Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 12 | Orquestra Típica Portuguesa | Orquestra Típica Portuguesa | Founded in 1928 by Raúl de Campos, initially with the status of "Orquestra Ligeira" and "Orquestra de Dança", it stood out for being one of the most faithful interpreters of Portuguese Music, within the scope of regional music and the "Charleston" music produced in season. Integrated into the ranks of Emissora Nacional in 1934, under the direction of Alberto Fernandes and conductor-composer Frederico de Freitas, it was renamed "Orquestra Portuguesa", being responsible for the "Popular Concerts in the Open Air", which achieved great success at the time. It was temporarily extinguished in 1938, due to economic and financial complications. It would become the model for founding similar orchestras throughout the country, such as the Orquestra Típica de Acordeão Algarvia, the Orquestra de João Nobre, the Orquestra Típica Ribatejana or the Orquestra Típica de Alcobaça. Refounded in 1942, the Orquestra Típica was handed over to the maestro and composer from Leiria José Belo Marques, who gave it an unprecedented quality and excellence, being recruited for radio programs under his own name, or for the famous "Evenings for Workers” and “Evenings for Soldiers”. During its very open activity, until the year of its extinction in 1958, it achieved surprising popularity and reputation. He provided several highly successful shows and important phonographic recordings, both under his own name and under other identities. He was responsible for the first phonographic patent for great hits in Portuguese music, including "Adeus Mouraria" by Artur Ribeiro, "Ai Se os Meus Olhos Falassem" by Tristão da Silva, "Alcobaça" by Maria de Lourdes Resende, "Descamisada" by Maria Antonieta or "Gaiata Morena" by Manuel Fernandes. His biggest instrumental hits were "Tavira" by Luciano de Campos, "Correio do Algarve" by José Mourato, the "Rapsódia Portuguesa" by Manuel de Figueiredo, the "Fandango da Suite Alentejana" by Luiz de Freitas Branco, the "Suite Portuguesa" Nº 1" by Ruy Coelho, "Corridinho 1951" by João Gomes Figueiredo, or "Estoi" by Luís Romero. |

Search | Add | 12 | Funky Frankenstein | Company Bio: A creative outlet and record cutting service based in the heart of Tennessee. Lathe Cutting is a process which utilizes a sharp cutting stylus to engrave or emboss sound grooves onto a disk. Lathe cut records are an alternative to the modern practice of pressing records with metal plates. In lathe cutting a voice coil is used to drive a needle which cuts the sound waves into the revolving disk beneath it. This method has long been used for producing lacquer masters, which are then used to make metal plates for pressing. Most of the machines used for this purpose were manufactured pre-1960. Our particular machine (Presto 75A) began production in 1938. In recent years many people have begun experimenting with utilizing these machines to produce limited edition, unique records out of unorthodox materials such as picnic plates and plastic disks.

Within one month`s time, NN wrote 16 songs, recorded them and banned them on vinyl. With NN`s participants` other bands BITTERNESS EXHUMED, MINDFLAIR and HEAVEN SHALL BURN in mind, NN is way more stripped down, raw and spontanious in its execution. With a mindset deeply based in fast, short and agressive D.I.Y. music culture, NN decided to unleash their view on modern day society through their native language, german that is. All songs clock in between 10 and 40 seconds time. With a total playtime roughly over 5 minutes on their debut 7“ entitled „Wir können gar nicht so viel fressen, wie wir kotzen wollen“, you know this shit is not indie-pop.

