Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 3 | The Brumbeats | Buddy Ash (Graham Ashford) lead vocal (left 1965) Paul Carter saxophone Alan "Bugsy" Eastwood drums, vocal (left 1966) Graham Gallery bass guitar, vocal (left 1966) Roger Hill guitar, vocal (left 1966) Tony Carter guitar, vocal Robbie Harper guitar, vocal (joined 1966) Alan Buxton drums (joined 1966) This Birmingham group came very close to making a breakthrough into the record charts early in 1964 during the first wave of the British "beat boom" as started by The Beatles and others. The line-up were first known as "The Plazents", named after Mary Regan's well known Plaza Ballroom in Old Hill where the band became the resident act. "They are all good musicians - quite a rarity among modern beat groups" The Plazents were formed in Erdington by drummer Dave Mountney (from the Beachcombers), guitarists Graham Gallery and Roger Hill (both previously with a group called "Bobby and The Dominators") while saxophonist Paul Carter came from Northfield. By 1963, The Plazents had enlisted Buddy Ash from Smethwick, formerly of The Eko's and the Diplomats, as their lead vocalist. While at the Plaza, the group were able to back some well known visiting American artists such as Tommy Roe, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chris Montez, The Ronettes, and many more. The positive response to The Plazents from the Plaza regulars was such that they were signed to a recording contract by Decca Records in July 1963 although it would not be until September before they could go into the studio due to bass guitarist Graham Gallery having a bout with pneumonia. Decca also told the group to get another drummer so Dave Mountney was replaced by Alan "Bugsy" Eastwood. In order to capitalize on the so-called "Mersey Beat" mania that was sweeping the country at that time, the term "Brum Beat" was being used by some promoters as a means of advertising West Midlands groups who had recently been signed-up. In light of this, Decca Records decided that The Plazents name should be changed to "The Brumbeats" prior to the release of their first single. (Note: there was also another 1960's group in Birmingham called "The Brum Beats" whose vocalist Norman Haines would later join the group Locomotive). Decca Records chose a great song for the A-side of The Brumbeats first record release that had been composed by the group themselves. The track was called 'I Don't Understand' with the recording done very much in the style of the popular "Mersey Sound" while also considered as potential material for well known singer Billy Fury. The song was actually composed by the Brumbeats singer Buddy Ash (Graham Ashford) who wrote the lyrics with the music composed by Graham Gallery and Roger Hill. This record was produced by Mike Leander who had recently made hit records with another Brum band The Applejacks. He would later work with The Fortunes and The Montanas before going on to have much success with Gary Glitter in the 1970s. The single's B-side was another up-beat recording titled 'Cry Little Girl, Cry'. Despite radio and TV appearances on shows like "Thank Your Lucky Stars" the Brumbeats 45 did not manage to become a national hit although it was popular throughout the West Midlands and sold-out in many Birmingham record shops. "The Merseyboys" The band's profile also increased when a local newspaper at the time published a story with the headline; "It could be a really fab Feb. for the Brum Beats". The paper went on to say; "They are all good musicians - quite a rarity among modern beat groups - and Decca are considering using them as session men." As well as providing support for visiting acts, The Brumbeats had performed on the same bill as The Beatles whenever they played in the Birmingham area. The Brumbeats similarity in their sound to The Beatles was not lost on Decca as they were soon involved in a recording project resulting in the release of a now-rare 15-track album of Beatles songs as performed by "The Merseyboys" who were really The Brumbeats under a different name. While most Beatles fans would not be fooled by these recordings, the LP stands as a tribute to The Brumbeats as talented musicians and in particular guitarist Roger Hill who brilliantly duplicates both George and John's parts simultaneously as he probably usually did on stage! This album was also issued in the U.S.A. on the famous Vee-Jay Records label - one of the first American labels to promote records by The Beatles. Despite making other recordings for Decca, the Brumbeats unfortunately disbanded in early 1965 when Graham Ashford left to go solo before further records could be released. The group later re-formed for a short time with new members Robbie Harper and Alan Buxton replacing Roger Hill and Bugsy Eastwood. Graham Gallery briefly joined the Rockin' Berries and later became a member of "The Midland Light Orchestra". He also worked with the famous Move and Wizzard performer Roy Wood during the 1970s. Graham died in the 1980s at only 35 years of age. Roger Hill went on to other Birmingham bands including The Uglys and later re-uniting with former Brumbeats drummer Alan Eastwood when they formed the pop/rock group The Exception. Roger enjoyed a successful career as a jazz guitarist until he passed away in 2011 (see Roger Hill). Sadly, Alan "Bugsy" Eastwood also passed away in 2007. Buddy Ash (Graham Ashford) went on to form his own new group in 1965 that was named "The Bobby Ash Sound". Graham later moved to Hawaii and now lives in California where he still continues to perform and write songs. Saxophonist Paul Carter was recently discovered in South Africa where he still lives today.

