Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 29/07/2025
Found 602638 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

"A Wal*Mart Christmas" was James, performatively known as the Lovebunny and I tried to see if we could make enough noise in Walmart to get kicked out on Christmas Eve 1999. No one even reprimanded us. "The Table Is Neutral" is me and my friend A.T. fucking around and is definitely the piece where I learned about the awesome power of the tape loop, and "1.1.00." It's me conducting, A.T., Shea, Adam Schutzman (the night I met him) and my high school friend Hannah Winkler, they're all reading different books I'd given them, save for A.T. who's just improvising a bunch of intellectual nonsense which is still what he does constantly every day of his damn life. -Id M Theft Able

Search | Add | 2 | The Caffrey Brothers | Phil, Peter, & Paul Caffrey started in the band Arbre in the 1970's who made 2 albums for DJM Records. Following some critical but not commercial success, they renamed the band 'Caffrey' and recorded for Phonogram, but with even less success. Phil had a song he co-wrote with George Lamb recorded by Kiki Dee and did session backing vocals for Saxon and others. The brothers' next band project was 'The Lion's Share' but again widespread acclaim eluded them. In 1999 the brothers decided to form one more band together. Booking into Newcastle’s Cluny Studios with the cream of local musicians, they began to record and simultaneously return to playing live gigs. Buoyed by the critical and public acclaim afforded to their live shows (standing room only being the order of the day) they released their debut ('The Caffrey Brothers') nationally in 2000, following growing demand. A further album followed in 2002 titled 'Face On My T-Shirt' with the band now simply 'The Caffreys', youngest brother Paul left in 2015 and the current line-up features Phil and Peter alongside Michael Bailey (Bass, Vocals), David Moore (Guitar) and Rachel Bailey (Violin/Accordion).

Search | Add | 2 | Saadoun Al-Bayati | Saadoun Al-Bayati, born in Baghdad, Iraq, is the son of an ardhahalchi or paralegal fluent in Arabic, Turkish and Kurdish and a Sufi woman of the Na'imiyya order. As a child, while attending Sufi rituals and ceremonies with his mother and maternal uncle, Shaykh Jasim Abd al-Sittar, Saadoun was exposed to the meditative states produced through sustained percussion and vocalizing. His voice training took place through Qur'anic recitation in which fine precision in achieving correct tones and articulation of words in required. As a young man, Saadoun often substituted for the muezzin at his neighborhood mosque in the Al-Fadhl section of Old Baghdad, calling Muslims to prayer. Having internalized the spiritual essence of a Middle Eastern/Islamic aesthetic, Saadoun has performed the music of Iraq and other parts of the Arab Middle East since childhood. In the United States Saadoun pursued studies in acting and graduated from the Goodman Theatre at the Art Institute of Chicago. His many accomplishments as an actor included playing Dr. Aziz to Lillian Gish's Mrs. Moore in "A Passage to India" and working with such theatrical talents as Morris Carnovsky in "Mother Courage" and "King Lear "and Sam Wanamaker in "MacBeth." But throughout his life and studies, music has been a focal point for his intense musical energies. Saadoun thus decided to learn the oud or unfretted version of the lute, initially to better understand the musical structures of Middle Eastern music - specifically the maqamat or modal structures, with their distinct ascending and descending scales - and eventually to provide a reliable support for his singing voice (not easy, when one has perfect pitch). Saadoun was fortunate to be able to learn from close personal friends such as the pre-eminent Nubian musician Hamza El-Din, the Lebanese musician George Khayyat, and the Syrian oud-player Hussny El-Zaim. He has performed at concerts and night clubs in many parts of the United States. Saadoun's unique musical expression emanates from the depth of his soul and transcends all geographical boundaries. A voice that stirs profound emotions and a technique that is at once powerful and sensuous represent the highest level of artistic expression." (From his website) Songs of Iraq was arranged and performed entirely by Saadoun Al-Bayati in 1973.

