Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 29/07/2025

Found 602638 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 AUMwizards [a=AUMwizards] is a Psy-Trance collaboration project between [a=AUManoid] & [a=WizardSmoke] ([a=Yohann Oetheimer] & [a=Jonathan Avison]). The journey started back in 2013, when [a=AUManoid] and [a=WizardSmoke] first worked together on a few audio experiments in Reason 5. Time has passed until spring 2017 when they joined forces in order to achieve a more serious collaboration. A new symbiosis was born, concocted by the [a=AUMwizards]. The combination of both magical ingredients results in a groundbreaking genre of punchy Psychedelic Trance tuned to 432 Hertz, bewitching and mesmerizing the dancefloor.

Search Add 2 Invertsys Alexey Rodin Alexey Rodin (August 16, 1986, Russia) is a composer specializing on the experimental genres Ambient, Downtempo, IDM, Noise and founder of the musical projects Adaptcore, Human Terminal, Sinexoid, Inverted Systems. Born and grew up in Ramenskoye district, Moscow region. Since created of Invertsys released more than 15 albums available free for download. From an early age, interested about electronics and radio engineering. The beginning was taking by old tape recorders, on which recorded various kinds of street and industrial noises, conversations, radio and television, after the sounds mixed on one cassette like form of a noise product. Influence also was under by countless sound and game equipment, what analyzed and recorded on tape after reassembled. The use of computers and the learning of programs have acquired a more musical connotation in creativity. With the internet access in 2006, Alexey made a decision to create of the Adaptcore project. After the first release of the Dark Ambient album, titled «Sunset After Wind» on Darkwinter net-label, album instantly received positive reviews. Followed by the album «Idle Process» on the Benekkea label in the Noise style, the content of which received by the audience quite positively, release under name «Child's Play» was last. During the existence of the Adaptcore project, Alexey experimented in many styles and, at last, Ambient, Downtempo and Noise were chosen for further work. Interest in noise, as art, expressed in the Human Terminal project in 2008, in which most of the releases were rated well. Several albums supported by «Rec72», «Amduscias Records» labels with a part sounded on the air of «Vombat Radio». Finally, the disclosure of opportunities in the IDM, Downtempo carried out by the Sinexoid project, whose albums released completely in 2010-2012. Thanks to many reviews from the listeners of Rutracker.org, project has gained little popularity. After the release of «Mute», it decided to take a break. In 2017, Alexey returned to creative work after 5 years ago with the album «Discrete Way» of the next project Inverted Systems (Invertsys). «Hopes for Invertsys are great and its creation has been considered for a long time, this project is experience that has been gained since my works began to be published. Especially, five years of silence was enough to form its own style, in which the project will work.», – Alexey Rodin, 2017.

Search Add 2 Josh Spurling Like most of us, Josh Spurling started life as a baby in a small town which, by today's standards, is still called Indianapolis. By the age of 13, he was already a teenager and began writing music with no response. Six years later, he wrote some better music and joined a group of weirdos who referred to themselves as That One Band. Over the next 21 years, they created seven albums and one child, future voice actress and past theater director Emily Diamond. In 2010, Josh got his big break in show business when he appeared as an extra in a music video. Through his work on this video, he was discovered by his brother, writer/director/actor/brother Stephen Spurling. Josh was hired to compose music , but insisted on acting in, Stephen's new podcast, "The Rich and the Filthy." It was here that Josh met the love of his life, voice actress Erin Peris, whom he would later marry to avoid a scandal. Stephen was well known for his tyrannical directing, and the set was very tense. Fist fights broke out almost daily, and the cast often watched them on Youtube to relieve the stress between scenes. The success of the show lasted until it stopped being aired. At that point, Josh's whole life crumbled. He began sleeping in the gutter or, at least, in beds that had recently been in the gutter. It was then that he formed a now infamous band called Shamalamamonkey who keep writing songs about someone named Gussle. Currently, Josh often lives near his wife and daughter and spends his days writing this biography.
Search Add 2 Cal Young Cal Young known under pseudonym of KOWL is an songwriter and producer from Hobart, Tasmania. Cal began his music career as one half of the electro outfit [a919780] with classmate and friend Simon McIntosh. Praised for their energetic and engaging live performances at festivals, supporting national touring acts and headlining clubs around Australia. After releasing their Debut EP ‘Electronic Sunset’, [a919780] received radio rotation for their single ‘Easy’, and went on to release their debut album 'A Personal Universe' after a short stint in London. After deciding to take a break from [a919780] to pursue independent music interests, Cal began working with Hobart singer-songwriter [a3529578]. Shortly after, [a3529578] won Triple J Unearthed High 2012 with her song “[r=30849990]” - a song which Cal produced in his bedroom (and follow up Asta single “[r=30849735]”). “[r=30849990]” placed at number 50 in Triple J’s 2012 Hottest 100 Countdown. Whilst writing, recording, and touring with [a3529578], Cal’s love for production led him to create KOWL, his first independent musical endeavour. KOWL combines the creativity of hardware and sound found in [a919780], as well as the pop sensibilities of [a3529578], to become a fresh new approach to songwriting and production.

