Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024
Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 2 | Maxine Vegas | Sergio Borromei | Sergio Borromei a.k.a. Maxine Vegas, originally from Bahia Blanca, is one of the up and coming dance music producers in the very much new techno-house scene in Buenos Aires (Argentina). And this is how it all began: When he was a mere seven years old, while listening to his fathers Beatles albums, comes to the realization that music was to become a very important part of his life. After many years of studying classic guitar at the music conservatory of his natal city, decides to venture and buy his very first electric guitar, this led to him to start playing and singing in several rocks bands, with a ranging a variety of styles. He later moved to Buenos Aires, to further his involvement in the music world, dedicating much of his time to study music production particularly that of rock, while keeping his day job as an IT consultant since he is a keen computers man. He then decides to merge this latter passion with his first love: technology and the art of blending sounds. This is the time when he becomes acquainted with Waltie whom soon becomes a great friend to him, and together take on the task of putting together project “Hawaii” alongside Lega a.k.a. Plastique Vision. After a couple of releases under this name (like “Pure” for Hernán Cattaneo’s – “Reannaisance”, or “Closed Spaces I & II” for Red Flag Collective label), he started to experiment the art of live-playing, blending minimal-sounds and tecno-loops of his own creations with taylor-made edits of tracks from other artists; all in real time. Maxine Vegas, name inspired by the movie “Being John Malkovich”, a story of alter-egos, very much resembles the double life led by Maxeen and Sergio. |

Search | Add | 2 | Baba Taher | باباطاهر | Persian poet from the 11th Century. Baba Tahir (Persian: باباطاهر عریان) or Baba Taher Oryan Hamadani (Persian: باباطاهر عریان همدانی) was an 11th-century Persian dervish poet from Hamadan, Iran who lived during the reign of Tugril of the Seljuk dynasty over Iran. This is almost all that is known of him as he lived a mysterious lifestyle. Although prefix "Baba" (roughly meaning 'The Wise' or 'The Respected') has been thought as part of his name in all known sources, his nickname "Oryan"( meaning 'The Naked' ) did not appear until about 17th-century.The nickname was probably attributed to him because he seemed to lead a very spiritual and stoic lifestyle and thus was figuratively not clothed with worldly and material needs. His poetry is written in the Hamadani dialect of the Persian language. According to L. P. Elwell-Sutton he probably wrote in the Hamadani dialect, adding: "Most traditional sources call it loosely Luri, while the name commonly applied from an early date to verses of this kind, Fahlaviyat, presumably implies that they were thought to be in a language related to the Middle Persian language. Rouben Abrahamian however found a close affinity with the dialect spoken at the present time by the Jews of Hamadan." According to The Cambridge History of Iran, Baba Tahir spoke a certain Persian dialect. |

