Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025

Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Mitch Goldwater Mitch Goldwater started stirring syllables and song together as a tot, after he sat agog listening to John Lennon's words "flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup." Mitch went on to study and teach poetry writing (unlike Lennon, who, thankfully, did not). Nowadays he mostly crouches between song & poetry trying to fit the one into the other, right where he thinks they belong.

Search Add 2 Miranie Morissette Miranie comes from the Bas-du-Fleuve, from a small village called St-Moïse very close to Amqui. Her pretty first name, she owes it to a TV drama of the time, Marisol, where the name of one of the characters sounded like "Miranie". Attracted by music from childhood, she learned the guitar at the age of 11, since that time, she added several instruments such as drums, bass, piano and harmonica.

Search Add 2 Antye Guenther Antye Guenther is a visual artist, and artist researcher. She studied Photography and Free Arts at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig and State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe (both Germany), and did her postgraduate year at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht, the Netherlands, followed by a year as an associate researcher at apass in Brussels. She received various grants, scholarships and residencies, and her work has recently been shown at the Pinakothek der Moderne Munich, A Tale of a Tub Rotterdam, Kunsthalle Rostock, Science Gallery London, Fotomuseum Winterthur, and others. Her very often collaborative work comes then in hybrid forms: performative ceramic objects, fictionalised video tutorials, speculative scripts and sound pieces, artist publications, and narrative installations etc.

Also: antreten, durchtreten, abtreten! Call the Ambulance! Search Add 2 Holland Garcia Holland was born on June 14, 1947 in Oakland, California. In his childhood he moved with his family to Carmel where he became a life-long resident. From an early age Holland was drawn to the arts. His natural ability, imagination, and passion for music guided him his entire life. As a young man he graduated from the Toronto Royal Conservatory of Music and began composing and teaching music. He taught piano for many years at the Robert Louis Stevenson School in Pebble Beach. Besides his talent as a musician Holland was also an accomplished author writing under the name Gene Andrade, and an artist skilled in many mediums. He was a generous individual who loved being in nature and was passionate about educating his students about the beauty of music. "I'm a lifelong seeker of truth and wisdom. For many years I studied with a famous spiritual teacher who glorified yoga and meditation. When I realized that I was out of touch with my feelings, I then studied with a teacher who glorified emotions. Feeling bored after a few years, I then studied with a teacher who glorified the mind. Awakening to the reality that all are equal and that nobody should be followed, I finally went my own way. Now I follow my own heart and look within for the light to guide me on my path."

Search Add 2 DJ Boronas George Boronas Boronas begun his dj career during the mid 90's in Thessaloniki, Greece. Early influences came from his parents record collection. Some piano and guitar lessons where enough to make him realize his love for music and made him want to be a part of all that. A few years later George started to collect vinyl which ignited his passion to use these records to create a mood in a club. Soon after, at the age of 16, he got the chance to start his dj career as he started playing his first parties. At the time George was mixing break beat, jungle and intelligent drum n' bass Style. Soon he changed his musical taste and moved into deep house, house, tech-house and techno with influences that came from USA's 90's house and techno scene, as well as house from the UK. George had residencies in various clubs in his hometown of Thessaloniki and was also organising nights with Pale Penguin. Together they planned parties hosting guest DJs, live musicians and local heroes who supported the events with live instruments like sax, guitars, keyboards and percussion. Until now he has played alongside artists like Wareika, Loco Dice, Martin Buttrich, Aril Brikha.

Search Add 2 Albert Skira Swiss publisher, pioneering books designer and founder of the eponymous printing house (10 August 1904, Geneva —14 September 1973, Dully). Albert Skira is widely renowned for de-facto inventing contemporary "coffee table" art books in the 1930s by reviving the antique des Quart format and setting new quality standards in full-color printing. He also published an iconic art and literary review French magazine, Minotaure (1933–39), which featured some of the most influential surrealists, writers and philosophers of the era, including [a945713], [a=Marcel Duchamp], [a826508], and [a8888548]. In 1928, after working as a bookseller for several years, Skira established Editions d'Art Albert Skira in Lausanne, aiming to publish classic and modern literature illustrated by leading contemporary artists. In 1931, Albert Skira moved the operations to his hometown, Geneva. Over the next few years, he produced a critically-acclaimed series of "definitive," deluxe editions: [a=Ovid]'s Les Métamorphoses (1931) with 30 original engravings by [a=Pablo Picasso], Poésies ('32) by [a811967] with 29 etchings by [a=Henri Matisse], and [a959502]'s Les Chants de Maldoror ('34) decorated by [a195296]. Skira spent most of the 1930s in Paris, where he published a renowned Minotaure art magazine. Albert returned to Geneva in 1941 and continued running Skira Editore throughout World War II, with some of the highlights including [a534911]'s Florilège des Amours (1941–'48) in collaboration with Matisse, Pantagruel (1943) by [a750556], or [a=Jean-Paul Sartre]'s Nourritures ('49) illustrated by Wols. In the 1950s and 60s, his perfectionism turned [l609420] into one of the world's leading publishing houses for art books with full-color illustrations. Skira had international customers, such as book publishers and several record labels: RCA Victor's deluxe [l=Soria Series], [l232007] and Swedish [l1087733]. In his final years, Albert Skira worked on several ambitious, comprehensive compendiums of fine arts, including The Great Centuries of Painting (1950–59) in 14 volumes, eight-part Treasures of the World (1962–70) and a few others.
