Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 4 The Snorks Snorks was a children's animated television series created by Belgian cartoonist [a=Nicolas Broca] (1932—1993), with four seasons and 65 episodes aired in the United States on the NBC network and in syndication between September 1984 and March 1989. A commercial failure in American broadcast, the show performed significantly better in the international distribution, gaining a limited "cult following" years later. Between 2012 and 2016, Warner Archive released all four seasons on DVD, and the show was partially available on the [l=Hulu] streaming platform. Intricately connected to an acclaimed Smurfs cartoon series launched in 1981, the "Snorks" ran concurrently on the same television network for five years. Freddy Monnickendam (b. 1954), the creator of both shows, first joined prolific Belgian comic publisher [l=Dupuis] in 1977, where he soon negotiated a licensing deal for the company's flagship series, renowned [a=Peyo]'s graphic novel "Smurfs," for [m=241756] album by French singer [a=Pierre Kartner] on [l=Decca]/[l=Polydor]. Freddy then got promoted to the head of the SEPP International division responsible for the "Smurfs" merchandising. He established a fruitful partnership with [l=Hanna-Barbera Productions] and [l=3M France], launching an eponymous children's animated TV series for National Broadcasting Company, one of the "Big Three" American networks, in September 1981. Even though Smurfs was an instant smashing hit and one of NBC's primetime offerings for the children's audience, [a=Peyo] and Freddy constantly clashed over creative differences, royalties distribution, and every possible contract clause during lengthy negotiations, culminating in Peyo's lawsuit against Monnickendam shortly after the show's premiere. Thus, the Snorks originated as a direct competitor to "Smurfs," devised by Monnickendam as a payback to Peyo; Freddy was confident he could easily repeat the same "recipe for success" by sourcing another comic series in Europe with a more agreeable author and licensing it to NBC via [l=Hanna Barbera]. In early 1982, he found just the right match — Snorks, a new comic book self-published by Belgian cartoonist Nic Broca and portraying "snorks" — brightly-colored anthropomorphic sea creatures. Fundamentally similar to "Smurfs," the aspiring publication differed enough to attract the same audience while avoiding plagiarism accusations. Broca agreed to sell television rights to SEPP, and Freddy immediately began working on a pilot episode for NBC with [a=William Hanna & Joseph Barbera]. The Snorks premiered on NBC on Saturday, 15th September 1984 — the same day as the fourth season of "Smurfs" — featuring a prolific cast of voiceover actors: [a=Michael Bell], [a=Brian Cummings (6)], [a=B.J. Ward], [a=Nancy Cartwright], [a=Barry Gordon], [a=Rob Paulsen], and [a=Frank Welker]. Despite all promotional efforts, the Snorks never gained audience ratings and commercial profits even remotely comparable to "Smurfs," discontinued in March 1989 after four seasons. The show's declining ratings cost Monnickendam his showrunner contract with [l=Hanna Barbera] (his former partners co-produced the final two seasons of "Smurfs" with Lafig S.A. instead) and ultimately led to SEPP's dissolution.

Search Add 4 Wilson Danilo Wilson Danilo Medeiros de Jesus Wilson Danilo Medeiros de Jesus, or simply Wilson Danilo, Born in Salvador, Bahia, died in 2013, on the eve of his 100th birthday, he was a radio / announcer, presenter, singer and composer. Owner of an extensive and accurate vocabulary, besides the powerful voice, he began his career in 1942, in Rio de Janeiro, as speaker of the speaker system known at the time as "bell mouth". At this same period he recorded his first work as a singer. A 78 rpm disc with the songs "A Canção de Friburgo (The Song of Friburgo)", of Antônio Caetano, and "Palhaço da Vida (Life's Clown) ", of César Cruz. Since then, he recorded several discs, among 78 rotations, singles, double singles and CDs. Danilo played tangos, boleros and MPB classics with impressive mastery. He alone gave the impression that there was an orchestra on the stage. In 1957, the illustrious character moved to Governador Valadares, in the eastern part of Minas Gerais, where he worked on "Mundo Melhor", "Educadora" and "Ibituruna" (the only three AM stations in the city at the time). In these radio stations, nowadays practically dead, Danilo did everything: he was a helper, a janitor, a sound engineer, an advertising salesman, a presenter and a director. In his popular program, he had one of the largest audiences ever in the region. He began the presentation of the hour with phrases and verses of his own. Something like: "Beautiful girl / from my city / my love for you / I want your happiness / my love / my good will ...". In the early sixties he recorded in a compact of 78 rotations the Afro drum "Só o ôme", written by the Bahia composer Edenal Rodrigues, also played by Noriel Vilella, from the legendary group Nilo Amaro & the Ebony Singers.

