Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 29/07/2025

Found 602638 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 13 Morph.Arts MORPH.Arts/ZOOM MORPH.Arts was founded in 1998 after leaving the Fanzine Refraktor. Refraktor made it possible to connect with artists and musicians that were interested in improving the creativity of their work. A virtue of necessity was made for Weissenfelser‘n Mission‘2, who badly needed a graphic conversion for their synthiesound. The first artworks und layouts emerged, and were then further developed. Dolor came to MORPH.Arts after seeing their work from the first job, and a collaboration was formed which prepared them for a partnership with ZOOM, with whom M.A worked until 2002. The designs got more professional, and ZOOM saw to it that deadlines were met. M.A/Z worked for :Wumpscut:, Infact and Nobdrun, which lead to a new contact with the industrial project called Ohrenschmerz from Halle/Leipzig. Many different productions for organizers and artists took place, be it for art, CDs, LPs, posters, or flyers. A meeting with the Tesco Organisation was made who needed a website. For awhile it was featured and run by M.A/Z. Again layouts for artists like Sturmovik, Operation Cleansweep were compiled, including the fantastic patch for Genocide Organ. Innumerable flyers and advertisements were made. In 2002 things quieted down for MORPH.Arts/ZOOM. Due to job-related obligations, there was not enough time for creativity. Zoom and MORPH.Arts was out of mind while time was being devoted to a „normal“ social life. The urge, however, was not lost, and so MORPH.Arts continued to work on. Since then nothing but pure artistic projects have been presented. Personally created graphics for artists, friends and acquaintances are being made. The urge for publicity is not a priority, although a request could/would receive a positive reaction. Sources of inspiration are, and were always the works of Stefan Alt [Ant-Zen]. His influence can be seen at the start of M.A/Z. Additionally inspired by the morbidity of H.R. Giger, who else? Non graphic influences also play a role, like the humor of Josef Hader‘s the Austrian formation Pungent Stench, films for example are U-Turn and Tim Burton‘s Ed Wood. As much as I like skeletons and strange humor, Glenn Danzig, the melancholy romantic from Death In June, and the power of Laibach should not be forgotten! The roots clearly run deep in the „black scene“ and Metal with their facets, but the look is not restricted to only this area. M.A/Z is and was always a mix of everything that moves us.

In 1955, Mat made the decision to play professionally, mostly in Michigan and surrounding states. During the summers, he frequently returned to his native Minnesota.

Search Add 13 The Chestnut Grove Quartet Bluegrass Gospel Acapella Group from of the Clinch Mountains in Southwest Virginia. From the Chestnut Grove Methodist Church in Abingdon, Virginia, this legendary (but little heard outside the region where they live) a cappella quartet has had a profound effect on gospel a cappella singing that far outstrips their local renown, influencing such local luminaries as Ralph Stanley, Doyle Lawson, and Ricky Skaggs, both in repertoire and performance style. These selections are drawn from albums made by the group during the 60s, 70s, and 80s to capitalize on the enormous popularity of their local radio broadcasts and personal appearances in the mountainous areas of Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, and West Virginia. Stylistically, the quartet springs from the shape note singing schools of their youth and the Stamps-Baxter shape note hymnals so omnipresent in white Protestant churches of rural areas; their four part harmonies and parts singing is as old as the churches where they learned to sing. The knowledge his tradition based on has its roots both in mystics of ancient and medieval times India, as well as in the concert music we know today and which arose from the royal courts. He was born in one music loving family and grew up in electric environment rich in arts and culture. He has studied with great teachers like Swami Shyam, where he was taught the esoteric music, with Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, who became his basic music teacher, and finally with Ravi Shankar, from whom he learned to master the sitar. He lives in Oneonta, New York, USA, but is still traveling with concerts and seminars over most of the world. His creative production includes several CDs, most recently with the work of Chetna, two morning ragas.

