Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 29/07/2025
Found 602638 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 6 | archeus | "archeus" is a free improvised group of Keiko Higuchi on vocals, Shizuo Uchida on bass, and TOMO on hurdy gurdy. Extraordinary trio ensemble of vocal/voice, bass, and hurdy gurdy triggers an unique chemical reaction of various expressions such as sensitive sound within silence, vocalization of a forgotten and nameless language, interplay of discordant masses of sound, the magic of minimal repetition, and dark/dense drones. They also attempt to improvise with text readings. It is as if the words are given resonance, and appear as a spirit, then seem to melt with the sound.

Search | Add | 6 | Grupo Illiniza | Grupo illiniza (also known as illiniza) is a cultural association from Ecuador centered in Popular Latin American music since 1979. It has been recognized as one of the most influential musical ensembles in the country. Grupo illiniza was established in 1979 in Quito city and debuted on TV by winning a national music contest. The ensemble was created with the idea of culturally linking and preserving the different nationalities and music of the communities that make up Latin America. It all began at the Instituto Nacional Mejía of Quito, a high school made up of city youth, some of whom were quite concerned about the reality of the time, and wanted to do something proactively in order to change things and influence people in a positive way. To talk about Latin America, its music and traditions, means speaking about its cultural identity. Only by getting closer to those communities that still preserve the roots of their nationhood and engaging with their different cultural manifestations (i.e. song, music, dance, art), can we begin to understand the reasons for their behavior, assess their roles in history and their struggles to preserve a millenarian, multicultural heritage that has defied the incessant alienation to which it has been subjected. Grupo illiniza has performed on stage next to musicians and dancing ensembles from Latin America, North America, Europe and Asia such as Inti-Illimani, Joan Manuel Serrat, Luis Eduardo Aute, Mercedes Sosa, Silvio Rodríguez, León Gieco, The Moscow Ballet, Piero De Benedictis, Alex Alvear, Los Olimareños, Los Visconti, Tito Fernández, Illapu, Gabino Palomares, Los Folkloristas, Pete Seeger, Holly Near, Bernice Johnson Reagon, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Vicente Feliú, Tania Libertad, Quinteto Tiempo, Manuel Capella, Grupo Raiz, Noel Nicola, Kosetsu Minami, Adrian Goizueta, Pueblo Nuevo, Jaime Guevara, Roy Brown, Carlos Díaz "Caíto", Luis Enrique Mejía Godoy, among others. The members of the group are generally invited to tour European or American countries with the purpose of sharing their repertoire which is varied and elaborate, demonstrating instrumental and vocal virtuosity in festivals and concerts that include performing genres such as fusion, world music, folk, Latin, trova, Afro Caribbean, Andean, Brazilian, and nueva canción, among others. In 2010 Grupo illiniza received several Awards in a national music composition contest entitled Canción de los Andes which is organized yearly by the Education Ministry of Ecuador. The categories include Innovation of Musical Genre and Execution of musical instruments. Throughout its long musical career spanning over 30 years, the Association has received several National and International awards as well as distinctions including trophies, gold and silver medals, certifications in European as well as American music and dance competitions, festivals and concert performances. They have also been awarded the prestigious title Ambassadors of Art and Friendship in Belgium. Two books and other publications cite Grupo illiniza as a reference in various musical genres. These include Andean Music and Ecuadorian Musical Groups. Grupo illiniza has been recognized by respected musicologists like director and musical composer Julio Bueno as being one of the most important representative groups of Ecuador's popular music.

Search | Add | 6 | The European All Stars | This was a selected group of musicians from several European countries for a jazz festival in Berlin over the Pentecost/Whitsun weekend in 1961. From the liner notes of the record 1961 recorded at the festival: "At Whitsun, jazz lovers from all parts of Germany, and even from the large regions behind the Iron Curtain met in Berlin. They were there to see and hear jazz on stage, its different musical ways of expressions, and its various relations to other forms of art. This festival was marked by two highlights: first, the genius of Thelonious Monk spreading dramatic tension, as usual, and the performance of the European All Stars presented by Joachim-Ernst Berendt. -- Thirteen musicians came together, from twelve countries -- each country sending its leading musician, says Berendt. ..."

