Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 29/07/2025

Found 602638 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 3 The University of Virginia Glee Club The Virginia Glee Club is a critically acclaimed men’s chorus based at the University of Virginia. It performs both traditional and contemporary vocal works, typically in TTBB arrangements. Founded in 1871, the Glee Club is the University’s oldest musical organization and one of the oldest all-male collegiate vocal ensembles in the United States. It is currently conducted by Frank Albinder. The Virginia Glee Club was founded in 1871 as the Cabell House Men. In the 1893–1894 session of the University, the Glee Club was combined with other extant student musical groups to form the Glee, Banjo, and Mandolin Club, a more permanent organization, with professor of mathematics (and University Chapel organist) Harrison Randolph as the director. During this period, the group toured major Southern cities annually, playing to standing room only crowds in Richmond and traveling as far afield as Atlanta, St. Louis. and Memphis, according to contemporary accounts, donating the profits to the Athletic Association of the University of Virginia. The group continued to perform and tour the South through the early 1900s; they are recorded as visiting Atlanta on tour under the direction of a student, John Shishmanian, in October 1905, and a contemporary letter attests to their existence in that fall 1905. After the fall of 1905, the group disbanded and reformed periodically; University historian Philip Alexander Bruce indicates it disbanded in 1905, then reformed in 1910–1911 and began to perform again. The group went on hiatus for a year in the fall of 1912, citing “disadvantageous circumstances” with the hope of reforming later. It apparently did reform in late 1913 or early 1914, based on a January 1914 photo of the group. Finally, in January 1915, it was reorganized under the leadership of Professor Alfred Lawrence (A.L.) Hall-Quest (professor of educational psychology); Hall-Quest is said to have modeled the group after the glee club of his alma mater, Princeton University. Since 1915, the Virginia Glee Club has been in continuous existence as a men’s chorus at the University. From the 1920s into the 1980s, the Glee Club enjoyed an association with the McIntire Department of Music through a series of directors who were members of the music faculty, including Arthur Fickenscher, Harry Rogers Pratt, Stephen Tuttle, Donald Macinnis, and Donald Loach. The group was viewed as an educational resource that enhanced other offerings; a course catalog from the 1920s offered students in the Composition class the opportunity to have their works performed by the Glee Club. During the 1940s, the Glee Club worked with composer in residence Randall Thompson when director Stephen Tuttle commissioned Thompson to write The Testament of Freedom, a setting of Thomas Jefferson’s words about liberty, for the Virginia Glee Club. In the later years of Tuttle’s tenure, the Glee Club recorded an album with RCA of traditional university songs, accompanied by the University of Virginia Band. In 1953, members of the Glee Club formed the Virginia Gentlemen, the oldest a cappella group at UVA, which originated as a performing subset of the Glee Club and became an independent organization in the 1980s. The 1960s and 1970s found the group developing a specialty in Renaissance music under the direction of University professor Donald Loach, who developed a countertenor section within the group to meet the demands of the polyphonic style. At this time the group performed on national and international stages, including a performance at the State Department for the Washington Diplomatic Corps Banquet in 1968, the only college glee club to be so honored at the time. In 1971, the Z Society gave the Glee Club its Organization Award in recognition of its concerts, the recording of its album A Shadow’s on the Sundial, and its pending first European tour. The group toured Europe in 1972, funding the trip with individual and community contributions, as well as profits from their 1972 recording, A Shadow’s on the Sundial. In 1989, the Virginia Glee Club became a Contracted Independent Organization, with substantial assistance from Gilbert J. Sullivan and the UVA Alumni Association, when the Music Department moved unilaterally to combine it with the Virginia Women’s Chorus into a mixed choir, which would have eliminated the Glee Club’s independent identity.

Search Add 3 Julielle Giulia is a self-taught musician, born in ’94. She has a dog named Elle and started playing at 10. Her music is the result of a path alternated between the electronic music of rave parties, her passion for Edith Piaf and the moving poetry she inherited from her Neapolitan origins. Passionate about 00s and 10s electronic music (Son Lux, Flume, Bonobo) she cultivates since childhood her unconditional love for pop music and the Beatles. All of this merges in her new music project, Julielle, in which she portraits in music the emotions written in poems. Her first single is “Toys”, produced by GODBLESSCOMPUTERs. The second single is called “aliens and flowers”, produced by inude. In autumn she’ll release her first EP.

Search Add 3 Mirra Alfassa Mirra Alfassa (21 February 1878 – 17 November 1973), known to her followers as The Mother, was a spiritual guru, an occultist and a collaborator of Sri Aurobindo, who considered her to be of equal yogic stature to him and called her by the name "The Mother". She founded the Sri Aurobindo Ashram and established Auroville as a universal town; she was an influence and inspiration to many writers and spiritual personalities on the subject of Integral Yoga. Mirra Alfassa was born in Paris on 1878 to a bourgeois family. In her youth, she travelled to Algeria to practise occultism under Max Théon. After returning, she travelled around the world and finally settled in Pondicherry, India with Sri Aurobindo and his followers. With growing numbers of followers, the settlement was turned into an ashram over the years, where she worked with Sri Aurobindo in establishing Integral Yoga and guiding its pupils. In 1943, she started a school in the ashram and in 1968 established Auroville, an experimental township free from discrimination of nationality, language, creed and politics. She died on 17 November 1973 in Pondicherry.

