Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025
Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 3 | Dieter Bauknecht | Bauknecht started his musical experiments in 1967 from his Cafe Ufo studios in Vaals, Holland (together with his brother and his girlfriend Elisabeth Wurst). His early compositions range from commercials (Chocomel 1967, unreleased) to whole super-8 operas. In 1970 he toured the world with his brother [a672612] as "The Bauknechts". Although rumour has it that Dieter died in a carcrash in july 1977, some people are sure he created on of the most important german experimental groups: "MIESES GEGONGE" in the mid 80s and produced the seminal "ABWASSERMUSIK" Lp with H.N.A.S. in 1985. In 2002 german DOM ELCHKLANG label started a CD re-issue series of Bauknecht's outstanding early solo compositions.

Search | Add | 3 | Sweet Claudette | Claudette Harrell | Blues singer based in Detroit, Michigan, USA area. Born May 5 1942 in Heflin Alabama Died January 6 2020 in Royal Oak Michigan “Sweet Claudette” Harrell-Manning lived life to the fullest. In total, she had seven careers, all of which she started at the bottom and worked her way up with only a high school education. As a young woman, she was a single mother of four children while working full time. A difficult task being an African-American female, pre-civil rights. Born in 1942 in Heflin, Alabama, 1 of 5 children; John, Hank, Claudette, Annie and Eudell. The family lived there until she was 5 years old, when they moved to Chicago. The stayed there only a year before settling in the Detroit area. After graduating from Ferndale High School in 1961(?), Claudette’s first job was a Recruiter for the military during the Vietnam War (although not enlisted). Then she became a nurse at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital. Next, she worked for Consumers Power, reading meters at first, advancing to Administrative Assistant. I. B. M. hired her into warehouse parts distribution, but she quickly advanced to Employment Recruiter. After several years, she retired to open her own graphic design business. This grew into several other shops/stores of various ceramic creations. It was around this time (age 50) that she caught “The Blues Bug” and began singing in local clubs. Having roots in Alabama, she easily connected to blues artists there as well. With her “sweet” attitude and “spontaneous comedy” performing style, success came quickly. Having already written a book of poetry, songwriting was the next natural step in her evolution. She went on to eventually write, record and release 44 songs on 6 CD’s. Her final “day job” was Administrative Management at Michigan Department of Natural Resources (D.N.R.). It was during this time that she met and eventually married drummer Greg Manning. Together, they have assembled various teams of skilled musicians, performing around the Detroit Metro Area, Canada, and the South. |

During the 1970's, "Ole Ivars" went through many lineup changes, culminating with the 1978 departure of (among others) [a1059377] (the "Ole" in "Ole Ivars"). Shortly thereafter, [a1059377] and other former members of Ole Ivars got together and formed Ole Ivars Veteranene (The Ole Ivars Veterans). The two Ole Ivars bands co-existed for three years, until 1982 when the band then calling itself Ole Ivars retired and Ole Ivars Veteranene went back to using the name Ole Ivars. The lineup has since then remained relatively unchanged. They released two albums under the "Ole Ivars Veteranene" name.

Search | Add | 3 | Fatter Faction | Dan Spier, Steve Scott, Ben McCusker | Audio architects/musicians Dan Spier and Steve Scott spend many years in their garage studio in Staines, Middlesex, remixing, bootlegging tunes to play-out to the free-party masses. A lack of direction was rectified when past free party cohort and vocalist Ben McCusker (aka KRUDE) dropped into the studio and was blown away by the lawless, gritty tones bouncing off the studio walls. Bringing with him a peerless vocal style that flies between sardonic, sarcastic social observation to raw urban prose, the Fatter Faction were formed, proper, December 2003. Their infectious, nihilistic tunes are best described as the musical equivalent of being smashed in the face. A calamity of cross-genre, distinctly British sounding tunes that stops anyone within earshot dead in their tracks. |