Search | Add | 6 | Frank Virtuoso | Francis F. Virtuoso | Born on January 21, 1923. He played the violin as a child and took up the guitar and the double bass as a teenager. He continued with the latter as a member of the Philadelphia Orchestra and studied orchestration at Temple University. He enlisted in the Navy in 1945 and became bandleader of the Regular Navy Dance Band in Bainbridge, Maryland. He was discharged in 1946 because his father, who had been diagnosed with cancer, could no longer support his family. Virtue considered putting together a big band but, due to financial constraints, assembled an amplified trio instead, with Ralph Frederico on the piano and Steve Rossi on the guitar. Virtue named the band the Virtuoso Trio after their formation in 1947. The Virtuoso Trio toured the regional club circuit for the better part of a decade, playing as far as Canada and making regular appearances on Philadelphia radio and television. They appear to have been the house band at Chubby's Cafe in West Collingswood, New Jersey in 1949 and 1950. They performed as a backup ensemble for Patti Page, Rosemary Clooney, Dick Haymes, June Christy, and others. When local Pennsylvanians Bill Haley & the Comets hit big in the mid-1950s, Virtue found a receptive audience in the teenagers who loved the nascent rock & roll craze. By this time, the group's lineup had expanded, with Virtue on the bass, John Renner on the saxophone, Jimmy Bruno on the guitar, Joe Vespe on the drums, and Dave Kaplin as an occasional vocalist. Under the name the Virtues, they released a rock reworking of Arthur "Guitar Boogie" Smith's country hit "Guitar Boogie" in 1958 under the title "Guitar Boogie Shuffle", on the Hunt label. The instrumental became a major hit in the U.S., peaking at #27 on the Black Singles chart and #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1959. The single also became a sheet music smash, selling well worldwide. Several singles followed – "Flippin", "Boogie Woogie", "Vaya con Dios" – but none of them succeeded; the group was signed by ABC-Paramount, but their only return to the charts was with the 1962 release "Guitar Boogie Shuffle Twist" which reached #95 in the United States pop charts. Towards the end of 1962, Virtue disbanded the group and primarily pursued a career as a record producer and recording engineer. His original studio, in the basement of his house on Fayette Street, was where "Guitar Boogie Shuffle" was originally recorded. He opened a new business, [l368463], located at 1618 N. Broad St., which became one of the top studios in Philadelphia for a number of years until closing in the early 1980s. He produced and mixed (with his wife Mary Anne Virtue) groups such as "Society's Child", a top 40 band from the Wilmington, Delaware area. Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, among others, produced records at Virtue's studio before moving on to [l264049]. The song "Hey There, Lonely Girl" by Eddie Holman was produced at the studio, as were "That's Life" and "Who Stole the Keeshka?" by Gabriel & the Angels. In later years Virtue Studios was the home of a number of rap groups, including Dr. Roxx & Co. Collectables Records released a collection of Virtues instrumentals in 1993 as Guitar in Orbit.. |

Search | Add | 6 | Entrail | From the artist's Facebook Bio: Violin textures and harmonies, poetry, pretty ugly patches. Scraps of my innards made into music, offering them up to share. "Entrail's debut release is two dark and brooding pieces of classically influenced experimental music. Layers of noise, keys and violin provide a foundation for lyrics rife with dagger sharp social commentary and expression of the hopelessness of the human condition. Dismal in tone and beautifully grim, "Ursula" is positively haunting." --Flossless Audio