Search | Add | 3 | Sandy Asirvatham | Baltimore, Maryland American pianist and writer Sandy Asirvatham—known artistically as Sandhya—is a writer, musician, and producer living in Baltimore, although forever a New Yorker at heart. Via obsessive study and practice, she willed herself into the role of working jazz pianist and singer. She produced a collection of originals called MEMOIR (2007)—mini-fictions set to eclectic jazz-pop grooves. Later she brought a quirky, ambitious personal dream to fruition: MOBTOWN MOON, a genre-defying, fully reimagined homage to Pink Floyd’s THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, co-produced by singer-songwriter Ellen Cherry and featuring over 50 Baltimore-based musicians in a crazy blend of styles. Sandy (as then called) began working closely with renowned vocal instructor and producer Pete Strobl in 2018, and completing INNOCENT MONSTER, 10 new original songs that map out a journey from contemplative jazz-influenced singer-songwriter to full-on art-rock diva. Sandhya will beginning releasing new singles from the project in late 2020, with the full album due out in spring 2021.

Search | Add | 3 | Traetormentas | In 2007, more precisely in the month of June, several experienced musicians from the Greater Buenos Aires (Monte Grande / Luis Guillon) joined forces to form the group named Traetormentas. Since then, they started to play their compositions alive, some of which would later were form part of their first demo. This one was record in the month of January of the following year (2008). With this card of presentation, the band started to become a name that appeared on several compilations and fanzines of its musical style. After several concerts, they arrived at 2009, when they released their second independent production, which named “Tormenta de Fuego “. The recording had 7 new compositions and the first demo as a bonus track. As they went through some lineup changes, they presented “Tormenta de Fuego” and even reached Elortondo city in the province of Santa Fe. In 2010 recording sessions began what would eventually was their first full length fully official. This one was called “Jaque Mate” and was published in 2011. Numerous shows throughout the length and breadth of the Argentine territory happened, especially in self-managed way. During this time they began to compose new songs and, in 2013, they entered in studio to craft their second album “Umbral” which has released again through Pulmonar Recordables early 2014. Again they support the whole issue with countless live performances. In these presentations the video clip of “Persiguiendo La Vida” was recorded. The countless shows continued and in 2019 a new LP comes to light with new own compositions with the name of “Memorias de Luz y Sombra”.

Search | Add | 3 | Evil Farm Children | Taking their name from a synopsis of the B-grade, horror flick, Blood on Satan’s Claw, EVIL FARM CHILDREN is a raw and raunchy trio from Canada’s capital with a reputation for intense stage shows. Their sound is real rock’n’roll, with a roots-rock flavour. The band can easily do a rocking surf instrumental with the fervor of Dick Dale, and, in a heartbeat, shift gears to roll right into a rockin’ rockabilly rave up, or a Stooges influenced, feedback infused, pounding rock’n’roll song. Formed in the summer of 2005, this trio was regularly playing many of Ottawa’s live music venues, as well as traveling to play various clubs in Toronto, Montreal, London, Hamilton, Peterborough, and several other towns in Southern Ontario. They performed at the 2008 Ottawa Blues Festival, one of the most popular music festivals in North America. Their original material, as captured in their recordings (see below) matters most, but for their live shows, the band likes to have fun by whipping out some heavily “Evil-ized” versions of songs by the likes of Max Webster, Dick Dale, Black Sabbath, Tom Waits, Deke Dickerson, Link Wray, The Cramps, and The Runaways.

