Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 4 | Barney Ashton | Barney Ashton-Bullock | Barney Ashton-Bullock is both a re-issue project manager and creative. As well as being the managing director of Strike Force Entertainment, a label distributed through Cherry Red Records, he works for London Recordings - the label that he loved growing up, where he has most recently been involved in overseeing video restorations and project managing an expanded edition of the Redskins album 'Neither Washington Nor Moscow...' He has project managed nearly 100 album re-issues and new albums by heritage artists. Alongside this work, he is also a lyricist/songwriter for Andy Bell of Erasure's 'Torsten' themed solo albums; 'Torsten' being a polysexual, semi-immortal dramatic alter-ego. Barney has also written and performed spoken word passages on Downes Braide Association albums as part of that musical collective alongside Geoff Downes (Buggles, Asia, Yes) and super-producer Chris Braide. He also writes collections of poetry themed to both of the bands he is associated with. The latest photo-poetry book that was made for the Andy Bell is Torsten project was 2020's 'F**kpig Zeitgeist!' which sold out within a weekend and the latest poetry booklet associated with the Downes Braide Association is 'Bucolicism - Alt-Lite Lyric Verse For A Post Pastoral England' which is available through Cherry Red Records. |

Search | Add | 4 | Dirty Old Town | Morten Christensen | Dirty Old Town is an alias of [a=Morten Christensen (2)] Behind the alias Dirty Old Town we find the danish singer/songwriter Morten Christensen, who has embarked on a solo adventure that finds him a long way from his previous band Wrong Side Of Vegas. Dirty Old Town invites you into his world of americana and alternative country with personal songs about curiosity, lost love, unmanageable uncertainty and believing in a better tomorrow. His new album Beauty and Truth draws on inspiration from songwriters such as Ryan Adams, Bob Dylan & Neil Young, as opposed to the dirty and dusty expression from his own debutalbum. |

Search | Add | 4 | Warwick Blair | In the late 1980s, having barely begun what is now a 20-year career, Composer Warwick Blair was already being described as one of New Zealand’s most original musical thinkers (NZ Herald) and the enfant terrible of New Zealand Music (NZ Listener). His first trip to Europe in 1987 was to perform at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival with legendary Greek polymath Iannis Xenakis using UPIC, an early electronic music system. In 1990 his Aotea Centre-opening orchestral performance The Good Seeds Are So Small, performed by the APO and broadcast by Radio New Zealand, was proclaimed concert of the year by seminal music magazine Rip It Up. Having received an AGC Young Achievers Award in 1989, Blair moved to the Netherlands where he studied electronic music and classical composition with Louis Andriessen, and earned a NUFFIC scholarship from the Dutch Government. In 1991 Blair moved from Den Haag to London. Inspired by 4AD groups Dead Can Dance (featuring Lisa Gerrard) and This Mortal Coil, he began diversifying into the wider realms of pop music and formed the band Glory Box. Blair has given concerts in the UK and Europe, including London’s prestigious South Bank Centre in 1994. His recording career includes material for Phonogram Records (Glory Box, 1995) as well as orchestral arrangements for ambient techno terrorist Scanner (1997) and the group Mandalay (V2 Records, 1998) a role that saw him working alongside Madonna/Bjork producer Guy Sigsworth. Reviews have appeared in The Times, NME, Wired and GQ, with radio support coming from BBC Radio 1 and Kiss FM, to name a few. Blair has composed soundtracks and sound design for Gordons Gin, Mastercard, Sky TV and NZ Navy TVCs, as well as working on the film Stargate, the Nintendo game Cartoon Academy, and multimedia presentations for Signpost and Australian Fashion Week for Karen Walker. Returning to New Zealand in the late 90s, Blair spent a few years lecturing at the University of Auckland, where originally he earned his Masters degree in Music (MMus – 1st class, 1987). With 15 years first-hand research into pop culture behind (and presumably still in front of) him, Blair felt compelled to write Accordion, rediscovering the territory that had captivated him in the late 80s, an amalgamation of contemporary classical music with elements of electronic pop culture. Blair’s work Stars, a 24 hour work for Indian female singer and electronic music backing with 6 screen video projection of the heavens (ie. broadly speaking 12 hours of daytime clouds and 12 hours of nighttime stars), has received unanimous praise for its emotional power and structural thought.