Search | Add | 6 | Frankenshred | FRANKENSHRED, formed in late 1996, started out as an instrumental project. The original line-up consisted of Dr. Frankenshred (guitar, known also from COMMANDMENT, as JR3), W.W. Spencer (bass), and Kelly Knight (drums). By June of 1997 FRANKENSHRED recorded a self-titled instrumental album engineered by Michael Vein and released it on cassette. Many positive reviews and a lot of live dates followed, including shows with LYNCH MOB, SACRED REICH and TONY MACALPINE. In October 1998 the band split up due to different personal obligations. At this time the Doctor retained his role as Dr. Frankenshred and joined the shock metal band ST. MADNESS, with whom he performed on "God Bless America" (1998), "Scare The World" (1999) and "We Make Evil Fun" (compilation released in 2003). More live dates followed including shows with KING DIAMOND, FLOTSAM & JETSAM, SACRED REICH, VAN HALEN and at MILWAUKEE METALFEST 12 & 13. In 2000 the original FRANKENSHRED line-up reformed and recorded a follow up instrumental CD called "Evil Shred" that was released on Guitar Nine Records and one year later made available also for downloading through David T. Chastain's Diginet Music label. This recording led to having the song "Igor's Revenge" featured on the 2001 guitar compilation called "Lick This" which also featured guitar shredders Rusty Cooley and Mike Chlasciak. Also in 2001 Dr. Frankenshred recorded another CD, released through Diginet Music label (as a part of the "Guitar Masters" series) which featured Dr. Frankenshred (guitar), David T. Chastain (bass) and Mike Haid (drums). Other guitar shredders were involved in this series, including Gus G. This also led to a live performance at the annual Ibanez Jemfest in Orlando, Florida in 2001. Another CD called "Extreme Solos" was also released in 2001 on the Diginet label, which features guitar solos by Dr. Frankenshred, Joe Stump and David T. Chastain among others. Around this time in 2002, the band tried to add a vocalist to the line-up. Many auditions were held and unfortunately meanwhile the original Frankenshred drummer quit due to not being able to agree on which vocalist to use and what direction to pursue. It wasn't until 2004 that a vocalist and a new drummer were secured. This line-up featured Rich McManus (vocals), Dr. Frankenshred (guitar), W.W. Spencer (bass) and Greg Hall (drums, SACRED REICH). The same year new CD was recorded at Tall Cat Studios in Phoenix, Arizona and was mixed and mastered in Germany at The Music Factory by Christian Schmid at the recommendation from David T. Chastain. Many live dates followed including shows with METAL CHURCH, GRAVE DIGGER, LIZZY BORDEN, ATOMIC PUNKS, GARY HOEY and JACKYL. By 2006 the singer and bass player quit due to the frustrating state of the music industry. In 2008 a suitable vocal and bass replacements were found. This line-up featured Kyran Brennan (vocals), Dr. Frankenshred (guitar), Robbie Erwin (bass), Greg Hall (drums, SACRED REICH). In 2009 new songs were recorded, mixed and mastered at Tall Cat Studios, Phoenix Arizona. FRANKENSHRED's music caught the interest of Metal On Metal Records, who offered the band to release "Cauldron Of Evil", that is the previously unreleased album from 2004 and 5 songs from the 2009 sessions as bonus tracks. The CD was released in December 2009. As the name suggests, there's plenty of fretboard gymnastics, but it's not just shredding for the sake of shredding. Dr. Frankenshred proves once again that he's also a great composer and chooses to work with some of the best musicians around, which resulted in an album loaded with kickass restless and aggressive songs with lots of hooks - all played on the highest level. Fans of solid traditional US power/speed metal verging on thrash, full of brilliant guitar tactics, should not hesitate to grab "Cauldron Of Evil". During 2009 FRANKENSHRED parted ways with the vocalist Kyran Brennan and, due to his obligations with SACRED REICH, Greg Hall had to leave the band as well. The drum position was quickly taken by Tom Higgins, however the search for the right vocalist continued... Meanwhile the band played several instrumental gigs as well as with a temporary fill-in vocalist, including a show with Y&T and at a gig Metalstock Festival in Arizona. In 2010 Metal On Metal Records decided to make the first 2 instrumental FRANKENSHRED albums available again, however in a digital format (through the new division DigiMetal), due to the lack of space in the release schedule and the fact that instrumental music has a narrower audience. The albums (re-released as "Into The Lab Vol. 1: Frankenshred" and "Into The Lab Vol. 2: Evil Shred" with several bonus tracks) were made available through CD Baby digital distribution in July 2010. These albums are full of dark and heavy, but also fun music by 3 highly skilled musicians (no computer generated drum tracks!) who don't just show how good they are, but can actually compose enjoyable instrumental songs that can appeal also to non-musicians. And most of all they are METAL (rooted in traditional US metal, speed and thrash, in the same style as "Cauldron Of Evil"), contrary to many shredders' albums. (source: http://metal-on-metal.com)

Patterson Barrett moved to Austin shortly after appearing on Jerry Jeff Walker’s first release on MCA records, playing pedal steel, dobro, and guitar (including the song “L.A. Freeway”). Not long after arriving in Austin, he formed the band Partners In Crime, which included Buddy and Julie Miller, releasing one album on their own label, Criminal Records. In the years since, Patterson produced some of Hal Ketchum’s earliest demos, served in Al Kooper’s back-up band, and performed before 10,000 festival-goers as Chuck Berry’s pianist. He accompanied Nancy Griffith on Austin City Limits, legendary Austin singer Lou Ann Barton in music clubs around the country, and Buddy Miller on several records including his recent collaboration with Jim Lauderdale, Buddy & Jim. Patterson's discography includes three solo endeavors—I Must Be Dreaming (2007), "When I Was Your Age…" (2012), and the 2018 release, Give ‘Em What They Want. He cites Neil Young and country-rock pioneers Poco and the Flying Burrito Brothers as his early influences, as well as soul stalwarts such as Sam and Dave, The Temptations, and Marvin Gaye.
