Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Piggy In The Middle Band members were: Björn Yttling, keyboardist Gustaf Hielm, guitar Jerker Eklund bassist Peter Morén sings and plays guitar Erik Hammarström, drummer They met when they all studied music in Västerås. For a while, the members were scattered in Piteå, Bollnäs, Västerås, Svalöv and Skurup, Later the band was based in Stockholm, except Erik Hammarström who lives in Malmö. Apart from the original bassist Johan Bengtsson from Piteå, who was replaced, the lineup has been stable since they formed in January 1993. A couple of months after forming they won a music competition where the prize was one day in the studio at Radio Västmanland. The result was the demo "… The Cat & The Fiddle", which in turn resulted in a gig at the Hultsfred Festival 1993. Unfortunately, someone stole their cords, pedals and other effects in their tent, so the concert on the Stora Dansbanan did not turn out as expected. In the spring of 1994, they recorded and mixed ten songs in three days. They were released as two demo cassettes, "Nicely Received In Germany" and "Kana Kapila", both reviewed in Sound Affects. In the summer of 1995, Piggy In The Middle released a four-song CD-EP, "Soap Operas", which was reviewed in Sound Affects # 28. And in the autumn of 1995 they signed a record contract with Solna-based Rainbow Music (MD) and released the debut album "Images And Distorted Facts", inspired by Bob Dylan's "Idiot Wind". All songs except one are taken from the EP and the two latest demo cassettes, and are very loyal to the originals.

Search Add 2 Serge Clamens Born in Moissac in 1952, he discovered from an early age an attraction for music. The polyphonic possibilities of the accordion will fix his choice on this instrument. He began his musical studies in 1962, music theory and instrument, with a private teacher, then very quickly began more serious studies at the Toulouse Conservatory, for music, and with René Feuillet, for the practice of the instrument. He progressed rapidly and went to Paris where he worked with José Rossi and Christian Di Maccio, teacher of the advanced class at the Schola cantorum. He notices, then, that in France, very few composers write for this instrument. The existing repertoire, being more than obsolete, it goes towards the musicians of the East, who work permanently for the evolution of the accordion. He participates in several high-level international competitions and obtains excellent results. 1969 – Evian International Competition – 1 prize (Honour) 1970 to 1974 – Four times finalist of the O.R.T.F. 1972 – Annemasse European Grand Prix – 3 prizes (concertists) 1975 – Irun International Competition – 3 prizes (concertists) 1977 – Selected to represent France at the Klingenthal world competition Now a teacher, he devotes himself to teaching the accordion with avant-garde methods, and a technique he borrowed from the Russian School, the results proving that it is currently the best. He created the TRIO D’ART CONTEMPORAIN DE TOULOUSE, to affirm the accordion in its use with noble instruments, and to interpret a musical literature that has no common measure with the classic accordion repertoire.

Search Add 2 Street Organ Use only for Dutch street organs (draaiorgels) that are not identified by name, but as "Street Organ." Use [a=Draaiorgel] instead where it appears like that on the release. A Dutch street organ (draaiorgel) is much larger than the conventional [a=Street Barrel Organ]. Equipped with multiple ranks of pipes and percussion, they play book music (thick perforated cardboard pages folded in book form) instead of perforated paper rolls and are often mounted on a trailer so that they can be pulled by a light truck, or they have their own engine on the front of the chassis. Originally, Dutch street organs were operated by turning a large handle that operated both the bellows/reservoir and the card-feed mechanism. Nowadays, most Dutch street organs have been converted to belt drive from a small battery powered motor or donkey engine. Many Dutch street organs have been recorded under their specific name, e.g., [a=Draaiorgel De Arabier], [a=Draaiorgel De Barometer], [a=Draaiorgel "De Cementmolen"], [a=Draaiorgel De Drie Pruiken], [a=Draaiorgel "Dubbeldik"], [a=Draaiorgel "De Kempenaer"], [a=Draaiorgel De Klok], [a=Draaiorgel "De Lekkerkerker"], [a=Draaiorgel "De Mandarijn"], [a=Draaiorgel De Pelikaan], [a=Draaiorgel "De Sater"], [a=Draaiorgel "De Sik"], [a=Draaiorgel De Turk], [a=Het Draaiorgel "De Veronica"], [a=Draaiorgel de Vijfbeelden], [a=Draaiorgel "De Waterpoorter"], [a=Draaiorgel "De Zeventiger"], [a=Gavioli Draaiorgel Jupiter].

Search Add 2 Fishy Friends Named after a toy set for babies, five guys from the Winschoten area in The Netherlands are writing their own songs in the style of Nirvana, The Posies, Teenage Fanclub and Smashing Pumpkins starting from 1993. After playing a few gigs the boys recorded the first album entitled “Starring Netty” which sees the light of day in May 1994, More shows are there and they make it till the popcontest of Groningen called “Pop=Prima Prijs” in 1995. Unfortunately they end up not winning the prize. In 1996 recordings began for the second one called “Hurray!”. The music has become more solid and is more furious but still melodic with nice vocal harmonies. A few shows are played but due to lack of success the members started to focus on other bands and projects. In 1998 it all ended. The songs stick to your head immediately and are still not outdated.