Search | Add | 12 | Trase | TRASE (Erik de Wal, 1976) is a MC from The Netherlands and brings the real Hip Hop since '91. Went for his in 1997 after breaking up with his former band. TRASE stands for Things Really Ain't So Easy. TRASE in fact is his tagname which he came up with around 1989/1990. Basically formed for the great letters and it's diversity to design with. TRASE originally started as a graffiti artist. After elementary school TRASE discovered his love for the manipulation of the English language. Growing up in the north of The Netherlands, he tried to hit every mic available. Back in 1995 he started rocking house parties and ciphers alongside his formerly partner in rhyme, Signha and DJ Dear. Together they formed "The Buckwild Tribe", a group which fell apart in the end of 1997. In a period of 4 years they recorded some demo tracks which were never officially released. TRASE took it to the next level when he decided to leave the group and by taking manners in his own hand. It was 1998. TRASE was on mission to pursue his own solo career. He was tired of the no progress type of phases he had been dwelling in during the last years. The match with IMPRO turned out to be promising; they released their first product in 2001. The debut EP “The Encounta” attained favorable reviews. In the period after TRASE has worked on a project with several local artists and started working on another solo release. Originally he was to release a fully length untitled LP, but after completing several tracks it was shelved for reasons that were not entirely clear. In 2003 TRASE took his time to focus on new songs and has spent a lot time recording and performing. The same year he released “The Essentials”, a compilation of several songs recorded between 2001 and 2004. In 2007 another album (“Fase Of Transition”) was released. The past decades he connected, collaborated and performed with artists from Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Spain and The United States. In 2012 several albums were released; One EP followed by two albums. October 2013 saw the release of a new collaborative album with Sneek-based producer E.daBeatdetonator entitled "Back In Prime Form" on the Freshmess Music label. The first single was "Listen". Three years later another single from the album (“Wonder Years”), received an award for Best Hip Hop Song (January 2016) in America. In 2014 TRASE is back to the lab working on new material, because it’s about time for Hip Hop to resurface with true lyrics. With his latest release “The Travels of TRASE TRONIK”, which has been recorded between 2014 and 2017, TRASE continues his career as an solo artist. On this seventh studio album TRASE has worked with several national and international producers, which gives the overall outlook of the project a real diverse sound. Heavily nineties Hip Hop experienced like all TRASE albums, TRASE sets the vibe for a 45 minute ride through all kinds of subjects. To promote the album three singles and videos have been released so far. The album also will be digitally available through all top digital music services like Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, TIDAL and many more.

His large body of work supersedes his contemporaries exponentially in both quantity and quality as dozens of one-to-two hour long collections remain unpublished among his already vast expanse of releases. His electronic based sounds seem to organically transform and grow. Having been compared to peers as avant-garde as Matthewdavid, Venetian Snares and Satanicpornocultshop, it is no wonder his seemingly psychedelic-induced songs reflect better the complexities of a creature than a song itself. Smark may as well be a scientist mixing sounds in place of chemicals, constantly creating and reinventing new species of life. |

Search | Add | 12 | Иван Жадан | Иван Данилович Жадан | Ukrainian, later American, tenor vocalist (born September 9, 1902, Lugansk, Ukraine – died February 15, 1995, St. John, Virgin Islands, USA). Born into a family of factory workers, Ivan Jadan learned the trade of blacksmith, but began singing in a church choir. During military service, he became the first singer of the regiment and joined a vocal group that performed operatic arias. In 1923, with a recommendation from Stalin's friend, Marshal Voroshilov, he was accepted into the Moscow Conservatory. Working as a blacksmith instructor at the air force academy to make ends meet, Jadan had his first chance to perform on the radio in 1926. A year later, he was accepted into the Bolshoi's operatic studio, then directed by Konstantin S. Stanislavky. In July 1928, he was hired by the Bolshoi Theater, first as singer of supporting roles, soon as a soloist, performing, for example, the "Song of the Indian Guest" in Rimsky-Korskov's opera "Sadko" and the role of Prince Sinodal in Anton Rubinstein's opera “Demon” (1929). Other leading roles include Werther in Jules Massenet's opera "Werther" and Lensky in Pyotr Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin." Jadan toured all over the Soviet Union. Between 1928 and 1937, he also recorded more than a dozen operatic arias and Russian romances for a number of Soviet labels. In 1935, he and several other Russian artists successfully toured Turkey where the first president of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, presented him with a golden cigarette case. In 1937, Jadan enjoyed a huge triumph as Lensky in Riga, Latvia. He extended his stay so that he could perform in "Faust" and "Rigoletto" as well, and the Soviet ambassador to Latvia arranged for him to have his costumes for these roles flown to Riga on a special plane. Jadan's subsequent request, however, to extend his stay even more so he could also perform in neighboring Estonia and Lithuania was denied. Jadan fell into disfavor with Stalin, was no longer invited to the Kremlin, received lowered concert wages, and was allowed to sing only in "Eugene Onegin" and "Demon" from then on. The final break, however, came in 1941. Jadan had evacuated his family from Moscow to his dacha in Manikhino, east of Leningrad, when the village was caught in the German advance. Facing certain deportation to a Gulag if he remained in Manikhino, Jadan and his family followed the German army's retreat. In 1943 and 1944, he made a few recordings for the German [l=Polydor] label in Berlin. In November 1944, he performed at a concert for the Russian Liberation Army that Nazi Germany had formed out of Soviet prisoners of war. After the war, Jadan and his family ended up as displaced persons in Offenbach/Main. In 1948, he managed to immigrate to the United States. He was unable, however, to resume his singing career. He gave a few concerts before mostly Russian audiences, including one in Carnegie Hall. Then he moved the warmer climate of Florida, where he, accompanied by pianist Adela H. Gonzmart, gave a series of concerts between 1952 and 1954. The concerts were recorded by the [l=Sadko] label, but a comeback eluded him. In 1955, he relocated to St. John in the Virgin Islands, where he worked as mason on one of the Rockefeller farms. He gave his last concert on St. John in January 1966. |

