchestral background gives the song a unique structure that makes “Far Away” perhaps the most classic title in GYRLIE's discography. More GYRLIE releases are expected and the team is also working on the full Album. The release dates are not confirmed yet. |

Search | Add | 12 | Anastasi Mavrides | Anastasi Mavrides | American musician, composer and pianist, born in Pennsylvania, United States. Composer and producer Anastasi (ah nah STAH zee) knew at an early age that his love of music would play an important role in his life. After years of learning to play a variety of instruments, he went on to study music and eastern philosophy in college. It was during this time that he began to experiment with music and sounds that might be conducive to relaxation and concentration. To support himself, he played in several rock and jazz bands and in 1978 he was back-up guitarist for the Beach Boys on their “Almost Summer Tour.” Later, he and Donna O’Sullivan formed a production company called Metromusic in Mill Valley, California, which went on to produce award-winning music for commercials and film. He also created The Classical Child Series, which is a whimsical reinterpretation of traditional classical melodies. He originally came up with the idea as a way to expose his newborn daughter to the world of classical music. The Nature’s Classics Series Anastasi recorded for Real Music is a collection of popular classical pieces creatively combined with sounds of nature. They include Country Morning, Country Evening, and The Pachelbel Canon with Ocean Sounds. The latter, having sold over 300,000 copies, proved to be one of Real Music’s hottest selling titles. On The Pachelbel Canon with Ocean Sounds, Anastasi took the timeless charm of this world class piece and developed an arrangement which expands on its already meditative and inspirational qualities. The simple, yet compelling “Canon in D” melody is coupled with gentle ocean waves which unfold throughout this instrumental poetry, conjuring up vivid imagery of a distant shore. On CinemOcean, Anastasi has taken ten of the most beautiful movie themes (from composers as diverse as Vangelis, John Barry, Ennio Morricone and Ryuichi Sakamoto) and masterfully arranged them into a poignant musical tapestry. Enhanced by the rhythmic caress of ocean waves, this album creates an ideal environment for quiet thought, reflection, meditation and encouraging the magic of one's own imagination. As Anastasi says of this work, “It's evident that music can have a powerful influence on the human spirit, so what I've tried to achieve with The Pachelbel Canon and CinemOcean is a soothing pocket of relaxation and beauty that can uplift anyone who listens and inspire them to their highest potential.” |

Search | Add | 12 | Tex Withers | b. c.1933, d. 29 December 1986. No one knows when and where Tex Withers was born, his real name or his parents. His rise in British country music showed remarkable resilience: he was four feet tall and a hunchback with a painful history of severe spinal problems and tuberculosis. Withers wore western dress throughout the day as he longed to be an American Indian - his wife, known as White Fawn, dressed as his squaw and smoked a clay pipe. A good-natured man who laughed at his handicaps, Withers was the long-standing compère at West London’s Nashville Room and won several awards as the Top UK country singer, his show-stoppers being ‘These Hands’ and a narration about a Red Indian’s difficulties in coming to terms with society, ‘The Ballad Of Ira Hayes’. Tex Withers Sings Country Style sold 135, 000 copies, while his 1973 album, The Grand Ole Opry’s Newest Star was recorded mainly in Nashville, Tennessee. He was championed by Hank Snow, but his professional career was cut short by throat illness. Withers became bankrupt and his illiteracy made work difficult. His last years were spent as a cleaner at Gatwick Airport and Haywards Heath railway station. He found his happy hunting ground on 29 December 1986, probably aged 53, and merited an obituary in The Times.
