Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 5 Kieler Knabenchor The Kieler Knabenchor was founded in 1968 by Guntram Altnöder and is conducted by his successor, Hans-Christian Henkel since 1998. The concert choir, consisting of boy's and men's voices, comprises 50 to 60 singers coming from different schools in and around Kiel, though many are students at the Ernst-Barlach-Gymnasium, where a program with special emphasis on music education is offered. A fixed venue for concerts since 1975 is Kiel's main church St. Nikolai, where the Knabenchor vocally supports services every few months. Concert tours have led the choir through Germany and many other European countries, to Israel, to the former Soviet Union and to the U.S. Highlights of previous years are, for example, a performance in St. Peter's Cathedral in Rome, Bach's Christmas Oratory in Tallinn's philharmonic concert hall "Estonia", a trip to Moscow with concerts in the Tchaikovsky and the Rachmaninoff concert hall. Important international music festivals, such as the Israel Festival and the AmericaFest Festival 2000 have featured the choir. In the years 1990, 1999 and 2001, the Kieler Knabenchor participated in concerts of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. The choir's repertoire stretches from Gregorian chant to renaissance and baroque polyphony to Classical and Romantic pieces and encompasses moderate modernist songs as well.

Search Add 5 Manuel C. Ferrón Manu Ferrón We'll remember 2013 as the year we finally convinced Manu Ferrón, the elusive cult figure-singer-songwriter from Granada,to publish and record music under his own name. Unanimiedad was his debut single with only two tracks: “A Trabajar” and “El Mueble”, just five minutes of timeless and elegant pop in the vein of Teenage Fanclub or Love. Manu Ferrón is well known in Spain as the co-leader of Grupo de Expertos Solynieve (where the other 50% is Jota, of Los Planetas' fame), and also as the writer of several minor hits for a few independent bands. Recently, he has also been collaborating on the Spanish translation of Franco Battiato's last album lyrics. And now he is blowing our heads off with his brand new 10'', Misericordia, five songs almost entirely made of choruses and epiphanies, wonderfully and strangely entwined with artists such as Big Star, Randy Newman or Guided by Voices. Quoting Heraclitus, you'll never play the same song twice, and that's exactly what happens with “Cara de Astro”. Originally composed in 1993, it has been on a constant journey through languages, titles, lineups and intentions. Now, it's all about the famous quote by Uruguayan football player Enzo “El Príncipe” Francescoli, who once literally said that “you just can only play well when you can and when they let you do it” . “Cara de Astro” is full of energy and has an effervescent approach to the listener, exemplifying an essential motivation for Manu: Do it NOW. Do it now, instead of “I would prefer not to” (classic Bartleby, the Scrivener). But now, it's the perfect time. “Me quedo”, apparently a “girl-meets-boy” song, could be also understood as a “man in front of the mirror” or a “world, oh, world, listen to me” story. The chords that surround it could remind you of Robert Pollard with a dark, psychedelic, twist. There is also a slight, smart, even casual reference to traditional Andalusian music. Landing between Zumpano or Teenage Fanclub, this 10” has also pop-like revenges against intellectual elites, like “Enemigo que Huye”, “Precisamente de esta manera” –maybe the one more close to indie-rock tradition, or the jewel in the crown, “Secreto a voces” where Ferrón witty talks about the rottenness of artistic creation and the fake truths that, with our tacit approval, are killing art and feeding the mass culture industry. Misericordia is anchored with songs deeply filled with melodies sounding like survivors from a wild storm that finally land home, getting more and more close to perfection after bloody fights with inner devils. All of them are inhabited with emotions, memories, proclaims, and spiritual, almost private stuff, a gift for the wise listener.

Search Add 5 Massimo Silverio Massimo Silverio Massimo was born, and spent most of his life, beneath Carnia's mountains (North-East of Italy). In the charm of a borderland dwelled by an ancient idiom, he forms his very own musical language that portrays modern music, folklore and poetry through using italian, english and carnico. This expressiveness is embodied through his first 'Ø', followed by 'O' out on March 11th; two EPs that collect songs written by Massimo many years ago, which are manifestations of a visceral search for everything that exists outside time and genre schemes. A music of profound descent into human soul, into desolation and recesses of feelings.

