Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 29/07/2025
Found 602638 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 6 | The Soots | The Soots were, to all intent and purpose, a result of musical collaborations which revolved around the early work of Frank Zappa and Don Vliet - both of whom had been connected via their attendance at Antelope Valley's seats of learning. It was here that Vliet had been coaxed into his first known vocal work, a 'field recording' of "Lost In A Whirlpool" with Frank Zappa, his brother Bobby and a class tutor. A rather avant-garde number in which the boy (like a dead pet goldfish) is flushed down the toilet by his girlfriend and comes face-to-face with a large brown eyeless fish. The band referred to as "The Soots" existed in the early to mid 1960's. The period during which Zappa was residing in Paul Buff's PAL Studio in Cucamonga, then finally purchasing it in the summer of 1964 and officially turning it into 'Studio Z'. Vliet would drop by on his Helms Bread truck delivery route and hang out with the various musicians at the studio. Don Vliet had yet to officially adopt the lyric-writing nom de plume of "Don Van Vliet" and the persona of "Captain Beefheart" on a recording. Zappa, meanwhile, was busy developing concepts that would get his work a contract, one of which was a tentative 'operetta' entitled "Captain Beefheart & The Grunt People". The script of this being inspired from the germ of Vliet's nickname Beefheart and Vliet's family, 'Marvel' comics, TV sci-fi and America's growing fascination in space exploration. Such inspirations led to The Soots recording of "Metal Man Has Won His Wings" and other recordings in the given period. Some can be found on Zappa issues, such as "The Lost Episodes" or "Mystery Disc" [on which "The Birth Of Captain Beefheart" can be found] or on several unofficial recordings.

Search | Add | 6 | J.K. Coltrain | J. K. Coltrain was born in Columbus, Ohio. He spent his early childhood days between there and West Virginia where his parents operated a small Mom & Pop grocery store. His Dad also was an excellent auto mechanic and in fact owned a number of repair shops over the years and was a weekend stock car racer. That's one reason why J. K. is a Nascar fanatic to this day:) J.K. grew up surrounded by music & musicians. His cousin, Buddy Starcher was a professional recording artist on Columbia Records and was a regular performer on the then popular Midwestern & Louisiana Hayrides. He also introduced the late Keith Whitley who first appeared on Buddys weekly radio show in Charleston, West Virginia when he was 8 years old. J. K. made his own first appearance on radio at age 12 and first TV appearance at age 14. His Uncle & Grandpa performed together at churches throughout the South. That's where J. K. made his first appearance singing in church at the ripe old age of 11. His first professional job was at age 14 when he began singing with The Pleasant Hill Quartet. A well-known gospel group at the time. Of course in his teens he had to try his hand in high school dance bands like Fire n' Ice and The Four Aces but by age 20 he had returned to his first love country music. At that time J. K. helped form a 7 piece country rock group called 'The Southern Express'. They garnered a great deal of regional success and opened for many popular groups at that time such as Pure Prairie League, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Poco & The Marshall Tucker Band. In 1983 he left The Southern Express to pursue a solo career as his heart was with more traditional country music. He appeared to be taking the music business by storm as he was often the featured artist on Ernest Tubbs Midnite Jamboree and many popular Nashville nightclubs and was dubbed The Star of Tomorrow by Country Music News. He first cracked the country music charts in 1987 with a self-penned song, West Virginia You're Still My Home on the Studio 7 label. Since then he had enjoyed a number of chart successes including being shown in the Top 40 in Europe for 41 straight weeks. He also has made many appearances on radio & TV including The Nashville Showcase, The Midnight Jamboree, Nashville On Stage, The Jerry Lewis Telethon & Stars of Tomorrow Show. J. K. has toured worldwide and worked with some of the greatest names in country music including Jerry Reed, Loretta Lynn, The Bellamy Brothers, Conway Twitty, Buck Owens, George Jones, Tammy Wynette & Jerry Lee Lewis to name just a few. In addition to still recording and performing on his own J.K. is now helping the new up & coming young artists serving as the President of Colt Records Nashville as well as Nashville Radio Promotions, Chairman of The Traditional Country Opry and hosting The Country Star Showcases. He was recently awarded The Texas CMA Entertainer and Best Country Album of The Year awards. J. K. Coltrain is a member of: Traditional Country Hall of Fame Country Music Association Academy of Country Music Country Legends Association Americana Music Association

Search | Add | 6 | Garazi Gorostiaga | Garazi Gorostiaga | Garazi Gorostiaga (Galdakao, Euskal Herria, 1986) finds in electronic music, computers, synthesizers and languages such as MIDI the ability to know, express and state freely her experiences, ideas and emotions whilst also experimenting with them. Although musical creation has indeed accompanied her for many years, it was not until 2016 when she first presents her work to a live audience, focusing on sounds and styles such as ambient, drone and industrial. In 2017, the music label Eclectic Reactions from Bilbao in Spain released her first work, “Irauten”. Since then she has taken part in festivals such as the ODD (Barcelona), Nokodek, Dantz, DobleCheck (Donostia-San Sebastián), Kubeats (Urretxu), Inmersiones (Vitoria-Gasteiz), The Alhóndiga Experimental Music Programme, Mem (Bilbao), and furthermore in projects and collectives like Le Larraskito Kluba, Gertrude Noise Meeting, Dena Nahi Dugu (Atari), Música Dispersa or Mise-En-Scène Productions. Despite her work methodology of constant change, her favourite areas of experimentation are field recordings, synthesis (especially granular) and digital processes in real time. An imagery where there are no words. Compression/containment and expansion, chaos and order, calm and violence. Everything is in question, everything is the way it is in a cosmic, introspective and oneiric journey where identity and duality lose all their meaning. Sound alchemy, a thunderous coven, digital paganism and a necromantic spirit. «Revolutionary is the idea that creativity will save the world» |

Search | Add | 6 | Romanças | Romanças were one of the most important groups in the Portuguese Folk movement, alongside others such as Vai de Roda or Brigada Victor Jara. The group was formed in 1986 and consisted of Pedro D'Orey (Guitar), Fernando Pereira (Braguesa and Voice), José Barros (Cavaquinho, Braguesa, Mandolin and Voice) and João Ramos (Violin and Flute), all musicians with extensive experience in other projects related to traditional music and beyond. In 1988 they publish their first album entitled "Romanças", which has the most known theme "Salsa Verde". This work already denotes, in the group, an attempt to escape a certain conventionalism installed in other groups of the kind. It is not a group that limits itself to recreating traditional music, but advances to its own compositions; although influenced by traditional music (but also with the assumption of several European Folk influences, mainly Irish). In 1991 they released their second long-term work entitled "Monte da Lua". On this record, the Romanças' effort to leave the corset to which some groups in this area are subject is already more visible. In "Monte da Lua" there are themes like "Salsaparilha", "Trigueirinha", "Monte da Lua", "Xula" and several traditional ones like "Homem Rico", "Saias de S.João" and "D.Varão". The band does several shows in Portugal and even tours in France and Ireland, playing with some of the great names in the European Folk scene, although their elements never really became professional in music, with the exception of Barros. Due to internal differences, José Barros leaves the band and goes to one of the formations of the Ronda dos Quatro Caminhos, at the same time that João Ramos starts to accompany the Quadrilha in live shows, a band of which he will later be a full member. Almost reported as extinct, Romanças will release a third album entitled "Azuldesejo" in which José Salgueiro (ex-Trovante), Fernando Molina, João Luís Lobo and José Carias collaborate.

Search | Add | 6 | DC Da Messenger | At the age 16, DC Da Messenger was the motivating force behind a very talented singing and rap group called DC Rap Kids, which consisted largely of some very creative and innovated family members, including his younger brother and three cousins. Compositions like "World War III", "video Games", "The Smurfs", DC Rap Kids Theme" and of course "Big Chance" showed his early genius at writing with message and meaning. However, limited by lack of industry knowledge and capitol backing, the "Big Chance" never came. Eventually DC Rap Kids evolved into "DC Delinquent Teens". Da Messenger persevered and stuck to his guns, refusing to compromise his unique art form. This landed him a job with the Everyday Theater Youth Ensemble(ET), where he finally felt the "hype" of performing for more than just family and he loved it. Now more than ever, he vowed never to turn back. His experience with ET was the best thin that could have happened to Da Messenger. After Everyday Theater, Da Messenger tried to once again pull his family along, but realized that nothing happens overnight. All but one has been lost to the streets, including himself. He has never let go of his dream and remains determined to achieve whatever it was that DC Rap Kids set out to do nine years ago. He look back and wonders how many really talented undiscovered kid never get a chance to achieve their dreams, but fall victim to the stone cold street of hustling, drug abuse, robbery and everything that comes with it. On that tragic note, he dedicates the singles "AVENUE BUM RUSH",and "IT'S ON YOU".

Search | Add | 6 | Heralders' Quartet | "The Heralders Quartet was formed when four young men whose lives were committed to Christ, started singing together spontaneously one night, just for fun. In just a few years their sound has become a very familiar one throughout Michigan and elsewhere in the Mid-West. Many of their recordings can be heard at any time of the day or night on a variety of radio stations or on television. Their excellent results have been achieved only through long hours of practice and very hard work. The splendid blend of their voices in the singing of Gospel Hymns has added new dimensions and freshness to the beautiful thoughts found in the songs. They have a message to sing because each one of them has experienced the faithfulness of God in his own life; 'For His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me'. It is the hope and prayer of each quartet member that the message expressed through the songs on this, their latest recording, will inspire every listener to greater faith and devotion to the Christ they love and serve." - - Rev. Philip J. Koster (from "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" album liner notes)

Search | Add | 6 | Fishy Friends | Named after a toy set for babies, five guys from the Winschoten area in The Netherlands are writing their own songs in the style of Nirvana, The Posies, Teenage Fanclub and Smashing Pumpkins starting from 1993. After playing a few gigs the boys recorded the first album entitled “Starring Netty” which sees the light of day in May 1994, More shows are there and they make it till the popcontest of Groningen called “Pop=Prima Prijs” in 1995. Unfortunately they end up not winning the prize. In 1996 recordings began for the second one called “Hurray!”. The music has become more solid and is more furious but still melodic with nice vocal harmonies. A few shows are played but due to lack of success the members started to focus on other bands and projects. In 1998 it all ended. The songs stick to your head immediately and are still not outdated. In 2019 they came together again and old songs were played but also new songs are written. On stage again on the 5th of May 2022 after so many years. A new album is recorded.

Search | Add | 6 | Charlie Dick | Charlie Dick, the widower of country legend [a227842]. Throughout his life, Dick worked to preserve the legacy of Cline — who died in a plane crash on March 5th, 1963, at age 30 — as one of the most influential singers in country music. In 1980, the Loretta Lynn biopic Coal Miner's Daughter renewed interest in the "Crazy" singer and her catalog. Five years later, Jessica Lange portrayed the singer in Sweet Dreams, with actor Ed Harris playing Charlie Dick. The real Charlie critized the film for some of its glaring discrepancies. He would continue to be an active participant and advisor in Cline documentaries and other projects throughout his life. While Cline was alive, Dick worked at a printing shop in Nashville and also served as his wife's road manager. Charlie Dick, a man who was very much responsible for helping to keep to artistic legacy of his late wife intact over the years, died in his sleep Sunday morning (Nov. 8, 2015). He was 81.

Search | Add | 6 | Bill Retoff | The first serious musical venture came as a member of the Insomniacs (which eventually morphed into the ensemble Retoff, McKenzie, Butler & Pierce) in the early '90s. Retoff formed his own label, Maize Records, specifically for the band, and between 1992 and 1994, they released two acclaimed (in underground pop circles) full-length cassettes and numerous singles. The band gradually disintegrated due in large part to the miles of travel between them. At about the exact moment of disintegration, Retoff was struck down by spinal meningitis and diagnosed with intestinal cancer. It nearly ended his life, but he ultimately recovered from the ordeal and eventually settled back into recording as a solo artist. He released his debut solo album, Pop Jewelry, in 1996, along with a legion of 45s and made appearances on numerous compilations. He played with the band Eternal Groove, who released a single in 1997, and produced the sole effort by Billy Blastoff, the band that Dan McKenzie, Dave Butler, and Ed Pierce formed following Retoff, McKenzie, Butler & Pierce. Two of his songs were also covered by the semi-legendary '60s combo the E-Types on their 1998 reunion album Chase the Moon. Retoff's dedicated cult following continued to steadily grow, and a second solo album, Reanimation, appeared in 2000. That summer also saw him reconvene with McKenzie, Butler, and Pierce to begin recording all new material.

As a blind from birth, Sauce, from the late 1940s to early 1970s, participated in the Blind Federation's tours, where he developed a good working relationship with the already established duo "Engedahl and Stordahl". Sauce debuted as a writer in 1973 with the novel Mot dagning. The authorship comprises a total of six books, all historical entertainment novels from rural communities. At the 1973 debut, a reviewer wrote in the newspaper Østlendingen that "The entertainment novel has received a renewal".

Search | Add | 6 | TS Brooks | American singer-songwriter based in Berlin. Ask T.S. Brooks, and he'll say his music lies halfway between the city and the country. But he admits to the casual listener it could come across as none of that. Nevertheless he straddles two extremes - that of the noise of anonymity, and the soothing flow of isolation. Admittedly influenced by artists such as Townes Van Zandt, Neil Young, and Lou Reed, Brooks paints pictures that allow the listener to bask in the light of detachment; in a place where you can hear yourself listening. Earlier For some ten years, T.S. Brooks cut his teeth in the American indie-psych band, Minmae. When that was over, Brooks moved to Europe to pursue folk music full time, free of the joys and follies that come with the former. In Berlin he found a thriving acoustic scene, and the city's many basement venues and house shows suited the intimacy of his music, as well as providing a platform for its urgency. Upon arrival, Brooks had just released his first album, 'Tertiary Allotment Is A Delightfulness' on San Francisco, California's Snowstorm Music. In the two years since he has gone on to release 'The Spanish Years', recorded during a month in the outskirts of Barcelona, Spain, and the epic 'Alles Gute', recorded in old Friedrichshain factory in Berlin. Between these two albums, Brooks also recorded a limited edition 12" ep on House of Plenty. His most recent album, album,'Skyhooks', was self-released in 2013. Greywood Records released T.S. Brooks' 'best of...' digital-only album, 'A Network of Flickering Lights (2009-2015)' this year.
