Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Cicilia Kemezys [From: https://music.cass.anu.edu.au/people/cicilia-kemezys] Australian flautist/vocalist/composer Cicilia Kemezys has been performing in a variety of genres from jazz, Latin through to Indian music since she graduated from the Canberra School of Music Jazz course in 1991. In the 1990s she performed in the popular Celtic Jazz group Straight Ahead as well as the Indian world music group Dya Singh. She went on many tours throughout Australia and internationally, taking her to jazz, folk and other festivals throughout Asia, Europe and Canada. In 1997, she toured France and Spain with an Australian indigenous dance group as part of the Folkloric Festival de Pyrenees. In 1998 she received a Canberra critics award as a member of Straight Ahead. In the late 90’s, she turned to her long time love of Brazilian music, forming a Brazilian jazz trio jazz guitarist Stephen J Scott. This led to performances at the Brazilian Embassy in Canberra and in Brazil, performing and teaching jazz flute workshops in the northern state of Alagoas. In Rio de Janeiro she recorded an album Espirito Do Brasil with local Brazilian musicians followed by performances at the Thredbo Jazz Festival and Sydney’s Manly International Jazz Festival. In 2001, Cicilia travelled to the Middle East to work as a music teacher and later as a resident musician in several five star Hotels in Bahrain and Kuwait. In the mid 2000’s, Cicilia began performing with Alma Latin Voices and Rhythms directed by Chilean-Australian Marisol Pacheco. The choir performed in Cuba in 2005 at the annual Festival de Santiago. Most recently, Cicilia Kemezys has been living in Canberra, performing in both jazz and folk genres. She helped formed a group called PACHAMAMA with two Chilean born musician singers, Marisol Pacheco and Jorge Bontes, and longtime friend Tony Hunter (mandolin/ Bouzouki). They were scheduled to perform at Australia’s National Folk Festival at Easter in 2020 until the Covid-19 virus pandemic brought everything to halt.

They did a short tour and a bunch of local shows, cut a demo and a tape, and that's about it. The name comes from an episode of Law & Order SVU. SNOE is not whatsoever endorsing white supremacy, nazism, or anything of the sort. The name was meant to be absurd and humorous.

Search Add 2 OMBRA OBSCVRA Jorge Gisbert Soler OMBRA OBSCVRA began producing electronic music at the early age of 15 along with a group of friends. He has grown up in the middle of the era of VHS, cassette tapes and CD-ROM, and he has always experimented to try to find different sounds giving value to the failure and the error. A few years after he forged his hobby and it became a necessity, he began experimenting with ambient music and noise, embracing and alternating with other musical styles over time. His unfathomable influences could be summed up in artists such as Holy Other, Nosaj Thing, Balam Acab, Dame, Adapt, Shlohmo and Christian Löffler among others. His music is an environmental landscape evolution that travels between different styles, such as down tempo, dub, ambient and even IDM, all deformed and compacted under his personal and characteristic of vision, which wants to ‘touch’ something within those who listen to it. OMBRA OBSCVRA is a particularly evasive and private artist, valuing the mystery surrounding it as a byproduct of stage fright and an initial desire to keep the project anonymous for as long as possible. Despite having performed in various festivals under different pseudonyms and musical proposals.

Search Add 2 Nathu Buwa Nathu Buwa Amravatikar Nathu Buwa Amravatikar Birth - circa 1895, Death – 1944 - A biographical note written by Dr Chaitanya Kunte, Pune, India (keshavchaitanya@gmail.com) Nathhu Buwa Amaravatikar belongs to a family of musicians who practiced Kathak dance and Tabla. The family hailed from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. His elder brother Tularam was a Tabla player. Nathu Buwa came to Amravati when he was 8-years old. He was called as ‘Nathu Buwa Amravatikar’ or ‘Nathu Buwa Tawde’. He started learning music with Namdev Buwa Amravatikar who in turn was a disciple of Ustad Maula Baksh of Baroda state. Nathu Buwa had a high pitched, sonorous and flexible voice. Upon Namdev Buwa’s demise in 1926, Nathu Buwa started ‘Namdev Buwa Prasadik Gayan Samaj’, a music school in the memory of his Guru, in Amaravati. Around 1932, he came to Mumbai and joined ‘Yashvant Sangeet Natak Mandali’ of Shankar Rao Sarnaik. He acted in a few plays. But soon left the theater company. During 1932 to 1935, he was a regular broadcaster on Bombay Radio. He started a music school in Charni road area of Mumbai called ‘Aryan Music College’. But he left Mumbai for concert tours, with giving charge of this music school to his nephew, Dattoba Tawde. Dattoba ran this music school for many years, but with the name ‘Adarsh Sangeet Vidyalaya’. Nathu Buwa used to visit Ujjain, Indore, Aheri state, Parva state for yearly concerts on some special occasions. Around 1935-36, Nathu Buwa left Mumbai for concerts and returned to Amaravati. Soon after that, he shifted to Nagpur. He started ‘National Music College’, a music school situated at Aluwala building in Sitabardi area of Nagpur. He published a book ‘Sangeet Sadhana’ in 1944. His major disciples in the Vidarbha were Dattoba Tawde (nephew), Prahlad Kolhapure, Namdev Varekar, Mahadev Patil, Gajanan Kothekar, Madhusudan Tamhankar. Nathu Buwa suffered from Pyorrhea and was admitted to Mayo Hospital in Nagpur, where he passed away in 1944. He has cut 78 rpm shellac records on Broadcast & Columbia labels around 1937-1940 References: 1. Mangarulkar, N. R. (1976). Vaidarbhiya Sangeetkar – Part 2. Vijaya Mangarulkar, Nagpur. 2. Search Add 2 A.M.M.O A.M.M.O (Aligned Minds Mentally Organised) are an East/South London Hip-Hop collective that first started making music back in Autumn 2001. Its members include Cariz (MC), Keelow (MC), Kaan (Producer) and Fatal-E (DJ). They met via darkerthanblue.com, a popular Hip-Hop forum website at the time, where they would trade rhymes, and where Kaan would often share his beats. Even while they were online, they just seemed to click - all showing mutual respect for each other’s work. I guess you could say that they are a product of today’s technological times, as it was the best part of a year that passed before they finally met up in person. They eventually did, at WKD in Camden, to see a performance by the Funk/Hip-Hop band Dirtburg, of which Cariz is also a member, alongside lyricist Boneca. Later that year A.M.M.O first hit the studio, and churned out tunes like “The Pillage”, “H.O.P.E” and “Jazzikal”, which went on to win Ras Kwame’s home-grown cut of the week, when BBC Radio 1xtra was still just a few weeks old. Since then they have enjoyed frequent airplay from DJ Excalibah on 1xtra, and have had write-ups and reviews in Hip-Hop Connection, Undercover, and Big Smoke Magazine, which have all reinforced their much deserved hype. In August 2004, they dropped their Debut EP “The Slewage”, on the Armshouse Records imprint, which has received good reception from the scenes hip-hop purists, and has been tearing up the live circuit around London.

Search Add 2 Hordearii A nickname given to gladiators who fought for their freedom. A thing we still have to do this modern day. The music made by Hordearii can be identified as Death/Thrash metal from the heart of the Netherlands. Because of the broad musical taste of the bandmembers, there is a big variety of styles that can be heard throughout the songs. Different breaks are mixed with intense blastbeats on the drum, while the guitarists keep playing different fast riffs. This combination gives a modern sound, wearing a leather biker jacket.