Search Add 5 Browntown Looters Members: Oscar F. (D.J. Clear) Venegas Tony (Citric-T) Campos Richard S. (Skinny) Lopez Coming straight from the East Los Angeles hip-hop underground are the Brown Town Looters. The Brown Town Looters have been around for many years. The group was formed back in 1989, when the group was originally named Brown Town. The original members were Critic-T (Boyle Heights), D.J. Clear, and Shotgun (both of Montebello). In 1990, a street-smart homie known as Skinny (East Los) joined the group. In 1992, Brown Town released their first single entitled "Dope House in the Ghetto" on Explicit Records. That summer, Brown Town was performing at various clubs and car shows. That group was getting ready to release their album, since reviews of their shows were very positive. In 1993, their manager, who was also managing "Proper Dos," mismanaged Brown Town. The group decided not to retain him as their manager after backlash was felt from his management tactics. Also in 1993, Shotgun left the group, branching out on his own solo endeavors. In 1994, the group picked up a new rapper, Cash Phlow of South Central Los Angeles. 1994 also brought with it a new name, Brown Town Looters. With this new-year and new name, Brown Town Looters were coming into their own. Also in '94 they released a two-song promotional Compact Disc. The group also began to make appearance at lowrider car shows and concerts. At about the same time, the group started working on another album and were in the process of negotiating to sign with a record label. In 1995, the group met with Future Entertainment, after which, the Brown Town Looters' ads were seen in various magazines such as High Times, The Source, etc. With this new-found exposure, the group, along with Jose Lopez (Skinny's brother) of Looters Management, and Future Entertainment created Hemp Town Records. HempTown Records was created to manufacture cassette tapes and Compact Discs of Brown Town Looter's unreleased album, "Koncrete Phunk." All they needed was a distribution system for their album. Unfortunately, due to Future Entertainment's mismanagement, this never happened. After this fiasco, Citric-T and Cash Phlow joined together with D.J. Ray of "Cruising with La Raza," a cable show on Buenavision Cable in East Los Angeles. D.J. Ray asked Citric-T and Cash Phlow to host the show in East L.A. while he hosted the show in Arizona. This arrangement allowed the Brown Town Looters to gain greater exposure. At about the same time, the group met other hip-hop groups and formed a hip-hop family which as known as "Brown Town Looters Click." The "Click" consisted of Brown Town Looters, featuring Mr. Juvenile, 2-Phattal, Explicit, and Lil' Indian. In 1996, Citric-T and Cash Phlow left the cable show and began their own cable show called "Undaground Flava." The show consisted of rap/hip-hop videos and interviews with guest from the hip-hop Industry such as Cypress Hill, W.C., Doveshack, Mellow Man Ace, and Delinquent Habits. Looter's Management was also booking shows left and right. Brown Town Looters were performing with music artists such as Cypress Hill, Ice-T, Coolio, Zapp, Rodney O and Joe Cooley, Kid Frost, and Mack 10. In August of 1996, the Brown Town Looters, featuring Mr. Juvenile, were featured in the "Definition of Brown" compilation, a product of Latino owned Green Side Records. In 1997, Looters' Management made a deal with John Lozoya (one of the original creators of Lowrider Magazine) of Super Event Entertainment for a Mid-West tour, taking Brown Town Looters to Texas, Arizona and New Mexico, promoting their new album, "Live and Learn." This new tour brought new friendships for Brown Town Looters. One such friendship with Street Smart Clothing, a company associated with Top Nation Clothing. This alliance brought Brown Town Looters a new line of Brown Town Looters clothing (gear). This association also led to a Japan Super Car Show as the headliners. In January 1998, "Definitions of Brown, Part Two" was released and again Brown Town Looters were included. BTL released their "Live and Learn" album on September 18, 1998.