Search | Add | 12 | Preliminary Saturation | Wouter Jaspers, Steffan de Turck | Preliminary Saturation is the electro-acoustic, free improv, drone-duo in which Dutch sound artists Wouter Jaspers and Steffan de Turck combine their forces. To some extent, both might be better known for their solo-projects: Franz Fjodor and staplerfahrer, respectively. As Franz Fjodor, Jaspers displays a fascination for the darker side of life; with self-made instruments he creates a sound that shippers between droning soundscapes, depressed noise and dark folk. His style signature varies with his mood: from psycho chants to punk screams, from guitar oriented drones to field recordings. De Turck plays around with crunched and broken (micro)sounds, electro-magnetic waves and noise. Sometimes in a back-to-basics analogue setting, other times solemnly using his powerbook. Every once and a while, they come together in the safe harbor of one of their living rooms, pop open a bottle of wine, light some cigarettes and start improvising as long as the mood is right. |

Search | Add | 12 | The Mid-States 4 | The Mid-States Four is the Barbershop Harmony Society's 1949 International Quartet Champion. First formed in 1942 as the Bell & Howell 4 with George Kledzik on tenor, Marty Mendro on lead, Forest “Forry” Haynes on baritone, and Bob Corbett on bass. The group changed their name to “Mid-States 4” when they left Bell & Howell and went to work for Mid-State Insurance and they sponsored the quartet. They competed in their first international contest in 1945 and placed 6th, they repeated as 6th place in 1946. That same year they won the Illinois District championship. Following that contest, Bob Rodriguez (later known as Bob Mack) replaced George Kledzik as tenor. In 1947, Arthur “Art” Gracey joined them as bass replacing Bob Corbett who was forced to leave due to job demands. They were 3rd place bronze medalists in 1947 and 2nd place silver medalists in 1948. They won it all in 1949 in Buffalo, NY. Following their victory in 1949 they went on to travel the country singing for hundreds of thousands of people. In 1950, the Mid-States 4 traveled to Korea for the U.S. troops singing 33 shows in 13 days. The Mid-States 4 went on to become well known for their slapstick comedy on stage and using musical instruments with their barbershop singing. They released three albums during their time together. In late 1957, Marty Mendro dropped out of the quartet due to job commitments and was replaced by Dick Mangunson for a short period of time until he returned around 1959. The Mid-States 4 retired in 1966 after 24 years of singing together. Mendro relocated to Arizona and Mack and Haynes relocated to Florida. They had a few reunions in the late 60’s and early 70’s. Art Gracey died in 1979. In 1982, Marty Mendro relocated to Florida and he, Bob Mack, and Forry Haynes decided to get the Mid-States 4 back together with Phil Hansen replacing the late Art Gracey as bass. They actively sang together on shows again until the spring of 1988 when Bob Mack died. Their final performance was in July of 1988 on the 1988 AIC Show in San Antonio, TX with Don Barnick of Grandma’s Boys and Keepsake filling in on tenor. Marty Mendro died in 2010, Phil Hansen died in 2012, and Forry Haynes died in 2014.

