Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 13 The Mugris Mauricio Romero The Mugris is the alter ego of Mauricio Romero (aka Mauricio Chispa), a young musician from Talcahuano, Chile, who decides to create this solo project highly influenced by Spacemen 3 and Spectrum records, plus the sound created by some bands that are part of the Not Not Fun Label. The results consist in a groovy and danceable psychedelia that quickly puts you in a hypnotic estate. In his live shows, you are able to appreciate his work where Romero uses similar methodologies used by Peter Kember when he plays with keyboards, small synthesizers and analog stuff. He stablished the fanzine Revista Especial 35° together with [a4813658] in 1998.

Search Add 13 Patrick Upton Patrick Neil Upton After the demise of his band the Spiral Starecase, lead vocalist and guitarist Pat Upton returned back to his hometown of Geraldine, Alabama and took stock. Soured by the vagaries of the business end of rock & roll, he put his career on hold and his life in self-imposed exile, developing his golfing habit to a major degree. After a downtime period, he eased himself back into it, doing session work and finally landing a permanent job as a backup vocalist in Rick Nelson's Stone Canyon Band. He stayed with Rick for several years (he can be heard on Nelson's Playing to Win album) until home and hearth beckoned again, opening up a local nightclub in Guntersville, his club being the last place Nelson worked before flying out that night to his fiery death in a plane crash in 1985. Once again, Upton eased out of music, only to be called on again when he became a mainstay of the California-based oldies show 30 Years Of Rock'n'Roll in the late 1980s. Still more than capable of stealing the show with nothing more than his magnificent tenor voice, Pat Upton remained active, writing and recording new material and performing when he "damn well feels like it". Pat Upton passed away on July 27, 2016, at the age of 75.

The band would eventually play over 1,700 gigs over ten years throughout every corner of Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, as well as western Canada. The nine musicians that eventually played in Silver Laughter had all been teenage friends. The band would also record two albums of original material from which six singles were spawned. The band was originated by Jon Ludtke (guitar/lead singer) and Steve Elliott (bass/lead singer). John Carstensen (lead guitar) and Jon’s brother Kim (Slim) Ludtke (drums) were incorporated within months to complete the original band. With the strong lead singing of Jon and Steve, Silver Laughter had an instant following in the Quad Cities, as the band played covers of some of the 60’s most illustrious rock bands, including the Beatles, the Kinks, the Rolling Stones, Cream, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. Some of the early gigs included the Hullabaloo in Moline, Ill - a left-over vintage teen club of the 1960’s complete with go-go cages, and the famous Col Ballroom in Davenport. From its inception Silver Laughter focused on vocals and harmony, matched with the power of a driving rhythm section and lead guitar. During these early years, the band wrote and performed a few originals which became favorites of their fans.

This group had a moderate reception from the Bolivian public and was later dissolved. After the dissolution of Fox, the members of the band independently belonged to some bands from La Paz such as Chuy & Fly and Drago Drogan, among others, while Rodrigo Villegas became one of the animators of the improvised sessions at the pub "El Socavón", where he was reunited with his former Fox teammates and met vocalist Christian Krauss. Between the two of them, they decided to try their luck and form a new band. That was how Lou Kass was born. The owner of "El socavón" baptized the group "Lucas", a name that was later changed to Lou Kass. In 1992 they released their first album Lou Kass, which was followed by Akasa (1994), which includes songs like "No Reces al Sol" and "Feel High". In full success of the band, the vocalist Christian Krauss decided to travel to Germany without giving further explanations, forcing the rest of the group to continue with the presentations as a trio but without diminishing the receptivity of the band. Finally, during the concert in La Paz on the "Tour SIDA" tour, Loukass recorded his live album entitled Akasa ¡En vivo! and later separated.

Search Add 13 Bob Bryden Canadian songwriter, guitarist, and singer Bob Bryden began his professional music career some time in the early '60s. Over the next four decades he lent his impressive skills to a long line of different bands, appearing on numerous singles and albums with them. Other groups he worked with included the Outcasts, Benzene Jag, the Brick, Age of Mirrors, and the Christopher Columbus Discovery of New Lands Band. When Bryden formed new groups, he usually brought at least a couple of familiar faces along with him. During the latter part of the '70s and even into the early '80s, he tried a turn at a solo career that produced a few more albums. Bob Bryden was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Working with the group Reign Ghost, he saw the release of his first album in 1968. He next recorded with a rock band called by the unlikely name of Christmas. In 1977, Bryden completed his debut solo offering, The Displaced Years. It was released by the Open Heart label and only on cassette. He spent a decade working with other bands before a sophomore solo album hit the market in 1987. Along the way, Bryden appeared on nearly two dozen albums, some reissued years after their original release date.