Search Add 5 Nicky Hilton Raymond Ensor a 16-year-old singer from Coventry named Nicky Hilton, with a slightly goofy song ‘Your Nose Is Gonna Grow’. Nicky’s real name was Raymond Ensor. He was from the Stoke area of Coventry and went to Briton Road Stoke Secondary Modern School, where he played rugby and football and excelled in English. His singing career began when visiting The Stoke Ex Club and he realised that’s what he wanted to do. He ended up singing in the club after winning an audition, earning £3 entertaining on Saturday and Sunday nights. He was eventually spotted at a singing competition in London by artist manager Lena Davies who, along with her husband David Taylor, took Nicky onto their books, with Lena becoming his manager. Nicky was earning an enviable £40 a week in those days, not bad for a 16-year-old in 1962. Indeed, he was often seen driving around in his 1959 Ford Consul, driven by his brother (and Road Manager) Peter Ensor. Your Nose is Gonna Grow was a song that has a great verse, but a chorus that could have done with a little bit of work. Having said that, Emile Ford, Johnny Crawford and Christine Quaite, all had versions of the song on release, though none of them charted. That didn't stop Parlophone releasing a second single by Nicky Hilton ‘I'm Gonna Lock My Heart Away and Throw Away The Key’, though that too failed to make any impact on the charts. It’s testament to Nicky’s talent when another major label Decca Records, signed him and released in 1965 what would be his last ever single ‘Give Us Your Blessing’. Needless to say this too failed to chart. Nicky had an all time wish to play at the Coventry Theatre , whether he ever achieved it I have no idea.

Search Add 5 Agrokulcher Agrokulcher was formed in '97, although the current line up has only been together since '99. When the previous vocalist decided to leave the band, management called upon Matt DeJoy who was working on a couple of different projects at the time. After just one rehearsal, he was granted the position of frontman and the band immediately began writing together. Within a month Agrokulcher had written enough material to go into the studio to work on their first E.P. titled "God". Since then, the band has been performing and headlining up and down the west coast. Agrokulcher played at "Camp Ozzy" at Ozzfest, opened up for the band "Live" at Dennis Rodman's Birthday Bash at the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas and headlined the Tony Hawk Skate and Music Festival in the South Bay. They also were privileged enough to record two songs with punk legend Mike Watt. It was a tribute to legendary punk bonds from the South Bay. The album is available in record stores titled "The Bay After". Agrokulcher's style of music is of n heavier genre, but the band has been influenced by the likes of Bowie, Tool, Depeche Mode, Snot, Primus, Faith No More, Deftones, you get the idea. AK has exploded out of the South Bay (Hermosa Beach, Ca.) and has gained much respect from the entire L.A. music scene as they play in Hollywood and surrounding areas constantly. In September '99, Agrokulcher was named "Underground Band of the Month" by both Loudside Entertainment (www.loudside.com) and "Unsigned Band of the Month" by Unenrthed.com. (www.unearthed.com). "AK" has also been given strong recognition by Artist Direct.com and Ubl.com. In October of 2000 Agrokulcher took some time out of their busy schedule to record the follow up to their first E.P. This CD was appropriately titled "2000". This CD shows the great musical bond and growth that the band was able to form in a very fast paced year. Their sold out CD release party at the Troubadour (Hollywood, Ca.) was a huge success. It helped others in the tight nit community of Hollywood realize why there is such a buzz about this band that has only been together for a short time. Agrokulcher is continuing on the tracks of many great Hollywood bands that have gone on to bigger careers while they continue to stay true to themselves. Their fans have made it perfectly clear what they want ...many more jaw dropping performances. It is very hard to not get lost among the thousands of heavy bands in Hollywood. Agrokulcher has made it a point to make their music and lyrical content very personable to themselves and those who make the right choice to really listen. Look for Agrokulcher to release a new Cd by the end of Summer 2001.

