Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 05/01/2026

Found 619583 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 6 Gladys Carbò Gladys Lourdes Margarita Carbo Ramiro Garcia y de la Torre NY-based Cuban singer a.k.a. Havana Carbo. Died in the Berkshires, Massachusetts, on October 25, 2015. At age 3 she took to the piano and at 8 began formal lessons in Havana, where she was raised in an environment that celebrated music but viewed “nightclub” performing as inappropriate for a young lady. Jazz established residence in her soul during her NY High School years, but a budding career was cut short by marriage to a Cuban Economics major she met while a student at pre-Castro’s Villanova University in Havana. But twenty years, three marriages and four children later, with life’s experiences as a bonus, Havana finally went home to her passion – music. In 1984, Carbo created “Havana Midnight”, a latin/jazz group devoted to her arrangements of Latin American classics from her past, and the group met with instant success in the Berkshires where she resided. She produced an EP (Another Summer), which led to being signed by Soul Note in 1987 to record her first solo CD, “Street Cries”. It featured Gene Bertoncini, Michael Moore, Marvin Stamm and John Sauer. In ‘89 she was awarded a Mass Arts Grant. Carbo recorded or performed with such greats as Michael Moore, Jimmy Giuffre, Gene Bertoncini, Dario Eskenazi, Nilson Matta, Vince Cherico, John Benitez, Café, Chocolate Armenteros, Oriente Lopez, Helio Alves, Sean Smith, Diego Urcola, Edsel Gomez, Aaron Goldberg, John Di Martino, “El Negro”Hernandez, Café, LeoTraversa, the late Edson Machado, and a two-month run as vocalist with the legendary Chico O’Farrill Band. Since moving to NY she has appeared in major clubs from NY to the Caribbean, South Beach and Paris; venues as varied as Birdland, 55BAR, Lenox Lounge, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Smith College, Aaron Davis Hall, B.Smith’s, Lenox Lounge, Helsinki, the Barbados and Jamaica Jazz Festivals. Carbo has been featured guest on radio including WNYC, WFCR, WFDU, WBGO, WDNA Miami, XM Satellite Radio, WLUZ San Juan, and KLAS Jamaica. In the West Indies, the drink “Havana Carbo” was created in her honor at Kingston’s Redbones Blues Café.

Search Add 6 Serial Vice Serial Vice are an Heavy Metal band based in Southern Italy. The idea to found a band was born in 2011 from Alessandro Scorrano (drums) and Andrea Donaera (guitar). After some line-up changes, in 2013 another guitarist, Matteo Cirfeda, joins the project, and in the same year the band recorded the first single "Heroin". In the middle of 2014 bassist Stefano Bianchini and singer Giacomo Albanese joins Serial Vice: with this line-up, the band consolidates in live performances and profiling his sound into a Heavy Metal between classic and modern, gritty and melodic, with various and extensive influences - from Hard Rock to Thrash, from Doom to Power. Between January and February 2015 the band recorded his first EP "Nightmares Come True", with release finally scheduled for 2017 for Sliptrick Records label, and supported by the single "You Are Heroin" (new version of the song "Heroin"), a self-produced three songs demo and by an official video (Master of No-Life). In 2021, four years after the release of the band's highly acclaimed first work, the group releases the new single "The Edge of Fragility", which marks the end of the course started with the first album and the beginning of a new stylistic phase for the band.

Search Add 6 John Aue John Aue is a guitarist and bassist from Australia. Aue was born in Haarlem, the Netherlands and his passion for music was apparent at an early age. He learned to play the piano accordion at 9 years of age and developed an interest in the guitar. He migrated with his family to Adelaide, in 1961. In 1962 he had classical guitar lessons and taught himself some jazz (his favourite music). His first gig was in 1963, at the Wonderland Ballroom: a regular two-nights- a-week gig. This was a great way of learning the standard repertoire and developing his reading skills. During that period he started teaching guitar and took up double bass at school (Norwood Boys Technical High School - now known as Marryatville High School). Here John met [a1572047], his music teacher. Eric went on to become a major force in tertiary music education in South Australia. While in his early twenties, John wrote many jingles for Pepper Studios and Slater Studios and arranged extensively for the [a5033882] (ABC’s Light Entertainment Department). He also sang and arranged for the [a5538797] who recorded fortnightly for ABC radio. He was musical director at Channel 7 in the early 70’s and arranged and played bass for the weekly ‘Barry Ion Show’ and ‘The Penthouse Club’. In early 1976, John left Australia for England and was soon given the opportunity to play guitar, bass and mandolin with the Ballet Rambert, performing in London, England, Scotland, Paris and Yugoslavia (as it was then known). He joined Ray Ellington’s Band in 1978 playing a six nights-a-week residency at London’s The White Elephant on the River (1978-1982) and from 1982 to 1983 at the Hilton Roof Restaurant. John played sessions at: Capital Radio, Lansdowne Studios, and Wembley Studios. He worked with the Allan Ganley Big Band and many other smaller ensembles at the BBC Maida Vale Studios. Highlights include gigs and a BBC radio broadcast with virtuoso fusion guitarist Allan Holdsworth. Another highlight was meeting and playing with guitarist Jim Hall in 1982. John often deputised in The Ronnie Scott Quintet as well as playing with local and overseas jazz artists in Ronnie Scott’s Club. John returned to live in Sydney in 1983 and worked with local and visiting artists. He was bassist for Grace Knight and Marcia Hines during this time. John began his teaching career at the Australian Institute of Music and at Sydney Grammar School. Theatre gigs included Beauty and the Beast and Les Miserable and more. John Aue returned to Adelaide in 1999 and was pleased to continue to play in the local scene and teach arranging and jazz bass at The University of Adelaide. He gained a Masters degree in composition in 2011. John retired from teaching in July 2019 to concentrate on composing, arranging, and furthering his skills on the bass and guitar.

Search Add 6 The Soots The Soots were, to all intent and purpose, a result of musical collaborations which revolved around the early work of Frank Zappa and Don Vliet - both of whom had been connected via their attendance at Antelope Valley's seats of learning. It was here that Vliet had been coaxed into his first known vocal work, a 'field recording' of "Lost In A Whirlpool" with Frank Zappa, his brother Bobby and a class tutor. A rather avant-garde number in which the boy (like a dead pet goldfish) is flushed down the toilet by his girlfriend and comes face-to-face with a large brown eyeless fish. The band referred to as "The Soots" existed in the early to mid 1960's. The period during which Zappa was residing in Paul Buff's PAL Studio in Cucamonga, then finally purchasing it in the summer of 1964 and officially turning it into 'Studio Z'. Vliet would drop by on his Helms Bread truck delivery route and hang out with the various musicians at the studio. Don Vliet had yet to officially adopt the lyric-writing nom de plume of "Don Van Vliet" and the persona of "Captain Beefheart" on a recording. Zappa, meanwhile, was busy developing concepts that would get his work a contract, one of which was a tentative 'operetta' entitled "Captain Beefheart & The Grunt People". The script of this being inspired from the germ of Vliet's nickname Beefheart and Vliet's family, 'Marvel' comics, TV sci-fi and America's growing fascination in space exploration. Such inspirations led to The Soots recording of "Metal Man Has Won His Wings" and other recordings in the given period. Some can be found on Zappa issues, such as "The Lost Episodes" or "Mystery Disc" [on which "The Birth Of Captain Beefheart" can be found] or on several unofficial recordings.

Search Add 6 Heralders' Quartet "The Heralders Quartet was formed when four young men whose lives were committed to Christ, started singing together spontaneously one night, just for fun. In just a few years their sound has become a very familiar one throughout Michigan and elsewhere in the Mid-West. Many of their recordings can be heard at any time of the day or night on a variety of radio stations or on television. Their excellent results have been achieved only through long hours of practice and very hard work. The splendid blend of their voices in the singing of Gospel Hymns has added new dimensions and freshness to the beautiful thoughts found in the songs. They have a message to sing because each one of them has experienced the faithfulness of God in his own life; 'For His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me'. It is the hope and prayer of each quartet member that the message expressed through the songs on this, their latest recording, will inspire every listener to greater faith and devotion to the Christ they love and serve." - - Rev. Philip J. Koster (from "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" album liner notes)

He currently serves as mayor of Conchalí, Santiago de Chile. At the end of the 1990s he had a brief career as a singer, with modest figuration and two studio albums. His debut was specifically in 1999, with a homonymous album and produced by his own means, whose most prominent simple was "[r=20471638]", which obtained some diffusion on radios and also on television, with a low-budget video clip starring his sister, María José. René De La Vega was invited to some television stellar, where his tonic was to mock his style rather than promoting his artistic career. The second single from the same album was "Chica Colegiala". In 2002 he premiered a second album,"[r=13905667], which had two singles with animated video clips, but did not get the diffusion of the first. After this, De La Vega retired from music (somewhat depressed after realizing that the mass media was making fun of him), but over the years he became a popular cult character, and starred in sporadic performances at kitsch parties.

Search Add 6 Exit Safe Mode Margus Löve Margus Löve has been a well known name to darktronica scientists over the years. The solo artist’s starting point after the change of millennium became the technoid end of drum&bass with the bubbling bass waves of speed garage and Löve’s style became substantially directed by dubstep that gained ground at the start of the 2000s. The name L-OW successfully propagated the bass-loving vibe at the prime time of dubstep, and in the background the dub-techno-esque parallel project 1DERL& got more and more off the ground. Founding of the label Processed in 2012 and the release of 1DERL&’s debut album became a spiritual turning point – the allure of the sounds of dubstep shifted to the background and darker soundscapes found a new home in cooler techno trances. Margus Löve has moved still deeper in the swamp of sounds with his new project Exit Safe Mode that is striving to cut through the safety nets and broaden the palette of sounds. The sounds are complemented by darker ambiences and rhythmic skeletons, while staying essentially loyal to the pulsating force of techno. It’s time to discover the shady territories beyond the untrodden tracks.
