Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024
Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 6 | Аркадий Покрасс | Аркадий Яковлевич Покрасс | Arkady Pokrass (1898–196?) was a Russian virtuoso pianist, composer, and conductor, brother of Samuel, Dmitry, and Daniel Pokrass. He was born in Kiev and studied at the Conservatory. Pokrass was an accompanist for various popular singers, including Natalia Tamara (1873–1934). Unfortunately, "gypsy" music fell out of favor by the end of the 1920s, leaving Tamara without repertoire and leading to the complete abandonment of her career (Natalia ended her life broke and forgotten). As a big propagator of Russian romance, Arkady also suffered from the new ideological climate, but in the 1930s, he turned back to success by introducing Vadim Kozin to the Moscow audience. The singer soon became hugely popular across the whole Soviet Union, and Arkady Pokrass had been accompanying him. In 1936, Pokrass also worked as a conductor of the Gorky Central Park of Culture and Leisure Variety Orchestra in Moscow. After a conflict with Lavrenti Beria in 1939, Kozin was prosecuted and sent to exile in the Kolyma. Pokrass lost his protégé and barely escaped arrest himself. After that, not much is known about his life. One of the last documented mentions was discovered in Tambov archives. According to it, Arkady Pokrass was spotted at the grand opening of the local club in 1949, together with an artist Sergey Martinson. Unlike Dmitry and Daniel, Arkady was practically forgotten. The exact time and place of death are also unknown. One of his gramophone records was mentioned in the ad in BIRYUCH of Petrograd State Theatres magazine, Issue No. 4, 1918. |

At 20 years old, he was working part time selling and distributing reggae albums and records to local record stores for top reggae singers at that time, like Bob Marley’s “Natty Dread” album and also distribute Burning Spear’s albums. This was the time, by associating with Bob Marley, Burning Spear, Ras Michael, Barry accepted the Rastafarian way of life, and became a Rastaman. Three of his five brothers, including Barry, decided to form their own reggae group called “GARWOOD BROTHERS” in the 1970s. (‘Garwood’ is Barry’s family name) The “Garwood Brothers” working with Micron Music Ltd., created 8 singles after becoming professional at the Harry J Recording studio in Jamaica. Some of their singles included well-known tracks like “Deepest Love”, “Everything” “Never let go” and more. In the 1980s Barry went Solo with the new name Barry Micron. His solo career led him to become a chorus singer for well known reggae artists like Gregory Isaacs in the song “Mr. Cops”. He also did a duet song with the famous Sugar Minot titled “This ‘Ol man” and also continued his singing career with other major artists like Junior Byle. In 1996, Barry Micron started working on releasing his first album in Jamaica. After finishing recording all 13 tracks on the album, Barry Micron came to Japan in 1998 to release his first album titled “PRAISE JAH” , Praise Jah was released in Japan summer of 1999. The album “Praise Jah” has hit songs like “Love of King Selasse”, “Mandela”, “Praise Jah”. This is Barry’s comment about the release of his first album: “This album, “Praise Jah”, gave me the courage to move on and let people know that there is an Almighty One who all should give praises to. It’s an album of peace and to spread good vibrations to all the nations.” After his first album, Barry Micron went to work on his second album. “FREE MARIJUANA” which was released in December 2000 with hit songs like “Free Marijuana”, “What do they get”, “Africa is calling” and many more. The same year he vocal in a track with the famous Japanese pop reggae group, “3 pint 6 milk” album. In March the same year, Barry Micron returned from Israel on a reggae tour called “Zion Tour”. His 3rd Album came in 2003 titled “We Are One” dedicated to the concept of One Love. Since coming to Japan in 1998, Barry Micron has been busy doing live shows around Japan. Some of them in Toyko, Kyushu, Nagoya, Gifu, Shinsaibashi, Kyoto etc. Pioneering the works started by Bob Marley, Barry Micron is working hard on his 4th album whiles spreading positive rasta vibez in the Kansai community through Reggae music. |