Search | Add | 2 | Sam Sitarasa | Samuel J. Dass | Samuel J. Dass, or Sam as he is fondly known in the music circle, was born on the 16th of March, and started his love affair with the Sitar at the tender age of 7. His first guru was his father, Mr. Jabamalai Dass, who drilled in him the basics of sitar playing. He then joined The Temple of fine Arts Malaysia, where he learnt the finer nuances of this traditional art-form from Mr. Maheswaran Orme. At the same time he also sought the guidance of Giani Bachitar Singh, who inculcated in him the characteristics of the various Hindustani Raagas. He also underwent training from Mr. Raj Kumar Sharma and Professor Haridev of Chandighar University under whom he was able to obtain the ‘Sageeth Bushan’ which is equivalent to a senior diploma in music. In the year 2002, Sam had the good fortune to study the finer intricacies of the sitar under the world renowned sitar maestro Ustad Shahid Parvez in Pune ,India. He was under Shahidji’s guidance for 7 months and his talent was acknowledged by the senior musician himself. Sam has been proclaimed as one of our times most exciting sitar players and has left audiences around the world mesmerized by his style of ‘gayaki ang’, meaning literally “to ‘play as though sung”. He has done much for Hindustani music in Malaysia, infusing both classical and contemporary genres in sitar recitals and coming out with inventive & creative albums. Sam has an uncanny ability to bring alive the subtle nuances and melodic beauty hidden in the soaring notes of the ragas in elegant and even cheeky interpretations. Imbibed with catholicity and flair, his style, although traditional in nature, has an artistic intelligence geared to the refinements and sophistication needed in the modern world. Defining Sam as a sitarist would be of great disservice to an individual who has added immensely to the expansion of Indian music in Malaysia. He has been performing since he was a teenager and has strove to introduce music genres that were quite alien to the masses. Over a decade ago, he initiated ghazal (light classical music native to northern India) and taught himself to play the santoor (hammered dulcimer) into concert halls here. During this journey, he became the first Malaysian musician to turn away from classical Indian group music recitals and opted for instrumental solo concerts in Malaysia. As a composer, Sam has released 7 albums to date. They are Sitarasa, Sitarasa Nostalgia, Vrajalila, Biography of Swami Sivananda, Vidiyal, Raga Moods and Prana The two honours that he was awarded at the Cameronian Arts Awards 2004 – for the best original composition and best solo performance categories under his band Prana – is a belated recognition much deserved. Sam has had the good fortune of playing with some of the top musicians in Malaysia and abroad. He recently represented Malaysia for the World Championship of Performing Arts in Hollywood, Los Angeles, USA. He won 7 gold medals and one silver medal for the eight categories he took part in. He also won 7 Champion of the World plaques and was the only one from the Malaysian team to be chosen to compete in the Grand Championships which was held at the world famous Palladium Auditorium. Besides the US, Sam has also performed in Australia, Singapore, Brunei, New Zealand, Taiwan, Korea and India. Sam’s dedication to this ancient art form is total and the art world is richer by his experience, expertise and most importantly, devotion. |

Egan says the alias was intended for a royalty-sharing agreement with the group [a=Wunderwerke], but which ended up not being implemented to the satisfaction of all parties. According to Egan, the backing track was written, programmed and performed solely by Egan at [l=Wunderwerke Studio], Wachtersbach, with the recording engineered by Dieter Kolb of the group [a=Wunderwerke] (with a "w"), a.k.a. [a=Roboterwerke] or [a=Supersempfft]. It was then sent to [l=Celluloid] for a mix and the addition of raps by [a=Afrika Bambaataa] and others at [l=RPM Studios], NYC. The "Vas is das, das Wunderwerke, da?" lyric in the instrumental is Egan's voice and was the song's original title. |

Search | Add | 2 | Clayber De Souza | Humberto Clayber de Souz | Humberto Clayber de Souza is a Brazilian composer and musician. He was considered one of the best Bossa Nova bass players in 1960s and actually is acclaimed as one of the best harmonica players of the world. He played with many famous artists along his career, such as Cesar Camargo Mariano, Airto Moreira, Hermeto Pascoal and Manfredo Fest. Humberto Clayber, or Clayber de Souza, started his musical career when he was 8 years old. At that period, he played for Radio Cultura band and, as a member of this group, he made his first shows. In 1956, he played for Hering Harmonicas. With Zezinho Lima and Raymundo Paiva, he played in São Paulo and other near cities, as endorser. He is responsible for popularizing the harmonica around Brazil, specially São Paulo. In the 1960s, he joined some samba-jazz groups. First, in 1963, he played with Manfredo Fest trio, as bassist, and recorded the debut album by the blind pianist: Bossa nova, nova bossa. One year later, he joined Sambalanço Trio, with Cesar Camargo Mariano and Airto Moreira. With this group, he recorded five albums. However, in 1965, Sambalanço Trio disbanded. So, with Moreira and Hermeto Pascoal, he formed Sambrasa Trio. These groups were considered some of the most important of that period; therefore, as member of them, Clayber was considered one of the best bassists of that years. He also played in Sambossa 5, in the end of the 1960s, and in Jongo Trio (with Paulo Roberto and Toninho), in the beginning of the 1970s. In the 1970s, Clayber stopped playing bass and decided to play only harmonica. Then, years later, he was considered one of the best harmonicists of the world, receiving a diploma by Fábrica de Gaitas Hohner, in 1979. In fact, Clayber can play about 40 different kinds of harmonica and can play six simultaneously. Actually, Clayber teaches how to play harmonicas, according to his own method. He still composes many songs in several rhythms: bossa nova, jazz, blues, tango, valsa. |

