Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024
Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 12 | The Popovich Brothers Tamburitza Orchestra | The Popovich Brothers Tamburitza Orchestra | The Popovich Brothers Tamburitza Orchestra : is a family tamburtza orchestra" comprised of brothers, sisters, parents and their children, or even whole extended families. Like many of the old orchestras from Europe: "THE POPOVICH BROTHERS OF SOUTH CHICAGO is a portrait of a family of musicians in the heart of the Serbian-American community of South Chicago, and especially, the five Popovich brothers who made up the most famous and well loved tamburitza ensemble in the U.S. The film demonstrates the powerful role music plays in Serbian communities, the loving force it exerts on all members there and the tension that could unravel the cohesiveness of these communities when second and third generation, college-educated Serbians opt for professional lives in other cities. The film also chronicles some difficult developments in the life of these musicians who have been playing together since 1926, when their mother sent them off as children on a tour to play for the isolated Serbian mining and steel mill communities of the West and Midwest.". |

Enthusiastic about the variety of melodies and sounds of electronic music, he decided to start his musical career in the year 2006. So he bought his first equipment and started with Djing. Exhilarating and energetic sets are to expect from him, which he celebrates with much joy and love for the music. After some time of Djing Markus had the idea to create his own unique sound. So a period of experimentation in the field of music production followed. This lifted his sound to a higher level. His tracks are inspired by house and techno which are his musical roots. Markus creates his tracks with a lot of enthusiasm and passion for the music, what you can hear in the little details between the notes. |

He creates music derived from a wide range of influences including ambient, shoegaze, electronic and choral. Jack Anderton began experimenting with loops on computer software before bringing in traditional acoustic instruments and working on a structure influenced by Tangerine Dream to create music coined ‘Ambient Acoustic’. Steadily more electronic elements were introduced, and also more distorted elements which touched on shoegaze. More recently Jack has produced more conventional synth based ambient electronic music still with elements of that formative style- choral vocals, field recordings, acoustic melodies.

Search | Add | 12 | Dez Parkes | Dez Parkes (died 11th November 2022) compiler, collector, producer, DJ is one of the UKs most knowledgeable sources of music information. Some people say he was a walking encyclopedia on music. For 30 years Dez had monitored the changing face of entertainment as a dancer, deejay and label owner. Dez's passion for music began as a young child growing up in a collectors environment: his father was a record collector covering all aspects of black music and Dez himself ventured into this intriguing world in his early teens. In the early 70s he started dancing in the underground clubs with groups and became something of a fixture at the infamous Crackers, Birds Nest and the Whisky A Go Go (today known as The Wag), to name but a few, where under the tag Unknown Kwantity he became responsible for getting the party going. Dez's first DJ spot was to cover for the resident Sonny at the Whisky. Then came a liaison with another vinyl spinner, Trevor Shakes, and Dez and Trevor eventually teamed up to kick off the underground club, Spats. Running for some three years the club built an enviable reputation and anybody who was anybody and many of today's significant names attended to soak up the music and atmosphere. Further stints at Browns and The Maze (a.k.a Upstairs at Ronnies (Scotts)) kept his reputation flying high. In 1987 Dez was approached by RCA to compile and launch the Rare series of albums, which were responsible for starting the whole rare groove revival. The first release went straight into the national album charts at no. 75 - (this was a real ground breaker for underground rare black music in this country). Four further volumes were released plus a Best Of. The series was also responsible for containing numerous breaks, beats, samples and loops. On the back of this series he then compiled Motown Rare Grooves and Prelude One, again for RCA. At the same time Dez was working on some of the London's pirate radio stations including WBLS, Dance FM and Laser. During this very busy period Dez and several associates launched TUF (The Underground Family) Records and kicked off with a cover of Sweet Charles Yes Its You by Diana Brown & The Brothers which proved to be a major underground club hit: the group went on to become The Brand New Heavies. TUF Records following projects by Zinc and Rodeo Jones were received reasonably well, but following a hip-hop excursion from East Side Connection (which also rocked the label) the company was, alas, wound up. Dez's next liaison was with Ace Records where he compiled The Best of Pleasure Vols I and II. Further compilations for Ace followed namely All Spice, Jazz Collective and The Best of Pucho and the Latin Soul Brothers. Dez was later approached by Mastercuts and was asked to compile a couple of albums for them. What followed were Classic Rare Groove Vol.1 and Classic Rare Groove Vol.2. Dez continued to work in various areas of the music industry and continued to do so. He held approximately 50,000 records in his collection.