Search Add 3 The Original Bullshit Band TOBB is a Norwegian band consisting of first-call musicians working as freelancers in tv and the recording industry. TOBB was started as a playing ground for friends, all with the love for AOR-west coast music, and has since 1987 been touring on and off, mostly playing their own cover versiones of west coast and funk classics. In 2010 TOBB had the great fortune and honor of touring with the legend Bill Champlin, and he encouraged the band to record the ”lost song” Sweet Marie”, a track that didn`t make it on the legendary Chicago 17 album. Inspired by Bill, TOBB started recording their own original material witch had been neglected for years! The result is The album ”True To Our Sound” The Album consists og 10 songs with a strong emphasis on melody, with extensive vocal arrangements and horns all over every track! Guest vocalists is Bill And Tamara Champlin on Sweet Marie, a true honor for the band! The album also features a recording of The Tubes classic ballade ”Don`t want to wait anymore” with an intricate horn arrangement added! If you like Chicago, The Eagles, The Tubes etc. You will like TOBB!

His artistic career advanced vertiginously, so much so that he came to represent us in Spain, Mexico, the United States, Saudi Arabia and Japan. I manage to record 59 recordings, and their most popular songs were "Palomita mujer", "Amanecer Tuyero", "El Aguardiente" and "El Beso". In his songs he was accompanied by important personalities from the musical field such as: Pablo Hidalgo, Juan Onofre Machillanda, Juancito Martínez, Ricardo Latorre, Dionisio Bolívar, Gabriel Cirilo Ruiz and his great friend Valerio "El Joven" Calzadilla. In 2000 it was declared Cultural Heritage of Miranda State and on February 11, 2003, with 73 years it dies leaving us its music and its passion for the joropo tuyero.

Search Add 3 Dee Dee Sea Travis Sehorn Dee Dee Sea crept from the bedroom to the underground scene of Montana as a youth quickly gaining a devoted following. Soon Dee Dee was opening gigs for folks like Magnolia Electric Co., Bill Callahan, Califone, C.J. Boyd, LAKE, Karl Blau, Your Heart Breaks, Jason Webley, Typhoon, Thao & The Get Down Stay Down and many others. After many years of touring with the Missoula Oblongata, a punk theater group and years abroad as an artistic international party boy, Dee Dee sunk into the swamp of New Orleans. No one heard anything for awhile... Now Dee Dee Sea has been tracked down in the woods of Maine in a homemade timber framed studio completely off the grid. The new album, I Saw the Awful Light In the Shadows of Joy is the first offering from the outsider multi-instrumentalist. Recorded entirely with sun power, all alone, this album reeks of slowness, of sand in the sheets, of lusty hangovers, of release and of looking back through the bottom of the wine bottle drank on the beaches of the world. The desperate pleasures told within weave in and out of consciousness and somehow drift up river to the mountains peak and sink deep into the earth...

Search Add 3 Kryzalid Kryzalid are a young band from Northern France that released with Second Life a respectable debut album, even if the title makes you think that this should be already their album number two. Kryzalid call their music melodic thrash metal, and they are clearly influenced by late-Eighties power stuff like Megadeth and Annihilator, whose Alison Hell they cover to end the album. And that's where their main problem lies: they just don't have the song writing skills yet to make their songs memorable. The raw production, the harsh screamed vocals and the melodic guitar sound make for a nostalgic trip into heavy metal's glorious past, but the longer the album runs, the harder it gets to pay attention to details. Second Life is full of great riffs and sounds very authentic, what's lacking are just the ideas that keep you hooked. With a running time of one hour, you may wonder if this wouldn't have been a better album if it had been more compact? Second Life is by no means a bad album, even above average, it's just a pity that such a talented band doesn't have the routine yet to come over with better songs. If they keep working hard, I bet that there is more than just a small future lying ahead for Kryzalid. Old school thrashers may want to risk an ear.

Search Add 3 The Mothers Earth Experiment Born out of the summer of 2015, The Mothers Earth Experiment are a six-piece contemporary progressive outfit from Birmingham, UK. With a wide array of influences ranging from electronica, jazz, world music and psychedelia all the way to black metal and back. They are focussed on the external problems of government, our planet, technology and bureaucracy. Weaving a sonic tapestry of social consciousness and societal incompetence, tackling themes of 21st century injustice. The band of childhood friends pride themselves on their eclectic inspirations to weave detailed sonic tapestries of dense psychedelic atmospheres and emotive melodies in order to propel their message of social consciousness. “The band fuses together such a variety of genres that it is both old and fresh simultaneously.”