Search | Add | 3 | William S. Bachman | William Stephen Bachman Jr. | American audio engineer, inventor and distinguished high-fidelity pioneer (29 October 1908, Williamsport, Pennsylvania — 8 April 1996, Greenville, Delaware). William S. Bachman was a Director of Engineering and Research at [l=Columbia Records, Inc.], known for several crucial contributions to vinyl manufacturing technology, such as developing a 33⅓ RPM long-playing record and leading a workgroup that standardized the "RIAA equalization curve." Bachman served on numerous industry commissions, was a Senior Member (1954) and Fellow (56) of the Institute of Radio Engineers (IRE, later [l=IEEE]) and a Fellow of the [l=Audio Engineering Society], which granted him various accolades, including the AES Silver Medal (1955) and Honorary Membership in 1973. Bachman graduated from [l=Cornell University] in 1932 with an electrical engineering degree and began working for [l=General Electric]'s Radio Receiver Engineering Department the same year. His most notable design was a GE Model DM 1RM 6C variable reluctance pickup, which offered a significantly broader frequency range on phonograph discs. In 1946, [a=Peter C. Goldmark], chief scientist at [l=CBS Laboratories], convinced Bachman to quit GE and come to Columbia Records to work on the company's most ambitious project. With [a=Howard H. Scott], Bachman continued Columbia's early research into a "long-playing" phonograph record that would fit at least 20 minutes of audio per side, with various attempts done as early as 1939 but halted during World War II. The company held a press conference to unveil an LP format in June 1948 at [l=Waldorf Astoria Hotel] in Midtown Manhattan, New York. The first-ever LP album, Mendelssohn's [r=3899231] by [a=The New York Philharmonic Orchestra] under [a=Bruno Walter]'s baton, was released on [l=Columbia Masterworks] in September 1948. Bachman outlined the technical aspects of his invention in "The Columbia Long-Playing Microgroove Recording System" article, co-authored with Goldmark and his assistant, René Snepvangers, for Proceedings of the IRE, Vol. 37, No. 8 in August 1949. William Bachman continued working on various aspects of vinyl manufacturing and reproduction at Columbia Records, creating a feather-edge hot-stylus disc-cutting system, automatic variable pitch groove spacing technique, and viscous-damped reproducer tonearms. He was responsible for acoustics control and designing the equipment for the modernized [l=Columbia Recording Studios] in 1960. In 1953, Bachman joined a newly-formed Technical Committee at the Recording Industry Association of America, tasked with drafting specifications for pre/de-emphasis EQ for the new LP format. "Emphasis" equalization is a critical aspect of phonograph disc-cutting, necessary for longer duration and for reducing groove wear during playback. Since 1940, each record company has had a proprietary technology, with dozens of various turnover/roll-off EQ frequencies on the market: Columbia-78, Decca-U.S., Victor-78, BBC, NAB, Orthacoustic, FFRR-78, microgroove, AES, and numerous others. Customers struggled with diminished sound quality and highly-inconsistent results between specific albums and phonographs. Thus, RIAA decided to pre-emptively work on uniformed, industry-wide EQ standards for the uprising LP format to ensure any record will be fully compatible with all turntables. Bachman's group included representatives of all major record labels and led to the adoption of "RIAA equalization." Artist images William S. Search | Add | 3 | The Fireside Wake | Andy Dalton | The Fireside Wake is an amalgam of musical styles pushed through the lens of high-energy rock & roll. All words and music are written and performed by a single Michigander. The debut album is 15 years in the making. Songwriting began in 2003, and recording began in 2013. Initially, the idea was to track a few songs to listen to personally. The project snowballed into an 19 song, 97 minute musical exploration. Disparate genres have been juxtaposed into one cohesive whole with one main element in common: the singular songwriter/performer. A very special private Digital Release Listening Party and Live Event was held on 12/21/19. Many people came and were treated to free booze, free food, an album art gallery, and a live solo interpretation of select songs from the album. A live band is currently being assembled and trained to bring this behemoth to life as accurately as possible. March 1st - March 31st, 2021, a Crowdfunding campaign ensued to finance the manufacturing of CD and Vinyl. Physical copies of the CD were made available 10/1/21. Vinyl pressings were made available 7/1/22 after many unforeseen setbacks. They do, however, look gorgeous and sound great. With the state of Live Music still a giant question mark, it's hard to say whether the Vinyl will get a proper release show any time soon. There are currently 3 ways to stay up to date with developing information: the official website www.TheFiresideWake.com, the official Facebook Page, and the email list (be sure to sign up from the home page). |