Search | Add | 12 | Kamil P. aka TheInfluence | Kamil Piekutowski | Kamil P, aka The Influence, is a Chicago based techno DJ and producer. Kamil adopted Chicago as his hometown upon relocating from Poland in 1999. As a child, Kamil was always drawn to music. His mother signed him up for piano lessons, which also included the fundamentals of music theory. He knew from an early age that he wanted to be in the music business. Kamil was first exposed to techno in high school, and was hooked. To him, the rhythmic and hypnotic ritual went beyond mere dance music. His teenage years were spent obsessively collecting DJ sets from various artists, listening to how the disparate tracks connect into a larger musical expression. When later music making software became more affordable, Kamil was able to experiment, making his own tracks, trying different combinations of loops and effects. This gave him some understanding of how electronic music is made – especially techno – but nothing yet close to a full production. A few years after moving to Chicago, Kamil got his first set of equipment; a simple mixer and two plastic Gemini turntables. With the help of DJ Liquid (Michael Kolbasky), known for performing at after hours parties throughout the city, he used these simple tools to learn how to DJ. His gear soon upgraded: along with a prodigious record collection, industry standard Technics 1200’s and a Pioneer DJM-700 mixer were now a part of his arsenal. He got his first gigs by promoting his demos, and was playing in clubs around Chicago. As time progressed, so did Kamil’s record collection and skill as a DJ, he realized that playing other people’s music was not enough – he needed to make his own. A local techno artist, DJ Mani (Manish Miglani), introduced him to Ableton Live software, which allowed Kamil to make a finished musical product. In 2007, Kamil’s track Detown Afterhours was selected on Dobox’s compilation Resurgence. This marked his first official release, sharing the compilation with techno icons such as Jerome Baker, Lester Fitzpatrick, and Kit Clayton. After the release of Resurgence, Kamil founded his own label, Drugaci Exhibitions. Along with music from himself, Drugaci Exhibitions is also responsible for the debut releases from DJ Seoul (Bill Stacy), Hansollo (Daniel Noetzel), and Unphixd. Currently, Kamil mainly focuses on production. He has found homes in labels such as SubDivizion, UKR, Mind Burn Recordings, and Right Groove Recordings. His tracks continue to be played by artists such as Lester Fitzpatrick, Terry Mitchell, Daz Furey, and DJ Seoul (among others). From an artistic perspective, Kamil shies away from popular formats of techno, pushing the envelope towards more experimental compositions. |

Search | Add | 12 | The Chestnut Grove Quartet | Bluegrass Gospel Acapella Group from of the Clinch Mountains in Southwest Virginia. From the Chestnut Grove Methodist Church in Abingdon, Virginia, this legendary (but little heard outside the region where they live) a cappella quartet has had a profound effect on gospel a cappella singing that far outstrips their local renown, influencing such local luminaries as Ralph Stanley, Doyle Lawson, and Ricky Skaggs, both in repertoire and performance style. These selections are drawn from albums made by the group during the 60s, 70s, and 80s to capitalize on the enormous popularity of their local radio broadcasts and personal appearances in the mountainous areas of Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, and West Virginia. Stylistically, the quartet springs from the shape note singing schools of their youth and the Stamps-Baxter shape note hymnals so omnipresent in white Protestant churches of rural areas; their four part harmonies and parts singing is as old as the churches where they learned to sing. |

These portraits have been created using different mediums and exist in varying scales while pushing through vacillating emotional filters of rage and fear. Caroline’s understanding of her body's capacity for degeneration forms the double-edged sword that inspires her work. Yet, when describing Providence, Rhode Island's Roz & The Rice Cakes, the term art rock is not just appropriate, it's dead center in terms of what they do and how they do it. Under the stuttering time-changes, the crescendos and the complex arrangements, at the heart of these songs, there's a simple pop quality that roots the band at a cross roads where Fleetwood Macand Henry Cow mingle with Bettie Serveert and Gwen Stefani. Roz & The Rice Cakes is equal parts experimental and catchy, energetic and bookish, daring and sugarcoated. |

