Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 5 Cesare Marcher When used for writer's credits artist [a=Cesare] usually used his last name as well, he's credited either as Cesare Marcher, C. Marcher or just Marcher. Before computers ruled the world, Cesare Marcher was performing turntable duties on a variety of releases, adding live mix-blending, beats and scratches for the likes of KLF, Adrian Sherwood, Alien Sex Fiend, Psychic TV, Zeus B Held and was spinning all over London's clubland. Using his trademark cross-genre style, he went on to remix and session-DJ on many late '80s dance releases and perform in clubs around the world. It was around this time that he formed part of the Gee Street Records production team, which under different group names and member combinations, was responsible for most of the label's early releases including remixes for the US artists licenced at that time. Today he also writes music for games, film and TV.

Eddie DeSade pursue the rabbit-holes in music that many other musicians have the good taste to leave alone.

Search Add 5 Iain Flitcroft Iain was born in Preston, Lancashire. The family loved music and Iain quickly expressed a desire to play the piano. Lessons began at the age of 6 and by the age of 15, Iain had passed all 8 Grades with the Royal School of Music. At the age of 10, Iain joined the church choir and was enthralled by the sound of the pipe organ. So at the age of 12, having reached Grade 6 on the Piano, Iain was regularly deputising for church services and by 16 was organist and choirmaster of his own church, St Paul’s Faringdon, Preston. As a Christmas present Iain was given an LP of William Davies playing the Granada Kingston Wurlitzer. This was followed by a trip with his parents to Blackpool Tower and an Organist Association visit to the Paramount Organ Studios in Bolton. By the end of this, Iain was hooked on the sound of the Theatre Organ. Iain’s Father was determined to find the best possible teacher and contacted Ernest Broadbent in Blackpool. Ernest had retired a couple of years earlier as Resident Organist at the Tower Ballroom where he had taken over from Reginald Dixon. Ernest agreed to take Iain on as a pupil. Iain eventually spent three years playing for First Leisure in Blackpool on the piers, In the Winter Gardens and, of course, in the world famous Tower Ballroom. Since then, Iain has played virtually all of the theatre organ venues in the UK as well as regular concert trips to Holland

Search Add 5 Marios Joannou Elia Marios Joannou Elia Elia’s international breakthrough came in 2011, with the première at Mannheim's Central Square of the one-hour multimedia symphony Autosymphonic, performed by the spectacular combined forces of the SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden and Freiburg, the SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart, Stuttgart State Opera Children’s Chorus, 80 automobiles of all types and eras ‘played’ by 120 young musicians, Xavier Naidoo and Söhne Mannheims! According to a study by the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University, Autosymphonic achieved a TV/media audience of nearly two billion. Since then, Elia has been widely accepted as an innovative mastermind of contemporary culture and has attracted the attention of the mass media. The Südwest Presse wrote: ‘Monumentalist: Elia is considered in the music world to be the man for monumental events’, while The New York Times, Deutsche Welle, Reuters and ARD – among others – have also praised his work. Even before this, his compositions had been regularly performed throughout Europe, Asia and America – his 80-minute opera Die Jagd (2008), for example, was praised for its ‘idiosyncratic sound worlds’ (Die Welt). Born in 1978, Elia studied composition with Adriana Hölszky at the Salzburg Mozarteum and musicology at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. In 2004, inspired by the Aristotelian polyaesthetic conception, he developed The Concept of Polymediality. He was awarded a PhD from the University of Southampton in 2010, supervised by the British composer Michael Finnissy. Elia’s oeuvre of more than 70 pieces to date is multifaceted not only for the diversity of its stylistic musical genres but also for the variety of its intended performance venues. It includes works for opera houses and concert halls – for example, the Berlin Philharmonie and the Warsaw Philharmonic Concert Hall, and the state opera houses of Hannover, Stuttgart and Skopje, as well as unusual venues, such as Salzburg Airport and Mirabell Gardens, the Transparent Factory of Volkswagen in Dresden and the eight-storey building of the Ministry for Science and Culture of Lower Saxony. Renowned orchestras, ensembles and soloists, such as the Sinfonietta of the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig, Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Recherche, Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble and the Austrian Ensemble for New Music have performed his works. Elia has been awarded prestigious international prizes, including the Lutoslawski and the Serocki Awards in Warsaw (2004 and 2008), the Edison Denisov Prize in Moscow (2007), the Luciano Berio Prize in New York (2010), the BMW Prize in Munich (2005) and the Gold Apple of FAMAB for Germany’s best innovative public event (2012). Besides his activity as a composer, Elia has worked as the artistic director of large-scale projects and innovative polymedia events, including the European Capital of Culture initiative (2013–15), the Highlight Celebrations for the Invention of the Car (2009–12), described by The Huffington Post as ‘one of the world’s more remarkable symphony concerts’, and the Tallest Church in the World (2013–15).

In the blues menu, we currently serve mainly our own songs (Tadeusz's compositions and lyrics) but we are also willing to use the canon of blues-rock standards. We have performed at many prestigious festivals and in renowned music clubs not only in Poland, but also in the Czech Republic, Germany and Kazakhstan. The band collaborated with Michał "Cielak" Kielak (ŚGB, Kasa Chorych), Sławomir Piwowar (SBB, Niemen Aerolit), Magda Piskorczyk, Andrzej Brzeski (Paradox), Krzysztof "Wojskowy" Mandziara (Budka Suflera, Cross, Recydywa B.B.), Andrzej Jerzy Nowak (Niemen Aerolit, Piwnica pod Baranami).