Search Add 5 Franz Friedl Franz René Friedl Franz R. Friedl, also under the pseudonym Jacques Renée (born May 30, 1892 in Oberkappel, Upper Austria, Austria-Hungary; died December 5, 1977 in Essen), was an Austrian violist, composer, and conductor. A child prodigy on the violin, Friedl studied his instrument under Carl Flesch and composing under Hugo Kaun in Berlin. As a teenager, he already went on international tours as a violin virtuoso. In 1914, he became concert master with the Philharmonic Orchestra in Dortmund. From 1916-1923, he held the same position in Dresden. Between 1923 and 1926, he worked as solo viola player at the most important opera house of Latin America, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Argentina. From 1921, Friedl had started composing film music. Plagued by persistent inflammation in his wrist since his teenage years, he retired from active playing in 1926 and became a free-lance composer and conductor. He conducted Berlin's radio orchestra, the Rundfunkorchester Berlin, and wrote music for more than 30 films between 1921 and 1958, ranging from documentary shorts to full-length feature films such as "Schloß Hubertus (1934), "Flitterwochen" (1936), "Der Edelweißkönig" (1939), "Das Ekel" (1939), and Nazi propaganda films such as "Jud Süß" (1940) and "Der Kampf um Norwegen". Propaganda minister Josef Goebbels was so impressed with Friedl's style that he appointed him "Sachbearbeiter für Musik" for the weekly news show, the "Wochenschau," in 1942. In this function, Friedl created the "Wochenschau's" typical sound, which Goebbels characterized as "steely romanticism." In August 1944, he was included in the so-called "Gottbegnadeten-Liste," a list of "irreplaceable" artists that the Nazi government considered particularly important. After the war, Friedl continued to write film music, but now for the East German DEFA.

Search Add 5 הולי Holy was known in the local scene as a top guitar player for a short time during the 80's. He recorded "Hayanshuf" trying to break through but since his music was rooted deep in the 60's & 70's psych-blues-rock he didn't managed to sign with any major record company. He decided to produce the album entirely by himself including a completely DYI cover which he folded and taped by himself. As for the music, the album has the grace of a low budget production and the feel of a real enthusiastic guy, devoted to his music and free spirit. two tracks of the sound sample include his cover version to Jimi Hendrix "Hey Joe" (which combine phrases from Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Hendrix's own US anthem fuzz cover!) and a instrumental "hendrix style" track full of fuzz-feedbacks and swirl guitar, Rest of the songs on the album are sung in Hebrew! Privately pressed somewhere in the early 80's in no more than 100 copies (50 copies is agreed to be the most accurate number). This album was never reissued on LP or CD. The album failed to sell and got lost in history, Holy's only "big" success was a great blues gem session with Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac) while Green's visit in Israel in the 80's (recorded on a private CD). Although he's still living in Israel he has vanished from the music scene since then but was spotted many times playing his guitar around the streets of Haifa and other bars blues & rock evenings, additionally, he used to be a guitar teacher.

Search Add 5 Concave Scream Singapore rock band Concave Scream paved the way for other homegrown bands, particularly amid the country's fledgling indie rock scene. Founded in 1994 by schoolmates Sean Lam (lead vocals, guitar) and Pann Lim (lead guitar, vocals), the band released its self-financed, self-titled debut album in 1995 and saw it catch on steadily among English-language rock listeners in Singapore, especially among critics. The growing buzz about Concave Scream led to the breakthrough success of their second album, Erratic (1997), which spawned several radio hits and elevated the band to the top of Singapore's rock scene. Three (1999) continued the band's success, but it would be a long seven years before Concave Scream returned with their fourth album, Horizons (2006), a return to-roots effort on EMI Singapore. Their fifth and final album, Soundtrack For A Book, an instrumental album that was once again self-released, would follow in 2009.

Search Add 5 Grand Western Adam and Simon met at a Tortoise gig at the end of the 90's and formed the band Geyser (with Andy Prestige from Cortizone and Al Murray sharing the drum stool). In 1999 Kirsten France started to guest on vocals for recording (Simon and Kirsten grew up together in Southport). The demos featuring Kirsten secured a publishing deal with Chrysalis and by the end of the year she was lead vocalist for the band. With the name now changed to Grand Western, Rob Havis (from Jetboy) joined on drums. At the start of 2000 the band released their first limited edition single, Just Whistle, becoming Mark and Lard's single of the week on Radio One. Meanwhile, Xfm added the B-side, Drive Your Car, to their A-list. Writing and recording a new album's worth of material the band also found time during 2000 to recruit a new manager, Steve Lowes from Retaliate First (who also manages Ian Brown), and a keyboard player, Jane Watkins. Jane's first gig was at the Reading Festival in August, playing to nearly 1,000 festival-goers. The band also played at the Carling festival in Leeds and the Mersea Island festival (with Dodgy) in late summer. In 2000, Grand Western also wrote and performed the music for Al Murray's TV vehicle Time, Gentlemen, Please. They were voted a Top 10 act by NME at In The City in Manchester in late September (reviewed as the 'band most likely to have a massive hit'). Firm favourites of the Barfly Club, Grand Western ended the year with their first live webcast for Channel Fly, filmed upstairs at the Monarch. During 2001 they toured extensively throughout England and finished recording two singles, Radio Caroline and Complicated, intended for release in the summer of 2001.