Search | Add | 12 | Trase | TRASE (Erik de Wal, 1976) is a MC from The Netherlands and brings the real Hip Hop since '91. Went for his in 1997 after breaking up with his former band. TRASE stands for Things Really Ain't So Easy. TRASE in fact is his tagname which he came up with around 1989/1990. Basically formed for the great letters and it's diversity to design with. TRASE originally started as a graffiti artist. After elementary school TRASE discovered his love for the manipulation of the English language. Growing up in the north of The Netherlands, he tried to hit every mic available. Back in 1995 he started rocking house parties and ciphers alongside his formerly partner in rhyme, Signha and DJ Dear. Together they formed "The Buckwild Tribe", a group which fell apart in the end of 1997. In a period of 4 years they recorded some demo tracks which were never officially released. TRASE took it to the next level when he decided to leave the group and by taking manners in his own hand. It was 1998. TRASE was on mission to pursue his own solo career. He was tired of the no progress type of phases he had been dwelling in during the last years. The match with IMPRO turned out to be promising; they released their first product in 2001. The debut EP “The Encounta” attained favorable reviews. In the period after TRASE has worked on a project with several local artists and started working on another solo release. Originally he was to release a fully length untitled LP, but after completing several tracks it was shelved for reasons that were not entirely clear. In 2003 TRASE took his time to focus on new songs and has spent a lot time recording and performing. The same year he released “The Essentials”, a compilation of several songs recorded between 2001 and 2004. In 2007 another album (“Fase Of Transition”) was released. The past decades he connected, collaborated and performed with artists from Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Spain and The United States. In 2012 several albums were released; One EP followed by two albums. October 2013 saw the release of a new collaborative album with Sneek-based producer E.daBeatdetonator entitled "Back In Prime Form" on the Freshmess Music label. The first single was "Listen". Three years later another single from the album (“Wonder Years”), received an award for Best Hip Hop Song (January 2016) in America. In 2014 TRASE is back to the lab working on new material, because it’s about time for Hip Hop to resurface with true lyrics. With his latest release “The Travels of TRASE TRONIK”, which has been recorded between 2014 and 2017, TRASE continues his career as an solo artist. On this seventh studio album TRASE has worked with several national and international producers, which gives the overall outlook of the project a real diverse sound. Heavily nineties Hip Hop experienced like all TRASE albums, TRASE sets the vibe for a 45 minute ride through all kinds of subjects. To promote the album three singles and videos have been released so far. The album also will be digitally available through all top digital music services like Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, TIDAL and many more.

(Munechika Katsutoshi) | Katsutoshi 'Kuso' Munechika, also known as [a=Kusomiso] and under various other names, was an underground Japanese noise/experimental musician, bass player, founder of [l=Cosmo Baby] label. In the mid-eighties, Katsutoshi was an intermittent member of the controversial noise collective [a=The Gerogerigegege] and had collaborated with its founder [a=Juntaro Yamanouchi] on many occasions. They recorded a few tracks together as [a=Gero-Kuso] for [r=8818286] cassette compilation, released in 1994 by [l742140] (later re-released on the '99 [r5804914] memorial tape). In the liner notes to a '98 [r=517721], Kuso is credited, alongside with [a=Toshinori Fukuda] on drums, as a vocalist on "75 Live Songs (1987)," a 31-min long track which is supposed to be a 'remastered' [m=584338] album. On the original Tokyo Anal Dynamite, recorded in Oct 1987, vocals were simply marked as [a577748]—in Japanese, it literally means "he/she/they died," an equivalent of 'obiit' or a 'dagger' † symbol next to the deceased person's name. Fukuda, who wasn't really much known other than [a=Dynamite Gero] and didn't have any credited appearances after ~1988, could've already passed away by the T.A.D. CD was released in 1990. Unlike him, Munechika certainly continued playing and recording at least until the mid-nineties, which calls the credibility of either Tokyo Anal Dynamite's or Recollections Of Primary Masturbation's liner notes in question. He had been in the hospital since Nov 2017 and died due to aspiration pneumonia on 12th May 2020, aged 51. |

Search | Add | 12 | Billy Shaddox | Lyons, Colorado I live and make music in Lyons, Colorado. A few years back I set up a studio at my home and started recording my songs and making them into albums. My vision is to create hand crafted albums, personalized, rich with intention and care, limited in quantity and whenever possible imperfect. Along the way I built a skateboarding halfpipe and started hosting concerts from it, I call it the Rampitheater. I love guitars, skateboarding, painting and drawing, fly fishing, quiet time on the land, being with my wife and kids, a good fire in the wood stove, and taking in the stars at night. Hope you enjoy my musical offerings. Drop me a line or come see me in person. Sincerely, Billy Bio Billy Shaddox is blessed with the ability to blend the western dualities of coastal dreamer and high mountain drifter into his deep, easy flowing songs. This is modern American folk music with pop sensibilities. Rooted in stories of love and fortune lost, perspective and enlightenment gained, Shaddox captures the mystique of the West with indelible lyrical imagery and sharply original musicality: the displaced modern man weary of coping with vanishing ideals, the present-minded realist, the uncontrollable jealousy of the downtrodden miner, and the bright-eyed morning traveler setting out to make his mark on the world. The characters who inhabit Shaddox’ tales have a depth of personality and situational believability that leaves the listener feeling affected by their being long after their songs have woven their course. Shaddox is fresh out of the studio where he recorded a new album with producer Sam Kassirer at Great North Sound Society in Maine. Sam has producered Josh Ritter, Lake Street Dive, David Wax Museum, and Langhorn Slim to name a few, and his collaboration with Billy has resulted in a dynamic album that highlights Shaddox’ song writing and musicianship. Shaddox is a routine traveler, he is a musician, a camper, a skateboarder, and is always taking in what his surroundings are delivering. Keep an eye out for #folkwise, #billyshaddox, and #skateparksacrossamerica, when Billy Shaddox comes to your town you will want to be there!

