Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024

Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 7 Genericartensemble Genericartensemble are Gunnar Ebert and Wolfgang Spelmans. "Genericartensemble experiments at the interface between random, technology, poetry and new media. Changes the familiar patterns of perception. In an unconventional approach of networking and interaction, the ensemble develops audio-visual concepts in a generic process, in tune with time and place. Typography, images, movement and sounds merge into an ever-changing process. In exhibitions, concerts and performances, the entire spectrum of generic disciplines is consciously implemented with analogue and digital tools."

Alexander started making music in 2000 and is best known as Banana Inc., an alias he created as an ideal match for the famous "Monkey Island" track released in 2004 as a tribute to the Monkey Island video game theme song. He was also known as ClubPimps and DanceCore Maniax and started producing Hip Hop beats in the mid-2000s as The Analogy, inspired by artists like Mobb Deep, G-Unit, Nas, Jadakiss, Styles P and The Alchemist. In 2006, Alexander founded the Hands Up groups Minozza Inc. with Dennis Nicholls from Verano and Dirty Larry with Dennis Johannsen, aka Freddy Hawk. In 2010, he produced Madam Michelle's debut single "MP3" and "Den Sorte Dame" for Robin og Bugge, which was named "Russelåt" of the year in Norway. The following year, in 2011, an unreleased Electro track called "Bli Med Meg Hjem" with Robin og Bugge gave birth to Kamazutra, a project Alexander and co-producer Stian Kittilsen, known as Stian K, formed with producer and songwriter Erik Smaaland and rapper Suchet Dhindsa, aka Lættis Weed. After releasing his last House productions with the Foreign Language alias during the mid-2010s, Alexander had to conclude his music hobby because of his time-consuming involvement in the insurance industry.

Search Add 7 Sylva M. Gelber Born in Toronto in 1910, Sylva M. Gelber was a distinguished Canadian who served Canada in various capacities, most notably as Director of the Women’s Bureau of the Department of Labour and Canadian representative on the UN Commission for the Status of Women (1970-74). She held many international appointments during her lifetime, including that of Canadian delegate to the United Nations General Assembly (1976 and 1978). She was an Officer of the Order of Canada. Shortly after her death in December 2003, a Globe and Mail article described her as follows: Sylva Gelber, who gained national prominence in the late sixties as director of the women’s bureau in the federal Department of Labour, was an outspoken advocate of women’s rights who helped to introduce equal-pay legislation, maternity leave and women’s pension benefits into Canadian society. Known for her wit, humour and a love of music, stylish clothes and fast cars, she led a colourful life that included early stints in theatre and radio. She also spent 15 years as a medical social worker and government administrator in British-mandate Palestine, an experience she chronicled in No Balm in Gilead, an award-winning 1989 memoir. – “Feminist Tore Down Barriers“, Globe & Mail, January 31, 2004 Sylva M. Gelber had passions for both music and the visual arts, and a keen desire to help unusually talented musicians to fulfill their potential. She established her Foundation as a vehicle to help young musicians at the beginning of their professional careers, and took a keen interest and delight in maintaining personal contact with many of the winners of the Foundation’s awards.

Search Add 7 Gegenschein Gegenschein was a Dutch post-rock band that existed from 2013-2022. The members of Gegenschein were Henk Bril (a.k.a. "the Genius"), Rob Hotje (a.k.a. "the Voice") and William MacVaine (a.k.a. "the Wizzard"). Gegenschein was based in Sittard, The Netherlands. HQ was the 'ARSIS Studios' (ARSIS: A Roof Somewhere in Sittard), owned by William MacVaine. The musical style is a post-rock melting pot with influences of Pink Floyd, Brian Eno, Rammstein, Alan Parsons, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Electric Light Orchestra, Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Anne Pigalle, Manuel Gottsching, Laurie Anderson and Kraftwerk. Although the name sounds German, most songs are in English. The first album 'Dark Moon Over Paradise' was released in December 2015; the second album 'Struggle For Passion' was released in November 2019. In January 2022 a compilation double lp was released with highlights from the two CD's and two previously unreleased numbers. Work had begon on their third album 'Magnificient Desolation', but COVID-19 restrictions from 2020 through 2022 delayed the work on the album significantly. The unexpected split up of the band (July 2022) unfortunately makes it uncertain that it will be finalized. However it is the intention of the former band members that it will be finished and released on lp or cd. Gegenschein (German pronunciation: [ˈɡeːɡənʃaɪn] German for "countershine") is a faint brightening of the night sky in the region of the antisolar point. [Source: Wikipedia.]

Search Add 7 DE3IVAT DE3IVAT is one more brainchild of multmedia artists Mirco Dalos & Christoffer Grunau. After putting T3AFO to rest with a huge mass of audio samples, fragments, visuals and ideas flying around, there was hardly a thought of finishing. It's merely in the art of stopping and starting again that gave birth to DE3IVAT. Joy, fun and the idea of »let's see what happens« had to be the defined watchwords for bringing something to the table again. As multi-media location-based art involves many many people, budgets, negotiations and, yes, also frustrations at time, DE3IVAT is home-made, ever-fresh, like a child-play. So we assess all available data from the T3AFO archive, take our field recorders & cameras for walks and rides again, liberate us from constraining thoughts and produce material that is as light as it is satisfying. Take a noise here, perform a beat there, find a voice that might not be listened to and mould it into NOI_ES POP. DE3IVAT's first major operation is a six-EP-series, starting August 31st, 2018. The objective is to release a product all three months ending Xmas 2019 with an extra special product that still needs to define itself. So now it's up to you to enjoy: Play our music loud or not at all. To hell with any bullshit!