He is the son of the Live Sound Engineer and Technical Producer Alain Dion (Celine Dion, Paul McCartney, Laurence Jalbert, Natalie Cole, Yanni, Paul Piché, Lara Fabian). At very young age he started to produce instrumentals for french-speaking boom bap rappers as part of a band called Guerre Froide between 2003 and 2007. Between 2007 and 2010 he started to produce more ambient and folk music with slam on it as part a band called "Le Conte de Monk & Cristo". Between 2010 and 2015, he was a mastering engineer for his own company called Quantum Advanced Mastering, until he decided to sell the company due to burn out. In 2019, he decided to start a new brand, called "Cristóbal Dión", that aimed to be an artist name that "evokes exoticism, yet a name that nobody can steal". He started releasing short Beat-tapes every 4 months. In 2021, he started the LoFi beat-Tape series with the LoFi Halloween Beat-Tape which then was followed in 2022 by LoFi Space Age Beat-Tape. The LoFi Beat-tape series has now many entries, and the format converged towards a 18-min mixtape which "fits perfect one side of a vinyl record". Cristóbal Dión values exoticism, which is exemplifies by using instruments and scales that are not common. He likes to blend organic ethnic sound with electronic analog synths. He also likes to sample vinyl records from the exotica/space age era. On a separate note, Cristóbal Dión loves learning languages. He speaks fluently french, english and spanish regularly. He also learned Portuguese and Mandarin chinese.

Search Add 5 Herbert Häfner Austrian conductor, born 14 February 1905 in Brünn, Austria-Hungary (now Brno, Czech Republic) and died of a heart attack on 28 June 1952 in Salzburg, Austria, during the 26th music festival there. His friend [a=Prof. Dr. Helmut A. Fiechtner] wrote his obituary, describing him as "the only conductor in Vienna who devoted himself exclusively to contemporary music after 1946... He is particularly well-known in Belgium, France and Germany, and he was awarded the Schönberg Medal in Salzburg, but in Vienna he had to contend with resistance of all kinds. He frequently conducted [a=Das Wiener Funkorchester] and the [a=Wiener Symphoniker], but was never in a contractual relationship with either of them. Herbert Häfner lived as a freelance artist. He devoted his energy to the most difficult, most controversial field of contemporary music: the 'Vienna School', Schönberg and his circle of students." In the US, most of his recordings were only issued posthumously, generally on minor/independent labels.

Search Add 5 25Hz Zürich-based, Australian artist, producer & composer of upbeat Techno, Deep Tech and Tech House as well as darker, experimental electronica. 25Hz was founded in the shards of 2020 yet forged from a lifelong passion for music and inspired by artists from many genres; Beethoven to Bowie, Mussorgsky to Metallica … and beyond. Driven by a constant need to experience new music, 25Hz took the leap into electronic music production when the world seemed to be falling apart in early 2020, compelled by the desire to share these emotions and perhaps move someone else to feel the same. 25Hz music highlights the sides of the individual that resides behind the persona… experimental, dark almost visceral undertones with haunting, frisson-inducing highs; counterposed by dance music with a true sense of fun, bounce and movement that defies genre labels. So why 25Hz? It's linked to what started me in music production, as well as my cat Loki's reactions to my music... 25Hz is the fundamental frequency of a purr... and at its essence is perhaps the ultimate translation of emotion into sound.
