Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024

Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Kala Preet Kala Preet are a punjabi bhangra band formed in the late 60's, their eponymous album Shava Shava released in the 80's remains a classic hit album. Kala Preet continue with love PA's and jamming from time to time. Kala Preet was formed in 1969 at a time when there were no other Indian bands around. At the beginning there were only a couple of band members that really knew how to play an instrument, although not to a professional level. Everyone simply decided what they were going to play and started to teach themselves - incredibly, they reached a professional level and started to play to live audiences. Many of the original band members (mostly from Southall, London) trained by Kala Preet went on to form their own bands such as Heera, Holle Holle, Shava Shava and Alaap, to name a few. The existence of the band continued throughout the 70's and '80's, gradually developing into a Punjabi/Bhangra band. In 1986, Kala Preet went on to release their first album, 'Shava Shava'. The album was produced by leading Asian producer, Deepak Khazanchi. One of Kala Preet's most popular dance floor tracks was 'Gidhey Vich Nachdi Dey'.

Search Add 2 Manuel Hermia Trio With this new trio, Manuel Hermia takes us into a jazzy world rooted in the tradition and at the same time open to all influences, music both modern and risk-loving, but still accessible. It contains some compositions based on the principle of “Rajazz”, with research in harmony and a mixture of colours that gives it a unique character, some compositions are flirting with the edges of jazz, with a range of emotions going from the most sweet and deepest and from the most crazy to the most raging.A modern trio that loves groove as well as melodies, and that strives to honour jazz, the music that is called libertarian.

Search Add 2 Friction Switch Gary Gilbert - Vocals Ian O’Mara - Strings/Vocals (https://www.facebook.com/ian.omara.7) Israel ‘SiG’ Silguero - Drums (https://www.facebook.com/israel.silguero.1) Shawn ThreadGill - Bass Wayne ‘Kitty’ McCoy - Strings Friction Switch is not a force to be reckoned with. It is not the new wave of music that will dominate the scene and it may not change listeners worldwide. Friction Switch is a band of five individuals making music they love for those that want to hear it. For those that want to feel thick grooves, smooth melodies matched together with loud intense aggression.. For those who want to take the music in and be a part of the emotional experience reflected in every song. That is Friction Switch. Each member of this band puts their heart and soul into the music despite the struggles of life, personal loss, and emotional highs and lows. Each one of them have musical influences that range so far apart, that when they come together it makes a sound extremely unique and enriched, that it makes no comparison to any other sound. With influences ranging from Deftones, Fear Factory, Tool, Pink Floyd, 311, Nirvana, Metallica, NOFX, Pantera, Radio Head and Lagwagon, you can see and hear how these musicians bring many different styles of music to the plate. This band starts with the foundation of rhythm matched by SiG and Shawn who make the drum and bass combination that is definitely the heart of this band. Slamming and accurate techniques are only the scratched surface of what SiG lays down with his talents. 7 string guitarists, Wayne and Ian, are constantly switching rhythm and lead duties throughout the songs, which supply the trademark guitar sound of the band. From heavy driving riffs to intricate chord progressions, this pair provide the heavy edge and melodic backdrop that makes the band breathe. Shawn’s punk influenced bass style brings a distinctive twist to the heavy sound of the band. To complete the circle, Gary’s lead vocals bleed out the pain and anger of real life experiences, with lyrics depicting his inner struggles, and observations of our dying society. Gary and Ian’s duel vocals often times build up to an explosion of violently harsh growls and blood curdling screams. When it is all put together a truly unique sound is born that can simply be described as Friction Switch.

Search Add 2 Trev Turley Trev Turley has been playing bass ever since 1968, seriously from 1970. Born in West Bromwich his career has spanned 5 decades, not only throughout the Midlands, but London too. Bands like, Ginger, Labyrinthus, Ferret, Still, Nick & the Dogs formed his early years, moving onto 3am, BBBB (Bare Bones Boogie Band), Malaya Blue Band, Joe Anderton Band and his current band the MoJo Preachers. At some point he often brings out his own band TT&F (Trev Turley & Friends) a bunch of seasoned session musicians that ranges from a six to a nine-piece band. 'Cherish Ever' a Legacy Album, released in 2021, is the jewel in his crown drawing on all five decades of music making. He has finally released (27/08/2022) his long awaited book 'Sky Trails & Pie Tales - An autobiographical memoir by Trev Turley'. "A bass-player's tale. An honest reminiscence of the music business from the 60's to the present day." (Published by 'The Cherished Synapse'.)

