Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 2 | Van Dyck Inc. | More than thirty years ago they met for the first time. Two guitarists from Hamburg showed up as guests at a session in a blues bar in Bremen and met a Dutch singer who was looking for new contacts in Germany. Nobody could have foreseen at that time that this meeting would result in famous bands like [a5795405] (The Backstreet Blues Band) and [a=J. J. And The Shuffle Kings], who rocked the stages at home and abroad for many years. Thirty years, countless gigs and many CDs later, musicians from the original line-ups of these bands have reunited to bring their own style of music to the stage with all their experience. Off the beaten blues path, VAN DYCK INC. delivers a stylistically confident and natural mix of shuffle, swing, second line rhythms and ballads for which the word Americana was invented.

Search | Add | 2 | Sergei Tarnowsky | Сергей Владимирович Тарновский (Sergey Vladimirovich Tarnovsky) | Sergei Tarnowsky (3 November 1883, Kharkiv, Russian Empire — 22 March 1976, Los Angeles, California) was a Russian and American pianist, distinguished music pedagogue, and first husband of [a=Alexander Glazunov]'s adopted daughter, pianist [a=Elena Glasunow] (1905—1999). He is renowned as the first principal teacher of young [a=Vladimir Horowitz] (before the 16-year-old genius went to his core mentor, F. M. Blumenfeld). Tarnowsky relocated to the USA in 1930 and taught at [l=DePaul University School Of Music] in Chicago (1933 to 1950) and later privately in California. Born in Kharkiv Governorate in the Russian Empire (modern Ukraine), Sergey began taking private lessons at eight with Polish pianist Henryk Bobiński (1861—1914), the Warsaw Conservatory graduate. In 1902, Sergei Tarnkovskiy enrolled in the [l=St. Petersburg Conservatory], studying under Anna Yesipova; he graduated with honors, earning a gold medal and the prestigious Anton Rubinstein Prize. Tarnowsky soon began teaching in Odesa, where he performed as a soloist under the conductor [a=Vasily Ilyich Safonov]. Impressed by his talents, Safonov arranged a European concert tour for Tarnowsky with [a=Berliner Philharmoniker], performing Tchaikovsky's and Rachmaninoff's concertos and Arensky's Fantasy. In Rome, Sergei played Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 1, earning the compliments of Cosima Wagner (1837—1930), [a=Franz Liszt]'s daughter and second wife of [a=Richard Wagner], who was in the audience. Besides piano, Tarnovsky became interested in conducting and worked alongside [a=Albert Coates] at [l=Mariinsky Theatre]. The First World War interrupted his concert career, and between 1914 and 1919, Sergei Tarnowsky served as a professor at Kiyv Conservatory. He taught 11-year-old [a=Vladimir Horowitz], [a=Alexander Uninsky], [a=Vladimir Yampolsky], and [a=Anatole Kitain]. In February 1928, Tarnowsky married [a=Elena Glasunow] (1905—1999), the adopted daughter of [a=Alexander Glazunov], the director of [l=St. Petersburg Conservatory]; both families soon relocated to Paris, where Sergei managed his father-in-law's business affairs and negotiated a US concert tour for Glazunov with [a=Sol Hurok]. In 1930, Sergei Tarnowsky and Elena Glasunova emigrated to the United States. He joined the [l=DePaul University School Of Music] faculty in Chicago in 1933, where he worked for the next 17 years, subsequently promoted to Head of Piano Department. Tarnowsky naturalized as a US citizen in 1938 (with his DePaul colleague, violinist [a=Richard Czerwonky], signing the paperwork as a witness). Sergei Tarnowsky continued regularly performing, appearing on stage with [a=Nathan Milstein], [a=William Primrose], and [a=Raya Garbousova], among others. Bevis taught himself to play the drums and sing while attending the ‘barely-integrated’ Wichita Falls High School. He would successfully graduate in 1970 due to attending summer school classes as an “academically accelerated” student. This was also where he initially met and befriended his first pivotal collaborator and seminal band-mate, Jimmy Lee Saurage. Upon graduation, Bevis immediately began his professional career in earnest by relentlessly touring the upper Midwest as an itinerant show-drummer until eventually rejoining Saurage and bassist Barry Minnick in Austin, Texas to form the hard rocking’ power-trio “Franklin’s Mast” in the winter of 1971. This would also earmark Griffin’s eventual rise to cultural prominence as Texas’ first African American Hard-Rock/Glam-Rock/Punk-Rock performer. |