Search Add 2 Broken Notes The Beginning Before this project was given it's name (Broken Notes) it started out with just two people without a band name, Jason Gervais and Sam Dean, back in 2002. Their goal was to create a fan album inspired by Akira Yamaoka's music for, at the time, Silent Hill 1 and Silent Hill 2. This album later became known as the Silent Hill Fan Soundtrack and received a limited release on a handful of gaming forums. After it's release it inspired the both of them to create a follow-up album. Broken Notes During production of the second album they came into contact with John Anthony Mathewson whom was creating a fan album of his own (which would have been titled Broken Notes) and came to a mutual agreement to combine their two projects together and call the album Broken Notes. At the beginning of November 2003, the album was placed for download on a mini-website featuring music by John, Jason, and Sam. This particular album received a great amount of attention from the community and was widely praised. It encouraged the three of them to put together a third album which took over a year to finish. An official website was also put together for the band to keep fans updated on all the latest news.

Search Add 2 Festercyst Festercyst started in the Winter of 2002 in Arizona. Pitch shifting was a strong element in the music. Drum programming was utilized due to lack of any reliable drummers. Pirated software was used in the recording process. To roughly fit this into a sub-genre, it would be a hybrid of aggressive Punk/Drum Machine Goregrind. Festercyst was laid to rest after the formation of Black Pathology in 2006.

Search Add 2 Distant Flows Distant Flow’s journey into music began at the age of 7 in Le Muy, South of France where he would struggle with the confines and lack of creativity that regimented piano lessons offer; instead of listening to his tutor he would dance about and disobey. As a teenager he played guitar in metal bands; a good precursor to the dark heavy beats and melancholic electronic style we hear today. The age of 18 was a turning point for Distant Flows; whilst at college he discovered he could make music on his own, with complete creative freedom with only his laptop and whilst simultaneously discovering bands like Pendulum, who were blurring the lines between Heavy Metal and Drum and Bass, he investigated further falling deeper down the rabbit hole discovering the energy-fuelled worlds of Drum and Bass, Neurofunk, Dub and Dub-step. Distant Flows was blown away, hooked and eager to start producing his own music, originally using soft-synths, drawing inspiration from the likes of Burial and Exission. These days Distant Flows prefers producing with hard-synths, he’s no ‘synth snob’ and has no problem with soft-synths, describing hard-synths as something of a luxury, but enjoys playing and experimenting with something that is tangible. He finds the limitations of hard-sytnhs keeps him focused; finding it harder to end up with something that sounds overproduced “You see amazing people just playing guitar in the street, so it’s not all about the equipment”. Distant Flows finds making music cathartic, it’s his release and finds it to be partially self-defining. Over the past couple of years has found himself to be at ease with the process, describing making music being similar to speaking a second language, “you have to get the grammar in place first, otherwise it’s super simple and functional”. In 2017 Distant Flows set his sights on Bristol, he wanted to move due to the rich music history in the city, “In the South of France, I knew no one making electronic music, and that is the real difference with Bristol.” Distant Flows describes his music as moody, melancholic without being too dark, almost like an enjoyable sadness. He has many influences, but is particularly interested in the careers of Paul Kalkbrenner, Lorn and Jon Hopkins.