Search | Add | 12 | Charlie Aldrich | Charles Aldrich | Born June, 3 1918. They called him "Walkin' Talkin'" Charlie Aldrich. He was a native of Ogawam, Oklahoma, a suburb about 25 miles from Bradley, Oklahoma. He came by that nickname rather naturally, felt everyone was his neighbor and was constantly 'walkin' and talkin' with anyone he'd meet. He was six foot two, smiling blue-green eyed, light brown haired and was talented as an emcee, guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and known for his sincertiy towards the public. Charlie worked hard to get his first guitar. He got it by milking enough cows on his mother's farm during the 1932 depression to buy a $3.98 guitar. His mother was his first teacher. And hard work and music stayed with him during those early years growing up. Later, he'd pick cotton all day long for 15 cents and then drive 30 miles to a country theater to see a Gene Autry movie, his first inspiration. Around 1946, Charlie got his honorable discharge from the Navy. From there he went to work as an assistant salesman for a dry goods chain store, where he got promoted quickly to head salesman. For about three years, Charlie had a band in Oklahoma and broadcasted over the CBS network with a show called "Oklahoma Roundup". Then, he went out west to California where he started working with Spade Cooley, the western swing king. Then, he became part of Cliffie Stone's Hometown Jamboree group that broadcast over KXLA and KLAC-TV out of El Monte, California. He also worked with T. Texas Tyler and Tony Martin a various points at that time, too. But along came 1951 and his popularity soared. He came out with a tune called "Walkin' The Guitar Strings" and it became his curtain call. That got him his own show on KTTV and was said to be getting over 200,000 pieces of mail a year. His songs were being published by the famed Acuff-Rose company and also the Tannen Music Company. He had three radio programs, five days a week on top of his daily television show. And if that didn't keep him busy enough, he owned and operated a music studio in Burbank, California. If he had any time left, he did personal appearances. He had a horse that may have been part of his personal appearances. It was called Ranger and was said to be a hit with the kids. Ranger could do 45 various types of stunts. And had had a quarter million kids climb on his back during a two year period. And he kept adding to his musical skills while he was in California. He got a degree for classical guitar music form the Los Angeles Conservatory of Music |

Together with a long-time musical acquaintance, Lars Wessel, he went on to create the foundations of the band. In late 2011, during the process of working on the band's first material, the concept for Revolution Unfolding was born. Set on that course, the band focused on writing, composing and arranging the new songs for the next several months, concluding in April 2012 with the recording of vocals in the Silent Wings Studio in Oer-Erkenschwick, Germany. During that time, Alex von Uchtrup joined the band forces with his bass guitar.

Search | Add | 12 | David K. Pomahač | David Pomahač | Czech singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist David Pomahač is the founder of the well-known urban folk duo [a2833477]. He previously left a footprint on the bands [a2220473], [a2661722], [a1738689]'s backing band, and in the last few years has also accompanied singer-songwriter Ima Teva. In early 2020, he stepped out of the shadows from Kieslowski and embarked on a solo career with the album [r=16586364] (The Darkness is Still Far Away), produced by Tomáš Havlen (Post-hudba, Zvíře jménem podzim, Spomenik, etc.). [r=16586364] ranked in the Top 20 of Radio 1's annual charts, in Full Moon magazine's list of the best records of 2020, in the top ten of Musicserver.cz's best albums of the year, and in Expres FM's selection of the best records of 2020. In April 2022, Pomahač is releasing his second solo album [m=2599649] via the label Minority Records. The co-writer of the music and producer of the record is Martin Hůla (aka Martin Tvrdý or Bonus). The album marks a new approach to writing for Pomahač. This time he did not seek inspiration in his personal life; instead the lyrics are mainly inspired by single sentences from the novels of H.G. Wells, dystopian sci-fi and the stories of those around him, weaving together tales of self-preservation and the will to survive. On the [m=2599649] album, guests include the violinist Jenovéfa Boková, cellist Marie Dorazilová, and David’s son [a2833548], who accompanies him onstage at concerts. The [a2833477] era is not forgotten however; these songs are part of Pomahač's history and are still included at his shows. |

