Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025

Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 J.Kendall J. Kendall, a self-taught musician, singer, songwriter and producer got his start in a Chicago church where he began playing bass guitar at the age of 15. While attending college (studying engineering), he began to play and be exposed many other types of music including jazz and rock. After graduating he began working as a computer programmer. Not getting a sense of fulfillment from the programming job, he began to save money to make a move into the music business. After a year of planning, J. Kendall gave 2 weeks notice and began to work part time as a personal trainer so he could spend the bulk of his time recording the album 'Make Your Move'. 'That's what the title song is all about. Doing what you feel in your heart even when it goes against the grain. There were people who didn't believe I could/should do it. I decided to focus on what makes me happy. This is one of the ideas I hope to convey with this album. ' J. Kendall has done just that while also creating a work that combines the many musical styles that have influenced him. Melodic ballads, cool instrumentals and funky mid-tempo tunes. This album has it all.

Search Add 2 Dr. Alphonse Mabuse Mike Murphy Doc Mabuse, a.k.a. Mike Murphy, is a St. Louis native and founding member of that city’s HEARding Cats artists’ collective. He makes a living designing software and hardware (“wares, soft to firm to hard,” as he puts it) but spends most of his time building synthesizers, which he uses to make wild and entirely left-field improvised music. The instruments, which he labels either “modules” or “electroniums” (meaning “a synthesizer that acts suspiciously like it’s broken”), have names like The Jackelope, The Feminine Prerogative-Based Control-Voltage Generator and il Viaggio di Marconi, the last of which is a gorgeous object built from a box of chocolates he once received for Christmas. Murphy is co-founder of HEARding Cats along with [a448161] (a former percussionist with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and music director of the St. Louis New Music Circle), Davey Williams (an avant-garde guitarist and co-founder of The Improviser, a journal of experimental music) and the jazz pianist and North Little Rock native Chris Parker.

Search Add 2 Po' Boi Jimmy Petty Jimmy Petty (Po' Boi) was born in Huntsville, Alabama on July 27, 1975. He was raised by his parents, Jefferie and Charles Petty, and his paternal grandmother "Mama" in the Terry Heights Community of Huntsville. Po' Boi became interested in music early in life. In 1983, at the age of 8, he began singing. Then in 1985 he began writing songs, which he later converted into raps. In 1987, Po' Boi and his little brother Paul (Krystyle) won their first talent show, featuring rapper Doug E. Fresh. In the 1990's Po' Boi would continue to captivate and entertain audiences. In 1990 he wrote and performed the single "Hillbilly Funk", with the group Mass Confusion, at the First Annual Black Arts Festival in Huntsville. This rap placed first in the Amateur Music Talent Competition. Later that same year, at the Heritage Festival in Birmingham, they also performed "Hillbilly Funk" which earned yet another first place. In 1994, he participated in the 'Jack the Rapper Convention', which made the industry aware of his determination and skills. Later in 1994, after witnessing the gradual decline of his neighborhood, Po' Boi was inspired to write and perform a local Public Service Announcement, "Stop the Violence", which was aired on all local television stations. This Public Service Announcement not only raised community awareness in his neighborhood, but in surrounding neighborhoods as well. In 1995 his first single "Peanut Butter" was completed and released on the Backyard Entertainment label. "Peanut Butter" reached the number five spot on the Underground rap chart and the number fourteen spot on the Top Billboard rap chart. In the summer of 1996, Po' Boi teamed up with Durdee Souph Promotions & Management Team. A week later he was introduced to Mr. Malcolm Gopher, President of Lavish Records, and independent label based in Huntsville, Alabama, and after an exhibition of his skills he was signed to the Lavish Records' label. His first single under the Lavish Records' label, "Red Light, Green Light" is due to be released in 1997. From his humble beginning, competing in local talent shows in grade school, to opening up for well known artists such as: Naughty By Nature, Tag Team, and 69 Boys, Po' Boi has been able to maintain his composure and wait for his door to open. With patience and the will to succeed, Po' Boi was able to conceive and give birth to "Operation Motivation: G-Force"

Search Add 2 The Cult Of Aggemar Metal band from Noord-Brabant, The Netherlands. Active since April 2012. 5 individuals who all had a vague vision with a date, a time and a place, a secret temple located somewhere in Dongen, this is where they met each other and found an ancient encrypted book. The book of "AGGEMAR". After translating the first pages the book appeared to contain rituals, spells, sheet music, prayers, stories and more about the ancient king Aggemar, his kingdom and his moon tribe. Aggemar forced the 5 individuals, from his kingdom, to found "The Cult of Aggemar", start a band and explore their new found religion. The members have to tell the story of the death of Aggemar, his thoughts and the wars that led to the downfall of his kingdom, his moon tribe and the end of the world. These events all took place well before the rise of dinosaurs and humans. Still, not everything is clear, because the translation is still in full swing to this day. The music of the cult are translations and narrations from the book of "Aggemar". Comparisons are made with Limp Bizkit, Iron Maiden, Korn and Body Count and they have common ground with groovy nu-rap metal, but they are also completely unique and authentic in their sound. According to stories from the audience, the performances are energetic, contain humour, obviously have a lot of fun on the stage and the singer could have been a rapper as well. Earlier celebrations took place with First Fight Down, Bestial Devastation, Buzz Rockington (and others) and were on Rocktober Fest, Sound of Wollukstock en Slim in de Lift.

