Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 3 The Brumbeats Buddy Ash (Graham Ashford) lead vocal (left 1965) Paul Carter saxophone Alan "Bugsy" Eastwood drums, vocal (left 1966) Graham Gallery bass guitar, vocal (left 1966) Roger Hill guitar, vocal (left 1966) Tony Carter guitar, vocal Robbie Harper guitar, vocal (joined 1966) Alan Buxton drums (joined 1966) This Birmingham group came very close to making a breakthrough into the record charts early in 1964 during the first wave of the British "beat boom" as started by The Beatles and others. The line-up were first known as "The Plazents", named after Mary Regan's well known Plaza Ballroom in Old Hill where the band became the resident act. "They are all good musicians - quite a rarity among modern beat groups" The Plazents were formed in Erdington by drummer Dave Mountney (from the Beachcombers), guitarists Graham Gallery and Roger Hill (both previously with a group called "Bobby and The Dominators") while saxophonist Paul Carter came from Northfield. By 1963, The Plazents had enlisted Buddy Ash from Smethwick, formerly of The Eko's and the Diplomats, as their lead vocalist. While at the Plaza, the group were able to back some well known visiting American artists such as Tommy Roe, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chris Montez, The Ronettes, and many more. The positive response to The Plazents from the Plaza regulars was such that they were signed to a recording contract by Decca Records in July 1963 although it would not be until September before they could go into the studio due to bass guitarist Graham Gallery having a bout with pneumonia. Decca also told the group to get another drummer so Dave Mountney was replaced by Alan "Bugsy" Eastwood. In order to capitalize on the so-called "Mersey Beat" mania that was sweeping the country at that time, the term "Brum Beat" was being used by some promoters as a means of advertising West Midlands groups who had recently been signed-up. In light of this, Decca Records decided that The Plazents name should be changed to "The Brumbeats" prior to the release of their first single. (Note: there was also another 1960's group in Birmingham called "The Brum Beats" whose vocalist Norman Haines would later join the group Locomotive). Decca Records chose a great song for the A-side of The Brumbeats first record release that had been composed by the group themselves. The track was called 'I Don't Understand' with the recording done very much in the style of the popular "Mersey Sound" while also considered as potential material for well known singer Billy Fury. The song was actually composed by the Brumbeats singer Buddy Ash (Graham Ashford) who wrote the lyrics with the music composed by Graham Gallery and Roger Hill. This record was produced by Mike Leander who had recently made hit records with another Brum band The Applejacks. He would later work with The Fortunes and The Montanas before going on to have much success with Gary Glitter in the 1970s. The single's B-side was another up-beat recording titled 'Cry Little Girl, Cry'. Despite radio and TV appearances on shows like "Thank Your Lucky Stars" the Brumbeats 45 did not manage to become a national hit although it was popular throughout the West Midlands and sold-out in many Birmingham record shops. "The Merseyboys" The band's profile also increased when a local newspaper at the time published a story with the headline; "It could be a really fab Feb. for the Brum Beats". The paper went on to say; "They are all good musicians - quite a rarity among modern beat groups - and Decca are considering using them as session men." As well as providing support for visiting acts, The Brumbeats had performed on the same bill as The Beatles whenever they played in the Birmingham area. The Brumbeats similarity in their sound to The Beatles was not lost on Decca as they were soon involved in a recording project resulting in the release of a now-rare 15-track album of Beatles songs as performed by "The Merseyboys" who were really The Brumbeats under a different name. While most Beatles fans would not be fooled by these recordings, the LP stands as a tribute to The Brumbeats as talented musicians and in particular guitarist Roger Hill who brilliantly duplicates both George and John's parts simultaneously as he probably usually did on stage! This album was also issued in the U.S.A. on the famous Vee-Jay Records label - one of the first American labels to promote records by The Beatles. Despite making other recordings for Decca, the Brumbeats unfortunately disbanded in early 1965 when Graham Ashford left to go solo before further records could be released. The group later re-formed for a short time with new members Robbie Harper and Alan Buxton replacing Roger Hill and Bugsy Eastwood. Graham Gallery briefly joined the Rockin' Berries and later became a member of "The Midland Light Orchestra". He also worked with the famous Move and Wizzard performer Roy Wood during the 1970s. Graham died in the 1980s at only 35 years of age. Roger Hill went on to other Birmingham bands including The Uglys and later re-uniting with former Brumbeats drummer Alan Eastwood when they formed the pop/rock group The Exception. Roger enjoyed a successful career as a jazz guitarist until he passed away in 2011 (see Roger Hill). Sadly, Alan "Bugsy" Eastwood also passed away in 2007. Buddy Ash (Graham Ashford) went on to form his own new group in 1965 that was named "The Bobby Ash Sound". Graham later moved to Hawaii and now lives in California where he still continues to perform and write songs. Saxophonist Paul Carter was recently discovered in South Africa where he still lives today.

Search Add 3 The Blindfold Experience The Blindfold Experience is a Musical Project with contributing artists from all over the world. The music is heavily inspired by rock and metal, although crossing many genres, and also features acoustic songs. Influences include bands and artists like Avenged Sevenfold, Queensrÿche and Dream Theater. The name Blindfold Experience was chosen because the performing musicians and vocalists never meet in most cases. We don’t even see each other; we’re just messaging each other and sending audio tracks across the world, adding our parts and sending them back. Completely Corona Safe, and we still create a musically inspiring environment, as each musician adds his or her own touch to the song. The musical journey starts in Sweden, from where the songs travel across the globe at a steady BPM to a dream team of hand-picked musicians and singers. The performing artists vary from song to song. To this date, we have performing artists, musicians, vocalists and mixing engineers from Sweden, the UK, the US, Argentina, Australia, Ecuador, Cyprus, Germany, Iceland, India, Italy, Poland and Ukraine.

(The) Mudguards Active in East London and Essex between ’81 and ’93, and inspired by quintessential English working class entertainment – music hall, skiffle, drinking songs and broadsides – (The) Mudguards’ theme, or rather career-long obsession, was the “commodification of dissent”. In fact what makes their work special, and more resonant today than that of your typical sloganeering anarcho bleater, is their awareness of their own complicity in the things they despise, and all the self-loathing that comes with it.

Search Add 3 Dr. Schafausen Artist Dr. Schafausen is an Italian bassist, composer, and pioneer of a new music genre. Aptly called Dystopian Metal, this genre contains several influences of existing genres such as metalcore, djent, trap, and progressive metal. Unique, disorienting, and provocative, this genre is artfully utilized by Dr. Schafausen and his team to create a different kind of music. Dr. Schafausen’s team for their new album consists of band members Slava Antonenko, the vocalist, Michael Pahalen, the guitarist, Dr. Schafausen, who is at the bass & vocals, and Anatole Lyssenko, who is at the drums. The band’s latest album, titled ‘Waiting for Tomorrow,’ was released earlier this year on March 9th. Released under the label Sliptrick Records, this metalcore, djent, and trap core dystopian album has garnered a lot of attention from its niche audience. Dr. Schafausen, also known as Sergio Pagnacco, is also best known for his accomplishments as the founding member of the metal band Vanexa. Pagnacco has been in the music scene for a while and has worked alongside several big names in the music industry. In 2009, the bassist joined the power prog-metal band called Labyrinth, which toured internationally and played in several places. During this time, the artist shared the stage with Motorhead, Saxon, Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, and others. This experience has served Pagnacco well and shows in his musical accomplishments. However, Pagnacco or Dr. Schafausen has his forte in dystopian music. Characterized by the dehumanization, despair, and both human and natural disasters, Dr. Schafausen’s music contains several imaginative themes based on such end-of-world elements. This innovative project can be described as a chaotic yet essential way to identify with the current happenings of society; in fact, such frenetic works are often a reflection of current circumstances. Dr. Schafausen can also be described as a dystopian author because of his creative storytelling in the latest album, ‘Waiting for Tomorrow.’ Containing scary and disorienting themes, this album is a representation of the artist’s state of consciousness during the pandemic. The dystopian genre is intended to provide a contrast against the various perceived utopias of life and make one think critically of current engagements. In this light, this album may also be perceived as a warning against complacency. Sergio Pagnacco has a doctorate in audiology sciences and is a university lecturer. He teaches on cochlear implants, pediatric deafness and engages in seminars on hearing protection for musicians. The artist has also been on missions to Southeast Asia to help children with hearing impairments.

In 1988 he joined the east-german punk-band “Raving Madness” - after the split he founded in 1989 the straight left and political oriented band “Nachkriegsjugend” - with Tom Gruschwitz (voc) and Olaf Dettinger (g). In late 1989 he started from scratch with the pure experimental band “M”. “M” transformed into a bass-guitar band (3 basses and a drum (computer)) influenced by Velvet Underground, Dinosaur. Jr. and Spacemen 3 and split in summer 1991 after hours of tape recordings and live performances. After this the Reverend founded with the former singer of “Nachkriegsjugend” the band “Riefenstahl”. “Riefenstahl did three releases “Lufthansa”, “Wieland Förster Lieder” and “Riefenstahl III” and extended their activites to an artist group who produced a series of short films, video-installations and books. The 4th release, of a number of “Vogelweide” songs, was never published (two titles appeared as remix in 2006 on Reverend Benn Schippers privatelektro “Pnet 006” release “[album]Dance Music For Shitheads With The YY-Chromosome[/album]”). Schipper joined in 1993 the berlin based “Column One” for some live performances, releases and artworks (“Vis Spei” with Genesis P-Orridge, “The Excellent Listeners” and the soundtrack “Der Unterstand”). Search Add 3 The Jason Martinko Revue Jason S. Martinko, born April 19, 1979, began writing songs & performing at a very early age. By the 1990s he had played countless solo performances in different bars, clubs, coffeehouses, street corners & other social events. In 1997, after graduating high school in Pittsburgh, Martinko went to Ocean City, Maryland with friend & bassist Nate Fitzgerald, born January 20, 1979. The two made a living playing together on the boardwalk nightly for tips. In time they made quite a name for themselves making headlines in several local newspapers & appearing in a TV commercial for an Ocean City bar. In 1998, they returned to Pittsburgh to record their first album entitled, “Soul Boy”. Martinko & Fitzgerald performed around Pennsylvania, Virginia & Maryland to promote the CD. In 1999, Martinko met drummer Jordan McMillen, born May 5, 1983. McMillen was in a blues band looking for a solo opening act. Martinko played a few solo shows opening up for the blues band. Eventually, Martinko, Fitzgerald & McMillen began to play shows as a three-piece band. In 2000, McMillen left his blues band & The Jason Martinko Revue was born. The band would perform in countless seedy bars & roadhouses over the next few years. They went through many musicians including lead guitarists, sax & trumpet players. The three-piece core stayed the same. They began to record a new album. In 2003, The Jason Martinko Revue released a self-titled album that would sell hundreds of copies. They appeared in many local Pittsburgh newspapers & on several TV commercials. In early 2003, the band also began to film a horror movie they had written as an attempt to better promote their band. The film, “Gone The Way Of Flesh” was finished in 2006 & is scheduled to be released by Troma Entertainment on DVD worldwide in early 2007. In 2004, Larry Tamburri, born September 19, 1958 & Joe Maryanski, born July 1, 1981 joined The JMR on trumpet & tenor sax. Their gritty, authentic rhythm’n’blues horn arrangements would complete The JMR sound. The band continued to play in bars & juke joints along the East Coast. In 2005, Nate Fitzgerald left The JMR & was temporarily replaced by Craig Bolton. With the original three-piece core broken, the band struggled to find a permanent replacement. Around this time, the band began playing several different strip clubs around Pittsburgh. With the hype of their name & movie, “Gone The Way Of Flesh” building up, they began to acquire many hardcore fans. In 2006, The Jason Martinko Revue began recording their next album which will be released on Bonedog Records. They recorded at the Mojo Boneyard Studio based out of McKeesport, PA. Craig Bolton played bass on the album, but would soon be replaced by Mike “Ollie” Osborne, born October 3, 1980. Steve Jacobs, born November 18, 1966 also replaced Joe Maryanski on tenor sax. The JMR started production on their second feature film, “Gone The Way Of Flesh II: Fresh Bloody Flesh”. Their production company is called, Cut’N’Run Productions. The Jason Martinko Revue continues to tour, promoting their one-of-a-kind style of rock’n’roll music that relates to people of all ages & colors. With their wide range of combined styles, no foot has gone untapped during any of their performances, yet their style has still gone unclassified. They truly are a category of their own.

Search Add 3 The Val-Aires Members: Bill Burkette (Lead Baritone) Don Miller (Baritone) Hugh Geyer (First Tenor) Chuck Blasko (Second Tenor) Neil Foster The story began in 1958 at Turtle Creek High School. There were at least four different vocal harmony groups in school, whose members would sing at assemblies or on the street corner. Two groups joined forces - three fellows came from one group, two fellows from the other group. From one group came Burkette, first tenor Hugh Geyer and bass vocal Don Miller. The other group consisted of second tenor Chuck Blasko and another vocalist, Neil Foster. After rehearsing and getting their vocal harmonies to meld properly, they named themselves the Val-Aires and impressed a local producer, Elmer Willett, who later became their manager. Willett produced the Val-Aires' first release, "Which One Will It Be / Laurie My Love" (Willett 114), and it sold enough copies in Allegheny County that in Coral Records picked it up for national distribution (Coral 62177). 'Which One Will It Be' was just a regional hit, but The Val-Aires then picked up a supporter when the top rock and roll DJ in Pittsburgh, Porky Chedwick, added the group to the rock and roll shows and record hops that his station promoted. After high school, a couple of the guys got drafted and went into the service, then came out of the service and we got back together again. they did shows with the Drifters, the Platters, the Dells, groups like that when they came into town. Before the Val-Aires could have another hit, Hugh Geyer and Don Miller joined the Army, while the other band members went to college or found jobs in the factories surrounding Turtle Creek. A few years later, the five friends decided to record again. Bill Burkette, Don Miller, Hugh Geyer and Chuck Blasko became the Vogues.

Since their self-released debut EP „Off the Trails“ (2019) the 3-piece consisting of David Laudage, Martin Kreuzer and Sebastian “Borsti” Pieper has played countless festivals and shows all over Germany, including a sold out headline tour in January 2020 following the release of their two singles “Wherever I Go // You Follow“ and “By the Harbour“. For their latest work “TIME TO LOSE CONTROL“, which is out June 4th 2021, the band teamed up with cologne based producer Sven Ludwig (OK KID, Xul Zolar, Lina Maly). Moving perfectly between atmospheric Indie sound aesthetics and poppy arrangements on this diverse 6 song EP, Walking On Rivers have created a sound that is way more self-confident, international and mature than any of their prior work. The members are: Martin Kreuzer, David Laudage, Niklas Wiegand, Markus Kullmer and Borsti Pieper.

Search Add 3 Classic Muscle CLASSIC MUSCLE formed in August, 2013 in strange circumstances. Finding themselves stuck in a summer thunderstorm, luckily close to one of their rehearsal rooms, they formed out of a simple need to shelter; through a jam-session, beers all round, the songs were written in a few hours and recorded in one afternoon, live, raw, irresistible. Take a pick of what influences you want to tag them with (Swell Maps, Half-Japanese, Pixies, The Feelies, Low) the classic, reverb-laden vocal, messy yet ultimately melodic guitars backed with tight drums and bass, these boys tick all the right boxes, it's simply classic in every sense. Adding a considerable amount of muscle to their sound in it's sheer assault-on-the-senses live show, all those lightly reverby and totally safe-sounding Brooklyn bands better watch out, this band is the real deal.