Search | Add | 2 | Giant Not Giant | Band Members HENRY FRENCH: bass MATT PRICE: drums Indianapolis, IN. Record Label INDEPENDENT Biography GIANT NOT GIANT started as a challenge. For Henry, lead writer and bassist, the challenge was to play and write without guitar (his primary instrument for more than 20 years), and skewing to bass, which meant simplifying the songwriting, and focusing on single-note riffs, as well as a host of effect pedals. For Matt, the challenge was taking on a larger voice in the orchestration, and applying his skills towards new areas of musical collaboration. Within 2 months, the duo had a short set worth of original tunes ready to go; songs that are steeped in the kind of power rock we are used to seeing from Queens Of The Stone Age, Muse, Death from Above, Royal Blood and others. The duo continue to write and expect to be a part of the impending resurgence of riff-driven rock and roll which is surely on the horizon. Search | Add | 2 | Maude Bascome Cummings Taylor | Bermudian-born Maude Bascome Cummings Taylor emigrated as a young woman to the United States, where she established herself as a pianist, organist, music teacher and choir director. A woman with boundless energy, she ran a music school on weekdays, teaching voice and piano, and directed church choirs on Sundays. At Cornerstone Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York, where she was a choir director for 45 years, she is remembered as a “composer, musician par excellence”. Talent Taylor, the eldest of nine children, was born in Pembroke East to Rhoda and Ainsworth Bascome, and raised as a member of St Paul AME Church. Her mother was a musician. Taylor’s musical talent emerged early in her childhood and she nurtured it all her life. She took her first piano lesson at age 3 and composed her first song when she was 12. Taylor attended the Berkeley Institute, a member of the Class of 1914. The record is silent on her growing-up years and early adulthood in Bermuda, but she is said to have played piano for silent movies. Her talent caught the attention of a US film company, which offered her a job touring the States. But she had to turn down the offer because her deeply religious father did not approve of movies. Motherhood In June 1923, at age 26, she sailed to New York aboard the Fort Victoria with the goal of furthering her studies at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, but marriage and motherhood intervened. She married Richard Cummings in 1925. The couple set up home in Brooklyn, New York, and had two children, Gloria and Richard. In the 1930s, Taylor opened a music school, where Richard Cummings also taught. Their children were among their students. Taylor’s school was later known as MBC Music Studio. She presented annual recitals and also established a scholarship fund for promising music students. Her sister, Thyra, a well-known pianist and music teacher in Bermuda, taught at the school during the 1950s. Taylor became a choir director shortly after her move to New York. She served for a year at Friendship Baptist Church, followed by 14 years at Newman Memorial Church. Her longest period of service was at Cornerstone Baptist Church, where she was choir director — the position later became known as minister of music — for 45 years until her death at age 87. At Cornerstone, she led a 50-voice choir, and taught voice and piano to many of its members, at her studio. Prestigious Taylor was a lifelong student of music, taking courses at such prestigious institutions as Columbia University in New York, Matlock College in England, Mozart University in Salzburg, Austria, and Fontainebleau Schools in France, where students were accepted by audition. Taylor was twice married. She divorced her first husband and married William Taylor in 1944. According to Taylor’s obituary, the two “shared teaching duties and church fellowship happily until his demise in 1972”. Although Brooklyn would become Taylor’s permanent home, Bermudians were kept abreast of her achievements, usually through reports carried in the Bermuda Recorder. In August 1934, four of her original songs were performed at a Festival of Negro Music held at the Opera House in commemoration of the abolition of slavery. Taylor wrote many songs during her lifetime and was a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. In July 1935, the Recorder reported from New York on a recital at her school. In September 1956, the Recorder published an article about Taylor’s sister, Thyra, who had recently returned to Bermuda after four years’ residence in New York. Taylor’s MBC Studio was a thriving enterprise with six pianos, according to the article. Classes were held from morning to night. Taylor’s husband, William Taylor, taught piano and her daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Frederick Dennard, taught voice at the studio. Thyra Bascome also taught there. In 1972, the Recorder reported how Taylor was honoured by Cornerstone Church at a service on October 29 that saw four church choirs taking part and many of her original compositions on the programme. According to the article, Taylor had taught hundreds of students at her school, several of whom had risen to the top ranks in music. Professional Taylor died in 1984 and was buried at The Evergreens in New York after a “service of triumph” at Cornerstone. She was survived by her daughter and son, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She passed on her musical gifts to her children and several grandchildren. Her daughter, Gloria DeNard, a graduate of the Juilliard School and a singer, was founder and director of Manna House Workshops, a music school in East Harlem, New York. She died in 2020.Taylor’s grandsons, Richard Cummings and Kenwood Dennard, are professional musicians. Kenwood Dennard is also an associate professor at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. In 2006, Taylor was honoured posthumously with a Bermuda Arts Council Founders Award. Gloria DeNard accepted the award on her mother’s behalf and sang one of Taylor’s songs at the ceremony.

Search | Add | 2 | Kelvin Blacklock | Kelvin Colney | Kelvin Blacklock, a schoolfriend of Mick Jones, had been a vocalist in the guitarist’s pre-Clash bands The Delinquents, Little Queenie and London SS, and went on to join The Damned drummer Rat Scabies’ short-lived White Cats. He recorded two singles, a version of The Herd’s I Don’t Want Our Loving To Die, & California Sun under the pseudonym K. K. Black before disappearing from the limelight. He would resurface in 1983 in Mirrors, a short-lived rock combo featuring Matt Dangerfield (ex-The Boys) on guitar: they would release a lone single (Dance Dance Dance) and an album which sold poorly. |

Search | Add | 2 | Danny Vann | Dan is an example of how an orphan and foster child can pull himself up by the bootstraps and become a successful and functional member of society. He was a ward of the court and resident of St. Vincent's Home in Saginaw in the late 1960s. He was placed in foster care and finally returned to his father who re-married. At the age of 17, Dan left home and has been on his own since. He graduated high school with honors and had gone on to become the manager of Technology Planning with Comerica Bank. While working in corporate America, he also became quite well known throughout Michigan as one of the best Elvis Impersonators in the state. He has performed in Vegas and was inducted into the International Elvis Impersonators Hall of Fame in 1994. Dan was born-again in 2004 and has given up the rock-n-roll portion of the Elvis personna in order to use his talents for God. He currently writes spiritual crossover music and occasionally performs Elvis Gospel concerts for area churches.

Search | Add | 2 | Random Axe Of Terror | Raw and abrasive American hardcore punk band originally from Lansing, Michigan. They relocated to Detroit, Michigan sometime in the early 2000's and along with [a=Feast Or Famine] played a more dark, extreme and noisey brand of punk that stood as the antithesis of the garage rock trend that was consuming the Detroit punk scene at the time.