Search | Add | 12 | Gooloo | Doing doughnuts in the parking lot of noise rock, hardcore, metal, math rock, no wave, and suburban punk, mid-90s Chicago band gooloo were known for their spazzy live show punctuated by antisocial antics and an inability to tune their guitars with any urgency. Founded as an instrumental two-piece in 1994 by high school friends Andrew Coon (Quatre Tete) and Mark William Pearson (Neptune), they soon tapped local weirdo guitar champ Adam Covalsky (ROM), who in turn brought in boy genius Paul Medrano (ROM) on bass and the quartet was complete. They released a 7" and one full length CD entitled Monkey By Default, recorded by Chicago punk legend Chuck Uchida, via the short-lived-but-influential Boston gnarler label Super 8 Records. Now available again digitally via Wrong Whole Archival Bureau, the Welcome To Atlantis/Cut It Out 7" has been remixed from 8 track cassette by Mark William Pearson and Monkey By Default has been remastered, along with bonus tracks, from the original DAT masters by Scott Craggs of Old Colony Mastering. While not well celebrated, gooloo maniacally sputtered down a path not many bands were taking at the time and possibly influenced someone somewhere. Maybe.

Started out as DJ ERROR in the late '98's and played in all kind of clubs and parties across the Netherlands even winning the first dj contest (Planet Rose) of the legendary club Doornroosje. In 2018 he got introduced by a be-friended colleague to the wonderful world of hardware and decided to start again with electronic music production (after some attempts in the early 2000’s). It didn’t take long to produce and release his first EP as GVE which immediately got played by the legendary Dimitri on Awakenings Festival. The first couple of releases where basically straight live-recordings from the machines. Things were stepping up when his track “orbiting” created an opportunity to work with industry-veteran Alexander Koning (percep-tion, kingstreet, bellboy). This collaboration resulted in his debut EP (Orbiting) as Gerwin van Engelenburg which got picked up by the likes of Ian O’ Donovan and others. This eventually lead to his release “Quadrupel” EP on the main label Percep-tion with an excellent remix from Alexander Koning which got played by John Digweed in his bunker show.

Search | Add | 12 | The Mid-States 4 | The Mid-States Four is the Barbershop Harmony Society's 1949 International Quartet Champion. First formed in 1942 as the Bell & Howell 4 with George Kledzik on tenor, Marty Mendro on lead, Forest “Forry” Haynes on baritone, and Bob Corbett on bass. The group changed their name to “Mid-States 4” when they left Bell & Howell and went to work for Mid-State Insurance and they sponsored the quartet. They competed in their first international contest in 1945 and placed 6th, they repeated as 6th place in 1946. That same year they won the Illinois District championship. Following that contest, Bob Rodriguez (later known as Bob Mack) replaced George Kledzik as tenor. In 1947, Arthur “Art” Gracey joined them as bass replacing Bob Corbett who was forced to leave due to job demands. They were 3rd place bronze medalists in 1947 and 2nd place silver medalists in 1948. They won it all in 1949 in Buffalo, NY. Following their victory in 1949 they went on to travel the country singing for hundreds of thousands of people. In 1950, the Mid-States 4 traveled to Korea for the U.S. troops singing 33 shows in 13 days. The Mid-States 4 went on to become well known for their slapstick comedy on stage and using musical instruments with their barbershop singing. They released three albums during their time together. In late 1957, Marty Mendro dropped out of the quartet due to job commitments and was replaced by Dick Mangunson for a short period of time until he returned around 1959. The Mid-States 4 retired in 1966 after 24 years of singing together. Mendro relocated to Arizona and Mack and Haynes relocated to Florida. They had a few reunions in the late 60’s and early 70’s. Art Gracey died in 1979. In 1982, Marty Mendro relocated to Florida and he, Bob Mack, and Forry Haynes decided to get the Mid-States 4 back together with Phil Hansen replacing the late Art Gracey as bass. They actively sang together on shows again until the spring of 1988 when Bob Mack died. Their final performance was in July of 1988 on the 1988 AIC Show in San Antonio, TX with Don Barnick of Grandma’s Boys and Keepsake filling in on tenor. Marty Mendro died in 2010, Phil Hansen died in 2012, and Forry Haynes died in 2014.