Search | Add | 6 | J.K. Coltrain | J. K. Coltrain was born in Columbus, Ohio. He spent his early childhood days between there and West Virginia where his parents operated a small Mom & Pop grocery store. His Dad also was an excellent auto mechanic and in fact owned a number of repair shops over the years and was a weekend stock car racer. That's one reason why J. K. is a Nascar fanatic to this day:) J.K. grew up surrounded by music & musicians. His cousin, Buddy Starcher was a professional recording artist on Columbia Records and was a regular performer on the then popular Midwestern & Louisiana Hayrides. He also introduced the late Keith Whitley who first appeared on Buddys weekly radio show in Charleston, West Virginia when he was 8 years old. J. K. made his own first appearance on radio at age 12 and first TV appearance at age 14. His Uncle & Grandpa performed together at churches throughout the South. That's where J. K. made his first appearance singing in church at the ripe old age of 11. His first professional job was at age 14 when he began singing with The Pleasant Hill Quartet. A well-known gospel group at the time. Of course in his teens he had to try his hand in high school dance bands like Fire n' Ice and The Four Aces but by age 20 he had returned to his first love country music. At that time J. K. helped form a 7 piece country rock group called 'The Southern Express'. They garnered a great deal of regional success and opened for many popular groups at that time such as Pure Prairie League, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Poco & The Marshall Tucker Band. In 1983 he left The Southern Express to pursue a solo career as his heart was with more traditional country music. He appeared to be taking the music business by storm as he was often the featured artist on Ernest Tubbs Midnite Jamboree and many popular Nashville nightclubs and was dubbed The Star of Tomorrow by Country Music News. He first cracked the country music charts in 1987 with a self-penned song, West Virginia You're Still My Home on the Studio 7 label. Since then he had enjoyed a number of chart successes including being shown in the Top 40 in Europe for 41 straight weeks. He also has made many appearances on radio & TV including The Nashville Showcase, The Midnight Jamboree, Nashville On Stage, The Jerry Lewis Telethon & Stars of Tomorrow Show. J. K. has toured worldwide and worked with some of the greatest names in country music including Jerry Reed, Loretta Lynn, The Bellamy Brothers, Conway Twitty, Buck Owens, George Jones, Tammy Wynette & Jerry Lee Lewis to name just a few. In addition to still recording and performing on his own J.K. is now helping the new up & coming young artists serving as the President of Colt Records Nashville as well as Nashville Radio Promotions, Chairman of The Traditional Country Opry and hosting The Country Star Showcases. He was recently awarded The Texas CMA Entertainer and Best Country Album of The Year awards. J. K. Coltrain is a member of: Traditional Country Hall of Fame Country Music Association Academy of Country Music Country Legends Association Americana Music Association

These urban mariachis (pretentious, moi!?) are Johnny Quid (vocals, amateur dramatics), Phlegm Gibson (guitar), Uncle J Khomeni (bass) and Ricky C (bongos). They bang out a furious 20-minute (smoking ban-friendly) set of short and catchy Modern Lovers meet Slaughter and the Dogs meet the Electric Eels inspired mini-operas with the kind of incompetent teenage enthusiasm which only the borderline middle-aged can truly muster.

Search | Add | 6 | Ralph Bakshi | Ralph Bakshi (born October 29, 1938) is an American director of animated and live-action films. In the 1970s, he established an alternative to mainstream animation through independent and adult-oriented productions. Between 1972 and 1992, he directed nine theatrically released feature films, five of which he wrote. He has been involved in numerous television projects as director, writer, producer and animator. Beginning his career at the Terrytoons television cartoon studio as a cel polisher, Bakshi was eventually promoted to animator, and then director. He moved to the animation division of Paramount Pictures in 1967 and started his own studio, Bakshi Productions, in 1968. Through producer Steve Krantz, Bakshi made his debut feature film, Fritz the Cat, released in 1972. It was the first animated film to receive an X rating from the Motion Picture Association of America, and the most successful independent animated feature of all time. Over the next eleven years, Bakshi directed seven additional animated features. He is well known for such films as Wizards (1977), The Lord of the Rings (1978), American Pop (1981) and Fire and Ice (1983). In 1987, Bakshi returned to television work, producing the series Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures, which ran for two years. After a nine-year hiatus from feature films, he directed Cool World (1992), which was largely rewritten during production and received poor reviews. Bakshi returned to television with the live-action film Cool and the Crazy (1994) and the anthology series Spicy City (1997).

Detrick | Alice Detrick, born Alice Mulks and who for a time worked under the name [a=Janece Morgan], was born in Slaterville Springs, NY, on 17 July 1940 to Omar and Emma Mulks. She started performing country and rockabilly music professionally while a student at Ithaca High School, both as a solo artist and with the country band [a=The Tune Twisters (4)] of the Binghamton, NY area, with whom she played and sang regularly on radio stations WINR (Binghamton, NY) and WENE (Endicott, NY). Morgan's big break came at age 16, when she auditioned for [a=Dusty Owens] of the WWVA Jamboree and spent much of the summer of 1956 touring with him. It was Owens who gave her the stage name Janece Morgan, which he said came to him in a dream. Sometime after that tour, she dropped the alias and used her married name [a=Alice Detrick] as a performer and recording artist. She went on as an opening act for tours with [a=Loretta Lynn], [a=Roy Clark], [a=Charley Pride], and [a=The Charlie Daniels Band] and performed with [a=Lynn Anderson] at the Halogaland Country Music Festival in Norway. For 20 years Morgan was known as the “FMCA Sweetheart,” accompanying the Family Motor Coach Association conventions around the United States. In 1985 she was inducted into the New York State Country Music Hall of Fame. As Janece Morgan she recorded several tracks in the 1950s for the label [l=Marlee Record Co.] in Trumansburg, NY, mostly in the country and rockabilly styles. As [a=Alice Detrick], she had several releases including a single on [l=ABC Records]. She died on 22 September 2022 in Montour Falls, NY, at the age of 82. |

From the liner notes of the record 1961 recorded at the festival: "At Whitsun, jazz lovers from all parts of Germany, and even from the large regions behind the Iron Curtain met in Berlin. They were there to see and hear jazz on stage, its different musical ways of expressions, and its various relations to other forms of art. This festival was marked by two highlights: first, the genius of Thelonious Monk spreading dramatic tension, as usual, and the performance of the European All Stars presented by Joachim-Ernst Berendt. -- Thirteen musicians came together, from twelve countries -- each country sending its leading musician, says Berendt. ..."