Search | Add | 12 | James Kimbrough | Born in 1926, on a cotton farm near Florence, Alabama, USA. He was attracted to country music by recordings he heard as a child, first by the Carter Family and then in the late 30s, the recordings of Roy Acuff. He was particularly drawn to the sound of the dobro on Acuff’s recordings and was totally impressed by the playing of Pete Kirby. During service in the US Navy during World War II, Kimbrough met Kirby and bought one of his old dobro guitars. He recalled years later that ‘By the time I got it, it was the most beat up dobro you ever saw but it still had the sound and I was the happiest person in the world’. After the war, Kimbrough returned to the farm and although he never became a full time musician, he played and sang with various groups. A dedicated traditionalist, his Vocals work was reminiscent of Acuff’s. He also wrote many songs such as the biographical ‘Sundown At Our Old Home Place’ and dobro instrumentals but did not record until 1973. During the 80s, he formed his own Kimbro Records and also had releases on Cattle, a German label.

But, during the disco-era, from 1977 to 1979, the orchestra both skipped the last word Brass and also played disco music. In 1981, there was another style change and back was what it all started with in 1968, and that is what the orchestra still performs, i.e. dance music at dance venues. Members in the orchestra between 2009 and 2014 were [a1791382] - vocals, guitar, saxophone; [a1791359] - bass, backing vocals; [a1791373] - keyboards, accordion, vocals; Simon Åhs - drums, vocals. In 2015, Jörgen and Simon were replaced by [a1791368] - keyboards, accordion, vocals; Thomas Andreasson - drums. In 2018, Tomas Edström left the orchestra and is since then replaced by [a3502393]. Search | Add | 12 | Dr. Bontempi's Snake Oil Company | Frenetically celebrated at festivals in the USA and England: what started as a small side project has blossomed into an insider tip for folk fans and friends of old country & western music from all over the world! No wonder, because - WHERE can you still hear something like that nowadays, let alone see it live and in color? The Snake Oil Company of Dr. Bontempi (known among other things as the lead singer of the MONTESAS) serves top notch authentic, wild, old dance music, snappy hillbilly blues stomp and ecstatic western swing - with doghouse bass, percussion guitar, fiddle, double-neck steel guitar, electric guitar and choir singing - and brings their whole own versions of old hits from the Wild West of the 30s to 50s. Whenever Dr. Bontempi's SNAKE OIL Company strikes up for a barn dance, it swings and sways, rocks and rolls like in a saloon from the black and white western films. And as if that wasn't enough, the snake oil company appears in proper style in pointy boots, suit trousers and western shirts. As a little extra treat, you can can even take Dr. Bontempi's original snake oil home with you, but - BE CAREFUL! Just one drop a day! Miss Ira-Lee - Rhythm guitar & vocals Miss Franny-Lee - fiddle & vocals Björn Kunze - Bullfiddle & vocals Dr. Marcel Bontempi - Electric guitar, steel guitar & vocals

Search | Add | 12 | Unpleasant Surprise | Named after a song of [a=The Nits] the multi instrumentalist sisters Daniela and Jeannette Schwabel founded the group in West Berlin early 1986. Jeanette played Drums, Guitar, Mandolin, Accordion - Daniela Bass, Guitar, Drums, Mandolin and both sung. Before their first live appearance the line-up was expanded with Peter Wanke (Keyboards, Vocals) and Martina Schmidbauer (Guitar, Vocals). In 1987 they self-released their first eponymous Cassette and got into street performing until late Autumn as 'Sidekick Surprise'. Peter and Martina left the group in August 1988 so they continued recording as Duo until Martin Trapp (Keyboards, Accordion, Bass) joined in April '89. With him they won the 1989 'Berlin Rock News' competition and as price valuable studio time. After nearly 10 self released cassettes in 1991 their first full length collection 'Wrong Way, Right Picture' appeared on [l=Irre Tapes] and finally in 1993 a 7" EP. Jürgen Oeser - their 'best boy', caterer and sound man from the beginning got credited as honourable member. After a few more Cassette Only releases and concerts Unpleasant Surprise ceased activities after 1996. They called their music themselves "Surprise Pop" - too poppy for the avant-garde and too experimental for the contemporary pop scene.
