Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024

Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Humi Dumi Hailing since the cold and rainy late 2012, Humi Dumi came to offer you a good cup of warm chamomile tea. Subtle, innocent, but there’s a hidden power underneath it all. Thus, that’s their music can be described, which they call as innocent pop-folk. Humi Dumi early members are Nitnot (vocal), Irna (bass), Yufi (drum, kahoon), and bimo (guitar). Their first performance stole lots of attention at Ouval on November 2012. The dreamy and light vocal, accompanied by heart – warming music, haunted many ears at that time. This time, they’re not only consisted of four member, but also brilyan (guitar) and Raja (keyboard). Their dreamy lyric about fantasy are written by their vocalist, NitNot. While their music, which is dominated by tingling guitar sound, is influenced by lost of musician, like Angus and Julia Stone and Daughter. “Lots of people say that our main influence is Angus and Julia Stone, in fact there’s a lot of musician and bands out there who influence us. Maybe it’s because we often cover their songs, so that’s what makes people think so.”, said NitNot. Search Add 2 Snekhoose Snekhoose is a collaborative project between [a=Jonah Hebron] (aka [a=Mzungu], [a=Cacero Lazo]) and [a=Rupert Spurrier]. Conceived of as a blend between folk and drone, the forthcoming debut EP Oscar Pray for Oscar the Dog treads the line between electronic and traditional music. The manner in which the music has been created is unique. The instruments used in the album, an acoustic guitar and a Microkorg, are treated in the manner of musique concrete – as samples to be broken apart, split and assembled. As the artists live in separate cities, York and Edinburgh respectively, this manipulation was present at a digital level as the files were passed to and fro, each artist adding layers of sound on top of the others. These pieces were then supplemented by snippets of live performance recordings.

It began as an experiment with a common interest in live audio-visual compositions by which sound and images produced are derived from the same set of signals. Just as synthesizers can produce sound, they can also produce images. In essence, by interchangeably using frequencies that we can both see and hear, “nuuun” aims to give a new perspective on the relationship between sound and image.

Search Add 2 GreenSugar GreenSugar is a 4 piece Rock N Roll quartet from Chicago IL. The band was born in the Great West after singer/guitarist Parker Dodson rode a three legged pack Mule across the Great Plains and through the Rockies to LA. After years of intense worship in the Ancient house of Troy, a group of priests were brought together to begin spreading the Gospel of Rock that Dodson had unearthed. These sage characters stormed the Sunset Strip and much of the Southern California coast for many moons until they realized that the diseases of modern society had poisoned the good people of this land so totally that their words could simply not be heard…and so this dreamer left for greener pastures… Upon returning to Chicago, Dodson promptly tracked down his childhood friend Jon Patrick Luby, a former Buffalo rider and freelance wildfire fighter, to provide rhythms and power. The two then set off around the Midwest gigging for the better part of a year with nothing but an oxen pulled cart and a roaming minstrel named Ubaldo. During their travels the band met a young saint named Michael “Swedish” Starcevic in the bowels of one of Chicago’s largest holy houses. St. Swedish had been raised studying many of the same scriptures as these men and despite a harrowing flight aboard an ostrich named Carroll he continued to worship the Gospel. Thus after a three day Walkabout in the woods of Wisconsin to cleanse his Inner Soul it was decided that he would join the cause. This band of brothers now numbering four foraged on; spreading their words of wisdom for thousands of lost souls until one night after an exhausting three hour ceremony a man arose from the crowd and introduced himself simply as, “the Pope.” He offered his services as the Bassman to Patrick’s pounding thunder and after calling upon the ghosts of Lord Vildamont Jameson it was ordained that his Holiness take his seat as the Ying to Patrick’s Yang. Since that fateful evening the band has wandered the streets of America delivering its message to the needy and consequently slaughtering its enemies along the way. Their songs speak of hope and irony, and the experiences the band have undergone and are now the foundation for the band’s explosive live set, which has been seen alongside such Rock N Roll Icons as Warren Haynes and Gov’t Mule, Les Claypool, and The Black Crowes. The band is now currently on tour throughout the Midwest and hoping for the opportunity to change your mind…about everything.

Search Add 2 Noah Lost The Birdhouse The story of Noah Lost The Birdhouse (NLTB) in 1993, when Martin Auf Der Maur, Florian Christen, Nico Gubser, Guide Hess and Markus Wolfisberg began to play together under their new name. Only one year later, they had their first gig - from about 150. NLTB played partyrock in pubs from Chiasso until Kreuzlingen. In this time, 2 CDs were created: "Greatest Hits" with the radiohit "Schachmatt" and "Out Of Cage". The tracks were one time in English, one time in Swiss-German, from Folk to Blues and Rock to Punk, everything was possible, as long as it made fun. In 1999, NLTB decided to sing only in English and to integrate sampler and rap in their music - no more partysound, only TripHop. New members were the singer Chantal Aerschmann and the drummer Thomas Bättigt. Unfortunately, Thomas Bättigt died. The band was confused about their own future, but decided to go on with their work, with more energy than ever. In 2001, Marco Buffoni joined the band and plans for a new CD were created. The money for the album was gained by gigs with the entertainment-trio "Les Lunettes", with the bandmembers Florian Christen, Guido Hess and Markus Wolfisberg. Les Lunettes played on "events" as weddings and NLTB were seeking for a producer, which they found in Luk Zimmermann, member and producer of the band Lunik. This co-operation leaded to the album "Dive", which got compliments on concerts, but unfortunately the radiostations didn't play the tracks from the CD.