Search Add 2 Crossfire Duo Crossfire Duo consisted of percussionists Bob Fullex and Jason Bauers, and was active from 2010 through 2013. The two drummers met as teenagers in the wintry barracks of Buffalo, NY, taking lessons from the same local teacher, and continued their collaboration in grad school at SUNY Buffalo. The group took their name from one of the first pieces they tackled, Richard Festinger’s Gordian, stamina-testing, Crossfire, which they spent a year perfecting. Always a collaborative project, Crossfire built their distinctive repertoire from the ground up, commissioning new works from Rust Belt-based composers with whom they worked very closely, allowing these artists to help shape the duo into what it became (their only stipulation being that each piece’s percussion battery be able to wedge into a small sedan for touring). Through intense basement sessions marked by trial, error, and experimentation, Crossfire and their collaborators cultivated an eccentric arsenal of pieces marked by a variety of newly-developed and highly-nuanced techniques, including some works–like Jacob Gotlib’s Portrait Sequence (Blanching Out) and Megan Grace Buegger’s Daring Doris–that didn’t even involve striking a single object. The duo performed these works around the Midwest and at prestigious festivals alongside ensembles such as the Slee Sinfonietta. Bob and Jason’s work eventually took them to different parts of the state, forcing Crossfire to hang up their sticks, but not before the duo executed an impressive recording of some of the key pieces of their rep. Recently unearthed, their album Vellum was released by Infrasonic Press in Summer 2023.

Search Add 2 Blunted Force Björn Knittel Uprising music producer, DJ & Live act from Dresden, Germany Other project "Ninjadrop" with "Mainfocus" (Trance & Progressive) Bio: Born 1980 in the beautiful City of Dresden / Germany, Bjoern aka. Blunted Force discovered his passion for good quality music early in his life after the german wall came down. The love for electronic music started in 1996, as he went with some friends to one of the early big technoraves in his hometown. There in between a few thousand wild dancing people, he had a mindblowing experience and the vision to start from this moment on his own electronic dancemusicproductions. Over the years, his own knowledge in sound-engineering, editing, and arranging the music, has grown steadily. With help of new techology and different hardware, he developed his own unique signature of modern Trancesound, that can take listeners into another world. Also he worked in close partnerships with well known musicians & vocalists to produce a number of amazing tracks in successful international cooperations around the globe* . Together with his brother in mind, Atomic Fu, he started playing live on stage in 2003. Since that time, he played as Liveact and Solo-DJ in different important Clubs & Locations in and around his own city and was official closing-act of the first peace-people-musicparade in Dresden. After all, he has produced eight own artist LPs, released numerous different EPs - as well as various remixes for lots of other musicians and friends. His songs were often played in different international radioshows & featured as track of the month. Openminded to new experiences & always pushing forward to new musical horizons, he also drops some really mindblowing FullOn&Psytrance as DJ IRAGON + in the fresh new Liveactproject with Atomic Fu as " NINJADROP " New releases coming soon! The band features a crisp horn section and a tight rhythm section along with amazing 4 part vocal harmonies, performing original music written by Ken DeRouchie as well as a few handpicked twists on classic tunes. Influences for the band include everything from Aretha Franklin, Lenny Kravitz, Koko Taylor, Steely Dan, Jill Scott and Galactic. KDB has had the pleasure of opening for such national acts as Cheap Trick, Blood Sweat and Tears, Curtis Salgado, Robben Ford, The Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, Mary Wilson and the Supremes, and Leftover Salmon. Top players from the Northwest join DeRouchie, including Northwest Soul phenom, Arietta Ward (DooDoo Funk All-stars), long-time KDB bassist Rob Busey (Robbie Laws), virtuoso guitarist Jeff Knudson (Lisa Mann and Her Really Good Band), keyboardist Brian Harris (Curtis Salgado), drummer Paul Ansotegui, Pete Peterson on tenor sax and Caleb Denison on trumpet. Portland Radio legend Steve Pringle writes “Ken and his band bring it each and every night. Horns that moan and wail, guitars that grind and soothe and a rhythm section tighter than a frogs ass. The KDB has a story to tell, pull up a chair.” Marty Gunther - Blues Blast Magazine writes “Muse is totally soulful from beginning to end. DeRouchie is a masterful songwriter, and the varying musical textures used keep you interested throughout. Available through all of the major websites, this isn’t your granddad’s blues. It’s totally modern in every way and definitely worth a taste.” Andre Hagestadt, The Oregonian and Statesman Journal writes “….the Ken DeRouchie Band has developed a reputation for being one of the best live bands in the Northwest” The Ken DeRouchie Band puts on a HIGH-OCTANE, Soul, R&B and Blues fueled live show. Bring your dancing shoes and get ready for a world class live music experience. This will be the party of the year!