The duet of Moscow artists Rosalia Simanovskaya and Miron Raskatov enjoyed fame in the 1920s–1950s. The musicians' repertoire included arrangements of popular classics, songs, and dance music. In the 1950s, they recorded a lot on records - as a duet and accompanied by a pop orchestra. During the war, they played as part of propaganda brigades on different fronts - from the Northern to the Southern. On such trips they did without a marimbaphone: Miron Raskatov played the ukulele, Rosalia Simanovskaya played the accordion.

Search Add 7 Isobel Caldwell Born in Hong Kong and raised mostly in Naarm, Isobel Caldwell is an artist who weaves together her reflections and observations on life experiences with an intricate and meditative style. With a delicate balance of soft, soaring vocals, and lilting guitar arrangements, her music has been described as a warm hug; the perfect tonic for a weary mind. Isobel began writing songs at the tender age of 7, when her Mum made her some books to write stories and poems in. This evolved further after moving to Kulin Nations land in 2005, first writing songs with piano, and then with guitar, which she took to the streets busking in the CBD as a teenager. After leaving school, Isobel studied jazz performance, and she brings elements of many genres to her sound and shows, drawing on the styles she has fallen in love with over the years. Exploring the different textures in her sound and writing, she takes great influence from artists such as Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell, Norah Jones, Fiona Apple and Missy Higgins (to name a few of many). Expressive and emotive vocals aside, Isobel’s signature ability to make the simplest, everyday observations laden with meaning and emotional subtext has both a grounding and boundless effect, always seeking to delve a little deeper into the significance of everything around us. With a wealth of performing experience under her belt as a band member of soul/funk 8 piece The Mamas, and ⅕ of wonky rock sweethearts Quality Used Cars, 2022 is set to be a monumentous year for Isobel, where she will release her debut album ‘Duty of Care’, a chronicle of various experiences and processes from the past 3 years.

At the moment he is involved in several projects that often bring him to Italys capitol, Rome, where hes collaborating with the brand new electronic music label Beatperminute. Looking constantly for new techniques, Panùm gets inspired by the minimal germanic sound. He started writing music in 1994. First efforts were made on a big variety of old analogue synthesizers. Stagnating in this genres limited possibilities, MODO AZUL completely switched to computer generated music in 1999. Since then the music areas he covers vary from Acid Jazz, Lounge, Drum and Bass, Break and Bossa, Down Tempo and Ambient. Generally, the music you can listen to on MODO AZUL reflects his personal view of his mostly appreciated styles. MODO AZUL neither wants to imitate nor to sound like something new. All tracks were written absolutely intuitional, without consciously targeting any particular areas of todays popular dance, electronic and listening music.

They started working together in Fall 2012, besides misc activities, carefully crafting some demos which quickly became the core of their first album : «Roseland». Since the very first note, they focused on trying something different than the standard rock album, mixing every influence that has shaped them along the way. Thus The View Electrical is the perfect crossover of various genres like folk, hip hop, ambient, metal, new wave, original soundtracks and nineties indie rock.

Search Add 7 Mater Dronic José Carlos Sisto José Carlos Sisto takes years giving shape and meaning to his passion for music though their projects have not found until recently, enough support to materialize as intended. Jerez birth, he moved to Madrid in 1999 where he lived for 12 years after which it returns to his native Jerez. In 1994 he mounted in Jerez a group called the Expressionists, powerpop with acid touches. In 2001 he rides the Fuzz Machine group which recorded a demo and get good reviews. A point were to take an EP with the title "Purple Burning" but a disastrous management of the seal was going to take care of editing, frustrated the project. The themes of this album would appear years later in CD The group lost two of its components, while Jose Carlos goes ahead only willing to burn a psychedelic approaches focusing on its disk. Thus, published in 2005 the first album from his new project, Mater Dronic, with the title "Ghost World." Again run into people who bet word for his work with little work and even just taking advantage of the situation. Therefore, he is liable to distribute on their own. National specialized media show no interest, state seals and not just a Dutch distributor called Clear Spot moves cd with a very positive expectation is generated beyond our borders. A mid two thousand would record "Drónicas Sessions Vol. 2" in a project called Fuzzy Lady and other musicians he recorded a CD with the title of "negative space" Acid Minds, among other personal work as "Gemini Suite". By 2009 contacts who offers Enrique Rivas edit the album "Ghost World" on vinyl. The process culminated in 2013 with the release by Personal Edition Disk Juana Granados, a name that corresponds to a family dear Henry. The edition of 200 copies sold out in a month mainly because the album was advertised abroad with a good overview of the German label Shadocks responsible.