Search | Add | 3 | Marshmallow Soup Group | Canadian pop psych band formed in the summer of 1967 in Kingston, Ontario. They soon moved to Ottawa to sign with manager [a2107040]. Members were John Lemmon (organ, vocals), Wayne Sweet (lead guitar, vocals), Ron "Smack" Smith (bass, vocals), and Tim Cottini (drums). Tim Eaton joined the group later as lead singer in early 1969 before they started recording, first with radio jingles for the United Way charities and the Canada Welfare Council. Their popularity with radio listeners led to signing with [l71736]'s nascent [l335147] in late 1969. Marshmallow Soup Group had only one hit record, "I Love Candy" penned by Eaton, in 1969. The record was released in November to coincide with their trip to Lima, Peru where they performed at the International Trade Fair as Goodwill Ambassadors of Canada for the Federal Department of Trade and Commerce. They also toured Japan, Mexico, Hawaii and the US in that role. They released a follow-up single in 1970 that did not do as well on the charts in Canada, and did not break internationally as "I Love Candy" had done. After the demise of the band, Eaton embarked on a solo career in the summer of 1971 and formed his own backing band called Timothy.

Search | Add | 3 | Life In Cage | They started as a trio in 1984 with Christos Skordilis (guitar), Theofilos Tsiolakakis (bass, vocals) and Manolis Romenis (drums). The latter left early due to studies. Theofilos was inspired by the name "The Lion In A Cage" by Genesis P-Orridge of Throbbing Gristle, on the back cover of Clock DVA's Thirst album. With the addition of Babis Argiriou (keyboards, guitar, vocals), Giorgos Kyriakos (guitarist already in International Comedy and Mushrooms) as drummer and Kosmas Alexiou who took over the bass, they released a self-titled tape which was the first release of Lazy Dog Records (1985). In two of the songs on the tape, "Nekropsia" and "Fall (In A Basket Full Of Snakes)", drums were played by Lazaros Pliambas (International Comedy, Proxies, Flood, Grover, Rodama, Dinos Sadikis). After the departure of Theofilos Tsiolakakis, with Babis Argyriou on vocals, the group recorded the songs "Inactive" and "Maybe Some More", which were included on the cassette compilation "Give Bees A Chance" (1985).

Search | Add | 3 | Goodnight Said Florence | Indie / Madchester band (circa 1989) Featuring Nick Holden (Vocal), Lloyb [Jon] (bass), Gareth (Guitar), Michael Davies (Drums), based in Wrexham. They were famous for their Submarine t-shirts, armed with a strong demo called ‘Acid’ under their belts. They were a band that almost made it; they had it all, the music, and the publicity, the following, and even had their CD featured on TVs Tomorrow’s World. The marketing ploy was simple; the Submarine symbol was used more than their GNSF name, to the extent that people thought that Submarine was their name rather than a song title. Goodnight Said Florence signed to Different Class records, changed the line-up, and disappeared without a trace.

Search | Add | 3 | Kindred Sol | Sam Spiers | Electronic sounds with a human touch... Kindred Sol is a project based equally on reflection and escapism, using the world around as inspiration, as well as the inner world of the imagination. In all likelihood, somewhere far out in outer space, there’s a sun similar to ours, orbited by a planet similar to ours. Over tens of thousands of years, perhaps this planet has also been moulded by humanoids - just like ours… If so, hopefully they’re doing a better job of respecting the planet and fellow lifeforms - including each other - than we are here. Kindred Sol is a project that reflects on our world and our condition (and conditioning). It is a project based on the idea that humans are capable of greatness, especially when working together, but also a project influenced by frustration at the position we find ourselves in, a position where it seems the future is rushing in at us much faster than we are moving forward to accept it. Part of what I am trying to achieve is music that either considers - or does its best to escape - the power of opposable thumbs (thumbs that can manipulate and exploit, create and destroy). Though the individual sounds are shaped from the pulse of electricity and the arrangement of 1s & 0s, the underlying tone is human in character - and the final output aims to be something as unique and as imperfect as each of us. |