Over the years he has been able to pick up virtually any musical instrument and be able to play it within a few weeks. As of right now he plays piano/synthesizer, drums, ukulele, guitar and trumpet; and composes, mixes and masters all his own arrangements using FL studio, and Akai MPC. Search | Add | 2 | Urban Carmichael | Urban Carmichael (January 11, 1952 - February 13, 2006) was a storyteller, comic, songwriter and entertainer from Prince Edward Island, Canada. Known and loved across Canada and the US for his rural based humour and his dedication to the continuance of the oratorical traditions of Prince Edward Island and his Irish heritage. Carmichael was also a gifted writer, creating copy for radio and television. He is widely believed to have been the greatest storyteller in Island history. His trademark phrases are so numerous and familiar to Islanders that they are commonly referred to as "Urbanisms". Carmichael was the son of John and Mary (Murphy) Carmichael and one of 10 children. He began performing as a child and continued to do so for more than 35 years. He gave countless Maritime performers their first opportunities for live performance, was a beloved mentor to many, and he shared the stage with most of the greatest performers in Atlantic Canada and beyond. For five years he performed with fiddler Connor O'Callaghan in the Celtic Review that bore his name at Orwell Corner Historic Village on PEI. Carmichael's final performance was on the stage of the Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown, for the CBC Radio production Madly Off in All Directions with host Lorne Elliott, just weeks before his death. Carmichael died at the age of 54 after a five-year battle with esophageal cancer. He was surrounded by those who loved him and he is buried at his childhood parish in Vernon River, Prince Edward Island.

Search | Add | 2 | Takun | The story behind Takun begun in Madrid, in the year 2010, under the name Takun sin Takun, as a tribute quartet conformed by Nando, Davizio, Rubén Rivas and Rafael Mañanas, covering and updating old stuff from the band Takun Q Takun, a project started back in the 80´s by Nando´s brother, Guti. This was the startup to get a general idea of the spirit of Takun Q Takun, and mixing this concept with all the members´s influences, the Takun sin Takun personality started to ginge up. Deeply influenced as musicians by international bands as The Police, Metallica, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Yes or Van Halen, and national ones as Héroes del Silencio, Barón Rojo, O´Funk´illo, Nacha Pop or Radio Futura, Takun sin Takun starts to plan composing new original material in 2011, meanwhile the band itself suffers some lineup changes until it´s settled as a power trio (with Dennis Channels as the current bass player, since 2013). These decisions and changes establish the definitive studio and live identity-personality of the group, and finally led the band to change its name to Takun. Takun proposes overwhelming and interactive live shows, dynamism and energy full. The band members have previous album and live experiences with two other important local bands, Presidio (Davizio) and Andén 54 (Nando), and there are countless mythical places Takun has taken part of live shows, with some special highlights in Trujillo´s Castle, Marco Aldany Hall, Fiestas de Aluche 2015 or Live! Hall, for example. Their debut album, Limbo, is the culmination of endless exciting and full of joy working sessions, and it´s the main reason for Takun to reach a bigger and more diverse audience so the project gets higher. Limbo has been auto-produced in 2016, with Ángel Muñoz helping the band with drums recording, and Jorge Escudero being the main sound engineer guide guy (a key man so the studio sound of the band took a definitive and solid identity). The artwork of Limbo is born from an own idea of the band, and the shape and details so the concept is adapted to digipack format are built and polished by Álvaro Avis and Alejandro Martínez. In addition, Takun had the special support of Pablo Sancha (Delyrïum) for the Desde Cero piano arrangements. For more info, visit us on:
