Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024

Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 5 Danielius Pomerancas Lithuanian violinist of Jewish descent. Born 1904 in Šiauliai, emigrated to Canada in 1974, died 1981. Daniel Pomerantz’s jazz-band was the best exponent of swinging orchestra in the interwar Lithuanian little stage. The band usually performed in Konradas cafe in Kaunas. Pomerantz studied violin with Itzhak Vildman-Zaidman at the Kaunas Juozas Naujalis School of Music and Willy Hess at the Berlin Conservatoire. In Vienna he attended master classes given by Bronisław Huberman, a renowned violin virtuoso. While in Berlin, Pomerantz played in cafes and Marek Weber orchestra, at the time one of the most popular orchestras in Europe. Upon returning to Kaunas around 1933, Pomerantz formed an ensemble of multiinstrumentalists. The ensemble performed in Konradas and Monika cafes and not before long started competing with the celebrated Hofmeklerband in terms of mastery. He liked to play solo violin in cafes; he played almost the entire violin repertoire fascinating his listeners by virtuoso passages and improvisations. In 1936, orchestra conducted by Pomerantz joined by recording studio orchestra members and soloist Antanas Dvarionas recorded for label Columbia 11 shellac records, featuring fashionable tangos, waltzes and foxtrots.

Search Add 5 Diane Marie Kloba Diane Marie Kloba is a Chicago-based singer-guitarist-songwriter who has ploughed a unique furrow, with uncompromising creative integrity, across eight studio albums and numerous shorter recordings, with another two full-length records ready for imminent release. Diane’s music is characterised by its uniqueness, by its sense of difference, although that difference isn’t some kind of self-consciousness exoticism, or a theatrical otherness, or yet the atavistic social transgression that is arguably a facet of all pop-music. Diane’s difference is more a kind of personalised strangeness: it’s the same kind of difference that makes you you, and me me. Her work as a composing musician began in 1997, and since that time Diane has released eight full-length albums, along with many shorter releases and collaborations. In her solo work, Diane plays most of the instruments herself, including guitar, drums, percussion and synthesizers, although other contributors are present on some recordings. Diane has released collaborative recordings with creative musicians around the world in a wide variety of styles, and has received airplay on many radio stations globally. This has enabled her to reach a diverse and appreciative audience, and she has received a lot of positive critical attention. Her songs are sometimes recognisable riffs on the pop song form, and at other times they are overtly experimental, but there is never anything abrasive or ‘difficult’ about them. Across all of her varied releases there is a consistent dedication to presenting the unalloyed truth of her experience within the recognisable format of the song, her many and illuminating creative insights offered to the listener with directness and generosity. She welcomes her audience with warmth and wonder into the capacious dwelling that is her uniquely creative heart.

Formed his first band, [a=觀子音樂坑] (Kuan-tsu [Guanzi] Music Pit), which became involved in the fight against a government plan to build a dam in his home place of Meinong. In 1999, following some personnel changes, 觀子音樂坑 changed its name to the Labor Exchange Band and began incorporating traditional instruments into their sound, including suona (a trumpet-like instrument) and Sheng Xiang’s yueqin (sometimes called a “moon guitar”) and sanxian (a three-string guitar-like instrument). Sheng Xiang also began writing songs with activist and poet Zhong Yongfeng. In 2003, the Labor Exchange Band split up and a new group, Water3, was formed. Search Add 5 Matt LeGroulx Multi-instrumentalist Matt LeGroulx has been releasing his home-recorded music since the late 90s, first with Fecund Farrago (anthologies of which have since been released on his label Phonautograph Records) then in the early 2000s under his known name and as Tiny Iota, who's music has never been released. In 2010 he began releasing music as Expwy which gained some notoriety in his home of Montreal and the rest of Canada with 2012's Bag Of Waters thanks to Weird Canada, Exclaim! and local Montreal-based publications. In 2014 he disbanded Expwy though continued to play with much the same people. Although his albums have been mostly done on his own, playing all of the instruments some participants include long-time collaborator Dan Nyborg, Galaxius Mons partner Ian Jarvis, drummer/guitarist/songwriter/producer Daniel Gelinas and bassist and songwriter Elliot Kerr. In 2015 he founded Phonautograph Records and began releasing music as High Five. As of January, 2024 there have been over 20 High Five releases, some under modified names such as High Five Early Music Ensemble, High Five Flute Ensemble and High Five Chamber Music Ensemble. Though these names denote changes in instrumentation or repertoire they are invariably created mainly by LeGroulx with his menagerie of instruments. High Five albums may include tenor saxophone, flute, recorder, clarinet, violin, piano, pandeiro and synthesizer in addition to the standard rock band instrumentation of guitar, bass and drums giving these homemade High Five albums an array of textures usually only possible by collaboration. In 2021 the album Bad Trouble by Body Breaks was released on vinyl by We Are Time, a microtonal collaboration between LeGroulx and vocalist/composer Julie Reich of Toronto's Bile Sister. Founded by No Wave legend Chandra Oppenheim and writer and musician Jesse Locke, We Are Time inaugurated it's existence by releasing Bad Trouble on vinyl marking the only time LeGroulx's music has appeared on that medium. All songs are sung by Reich save for the final one which is sung by LeGroulx.

Search Add 5 Current b-lectric Benas Buivydas The Current b-lectric is the main sound project of Benas Buivydas (a.k.a. b-), a sound explorer from Lithuania. The project consists of various experiments with modular synths, tape loops, noise boxes, field recordings, mangled samples, and whatnot. Despite the ever-changing experimental nature of the sounds, there is an underlying feeling of darkness and melancholy. Despite the occasionally appearing rhythms the music is trying to evoke a dreamlike state; its recordings feature ambient loops, detached monologue samples, various field recordings, etc. One thread connecting all recordings is the use of various body parameters (like heartbeat pulse or breath) to automate part of the recording process: opening/closing of filters, filling in additional percussion elements, panning in the stereo field, or controlling the volume of some particular part. This feature makes the artist himself part of the electrical current, hence the name Current b-lectric.

----- Ver: http://rockchapin.org/index.php/45-grupos/la-tona/697-la-tona

Appearance history: Formally, the Choral School was founded in 1944 (at first it was called the Music and Choral School, since 1945 - the Choir School, since 1954 - named after M. I. Glinka). However, since it was originally part of the State Academic Singing Choir of St. Petersburg, it has long roots. Since its beginnings they primarily wanted to question human rights policies, ecology, social crticism, modern primitivism, subculture movements, alternative social views, civil society, cultural autonomy ... The group states neither a definied hierarchical structure nor a constant leadership that is membership - it is strongly fluid and acts mostly in the form of "ad hoc" groupings. A constant stronghold of the group are musical and multimedia instalations concerning overall socio-critical engagement (see also : Living Theatre, San Francisco Red Theatre, Andy Warhol's Factory scene, The Fugs).

Throughout his life, Dick worked to preserve the legacy of Cline — who died in a plane crash on March 5th, 1963, at age 30 — as one of the most influential singers in country music. In 1980, the Loretta Lynn biopic Coal Miner's Daughter renewed interest in the "Crazy" singer and her catalog. Five years later, Jessica Lange portrayed the singer in Sweet Dreams, with actor Ed Harris playing Charlie Dick. The real Charlie critized the film for some of its glaring discrepancies. He would continue to be an active participant and advisor in Cline documentaries and other projects throughout his life. While Cline was alive, Dick worked at a printing shop in Nashville and also served as his wife's road manager. Charlie Dick, a man who was very much responsible for helping to keep to artistic legacy of his late wife intact over the years, died in his sleep Sunday morning (Nov. 8, 2015). He was 81.

Search Add 5 Hugo Wahrlich Hugo Johann Christian Andreas Wahrlich German-born viola player and conductor (b. January 1, 1856 in Kassel, Hesse, Germany – d. January 23, 1922 in St. Petersburg, Russia (then called Petrograd)) Wahrlich, known in Russian as Гуго Иванович Варлих (Hugo Ivanovich Warlich), played first viola with the Mannheim symphony orchestra from 1874. In the late 1870s, when the orchestra toured Russia, he remained in the country, working first as a viola player. In 1888, he became Second Assistant Conductor of the Imperial Court Orchestra ([a=Императорский Придворный Оркестр]) in St. Petersburg. After increasingly replacing its main conductor, Hermann Fliege, for important performances, Wahrlich completely took over the direction of this orchestra in 1907, after Fliege death. In 1902, when the orchestra began to give public performances, Wahrlich started an annual concert series introducing new works by Russian composers. In 1909, for example, Wahrlich directed the Russian debut of [a= Alexander Scriabine]'s "Le Poème de l’Extase." Wahrlich himself composed the march Наследник Цесаревич (“Naslednik Tsarevich”) in honor of Grand Prince Alexei (1913). Around 1903, Wahrlich conducted the Imperial Court Orchestra on several recordings for [l=Columbia]. Later, he also recorded for [l=Amour] and [l=Zonophone]. After the Russian Revolution, Wahrlich was allowed to stay on for a while with what became Soviet Russia's first philharmonic orchestra, but only as Assistant Conductor. From 1919 to his death, he conducted military brass bands in Petrograd.