Bruno Bischofberger has been running an eponymous independent gallery in Zurich for over sixty years, best known for his close association with [a=Andy Warhol] and [a=Jean-Michel Basquiat] and for championing numerous other notable American and European conceptualists, minimalists, neo-expressionists and pop artists. He resides in a house on Lake Zurich designed by renowned Italian architect [a=Ettore Sottsass] (1917—2007). Bischofberger studied art history, archaeology and ethnography at the University of Zurich, continuing his education at the Universities of Bonn and Munich. In 1963, Bruno launched his gallery on Pelikanstrasse, called initially "city-galerie." In 1965, Bischofberger hosted the gallery's debut Pop Art exhibition, featuring [a=Roy Lichtenstein], [a=Robert Rauschenberg], [a=Tom Wesselmann], [a=Claes Oldenburg] and [a=Jasper Johns], among others. Bruno met [a=Andy Warhol] in New York City in 1966, soon befriending him. Two years later, Warhol allowed Bischofberger to pick several early unpublished works; subsequently, he granted Bruno exclusive "first refusal" rights on all future artworks, lasting until Andy's death in 1987. Bruno Bischofberger continued showcasing exported contemporary art throughout the 1970s, expanding to minimalism, conceptualism and Land Art and featuring [a=Sol Lewitt], [a=Donald Judd], [a=Dan Flavin], [a=Bruce Nauman], [a=Joseph Kosuth] and [a=On Kawara]. He also became a representative of several Nouveau Réalisme artists, including [a=Yves Klein], [a=Daniel Spoerri] and [a=Jean Tinguely]. In 1981, Bruno Bischofberger visited a New York/New Wave exhibition curated by [a=Diego Cortez] at P.S. 1 Contemporary Art Center in Long Island City, Queens. Burroughs], [a=Robert Mapplethorpe], [a=Keith Haring], [a=Fab 5 Freddy], [a=Futura 2000], and [a=Ann Magnuson], to name just a few. Most importantly, Bischofberger first saw [a=Jean-Michel Basquiat]'s works there. By 1982, Bruno became his primary international dealer, representing Basquiat for the rest of his life. Bruno continued to explore and promote other Neo-Expressionist artists in the 1980s, including [a=Miquel Barceló], [a=George Condo], [a=Francesco Clemente (2)], [a=Enzo Cucchi], [a=Tom Dokoupil], [a=David Salle] and [a=Julian Schnabel]. Search Add 2 Vukašin Đelić An interest in exploring different sound worlds has always run through the music of Serbian guitarist Vukašin Đelić. His creative process has gone through various phases, starting from early 2000’s where he approached the guitar as a receiver, much like a radio. Using objects and devices such as mobile phones, diskmans, media players, computer equipment and other battery powered utilities, he composed music based almost solely on these frequencies and interferrences. The results were recordings, that he released under the name WoO, during the period between 2006 and 2012. During that time, he played numerous concerts around Europe and USA, along with visual artist Incredible Bob. Their A/V shows were famous for using analog and then later digital video feedback and organic electronic music to create mesmerizing, dreamy audio visual psychedelia. After those six years, his focus has shifted towards improvisational methodologies and collaborations with various musicians. His group Belgrade Noise was exclusively improvised and dedicated their existence to invite different musicians to collaborate on a material that would be performed in concerts around the region and Europe. He was part of ImprovE collective that organized montly events of improvised music. In 2016. he formed Dol, a band inspired by road movies, travel literature, early blues and folk music but also by motorik beats and swirling sounds and melodies. Vukašin also plays in Limbo Lighting, duo inspired by minimalism, kosmiche and tribal music, with sound artist Marko Paunović who plays tape reels, synths and harmonium. His great love for spiritual and free jazz has channeled in his trio called Katastar, where besides him, on drums is Marko Stričević ( Dzezbollah ) and on upper bass and saxophone Tomislav Marjanović ( Crno Dete, Cyclist Conspiracy ). In his solo works, all these worlds often collide and become something new. Either playing guitar and drums or exploring the wild side of samplers and synths, his music flows through all these different fields and spaces. In 2020, he released a record U Zavisnosti Od Dana, which is his first album under his own name.

Search Add 2 Nick Batik Nicolas Antoniazzi Nick Batik started to spin records in 2007 in different parties and clubs in his birth town Santa Fe, Argentina. Obtaining the residency in one of the mythical parties from Santa Fe, La Quimera, he shared the DJ booth with the most important House & Techno artists from the Argentinian scene. His record collection is full of eccentric 12” that go from Ambient, to Deep House, Classic House, Bass House, until reaching a more electric atmosphere like Acid Techno. Now he is focusing on passing hours at his home studio experimenting with synthesizers, sequencers, drum machines, bass machines, making his own sounds and remixes with an unique and organic sound, which he edits in many labels.

Search Add 2 Eyal Netzer Eyal Netzer is a saxophonist and composer. Released his debut album “Speaking Through the Walls” on Creative Sources Recordings – A duet with the renowned saxophonist and composer Stephen Horenstein. Also being active in the Israeli jazz scene, Netzer is a member of Shay Hazan Quintet, a world class jazz quintet, performing on Europe’s prestigious festival stages.