Search | Add | 4 | Dann Gunn | Nashville native Dann Gunn has been recording and performing since 1989, initially inspired by the first generation guitar-driven postpunk bands. Dann wanted it to mean something - something spiritual and cathartic while connecting with others. Having felt that his inner life had profited from the thoughts and words of other artists, he felt the need to 'put something back'. Dann learned how to sing and about the writing process while working with his first band, The Square. The members of The Square played multiple gigs across the US and learned the ins and outs of recording together. In 1994, Dann released the album "...sane" on R.E.X. records with his second band, [a695137]. The 'Pede was a heavy-riffing two-man band, years before the White Stripes and Black Keys were accepted by the mainstream. At the time, most people simply found a power rock duo to be a little perplexing. The resulting lack of label support or promotion pushed [a695137] into obscurity, even while they had songs charting on indie radio. After putting a great deal of energy into Velocipede for several years, Dann decided it was time to become a 'solo' artist. "I no longer felt like I could work within a group mentality", he explains, "but I still had songs to get out.." Since "...sane", Dann Gunn has sporadically recorded and performed his starkly minimal and driving music, producing four projects in the process. "Where The Story Goes" (2015 - recorded with tin cans and string), "Easy" (2009 - with Nick Hetzler on guitar and production by [a695127]), "Floating, Spinning, Upside-Down" (1999 - recorded on Mercury Ave. with [a695127]) and "...losing steam" (1997 - recorded at Dolarosa with [a263752]). Dann has written all the songs for these projects, as well as playing bass, guitar, singing and (more recently), programming. Other musicians have included the incredible [a9896698] (Love Circle Logic) on drums, and Nick Hetzler on guitar (Easy). Live performances often featured guitar monster Michael Johnson and drummer Jeff Brown, who is now the 'go to' guy for drums in Nashville. Dann always jokes that making music is 'cheaper than therapy', but there is more than a shred of truth to that statement. Creative people need outlets. Dann now lives with his wife Jenn and family in the Chicago area and has found himself in a bit of a larger world with more opportunities. Plans for more recordings and live shows are underway. He still desires to 'put something back' - to contribute to the positive, visceral impact that music makes on listeners.

Search | Add | 4 | Bobby Meader Music | Bobby Meader Music was just that: the singer-songwriter output of a Las Vegas native stretched over a series of self-distributed releases. The bold attempt to expand a thin, acoustic-based sound into something more substantial almost never materialized. “We didn’t finish the new album we were working on because the day we showed up in Fort Wayne – after touring a month to get there from Vegas after the holidays – our drummer told us he wanted to go home and he left us high and dry. And the drummer we had before that we had to kick out mid-tour in Grand Junction, Colorado because he started causing a bunch of trouble.” Whether or not the work-in-progress was named I Think I Learned the Most From You for either – or both – of the two ousted drummers is one thing. It’s another to guess that the Nevada four-piece has gained valuable experience from trudging through these issues without label or agent support. Meader has served as the madman behind this operation, but his intelligence comes through with his determination following suit. They have played such festivals as Treefort Music Fest in Boise, Launch Music Conference in Lancaster, Pennsylvania as as well as unofficial SXSW showcases in Austin. They continue to relentlessly tour for 12 months a year, with over 300 shows scheduled for 2016. “The time had come to trade in my Prius for a fifteen-passenger Econoline and ask buddies to play and tour with me.”

It is precisely here that the AVORIAZ project was born: on the border of two worlds: that of Joachim Garraud and that of DeLaurentis. An almost obvious meeting, that of artists whose common passion, generates a unique creation of its kind: an organic and collaborative electro. AVORIAZ was born somewhere in the Californian desert, nourished by solar and telluric energy. A rich music that takes root in French electro, but also in international pop: that of the dancefloors, of the great movements of freedom. AVORIAZ: a powerful and melodic electro: relentlessly effective and captivating. |

Search | Add | 4 | Rustre | Lukas Schöttner | Rustre's songs negotiate opposites. His figures move between melancholic doubt and detached confidence. They ask questions and search for answers. And where human language reaches its limits and becomes a cage of thoughts, music becomes a universal means of expression. The singer and musician from Leipzig consciously searches for friction, uncompromisingly combines analogue instruments with electronic sequences and natural field recording samples with melodically blurred soundscapes - all arranged, recorded and mixed by himself. Rustre gives things the time they need. And thus, canonical song structures are dissolved, clear lines are broken. Instead: impatient rhythms, distorted bass guitars and warped instruments, rustling sound samples that first creep in quietly, building up layer by layer, to rage into a powerful discharge. Often, the songs end somewhere completely different than where they started. Everything may be as it is. |