The concept of the band is simple. It's a band about three things: 1) love, 2) dinosaurs, and 3) flying saucers. Fully equipped with these three essentials the Secret B-Sides are here on the planet, ready to help the people of Earth get together, feel a little sexy, and have some good, clean fun--to the sound of drums, electric bass, keys, and nylon-stringed guitar, finished with a vinyl-smooth vocal. Search Add 5 Dorian Passante Kenneth Dorian Passante Originally released in 1977 but apparently recorded at least a couple years before, the “Dorian” LP was supposed to launch Dorian (Kenneth Dorian Passante, 1948-1994) as a glam rock artist. The name Dorian Zero (with different variations such as Dorian & Zero, Dorian Zero Revue and so on) was his band name, but seems to also stick to his own persona. The album and a single taken from it were also documented by John Holmstrom in a memorable – and disastrous – inteview on Punk Magazine #14 (1978). Omitting to credit the other musicians involved in the making of the LP – including guitarist [a=Jeff Beck] on “Destination Nowhere” and “Inside Looking Out” – Dorian declared on the original album cover “I have no one to thank for this album but myself”. Before recording the album, Dorian had been on an elusive 7" single released in 1969 by [l=B.T. Puppy Records], the record label founded by [a=The Tokens], with a track written by [a=Brute Force (2)] ([a=Stephen Friedland]). Other tracks were only fixed on acetates and remained unreleased. Some are entirely lost. In 2022, a previously unreleased reggae track from 1975, "In Transit to Bermuda", recorded at [l=Electric Lady Studios] by [a=Eddie Kramer], was included in Episode 3 of Stranger Things 4 (Vol.1) and in the Stranger Things Official Playlist.

Search Add 5 Pionirski dom The "Pionirski Dom" Residence is an international studio (audio) meeting that connects the contemporary music with authorship in poetry. It is a platform for international co-operation and partnership in the field of exchange of ideas, programmes and projects, of the mobility of artists as well as of the affirmation of the contemporary music and literary expression. Apart from its dedication to music and literary expression, this co-operation interferes with the new technologies as well. The combination of contemporary music genres and contemporary poetry indicates complexity of a programme that should grow with the expressibility of its kindred artists. The programme foresees a synchronicity of artistic expressions from the idea towards the resulting working process, the appliance and the development of the latest technology of sound engineering and last but not least, a live performance that will be recorded and released. The updated contemporary approach of the Residence includes the development of new directions in the very approach to production of sounds and spoken words as well as an open-minded attitude about every music genre paving thus the way for new potential and opportunities for interaction.

Search Add 5 Metalycée Armin Steiner, Nik Hummer, Bernhard Breuer, Matija Schellander, Melita Jurisic Ashes to ashes, dust to dust... Sound. Experiment. Avant-garde. Ashes. Dust. Metal. From a disc of fully digitally processed drum and guitar samples developed in 2003 by Viennese sound artists Armin Steiner and Nik Hummer (who as part of Thilges3 operated on the cutting edge of art, noise and politics ) emerged the project Metalycée. A telling name, which tells of cerebral hardness, of guttural fantasy. A name, which does not give too much away. Since two years drummer Bernhard Breuer, bass guitarist Matija Schellander and singer Melita Jurisic completed the experimental growth, which did not evolve without consequence: The new album “It Is Not” belongs to another, more surreal tryst, between Free Jazz, Metal and, now, to HipHop. Those who need to name genres, may add Free Rap, even HipDrone, but nobody really needs categories. Above all, what concerns Metalycée is not awkward genre deconstructions, nor aimless experimentals. The concern is the whole, sublime truth of the sound. This truth is: there are no boundaries. “It Is Not” indicates that subtlety can also be deafening, that the most intensive noise can also consist of finesse. Or, more figuratively: “It Is Not” walks with a map of the South Bronx through Norwegian swamps, cesspools of beats, geysers of noise that break into industrial mud slicks. And over all that, over little death bells and deathly basses, comes the lyric furor of Melita Jurisic: Ashes to ashes, dust to dust…

Search Add 5 Charivari Trio The Charivari Trio was established in 1986 and initially played a broad repertory of folk music. Gradually, the trio developed a special preference for gipsy and Latin American music. Between 1989 and 1995, the trio formed the heart of tango orchestra Nachtschade and klezmer group Kalarash. Since 1992, various composers such as Joop van Erven, Dolf de Kinkelder, Michiel Braam, and Joep Everts, were commissioned to write new repertory. The trio organizes the yearly Charivarifestival with concerts and workshops for amateur musicians. After ten years of Charivari, a selection of their repertory appeared on the CD Romance de Barrio. Subsequently, Hora Sentimental was delivered, a collage of traditional and new Eastern European music. The CD ¡ABRE! consists of a mixture of Latin American and gipsy music. The Charivari Trio took part in several theater productions, such as Ethisch Reveil, after a text by Dirkje Kuik, with theater group InDependance (1986) , Liefdesportretten, with music by Andries van Rossem and with De Plaats (1998), and GILGAMESH, with actor Frank Groothof and with Stichting Vrije Val (2002-2003).

Search Add 5 NuKeMOuT Aaron Mitchell Newcomb American Electro-Industrial artist Born: September 29, 1983 in Texas, USA Died: July 14, 2019 in Minnesota, USA (aged 35) NuKeMOuT was a periodically active industrial artist. Beginning to write and produce music in the early 2000's, he was active from circa. 2004-2015. NuKeMOuT would later be diagnosed with a form of stomach cancer in the summer of 2018. He would unfortunately pass away from this on July 14th of 2019. Some of his musical works did not have the chance to be fully and officially released before his passing.
