Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024

Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 The Out-Sect The members of The Out-Sect all met while living in a Philadelphia junkyard. On weekends they would gather to drink beers inside a broken down 1982 GMC Caballero with a copy of Back From The Grave stuck in the car’s cassette player. Instantly being drawn to the trashy sounds of those pimple-faced mid-60s punks, they figured they could write a song half as good as any of them. And that’s just what they did! Using instruments they, quite literally, found in the trash, the band has managed to write a handful of deranged “songs” that will leave you asking yourself “What is that smell?” and “Dear god, can they just stop playing!?”

Search Add 2 The Bluemont Singers The group began as the Bluemont Singers, a folk group created in 1962 at K-State by Dimmitt and three of his fraternity brothers, Dimmitt said. They performed for university and fraternity functions and other organizations in Manhattan and the surrounding area. They even won a spot on Ted Mack’s “The Original Amateur Hour,” appearing on national television Jan. 6, 1963. However, a bigger break for the group came that summer when the New Christy Minstrels recruited the regular folk group at the Castaways Lounge in Kansas City, Mo. (Gene Clark, who would later become part of the Byrds, was one of the singers the Christys recruited.) The Castaways, suddenly left without entertainment, hired the Bluemonts to play out the month, then occasionally on the weekends and the following summer. About the same time, Schlosser, a talented bass player, joined the Bluemonts while still in high school. A Kansas City record company recorded them for a live LP album, “The Bluemont Singers at the Castaways.” Another highlight of the summer of ’64, Dimmitt said, was when Connie Stevens, who performed at Starlight Theater, stopped by and sang a couple of songs with the Bluemonts nervously backing the star of “Hawaiian Eye.” The group continued to play the Castaways and the Vanguard Coffee House, also in Kansas City, through their college days, but disbanded as they pursued graduate school and careers. However, Dimmitt and Schlosser, both attorneys, continued to play together in other groups, such as the Kaw Valley Skillet Lickers, the Barristers and the Shyster Mountain Gang.

Search Add 2 DJ Junko Japanese hip-hop and r&b DJ from Tokyo, Japan. Starting in 1997, Junko became a resident DJ at club Dynamite together with DJ's Tatsuta and Kreva. Although her playing style is undeniably female, she was able to win over the masculine crowd as well, and in March 2003 she was chosen alongside DJ Masterkey and DJ Kaori to mix “Harlem in the Mix” released on BMG, and Tommy Girl. In 2004, she released a series of compilations titled “Street To Da Fullest” and began touring Korea, Taiwan and other markets the following year. In 2006 she released "Party" on Next Entertainment, and “South To Da Fullest”, volume one of DJ Honda Recordings' southern series. As an events organizer, DJ Junko is active with Diamond@Club Harlem, where she books an exclusively-female cast. Although she is based in Tokyo, she can frequently be seen playing in Osaka as well.

Search Add 2 Grotoko Winnipeg's Grotoko is an art rock project, drawing inspiration from punk, grunge, and classical music. Its name is a collage of the words "rococo" and "grotesque". Using melodic lines and a confessional, sometimes sarcastic, non-sense lyrical style, it is a celebration of emotions, attempting to create something mildly beautiful from some uglier things in human experience.

Search Add 2 The Afternoon Round The Afternoon Round was an indie rock/country band from Ypsilanti, Michigan that was formed in 2009 and disbanded in 2011. The line-up consisted of Tim Clairmont (lead vocals, songwriter, guitar, harmonica), Rick Coughlin (guitar, lap steel, backing vocals), Ian Gleespan (bass, backing vocals), Martin Maginity (drums, percussion) and Zack Henderson (pedal steel, guitar). They released one album, Princess Of A One Horse Town in 2009 and one extended play, Pleased As Punch in 2011. Henderson had already left the band by the time Pleased As Punch EP was released. From archived Myspace profile: "The Afternoon Round is a rock band. We make original music with guitars, drums, bass, and vocal chords with the conviction that "pop" is not a dirty word and that a hook doesn't make you a sell-out. We want you to not only hear our songs, but remember them. That's why we have lovingly crafted each of our songs using only the choicest ingredients. We start out with fresh emotions translated into words and transferred onto recycled notebook paper. Next, we take refurbished chord progressions salvaged from Pop scrapyards from the past and future and transform them into shiny verses, glowing bridges, and blinding choruses. Finally, using new (and entirely organic), ideas culled straight from our frontal lobes we add the licks, harmonies, beats, and melodies to satisfy your discerning auditory cortex. We hope you enjoy."