Search Add 13 Bob Bryden Canadian songwriter, guitarist, and singer Bob Bryden began his professional music career some time in the early '60s. Over the next four decades he lent his impressive skills to a long line of different bands, appearing on numerous singles and albums with them. Other groups he worked with included the Outcasts, Benzene Jag, the Brick, Age of Mirrors, and the Christopher Columbus Discovery of New Lands Band. When Bryden formed new groups, he usually brought at least a couple of familiar faces along with him. During the latter part of the '70s and even into the early '80s, he tried a turn at a solo career that produced a few more albums. Bob Bryden was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Working with the group Reign Ghost, he saw the release of his first album in 1968. He next recorded with a rock band called by the unlikely name of Christmas. In 1977, Bryden completed his debut solo offering, The Displaced Years. It was released by the Open Heart label and only on cassette. He spent a decade working with other bands before a sophomore solo album hit the market in 1987. Along the way, Bryden appeared on nearly two dozen albums, some reissued years after their original release date.

Search Add 13 American Standard Band Formed in Worcester, Massachusetts, The American Standard Band was a five man group that gained significant notice in the 1970s and early ’80s on both the local and national level. Kevin Falvey: Lead singer, songwriter, keyboardist, and co-founder. Cliff Goodwin: Lead guitarist and co-founder. Deric Dyer: Saxes, keyboards, and second lead vocalist. Howard Hersh: Bass player John Riley: Drums ASB toured extensively around New England for several years, focused on what could best be described as hip pop music. Strong on vocal harmonies, high-level musicianship and a fair share of showmanship, they carved out a successful place as a live act. They had an active following and continued to mature as a band over time. In the late mid-1970s, they connected with [l983753] and formed a relationship that led to new opportunities, including producing a number of demo recordings of their material, and obtaining an audition for ASB to become the backing band for [a124497]’s comeback effort starting in 1976. Joe liked what he heard and they were hired to become his band for the next year and a half, touring in Australia and South America, as well as playing gigs in the US. In the meantime, [l8377] had heard good things about the band and signed ASB to an independent production agreement through [l983753]. The band recorded two albums with Island, the first received very good reviews, but failed to be promoted well due to issues by Island’s marketing distribution rights through the Warner Bros. music conglomerate. With a massive recession at the start of the 1980s that damaged the music industry as a whole, the band’s second album has never been released and the option on the band’s contract was not picked up by Island. Falvey continued songwriting and producing music until his early passing in 1999. Goodwin continued to play for Cocker for most of the 1980’s and found success as a sideman for a number of notable music acts. Hersh and Dyer also continued with Cocker and each found similar success as side- and session men with a variety of known artists.

From there he went into club djing through contacts made at the radio stations where he had worked. By 1991 James had begun to press his own vinyl after being inspired by certain records heard whilst managing a record shop. At that time, the sound in the North of England was the Italo Piano sound. This was the sound James stuck with from the early 90s when he released "Whitney Tune" in 1992 through to the release of “Blurred" in 1996. “Blurred” got James his first UK top ten chart hit as Pianoman. Other aliases he has used are Bass Boyz, Piano City Productions, DJ Friendly and Technical steps. After the worldwide success of “Blurred” (which sold 380, 000 copies), problems at the record label James was signed to (London / FFRR) prompted him to start his own labels and publishing company to look after his own material. James currently owns two record labels, [l=Solo Vinyl] and [l=Salford Central Records], along with a publishing company, Blurred Music Publishing. Since 2004 James has concentrated on the genre of house music once again, particularly electro and funky styles. He also writes original songs for his own productions at the hd1 recording studio based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.

Search Add 13 Sean Hampsey Began a 'lifelong love affair' with Soul Music in the late 60's. The Southern Soul of Stax in Memphis and Detroit's Motown were the catalyst that led Sean into Soul. An English teenager with a box of records, he began DJ-ing in 1973, initially working clubs throughout the region, and was resident at the Charade Club Rotherham, Yorkshire for 4 years, dedicated to the promotion of new release and classic Soul. He migrated to All-nighters in the late 70's at such groundbreaking venues as Clifton Hall Rotherham and into the early 80's at Cleethorpes Winter Gardens, Bradford Queens Hall, Warrington Parr Hall etc. He helped champion the birth of the 'Modern Soul' scene in the UK and the acceptance of what he calls 'Real Soul' on the Allnighter circuit. Sean was one of the PITCHES crew in the mid 90's, which coined the phrase 'across the board' along the way. This consummate pro has been a regular DJ at the UK's premier Soul Weekender, Soul Essence, Yarmouth, for the past 18 years, where his 'Midnight Hour' and 'Goodbye Songs' sessions are always eagerly awaited!