Search | Add | 2 | La'verne Washington | LaVerne has dedicated her life to the arts in every possible way. As an artist herself but also behind the scenes, helping and supporting her contemporaries fulfil their callings. Charlie Parker, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Mary Lou Williams - LaVerne grew up in Kansas City listening to the all time jazz greats, and soon discovered she was blessed with a keen sense for playing music by ear, playing the piano to what she would hear on the radio. In her teens whilst the 60s transitioned to the 70s’ disco and funk era, LaVerne was there to witness it all, and she would go on to study music at the Charlie Parker Academy where she was inspired to become an entertainer. At Langston University, LaVerne kept studying music where her career blossomed, founding and touring the US with the gospel group “Emery Shaw and the Voices of Praise”, singing in several college bands and with her choir “The Voices Of Bethel”. LaVerne would go on to perform notably with her bands “LaVerne Washington and Rococo” and the “LaVerne Washington Quartet”, and record several songs in KC including “The Promise” and “I Found What I’ve Been Searching For” in 1984 before moving to Washington DC. In DC, LaVerne was offered a position as a Program specialist with the National Endowment For The Arts where she started supporting other artists through her work. Over the next couple decades, LaVerne became an associate producer for the Rhythm and Blues Foundation and the Pioneer Awards Ceremonies held in New York, Philadelphia and Los Angeles, which saw the likes of Prince, Aretha Franklin and Jerry Butler attending among others. She has also managed and was mentored by DeeDee Sharp and consulted with artists including Bonnie Raitt (who acted as a mentor to Laverne as well), Kim Weston, Kathy Sledge (SisterSledge), Smokey Robinson and G.C Cameron (Spinners). During that time, LaVerne has kept singing, on her own and as a backing vocalist for DeeDee Sharp and Freda Payne and has never stopped her lifelong dedication to music and the Arts.

In fact, most of the tunes were smash hits in their time...a time when jazz was close to being the popular music of the day. Charts were made by transcribing from 78 rpm records.

Search | Add | 2 | The Northettes | The Northettes were a vocal trio made up of [a293747], [a150887] and [a315251]. Although they are most famous for contributing to [l=Hatfield And The North]’s two studio albums, the first released in January 1974, the girls had sung together in 1971/72 in Dave Stewart & Chris Cutler led Ottawa Music Company which, sadly, left no recorded legacy. Between the Hatfields two albums, they also sang on [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/304008-Egg-2]Egg[/url]’s 1974 album The Civil Surface. After Hatfield And The North broke up, Barbara Gaskin sang in various musical projects like Red Roll On, [a=Bruford] and [a=National Health]. She later formed a successul duo with ex-Hatfield and partner [a=Dave Stewart]. Amanda went on to sing with the earlier line-ups of National Health and made several appearances in other projects involving Dave Stewart, while having a job for television. Ann Rosenthal adandonned her musical activities to work as a business analyst and management consultant. The sound of The Northettes has been described as heavenly and angelic; voices that can lift the spirit and soothe the soul. Their harmonies certainly added new dimension to the music of Hatfield And The North. Their singing on top of the jazz-tinged progressive rock that the band played was unlike anything ever recorded before and still sounds fresh and unique today.

The group disbanded in 1986 after their last album with Mercury, "Burning Love" (1986). Beginning in the early 1990s, Mercury Records, its affiliated labels, and overseas imprints began releasing Con Funk Shun material like "The Best of Con Funk Shun", "The Best of Con Funk Shun, Vol. 2 (1996), "Greatest Hits" (1998), "The Ballads Collection (1998), "The Millennium Collection (2002), "The Collection (2002)", and "The Definitive CD (2006). Songs which Louis performed on have been on the soundtracks of feature films like "Gone In 60 Seconds" and "Next Friday". After Con Funk Shun, McCall went on to become an event producer, putting together a 1992 star-studded benefit for actor/activist Danny Glover at San Francisco's Fairmont Hotel. In 1995, he moved to Atlanta, GA with his wife, music business consultant and songwriter Linda Lou McCall. Their company, The Entertainment Qartel, Inc., was instrumental as part of the marketing team for such artists as Eminem, Mya, Black-Eyed Peas, Tupac, Puff Daddy, and Three-6 Mafia, to name a very few. One of Con Funk Shun's ballads, "Honey Wild", written by Louis, Linda Lou and Danny A. Thomas, was sampled by rap superstar Lil Wayne for "Kush" on his hit selling CD "Tha Carter 3" released in June 2008. Louis was murdered on June 25 1997 in Stone Mountain, Georgia, during a home invasion robbery in Stone Mountain, GA. His wife, Linda Lou, fought for a decade to keep the case opened, even going so far as having the governor reopen the case in 2003. Finally, on January 18, 2007, a suspect was indicted and arrested in April 2007. The case finally went to trial in July 2008 in Dekalb County, Georgia. However, when the case went to the jury for deliberation, Judge Gregory Adams declared a mistrial. After consulting with Linda Lou, the prosecutor decided to retry the case until more evidence was uncovered. The case was ultimately dismissed without prejudice.