Search Add 4 Tjuva Sweden EDM act, formed by Emmy Altemyr and Jasmina Mujcinovic. Meet the newest female duo that’s turning heads in dance music: Tjuva. Although freshly established on Facebook and Soundcloud, these girls have been working hard together since Tjuva’s inception nearly two years ago. Both members, Emmy Altemyr and Jasmina Mujcinovic, were on the solo DJ career path when they first met. Attending a production course in Ibiza back in 2012, Emmy and Jasmina connected instantly after meeting; and soon the girls decided to join forces and fulfill their dreams of producing their own dance music. Now back in Sweden, the collective work of Tjuva is alive and the duo is ready to release their first original track, entitled Euphony, on October 8th. Check out the preview video to Euphony below! On top of putting in the major studio time, these two are keeping their momentum alive by playing gigs all over Sweden including the upcoming Life In Color in Umea. The lineup holds a spot for Tjuva alongside big names including Adrian Lux, Sebjak, Rebecca & Fiona and more. Their debut track Euphony is set to release on Link Music, a branch of Sony, setting these girls up for success – so long as they stay true to their vision and continue to develop their unique style. Keep your eyes on these two; with the rarity and increasing demand of solid females behind the decks, Tjuva could potentially be the next female mainstay in electronic dance music. Search Add 4 Finger Blas Blas Finger Blas Finger, a trained drummer, nowadays a multi-instrumentalist who uses musical tools as his way of expression and search. His musical path started in 2005-2006, when he became a member of the instrumental rock band Las Cosas and understood that recording albums was the way to go: create, make decisions, leave a record and move forward. This was followed by three studio albums released on CD, one live and a digital EP edition. To edit this material, the band created Prius Discos, a record label that has already released 77 albums of various projects and artists. In 2011 he joined Compañero Asma as a drummer to participate in the albums Mágica Posesión and Templado and became a collaborator and satellite of the band. 2012 he started collecting records (a lifelong passion, in different formats: cassette in his childhood, later cd and vinyl) and DJing. Playing records became a means of survival for him. In 2014 he participated with other DJs in the foundation of Family Affair, a cultural collective for the diffusion of ideas and music, and turned to electronic music as his own language and sound. That same year he composed, together with Pablo Spretz, the music for the short film Viedma. The duo Finger-Spretz would later found a musical project and label called Doble Moral which released a split cassette in 2017. During the period 2016-2018 he concentrated on developing his character as an electronic musician playing in a live format searching for the balance point between his major influences: kraut, ambient and electronic track music.  In November 2017 the first solo work of Finger Blas -Infancia tardía- was released by Prius Discos in which he wanted to deepen this hybrid of electronic music and genres such as kraut and even dub. In May 2020 he released his next work, the EP “Cuatro notas para un futuro nuevo”, a work with an intimate tone (produced entirely in the Argentine lockdown as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic) in which confinement, uncertainty, sound experimentation and the search for freedom coexist in an ambiguous way. In November, in the middle of a musical clairvoyance, “Horas doradas” (Golden Hours) appears, his second album of 2020, a strange and painful year for the whole humanity. In 2021 Blas release by himself on Bandcamp his most ambicious work, "La Zona", a techno/electro-oriented 35 mins album.
